Heimdall firmware packages for stock GT-P6200 firmwares
Heimdall 1.3 included support for "Heimdall Firmware Packages," an XML-driven way to define, create, and distribute firmwares. This is a powerful tool for ROM developers, but I haven't seen it being used yet. In order to encourage and support the use of these new firmware packages, I've packaged up a few stock Samsung firmwares for use with Heimdall.
For those that don't know, Heimdall is an open-source, cross-platform tool written by Benjamin Dobell which can flash complete ROMs, kernels, modems, etc to Samsung Galaxy-series devices. It's preferable over Odin as its source code is open and it is therefore undergoing public development, and we can review the code. In comparison, Odin is a closed-source, Windows-only, internal Samsung utility, and what we know very little about it.
Downloads
These are stock ROMs, just as you'd find on Samfirmware or wherever else. I have not modified them other than unpacking and repacking for flashing with Heimdall (meaning they are odexed). If the upstream firmware includes bootloaders, I've included them*. I'll do my best to indicate additional information next to each ROM.

Thanks to Benjamin Dobell for writing Heimdall. Thanks to [Ramad] for the idea of listing unadulterated stock ROMs. Thanks to Supercurio for being a role model of openness and transparency. We need more pro-community devs.
Flashing instructions
Flashing instructions
Make sure you've installed Heimdall version 1.3 or higher (1.3.2 seems to have a bug, though, steer clear of that one for now). Do not unzip the firmware package, we open it up directly in the heimdall frontend graphical user interface! This procedure will wipe your device and you will lose all your installed applications. Make a backup of your applications/data with Titanium Backup or whatever before trying!
Step 1: Open Heimdall's frontend (heimdall-frontend on Linux)
Step 2: Load the downloaded tar.gz into Heimdall

Step 3: Press "Load / Customize"
Step 4: Boot your tablet into "Download mode" (Volume Down + Power), and connect it to your computer
Step 5 (optional): Customize the installation before flashing by removing or adding different files (such as pre-rooted kernels or different modems)
Step 6: Press "Start"
Your tablet will begin to flash and then reboot.
Thanks for this. However, is this for the GT-P6200 or the GT-P6210?

That's for you to decide.
Notice, all I've done is take GT-P6200 ROMs and package them as .tar.gz Heimdall packages and uploaded them. That's literally all I've done. I'm not rolling custom ROMs here! These are 6200 stock ROMs. If they're compatible with the 6210 is nothing I've done on purpose.
Firmware for the 6210 is different to the 6200.... this is why I asked.
This is great! I've used Heimdall to restore my wife's sidekick 4g a few times with ease.
Could you give us a little info about what you do to the stock "ROMs" to load them up into this tool?

Actually, Heimdall is ridiculously easy. You should really just give it a try. The stock firmwares unzip into a series of files which correspond to the partitions on the device. See here, the contents of the DXKL3 firmware:
Code:
[[email protected]: ~/Downloads/DXKL3]$ ls
boot.bin cache.img factoryfs.img hidden.img modem.bin param.lfs recovery.img Sbl.bin zImage
In Heimdall you just add new files and select which partition they need to be flashed to. It's really simple. Heimdall is way better then Odin. Serious.

This increases the counter, just like Odin. The motivation for using Heimdall is only that it is open source, and safer than Odin. For now I don't know of any reason that the custom counter could be a problem. When Ice Cream Sandwich comes out we'll just use TriangleAway to reset the counter anyways.
Thanks aorth.

It is more or less equivalent to XXKB3 in usability, here are few things I noticed as compared to DDKB2:
1. GPS is way better (Got an instant lock on 3 Sat using Sygic)
2. Boot/Shutdown time is less
3. Battery backup is better (but not better than KB3)
4. No more crashing of process.com.android.settings while uninstalling apps
5. Relatively smooth transitions
6. More free space (18MB) in system partition than XXKB3 (11.8MB)
Formatted internal SD and installed this update via Kies. Let's see how it goes...
Any idea when we might have an official gingerbread update?

First of all download XXKB3
Use the link for flashing procedure
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004622
1)Flash XXKB3 twice with the pit file.
2)then flash DDKF1 since its a single file you need to flash it in PDA( no need to use pit file)
3) connect to kies, if it says device cannot be updated
4) flash DDKF1 again
5) now kies should say latest version
Note: hard reset after every flash that is dial *2767*3855# once you reach the homescreen

Glad to hear it guys!
Very happy to know it works just as well on the T-mobile one.
I can get some custom ROMs going if I can get a copy of someone's /system and boot.img .
First goal is CM9 and then a migration to CM10.1 once that is pretty stabile.
Luckily for us, we have two amazingly complete CM sources with the d2att ( and nice d2 kernel chain!) and p5100 which cover most of our requirements as far as setup and drivers/libs.
Thank You for the support. If you like this, check out my site, say thanks, and/or vote this up onto the main site for a post so it is more visible.

Not at all. You are merely flashing Root over your existing install. I also suggest that you make a backup prior to installing SuperSU. All of your non-native apps and contacts, etc are on /data and SuperSU does not touch /data at all.
Just posted up the Original Stock Recovery in an Odin Flashable if you want to return to stock.
Thanks for figuring this out. If you still need boot img or anything from the t-mobile version let me know. Also is it possible to add the t-mobile model number (SGH-T779) to the thread title, it would help others to find it.
Thanks again
Edit: I just saw that you added the model to the OP. Thanks again
Yeah I can extract system images from the CWM blobs if that is all you have. However a simple tar ball of /system and your boot.img would be helpful.
No more help at this time, however that might change with CM9 integration for T-Mobile.

I honestly have no idea! That Model Number did not appear in the code, however the hardware is the same and considering the partition table is almost exactly like the D2 it just might.
IF YOU DO SO, YOU DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. I am not responsible!
Worst Case scenario, you will not be able to "wipe" your device in case of a failure easily until you perform a Manual update using Kies (usually the Samsung firmware has the recovery.img in it, but no guarantees!).
Get me a Copy of the Recovery.img or Full Odin Image for that device and I can probably make it work. The same would be true of the new SPH-P500 for Sprint. I do not have a Verzion version so I cannot test it. If you are a willing volunteer, let me know.
The Gtab2 10.1 LTE is Basically a Blown up Galaxy S3. However I am quickly finding that the AOSP D2 Kernel source doesnt like me much... erg.
Im out of town now but if no one shares their system I will dump mine when I get back sat morning.

All the rooting steps are the same as the other gtab 2 10.1???
Yes. Basically.
These are the standard root steps for all Samsung devices with unlocked boot loaders.
Its the software and images that you are putting on your device which are different.

Quote from General TWRP description by Dees_Troy:
Team Win Recovery Project 2.x, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Recovery image for Tab 4 7.0 uses Linux kernel 3.10.0

Compiled kernel source for SM-T230_EUR_XX from http://opensource.samsung.com/
Install instructions:
For some reason odin 3.09 fails to flash the device. If it's the same case for you, you can give it a try with heimdall it works fine.
Extract the tar file then,
heimdall flash --RECOVERY recovery.img

Here is also another method by nointer. I haven't verified it though.
Feel free to submit changes/ report any bugs/enhancements
I was able to flash this and it booted into recovery just fine. I didn't try to flash anything or backup device yet. It looks like the external sd isn't working. It showed 500mb free for both internal and external. I had 2gb free on the card though, now we just need some cool ROMs
Woah.... Hold on there. Are we talking about the TWRP for the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 (SM-T230NU). I thought it wasn't possible since it uses Marvell Hardware.

Can I use this TWRP for SM-T231 model?
Yyyiiii-haaaa!!!
flashed with adb, looks perfect!!! SM-T230 Wi-Fi
jic there's someone in need of exact instructions, here's how I did it (needs root)
extract the tar, put recovery.img on device's sdcard
adb shell
su
ls /dev/block/platform/soc.2/by-name/RECOVERY -l
<produces "lrwxrwxrwx root root 2014-07-28 13:34 RECOVERY -> /dev/block/mmcblk0p9>
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p9 of=/sdcard/original.recovery.img
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p9
exit
exit
adb reboot recovery
c'est tout!

Most probably yes, no guarantees though as I don't have that device to test it out.

You HAVE to add an md5 to flash thru odin on this device. If its not in tar.md5 itll get stuck and eventually fail. I figured that out flashing my kernel

I have the S4 and it didn't have Knox until the latest 4.4 Android update and since then it hasn't stopped development, but it might have slowed it down. I don't care if my phone shows the Knox has been tripped for the kernel, recovery, or rom. So if they do implement it on the Tab 4, which I doubt they will (its more of a cheap device for normal people, not businesses), the worst Samsung has done is just scare us with telling us the warranty is void. I wouldn't worry. I doubt it really is coming. I haven't heard it from anyone, so don't take me word for or against it

@tgalal i've been try to build twrp using your code, but always end with error
Target ram disk: /home/ubuntu1404/cyanogenmod/out/target/product/degaswifi/ramdisk.img
make: *** No rule to make target `/home/ubuntu1404/cyanogenmod/out/target/product/degaswifi/kernel', needed by `/home/ubuntu1404/cyanogenmod/out/target/product/degaswifi/recovery/root.ts'. Stop.
at out folder there's a ramdisk.img with tiny size 367kb only and there is no recovery.img
and i unpack and repack boot.im and get a boot-new.img where i must place this boot-new.img?
thank you

Have you placed the kernel source at kernel/samsung/degaswifi? If you don't want to compile the kernel you can use a prebuilt one (u can extract it from my recovery.img), but then you need to set TARGET_PREBUILT_KERNEL in BoardConfig.mk instead of TARGET_KERNEL_SOURCE

They also break Allshare Cast. To be specific, it will immediately disconnect after you connect rather than stay connected like it should. Apparently it checks that the flash counter is set to 0 and if not then it will refuse to stay connected. Sadly nobody has come up with a patched version yet so the only solution is to wait for Triangle Away to support the Tab 4.
got root and now got twrp , sweet!!!
Just wondering, does it work with SD cards yet or does everything have to be done using internal memory?
can someone put up a step by step guide sorry i am a noob. i am rooted now i want to have a custom recovery. and then after that will we be able to have custom roms?

One UI 5 Beta 2 for R895U. Enjoy everyone and please help one another out on how to flash this. It's a community for a reason. Not take, go, brick, cry and cry some more for your errors. You're a grown up, act accordingly for everyone's sake and sanity.

Firmware available for the Watch 4 Classic R895U.
These are update.zips only!
These are not full Odin flashable zips. You can however still flash these by using adb sideload. And how you keep and stay connected throughout the whole flashing process is strictly up to you and only you. I cannot provide support for any type of flashing and only decided to give the masses something that's been missing and that's access to any firmware for watches. Use at your own discretion and be mindful of what you do.

Staying connected on the wifi is a task for me.
i've never flashed on watch. ive done on my phone and it was easy.there was still room for mistakes with an unlocked bootloader.
I am on r870 gwd6 stable...can I install this 2nd beta on stable without installing 1st beta and what's the process
Will the R895U files work for both bluetooth and LTE variants?
Hi, is there a tutorial how to do it? Or if I flash the beta firmware, is it possible to go back to my home csc/firmware?

There's plenty of tutorials here at XDA that can guide you on how to flash. And as far as your CSC. There's no definitive answer as to how to change it. But there are semi work-arounds. Head over to @adfree thread for more information.
How to apply update.zip? I entered Recovery and switched to sideload mode, but adb: sideload connection failed: no devices/emulators found and nothing found on win11 device manager
