Just got my rejection letter from skyfire. Wondering if anyone got in the beta and has any impressions?

they dinged me too -- with their rejection email, I felt like they wanted to go out of their way to tell me NO.

Whoa u make that sound real bad.

I got a response to sign an NDA and supply my IMEI of my phone for the alpha.. will probably do that in the next couple days and hopefully get my hands on the alpha build.

where do you signup for beta?

There was an update at the top of the beta signup page, that they were no longer accepting new testers. Shouldn't be a surprise if you got a rejection notice. lol

that's prob not going to work anyhow as they are requiring you to provide your IMEI and Skyfire relies on a server so it prob will be locked to authorized IMEIs.

I agree and didn't appreciate it. If they only wanted 30 testers then they didn't need to ask publicly for testers. I regret sending them my IMEI which they requested BEFORE they rejected me. I can wait for Flash 10.1 which will negate any need for Skyfire, imo.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend releasing the apk if anyone has it. I was on blackberry when Skyfire was alpha testing for bb and the app was leaked. It took Skyfire about 2 hours to shut the whole alpha test down for a month while they revamped their procedures for security checking the testers. now the whole bb test is gone.
I'd say just be patient on this one.

hahah I remember that one. I had it on my bb for 20 mins before it stopped working. BTW skyfire just announced that they stopped developing for bb for now until 6.0 is out.
For those who want flash that bad just install the Desire rom it has flash. It cool but it is very choppy for my taste.

Glad our Captivates were not designed like this...

That will result in fewer sales on a small percentage of users! Probably enough to make even DEV's not want to even jack with it.

They did jack with it and it's now permanent rootable along with the mt4g. People like to be challenged.

It will eventually come to all but the nexus series of phones and the geeksphone, and the XDA community will find a way to disable that chip in time.

Why post an article that holds no weight to our phone? And that phone is rooted already.

If the phone reverts to the original software, how are they ever going to do updates?
I have a feeling that there is a way to make permanent changes. It will just take time for someone to figure it how their updates work.

Android gummy bears after ICS?

was watching the ICS video and at the 35 minute mark, the presenter showed the new gmail app. usually they show a dummy account with fluff stuff. But this looked like it had accidently legit emails. Duarte Matais is in charge of android Look and feel.
anyhow, saw a screenshot where it said potential issues with candy-grams and unable to ship gummy....
what are your thoughts?

My thoughts are: You're reading too much into things (and not enough into others).
All of the accounts on that phone are listed as [email protected] All of the subject lines and message contents are filler for the test accounts.

LOL, I know. I just wanted to see if i can start my very own rumor.

Drivers, yes. Bootloaders, not really.
Jobless for 6 months, and now under heavy load to help a startup company get going, I've just been too slammed to get moving further. I've talked with TheLastSidekick about sending him his phone back, but he declined and said I could hang on to it a bit longer.
Either way, I'm hoping after a few more bills get paid off (from being out of work so long), that I'll be able to buy an sk4g for me to experiment with hardware modifications to get an sk4g dev phone. Mostly because I don't want to mess up TLS's sidekick.
I've also had some problems with porting sk4g to the teamacid sgs4g 2.6.35.7 kernel. Not that it isn't possible, I'm just short on time. If you know how to hack on kernels, have a usb uart, and an sk4g, let me know. I can share code and builds.
I don't have time to teach kernel development, you'll have to wait for xda-university to come online for that.
So to answer the OP's question: It's being worked on, but very slowly. Sorry about that. I'm still waiting on my time machine to come in the mail so I can stop time and get everything done at once.

What version of Android are you currently on?

If you think of the android 5.0 rollout happening like a bell shaped curve over a long period of time, like 2 weeks, it is possible you are on the back end of when the update will be pushed to your phone. I am just guessing but I know google rolls out updates painfully slow.

you can sideload the OTA, but if you have no idea about that, just be patient and wait and the OTA will come eventually. Google sends the updates in waves, it's not like Apple who sends it to all devices at once.

if you are going to wait for the update, it can take as long as 3 weeks to get from the first day they start updates.
