[Q] Contacts Recovery - HTC Inspire 4G

So I made a back up in both Google and sd card. But I can't seem to recover them. Where exactly is the file stored?

If your contacts were all Google contacts you need only to log onto the phone with the same gmail address and they will automatically be synced back to the phone through google. I can find my contacts on my pc here https://www.google.com/contacts_v2/#contacts
If you exported your contacts to your sd card then the file should be on the root of your sd card. Depending on the type of contacts the names will be different. If phone contacts they will start with pcsc and if they are google the file will start with google. Files will have a ".vcf" suffix.

Go to the contacts apps, menu and then import / export from sdcard. It will detect your .vcf file automatically and download it to the cell.

[Q] flash help with contacts

hi i know this might be a dumb question but how do i save my contacts that arnt on my sim card/that are saved on my sim card, when i flash a rom? thanks
market. mybackup.apk for root users. ^_^
how does it save it though do i just back it up and it will still be there after i flash my new rom? or do i need to buy the premium to save it im confused on how it will show up after i put new rom on plz help
Contacts are automatically backed up thru google. And your sim card can only hold up to 150 numbers. Anyways if your scared losing your contacts then just back up all contacts to your sd card. People > menu > import/export > export to sd and then choose what account contacts you want backed up. And to restore contacts just hit import from sd card.

transfer to SD

I transferred a program called star chart from phone to SD card and when i hook up to PC I cant locate the program. Anyone know if it goes into a certain folder when transferring it or something?
not too sure
on your pc
go into your removeable disc
type in the name of the file your looking for into the search box in the removable disk window.
it should pop up and then your can go backwards from there to find its exact location.
yea that was the first thing i attempted to do which is why i thought it was odd i couldnt find it.
When you say transferred to SD Card. How did you do this ? Do you have a sd_ext partition on the SD Card ?
If you just want a copy of it, just copy it with a File Manager of some description, I use Root Manager, to a known location on the SDcard.

micro sd card - strange trouble

so i took out my memory card and put it in a new card reader, the card reader did something funny and all files & folders disappeared and there was just one 0kb file named USB&somegarbage. I put the card back in the phone and it surely created the DCIM folders again etc.
I then connected it to icare data recovery and i am able to see that all the files are still there with most of them not corrupted but the folder names are gone,I wondering if there is a way for me to recover the original file structure back? any one?
Thanks in advance.

In my opinion, I would just recover everything and just format that card. When you reinsert the card, the phone should restore default folders back and just place your data in the respective folders. I don't think there is anything you really need to add new folders for, other than the default unless you had a specific folder arrangement for photos or something like that.
Format the card to NTFS not FAT.
Do it either on your PC or Mac.
But you must install a NTFS app on the android, otherwise the device will not recognise the card.
You can format the card to NTFS using the app too.
The app will auto mount the card when the device is turned on.
I've found this method more stable than having the card in FAT mode.
I'm surprised Samsung haven't sorted this out yet!

Most seamless way to backup SD card?

Hello all,
I keep getting a message on my phone about my SD card being damaged and needs replacing. I bought a new SD card, so I was wondering if people knew of a seamless way to backup/directly transfer to the new SD card? An app.? Using my PC? Any help is appreciated.
I have always copied the old card's contents to a folder in my PC, then from the PC to the new card.

How do you go about the specific folders documents/pictures/app. data needs to go in? Any tips?
I've never had any issues just copying and pasting the folders and other contents as they are. Make sure you have your file explorer set to show hidden files and folders.

Thank you. Forgot when connecting my phone I can use HiSuite. Seems my SD card only has pictures, so should be a breeze to simply transfer those.
