[Q] Need help rooting my friend's sensation, mine has been rooted successfully. - HTC Sensation

Ok So my friend from work wanted his sensation rooted after I did mine. He has S-OFF and has sucessfully permanently rooted it with the SU-bin 3.03 blah blah zip file. I've succesfully rooted my own with CID of 11111111 and used 4EXT recovery to install the 3.24 firmware. He, however, gets the known boot loop problem, which I know is due to firmware not being upgraded. I can't for the life of me connect his phone and have ADB connect to it to change his CID.
I've got the same exact model phone, down to the same carrier, so I have the HTC sensation USB drivers (HTC sync) installed on my pc. It won't detect it though because of it not being able to boot into android's OS.
I'm attempting to download a rom that is based off of the stock firmware hoping this will solve my problem, but wouldn't mind any insight on it.

Well, if i got it right you just need to pick a firmware flashable for that phone without supercid, am i right? In that case there's the topic where you can find all firmware adjusted to a particular CID, grab that from your phone, put into your sd (you may want to put a ROM to flash too), then put your SD with the matching firmware onto his phone, reboot and it's done! Finally swap again the SD card.

Yes I would think so, but I can't figure out what current CID he has on his phone because I can't boot up into android's OS and connect to my phone on my PC with ADB (adb devices shows up, but when I try to set the CID it wont work).

Fails to "set" or fails just the command? Because if its only a "set" issue, the command may (unlikely) work and show you the cid! Or we can try to find it out with some info like brand/country/etc ..

Figured it out, had to do with the sync cable I was using. used a different one and i was able to set the CID to 1111111 or w/e. Installed the new firmware and the silly boot loop stopped.

HELP! Semi-brick updating Desire-S Goggle Maps

Hello,
I have a problem with my Desire S, when I was updating the GoogleMaps app, my phone went off. When I've always stays on the HTC home screen. The recovery and the factory reset does not work. My phone is Vodafone Spain stock rom with the S-ON and HBOOT is 002.
I tried to install roms from htc official signed with the RUU but does not load, it always comes message "loading bootloader". I have also tried to install from SD but tells me that files are missing and PG88DIAG.nbh PG88DIAG.zip. The PG88IMG.zip is extracted but finally sends message "CID error."
I have also tried to load an official rom and modifying the file by entering the CID xxx.txt my VODAP304 operator. So give me the error again missing the first two files, but extracts PG88IMG.zip well, but does nothing.
I made a last test from the console Windows7 with fastboot and I tried to load the partitions one by one (boot.img recovery.img, etc ...), but warning recognizes files that do not load because they are not signed , extracted from a signed official rom, this will not understand why it happens.
I ask for help if anyone knows how to solve the problem. I also ask where or how I can get the stock rom 1.47.161.2 Vodafone Spain.
I do not want root and S-OFF if I can not fix send the SAT because it is in warranty.
Sounds like this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150917 . Returning it under warranty will be the best what you can do...
Thanks,
this thread had not read it, I decided to send the SAT to repair or Vodafone send me a new phone.
Quite a few people are having this problem now. What would happen if you are S-Off and have a modified ROM. Bad luck or would it still be possible to get warranty?

Solved [Q] HTC Desire Stuck on Fastboot s-on :(

Hi
Please help me my HTC Desire S stuck on fastboot and bootloader after change the hboot to 0.98.0000 s-on
i cant using adb to change the hboot ;(
i cant install my official rom ruu htc saga ara 1.36.415.1 ;( error 140 i dont know why my current rom 1.47.415.1 and i did that before
i cant install ruu htc saga europe 2.10.401.5 ;( error 131
i cant create goldcard cuz i dont know the sd card cid "i cant using adb on fastboot"
Plz tell me what can i do???
Well, I'm not sure there is a lot to do when you're S-ON. But I would give Android Flasher a try. It worked for me, even if adb couldn't recognize my phone.
Thanx my friend i will try it
Android flasher doesnt work with hboot S-ON.
U can make gold card on other android device. And then, u can run RUU Europe 1.28.
If you can't, you can take to Services or S-OFF by XTC-clip
I had the same problem, but do not dispair you can fix this.
Obviously one point you have missed on the whole goldcard thing is that you dont have to use ADB or your bricked phone to find out the CID, put it into a card reader and use your PC. So onto making yourself a goldcard.
The process of creating one is rather hit and miss, but I eventually got one to work. Make sure you use an MicroSD card that is 2GB or smaller as any larger than this and it's a SDHC card and wont work. I used a old 1GB Sandisk card my girlfriend had spare. Have a look on the forums for a goldcard.exe file to run on windows to simplify the process, I found this worked when the forum described method did not. Keep trying with this as it took me many attempts to get a working goldcard.
From your post it sounds like you want to install the cool new Android 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0. Your problem is your phone will not take the European RUU 2.10.401.5 as your phone is from another region - 1.47.415.1 (india?) and got screwed up in the process. The bold part of the software version number relates to region. Mine was from Thailand and the european update worked when installed with my goldcard.
When you have your goldcard created you need to extract the ROM.zip file from the RUU (just run the exe and look in your PCs temp directory whilst the exe is open, it unpacks itself there) and then rename this to PG88IMG.zip. Put this file onto your goldcard and then power on your Desire S whilst holding the Vol. down button.
If you still get errors like 130 or 140 your goldcard is not made correctly, so try again.
Once you have the new update working take yourself to htcdev.com and unlock the bootloader, then you can flash CWM recovery and root it as well.
Hope this helps
thanxxxxxxxxx all really i miss these solutions because i was very confuse
thanx again for all i will try it and give u my feedback

One tiny correction on this part, I use a 16GB SanDisk Class 6 GoldCard. Means its an SDHC and I haven't had any problems with it.

flashing ICS back to stock

Hey guys,
I have to flash my HTC Sensation back to stock, because it have a little hardware error (its sometimes suddenly shutting down ...)
My Sensation is from Germany..
On my phone is currently the Cyanogenmod 9. Yesterday I flashed the eng Hboot 1.17, because I read somewhere that i have to. Is this true?
After this I wanted to restore my backup of the original Rom, but this doesn't work. There were some errors and so on.
I think if I would send it back to HTC I have to uninstall the CWM and I have to install the old Hboot 1.18, but after a lot of reading today and yesterday I'm very confused., because I found no working way ...

Person with pretty much same problem and some advice.
1. Flash old 1.17 FW (unless you're Super CID, in which case you may not need to)
-> ok i flashed a 1.17 FW. Everything is still working without any issue, but after I unlocked my phone i had the 1.17.111and so on FW. Now I have the 1.17.2008. Is this maybe a wrong fw?
2. Flash the RUU of your choice (normally the one your phone came with, if available)
->I don't know the RUU which my phone came with , the most was done by the program revolutionary. I have an unbranded European Sensation. Which is the right RUU?
RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.27.401.3_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_192183_signed.exe

I read that I can brinck my phone very fast with it, so it is very important
I just have to download the exe and run it, after this it will flash my phone if it is in USB Debugging ?
I hope it is so easy to downgrade the phone from 4.0.3 to 2.3.4
3. Reset Super CID to one of your choice (again, usually the one your phone came with)
Is this important? Or is it enought if I just reinsert the battery, becuase I don't know if I'm Super CID
4. S-ON using the fastboot command in the guide in the Dev forum
with adb-tools:
-fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
-fastboot reboot-bootloader
right?
RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.50.401.1_R_Radio_10.58.90 35.00U_10.15.9035.02_2_release_228602_signed.exe
This was on my unbranded Sensation when I bought it.
For SuperCID look here (Step 4):

warning
i updated to icecreamsandwich firmware h boot 1.23. i neede to go back to stock so i follwed directions on guide to s-on and ran ruu that came with my phone and it says error get the right bootloader ruu .however it didnt brick it but bootloader says security warning wifi and wifi hotspot both gives error. ive tried everything i know to fix it with no luck. ive heard its because i upgraded the firmware.
ok I'm now on Super cid. This was just very easy
Ok now I have to download the RUU (filefactory is very slow... )
What will happen, when I would flash the wrong EU ROM? Or is this just impossible?
Is it important to reset the cid to the cid which was set, when I got the phone? Or is it set back by flashing the RUU?
I have a lot of questions, but I don't wanna brick my lovely phone
Edit:
Ok everything is now fine. My phone is now on Andorid 2.3.4, S-On, old CID and unrootet...
I hope they will repair it, because sometimes the phone run 2 days without any issue and sometimes it just runs some hours without issue...

[Q] bootmanager problem HTC HD7

I have a problem on my HTC HD7. I tried to flash the Rom and the process didn't go well.. Now on the bootmanager (colored screen) is not written serial or usb in the bottom and my PC doesn't recognise it in this mode, but zune recognise it when it's Turned on. How can I solve that problem?
P.S. I had another problem, my device rebooted automatically sometimes.. And it show me a message "Storage card did non work"
Thank you
Franci4396
Were you trying to flash a custom ROM? There's a very clear warning on the RSPL program not to use it on bootloader (SPL) versions 4 or greater. It sounds like you had version 4, based ont eh error you report...
The best way that I know of to fix the problem is GoldCard, though installing an official update CAB that includes a new bootloader (basically, any HTC firmware CAB for your phone) has been reported to work too.
The "storage card" error sounds like there's a problem with the internal microSD that the HD7 uses to store data. They come loose sometimes. You can replace that card, but getting to it without voiding your phone's warranty is difficult. If you're already out of warranty, though, it's not too hard if you have a set of small screwdrivers.
Can you give me a goldcard cab site??
For either GoldCard or a suitable update CAB (they are *not* the same thing), search the dev&hacking sub-forum. You'll need an OEM CAB that is for your phone and newer than your current firmware, if you want to go that route. Note, however, that it will lock your bootloader down even more. You can't flash right now anyhow, so unless you just want to flash a stock ROM I wouldn't bother fixing the bootloader that way.

[Q] Problems going back to stock after Venom Rom installed

Hi Everyone,
knowing it's all out there, just need to read (a lot), please help me finding the correct way to solve my problem. I can not change to other ROM, mostly due to lack of knowledge. Please before you judge and claim I should read and learn, i have kids who don't allow me read things properly, and there are tons of information out there, seems simplier to ask for directions this time, based on the situation of the phone.
This is the first custom rom I tried on my new S4 HTC One S (not brand new, just new to me). It was stock rom, locked. Followed instructions on different threads, I unlocked the phone, flashed TWRP recovery, installed SuperSU, copied Venom Rom zip to SD card and installed from recovery, with the aroma. Success. Before installation I did a backup in TWRP.
I very much like the rom (though have 2 issues: 1. phone reboots randomly without any notification. 2 phone loses carrier randomly, so I see no GSM connection as if SIM was removed. This happens when phone is untouched so no way SIM is loosy or something). When I try to chose carrier manually from settings, it sais no SIM card is installed...
But I would like to try other roms as well, and also wish to compare some stock roms. So I downloaded a generic HTC Europe stock RUU, hoping I can easily flash it. Relocked the phone, ran the RUU.exe with Fastboot USB mode in bootloader, but it all came up with error messages and left me at the HTC logo. All I can do is to re-install Venom 3.0.0 from recovery, that works, otherwise I end up in boot loop.
Also I can not go back to the original state using the backup from TWRP. It installs boots but it basicaly freezes before the phone setup comes. I can see the background image, the clock and the GSM antenna sign, but thats all, nothing else happens, no matter how hard I try to reboot.
Phone current boot screen shows: Tampered + Unlocked
VLE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.15.0000
Radio-1.15.50.05.29
OpenDSP-v31.1.0.45.0815
eMMC-boot
Dec 14 2012, 17:10
When I re-locked the phone it said Tampered + Relocked + Security Warning
As recovery I have TWRP 2.6.0.0 flashed. I did nothing else.
Could someone help me with instructions or at least directions how I could go back to a nice stock RUU? With the one I downloaded i had different error codes 213 (wrong ID) and 255 Unkown error.
I believe as the phone is not S-OFF and/or Super CID, it is relevant which RUU I download. The phone used to boot with a voda logo, so I believe it was one of the UK or AT voda stock roms, but neither works.
Your opinion/feedback is highly appreciated.
Cheers,
skee

To go back to stock u have to flash the right RUU, depends on which CID ur phone got.
u can download it here: http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Ville
If u downloaded the right RUU, boot ur HOS into fastboot relock the phone and start the RUU.
Let it finish and u r on stock
Hi Homeboy, thanks for the answer. Seems clear. I have only 1 question. How can I make sure which is the right RUU?
I believe I should do a getvar all command, to see the CID id? Then what shall I look at the RUU's filename?
And after the phone having been relocked, shall it be in fatboot USB in bootloader or shall the phone be up and running when I start the RUU.exe from the computer?
thanks
