What's the purpose for dock mode? Does it save battery life?
Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk
No clue but people say they having issues with it on certain roms. I don't use it personally myself.
Well wouldn't a dock be used in conjunction with a dock station?
Shifted from Outer Space
I've seen docks before for certain phones. Mainly the OG Evo

I would think so too but you can use it without plus shift doesn't have one that I know of...

MikRunny Shifted has the Dock Mode, works fine. It basically turns your phone into a beside clock Plus. Because it has all the info that's important to you available at a glance. It sets it at a very low power consumption mode. Also sets the backlight to a comfortably dim setting. Works best if you have some kind of Stand, or dock for your phone. Desk Clock on MikShifted G, and Supreme Sense does almost the same thing.

I think it's more of a Rom thing. Although I'll be the first to admit I'm not a hundres percent on that.

ADW.Launcher can do this. I believe Launcher Pro as well.
Or switch to CM7 and it will auto-rotate.

Another reason to switch to it
Thanks guys. I will look into getting ADW Launcher or switching to CM7 (I assume that's CyanogenMod7??)
From my quick playing around, VegaN (running launcher pro free) will let you rotate the full 360, but some apps and games will still insist on resetting back to what they consider to be the default orientation - take angry birds for example, you can have your tablet upside down with the UI flipped automatically but as soon as you crank up angry birds, it will go back to the default orientation which will now cause the game to go upside-down.
My point here is I don't think you're going to be 100% satisfied by just changing ROMs, I think you'll need to look for or implement some kind of hack to make the tablet permanently think that flipped is now the new orientation....

Now that is a good idea. I hope one of you guys who know what you're doing can come up with something. This screen is perfect for me when it's upside down.
A question for the ADW users: will it play videos upside down, or do they always re-orient back to the normal way up?

Adw will fix home screen, but IIRC, everything else is app dependent (if the author enabled full gyroscope/rotation)

I'm getting my Note later this week and was planning to use Swiftkey as well, so I'm interested in the answer to this.
Did you try both the tablet version and the phone version?

I am currently using Thumb keyboard without any issues. The dev are even adding support for this phone (so I have read in another forum).
I'm currently using tablet version and only think with (sometimes) wrong size are suggestions, on short words only since the font size decreases on longer words.

It did update a couple of times without any issue.

I tried both Swiftkey X and Swiftkey Tablet X on my phone and both worked fine. I decided to use the tablet version because in landscape it splits the keyboard so I can reach it better.

I am aware that I can choose different layout but as I get used to it I find it more easier to use. My passwords consists of various numbers and letters and I find it easier to type as the numeric keys are present on the same screen
On Swiftkey X I decreased the long press to 250ms from 500ms so I just have to hold the letter for a split second to get a number. It's pretty fast.

Anyone know if there is a way to install the stock ICS keyboard on the AT&T One X? In videos I've seen of the HOX, the built in keyboard looks dreadful...especially with those navigation arrows that take up the entire bottom row of the keyboard. I loved the stock ICS keyboard when I had the Galaxy Nexus so is it possible to install it?

Yes, I think Tim Hutt has it, all he did was remove dependencies so that it would run on all devices.
Thanks. So far so good. No FCs. And it doesn't bring up the keyboard menu in the notification bar
I can vouch. I just installed it on my AT&T One X and it works 100%. So much better for me since it's similar to the iPhone like numbers, symbols, etc location being on the left side vs the right side.
I was typing so slow due to this. 100% better now

I don't know why you guys are going through all this effort when there are already ICS stock keyboards that have been ported that are available on the Play store.
I installed this one and it works great.

I totally agree, this one is in my opinion even better. Out of the box the default vibration on keypress is a little strong but if gives you the option to lower the strength to be closer to the stock ICS keyboard.
In advanced settings I changed the timing from 100ms to 25ms and its perfect.

No, I'm back to CM7. I tried out different ICS roms the past few months, but never found one that was reliable enough for me. Plus it's hard to give up the 720p video when you've got young kids.
Cm is aosp based...I had a period where mine was less responsive and sticking down, think I got some sand in it from the beach, just kept using it though...it seems to work fine now, though the button is recessed lower than my wifes...and am using a sense based rom

oops, I read aosp as aokp, my bad.
But it seems like a physical problem more than a software one. If I press down hard it registers the click, but I'm worried I'll wear out the mechanism.

Okay, this may be dumb but I am wondering if I am the only one thinking about this. Currently, I am rocking the latest ICS version of venom and beast mode kernel. At first I though sleep to wake was really cool. Recently, however, I have come to depend on it. It is so awesome to be able to wake my phone from the front (like an iDevice) and now I even am starting to hate that I can't sleep my iPad from the front the way I can with my HOX.
Typically I just enjoy my phone and at the same time look forward to future hardware improvements. Sadly, however, it looks like HTC and others are going with on screen keys in increasing numbers. Its sad to think that my next upgrade may result in a loss of functionality (and maybe even less usable screen real-estate.)
Am I the only one?
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
i agree, i'm really liking s2w and on-screen keys are NOT cool.
You are definitely not the only one. I completely depend on s2w. I used a JB sense ROM the other day and I don't know how many times I tried to use s2w. Went back to JellyBam and Rohans kernel with a quickness. And yes, on screen keys would suck. Never used one like that but I feel like I'd hate it.

Thanks for enlightening me! I still prefer the screen of my HOX to my buddy's N4 but it's nice to know that s2w is possible!
:good:
I felt the same way about screen real estate, but I realized its a matter of perspective. Look at your phone. Look at the hardware keys. Now imagine your screen extending to where they are. Your screen is bigger. Now imagine that when you need them, those buttons can pop up, and when you don't need them they can go away.
Its a glass half empty or glass half full issue. My buddy says "depends on whether you are drinking or filling the glass" I say true. You need to ask yourself if you want the overall phone to be bigger or not because that's really the only thing that is changing. A 3.7" screen with hw buttons could be 4" without. Or conversely a 4" screen would end up 3.7" if you put those buttons under it and kept the phone the same size overall.

Opposite for me, the only thing I liked about my gnex was the on screen keys and being able to remap them to what I want and change their color etc.
Especially with PA newer feature where they have per app color.
I'd look forward to a HTC device with on screen keys.
