I would try Craigslist for the area you are going or try a local dealer, or electronics store. And for those bands I'm pretty sure you'd need an AT&T phone

Head into Town
If you are going to be in Miami for just a few days, then I would simply head out into town and within 5 minutes I'm sure you will come across at least an AT&T or Verizon store, if not both. Just going into one of the stores (your favorite carrier or the one with the best plan and price combo) and trying out the android phones in person really helps you to decide on the right smartphone phone - which is a decent sized investment.

No, its more just like local people trying to sell things. You can get some really good prices on there. A lot better than buying brand new from att

Honestly if you want a good unlocked phone, just order it from the company directly. You get quicker updates and no bloatware anyway.

LOL. Don't come to the US to buy unlocked phones. We do not sell them unlocked, they're almost ALL carrier locked.
The only phones you would be able to use with proper frequencies is AT&T models.
Just buy from an importer man. Not sure where you're from, but surely there are easy ways to buy phones and ship them to your place. The US is a terrible place to buy a phone that you don't intend to use on that carrier's network.
nevermind,i bought an unlocked i9100 at the dolphin mall

Hi all, I want to buy n5 in south korea next week. I want to take it home in Indonesia unlocked, and I read in some websites that said that most of the phones there are contracted in 1-2 years.
so what I want to ask is: do they have place to buy phone freely(without contract) and unlocked(which means I can use it in Indonesia :laugh ?
thanks!
Nexus phones are always unlocked. And you can use Google play to buy the phone "freely".

Hello, I am going to buy this Nexus 5 in U.S. (NY) next week.
What should I know befor buying it? I am not from U.S. (from Israel).
What should I check or ensure?
I am going to buy it from T-MOBILT by the way.
Thank' guys!
You should know that you'll be buying the wrong version for use in Israel. There's two versions of the Nexus, one for North America (D820) and one for the rest of the world (D821), the difference being the radio bands that are supported, specifically the LTE bands. So while a North American model will work oversees for voice and 3G data, it won't for work 4G, as it doesn't support the proper bands.
Everything he said^^^^^^^. Also you should check out a few review videos on YouTube to get an idea of what the Nexus 5 has to offer.

why would i, as an american, need to generally buy a phone that is meant for European countries?
the US uses different LTE bands than the European countries, so thats why the hardware (note: radio only bands only) is different.

http://www.myworldphone.com/ sells the international Nexus 5 D821. Their store is located in New York City (in Queens close to JFK Airport). You can do online chat with them to confirm before you depart home.
Since today, can be purchased from motorola Mexico, starting from $5,999.00
Anyone in Mexico want to help me buy one and ship to the US?
Can anyone confirm the Moto X Play sold in Mexico is the dual sim version? It's unbelievable how confusing Motorola's model # and specification pages are.

The Moto X Play in Mexico has dual nanoSIM, model XT1563
The mexico model should be good to go here in the states and be unlocked. I would also be interesting in a 32gb model. If someone has an address in mexico we can ship to and then ship it back to use here...thats all we would need

Is that because you have one in hand or just from the motorola.mx website? I chatted with the motorola latin america support and they said at the moment only the single sim version is available. If you go through motomaker it makes no mention of dual sim, nor in the any of the description content. You only see dual nanoSIM in the specs.

Yes I remember. I was going to get one from you but decided against it because of the hardware buttons. Atleast in Mexico we also have full access to the 32gb model and moto maker. It is the best option and if you can hook it up I know many people will be happy

Yes I'm willing to try! The Mexican version is exactly what I'm looking for since it's not tied to any carrier and it will get updates directly from Motorola.

The experience with T-Mobile was really good, this phone has AWS band for T-Mobile 3G and all the bands in LTE for T-Mobile and AT&T, and even some Chinese LTE bands, and I guess this phone is really good for a backup phone, I still love my Nexus 6, but this phone holds his ground pretty good.

I got an invitation by Motorola, so when they announced the availability of this phone, also was available a few units for us at the time, but only in white or black, right now the only way to get it is via Moto Maker, takes around 10 days, in a few days it going to be available in Best Buy Mexico, but I don’t think the deliver to the US, usually we buy in the US or import from the US, not the other way around, I don’t think there is a good exporter to US

I think there is a person doing what you need, http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/general/selling-moto-x-play-mexico-t3187218, beside that; I like the phone but no more than the Nexus 6.
Ex Samsung Note buyer here.
It was a toss up between the Moto X Pure Style and the Sony Xperia Z5 premium and went for the Moto on price.
I'm assuming it's not region locked like Samsung phones as I'm in the UK and need it to work out of the box. Network bands seem to be OK.
I've ordered from the states and I like that the US version has CDMA also if I need that on my travels.
So bye bye Samsung and HELLO MOTO!
I agree with you. I got a note 5 about 2 weeks ago and after experiencing touchwiz lag I just can't take it. It has the best hardware but touchwiz just ruins it. So I ended up preordering the the moto x pure for a more vanilla android experience.
I also like the subtle moto features like moto voice. I used google voice and siri often, so having an always listening feature is killer.

I always go completely unlocked.
Currently have 3 different PAYG sims from 3 networks plus some American sims though they differ from UK ones which never run out until you spend all the credit.
Maybe T-Mobile will finally break open the American market and go with the unspent credit model? LOL
Was asking just so you double checked the bands to the UK networks. I know the US version wont work with Three.

I don't have Three but can't see why it wouldn't work the bands listed are identical aren't they?
Hi Guys,
It has been a while since I used an android and the usual problem with carrier phone is they lock some bands (dont know why they do this) and undeletable bloatware.
Saw some ads in eBay that are selling refurb pixel phones and the price is not that bad.
I just want to ask will there be some issues of using verizon pixel in Canada or is it possible to change the firmware of the phone to make it global so it can unlock the bands,
Thanks for those who will reply
Today or tomorrow you can find out!
New firmware will be floating around. Try to take the update to your device. See what update it tries to push.
Hopefully it does a good thing for you..
