I wonder how many will follow?

This is ****ing great I love to hear **** like this I think next time they throttle me ill march down there and file a small claims suit use this as a reference in court. If they are protected against class action I think they should get millions of small claims

great news !!!!!!!, cant wait att change them throttling for unlimit coustom

Pretty sure they have it in your contract that they can change it at any time.. Wouldn't be surprised if they lose to many of these lawsuits that they just move everyone over to the 3gb plan(same price as unlimited) and gave you the option to walk away without ETF. Might take a few of these losses but don't be surprised if it happens.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium

Very unlikely they would give the option to walk without etf. That's 17 million customers you're talking about, about half of all their customers. I have a feeling they have a plan to screw everyone.

I got throttled at only 1.2 gb this month (4 days into my billing cycle). Mad, i switched to hspa+ only and racked up 13gb in two days. On the third day I switched back to 4G LTE and what do you know, I'm no longer being throttled. I'm not sure if it's related to this or not but I'm happy!

this is funny

So I sourced this from reddit.com
Apparently people were putting a package together with the help of a few freelance lawyers to make a kit so that the average person could get all of the documents together and have all their bases covered in order to have a good chance of winning the small claims court case. It was getting a lot of attention.
Either my search skills are rusty, or overnight the moderators deleted the thread due to AT&T pressure or some other reasons.
edit: found it
http://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/q4j2q/att_sued_for_throttling_unlimited_data_plan/
seems though that they removed it from and type of direct search. interesting.

No one in my life cares except for my XDA family..
I just got the dreaded text from t-mo and was immediately throttled to .006mbps. Seriously, FML. I have like 20 days left in my cycle. ARRRRGGHHHH
I even was desperate enough to try the (now defunct) alternative APN internet1.voicestream.com. I even tried internets 2 and 3!!!
God forbid I run into any feral cats on my walk home, because I am going to punt something and I prefer pine cones, but homeless cats fly further.
Happened to me last month. It sucks balls bug time. Sorry dude, calling tmo wont help either trust me....

The way to get around data throttling is to have a friend that works at TMO and use their unused $5 employee data only plan. I now effectively have 5 more GB on a spare SIM card. Once I get throttled on my MT4G I start tethering on my MT3G.

Your only 4 hours from TMO 's headquarters. Take a road trip, find a bar close to HQ, and find a group of ppl w TMO phones.

Are there any ways to work around the data cap/throttle?

Just wondering if anyone can help me out with any tweaks to beat this damn 60kbps throttle from tmobile. I have tried the patch that was created for the froyo roms but it didn't work for me. Any information would be greatly appreciated please PM me. Its best the information isn't posted publicly due to the brown nosing tmobile turds that troll these forums. Thanks in advance.

There is no way around the cap. It is done of T-Mobiles servers and linked to your SIM card. Many people have tried to get around it without any luck.

I can dig what you're saying but I'd like to think of it as being resourceful rather than cheap. After all it is android, several exploits and loopholes exist for other devices already. Ill keep fishing and maybe I can figure it out. Maybe IP/MAC spoofing would work to avoid the asshats at T-Mobile.

thats what i did lol theres your throttle fix.
It's not a work-around to the T-Mobile cap exactly. But by fine tuning when and how your installed apps use data, can keep you under the cap. For example instead of streaming podcast with Mediafly I installed DogCatcher. I set the download permissions for the application to only update when connected to WiFi and plugged in.
That alone has cut my data usage in half. Fine tuning other settings in apps like email, facebook and twitter have also cut down my data usage. I went from always bumping the data cap to moving to the next lowest data rate plan.
Something to consider!

im not being cheap at all!! but is it possible i can up to the 10GB/ month? i just started a 2 yr contract 2 months ago and i get capped everymonth so far to 56k speeds...i pay 100 dollars a month and i think thats alot already! thats no fun when i dont get access to wifi everywhete like most of you.
If you change your phone number & get a new SIM chip it resets yer data usage. Setup google voice, get 5GIG plan - wait 2 weeks & spend $15 to have phone number changed and get another 5Gig. Two more weeks, billing cycle starts over, another 5GIG. Wait 2 more weeks and change phone number again - 5 more gig. Repeat every month. If you use google voice then everyone will still have your phone number. I think to get the 10gig plan it's 30 bucks so this saves you 15 bucks a month. Of course its also a huge pain in the ass for 15 bucks.
Lol that's actually pretty damn clever. A huge undertaking, but still clever. Well done.

Any wireless plans that give you truly unlimited data, tethering included

I'm starting to get tired of ATT, and I would like to switch providers. I only need unlimited data, and the ability to tether. I would also like to have the ability to keep my GSM phones active, but that's not a requirement. Does anybody have an idea who I could switch to?
No such provider exists. The closest thing you could get is the new Tmobile plan but it still has a soft limit (they throttle you) at 5GB.
I'm grandfathered in on AT&T's unlimited plan...when they threaten to take it away I threaten to go elsewhere.... 3 phones on my plan (Family Plan) and all 3 unlimited...not bragging, but only bring it up hoping you can tell them you want unlimited or you are going to another company that offers it. With the APN settings I use, I don't get throttled. Do a search, pretty simple settings. So many on here using it, surprised you're not. Great 4G towers in this area for AT&T, not so much for Sprint. But if Sprint is good in your area then I say make the switch! Seems like you already made up your mind anyways.

I think they are expanding in Syracuse, not rolling it out. I am pretty sure they already have 4G. I am about 70 miles south of Syracuse and I am not expecting anything different by us. I am pretty sure that 4G has much shorter range so changes further away don't really impact surrounding areas.

Well according to the article in the OP, Syracuse is listed under the category of "expand the existing 4G LTE"...take that for what it is worth I guess.
I don't see what the fuss is about unless your on a grandfathered unlimited plan since with the new shared plans, Verizon lets you surf the web and check your email, anything else will drain your mbs for each month. Its totally bassakwards, they put up more towers rolling out 4GLTE, but with their new limitations, 4G speed is kind of irrelivent if you hardly get the chance to use it IMO.

I have a year left on my unlimited contract with verizon if they ever switch me to a limited data plan ill leave. do they care maybe not but i am not gonna watch a youtube video then run to see where my data limit is on a damn widget for $29.99 a month data. its insane to me that people are willing to do this.
i dont use alot of data maybe 4gb a month my moms line uses about 2gb were both unlimited but its the idea that we would have to worry about how much data were using when i pay more for my phones internet then i do on my homes internet i shouldn't have to think about it. its my account with 3 lines i pay for my moms line fyi.

im with you... I've tried everything imaginable... at least when verizon had unlimited, it was truly unlimited. I'll never forget a couple years ago when 3G/LTE went down in the Savanahh, GA area when I was stationed at Fort Stewart, I called Verizon and said "Im not getting data, do you throttle services?" Rep said "We shouldn't unless you're in the top 5% of subscribers, let me check your account"... clickety click click click of the keyboard "...oh my. I have to say, that is the highest useage I've ever personally seen. You're at 33 GB of LTE used.". I was only 12 days into my billing period at the time
There is a company called telcel America I used them for 4 months they had unlimited service for 45 a month no throttling whatsoever to the best of my knowledge they ran on on tmobiles network I used 5 gig a month 10 MBS down 2 up 2 weeks ago they stopped but they still have the $60 plan that you get unlimited talking to mexico I think sorry do the badly written post in a rush will update later

That's what I like about the $30 Monthly4G plan, I haven't hit the 5gb soft cap yet. And vonage mobile works great for extra free minutes.
I used to have the T-Mobile Unlimited 3G plan when I had a BlackBerry, and I would regularly break 20-30GB data on it when I was still going to school and still be able to maintain 3G speeds.
When I upgraded to the Blaze I was forced to switch to their new "Unlimited" plan, which seems to choke the speeds down around 5-6GB. Although this month I'm already around 7GB and I still pull in decent H+ speeds between 8 and 12Mbps, so maybe they only restrict the speeds during peak hours or something.
I have been doing research(ugh. feels like school lol) and I stumbled upon this. Since I've been using the UVMC Radio from the Hercules I think this should work. Note. It says to do these methods before getting throttled. I don't know if it works because I am getting throttled already..
