Basically, I was rooted, everything worked fine, I was happy with it. Phone crashed when I restarted it once for some reason (every app force closing persistantly when I turned on the phone), so I went back to unrooted stock and stock bootloaders using the one click application.
Now, I have a battery issue. The Gallery is using up 65-85% of my battery, and "Stay awake" under Gallery is almost the entire time the phone is on. This is despite never taking a picture, or opening the gallery in any way.
Has anyone else had this bug and is there any way to fix it?
Try removing the gallery apk and see if that is indeed your problem. You can add the gallery back later once you figure out your problem.
You may also try redownloading and reflashing one click. You may have a bad download. It does happen.
Or of course the gremlin remover one click.

Hi Group,
After I upgraded to 2.3.2 I have issues with gallery storage. The photos are going the to gallery but after reboot of the phone they are disappearing.
Anyone with similar problems?
I looked and sure enough there was an image I had taken yesterday missing. Well I took another and rebooted and now the other one is back and the one I took to test is also there. Odd.
yip - also seen this - took a pic, it was not in gallery, rebooted and there it was???!!
I've to say that the stock gallery app is pretty cool when comes to the 3D effect, but really bad for photo management. It always take me too much time to load all the pics, and not all pics will display.
This has happened multiple times to me. I have had to do reboots to see my movies and photos.. It doesn't bother me now that I know how to get them back, but the first time I had the reaction of WTF lol

There are Market apps that let you force a rescan of the sdcard for media without doing a reboot. They might help you in your situation rather than rebooting.
Here's one: http://www.appbrain.com/app/sdrescan/com.bero.sdrescan
Here's another: http://www.appbrain.com/app/rescan-media-root/com.addz.mediascannerroot
The second one requires you to be rooted, the first one doesn't say you need root.
Since 2.3.1
I have been experience this problem often without doing the upgrade. Since day one of purchasing this phone I have had problems in the Gallery with pictures disappearing, substantial load times, and pictures not showing for hours on end (what so ever).
I tried the upgrade to see if it would change anything...it did not.
I have a problem where when I try to open one picture, it'll actually open another one, often from a different album entirely.
Had this problem prior to 2.3.2 and after the update, still have it -- in fact, it seems to occur more frequently.
The woes of Gingerbread march on...
I am becoming more and more disenchanted by Google and the "pure Android" experience. Random ringtone changes, anyone?
My camera app has all of the sudden stop working. When i open it the screen turns black for a sec and goes back to the last screen. I am rooted on the original rom. Troubleshooting:
1. I have tried force stopping it
2. I have cleared the data.
3. I have removed the camera.apk and reinstalled.
Nothing has worked. 3rd party apps work fine. Any help is appreciated thank you.

had this same problem with two phones. Found out the problem was an app I had DL. I used anyunlock or anylock, lock screen remover and then I also had tried another lock screen called nolock, both of these apps kept my camera from opening. Don't know why but they did. I obviously erased the app, rebooted the phone and camera was back. If that is not your problem check other apps.

I'll be damned it was widgetlocker. Removed and Camera works again. Thanks for the tip

Recently I've been noticing that the stock launcher always seems to restart when coming out of another app. For instance, I might go into Gmail for a few seconds, and when I press the home button, I get the white HTC screen then a loading screen for the launcher. So I have to wait like 15 seconds before actually seeing my home screen when I was just there seconds before!
Is anyone else having this issue?
I tried switching to Launcher Pro, but I got similar issues there, where all the icons would have to reload individually on the screen when pressing the home button. And it was a big laggy (more so than the stock launcher).
I had that same problem but that was because I accidently moved the sense launcher to my sd, after moving it back it stopped also look to see if any of the sense programs like people, browser etc we moved cause they can also cause Sense to restart if not stored on phone.

Nope, they're all on my phone. Just double checked.
Having same problem but it's intermittent. I also asked a couple of other people and they are having the same problem.
It's really annoying. I don't always have quick access to apps because of this. And running another launcher doesn't help. Hopefully this is fixed in the OTA update, whenever that'll be.

I have found that turning off the Fast Boot feature and restarting has pretty much eliminated this problem.
Thanks rorycs! That seems to have done the trick.
Any ideas why fast boot was causing the issue in the first place?

I have no idea... I can only guess that Fast Boot caches some data and that when the data is changed by a new app install/delete or some other saved data it has to rebuild the cached data each time before reloading .... Just a guess....

I've tried and, yes, it helps a little but it still happens!
So, I wonder when HTC's going to fix it? (I don't feel like doing a hard reset!)
I tried reformatting my memory card and also I no longer use the htc task manager to "kill all" seems to be working for me so far.

Hi since this evening I have the same problem. The first few weeks I did not have any problem with my sensation. This afternoon I applied a display protector and now he is starting up again and again.
Coincidence probably.
Where can I find the fast reboot mode> I can't find it on my (dutch, vodafone branded) phone.
Thanks
Usually the sense UI closes itself when the phone runs out of RAM, that's why it happens when you exit an app. Seems like also the fast boot option uses a bit more RAM so it makes the sense restart more often. Hope I helped.
Yeah mine has started restarting recently also.
I stopped fastboot but still does it. This is extremely annoying as it usually happens when I want to make a call or send a message and have to wait while it restarts.

I took off my screen protector hoping that that was the cause of all problems but it wasn't. Too bad, also formatted my sd card again. Hoping that that suggestion I found here on XDA works... so far so good...
Edit; so far still good it only rebooted once while it was in my pocket... working trick?

Pffft; I thought it was solved but today all misery started again, reboot after reboot, when i use my video cam it stops working and I have to wait till its working again. That costs me today a lot of footage from my kids at the carnival.
I hate it when things don't work.
So far i tried:
Taking of screen protector
disable fast boot
wipe and format my SD card.
Someone any suggestions? Will a factory reset work?
Thanks

Too bad! Brought my sensation to the shop and they did an system update with new software, phone was working for one day and now the **** started all over again, it just stops working randomly.
When i take a picture it stops, when its in my pocket it stops... I hate this!
I will bring it back to the shop again now for a hardware check, probably that will cost me two weeks.... I just have my phone one month......
I came to this thread lookling for a permanent fix to the loading screen but unfortunately i did not find that. I can offer a temporary fix, which certainly is not what we want but something is better than nothing.
Go to manage apps, all then to htc sense and delete data. That will correct the problem for a while. Unfortunately u will look te wallpaper and apps on the screen and u will have to put them back.
Guys, come on you have to search a little better for the answer.... but here you go anyway:
There are 2 options I have found that will work. I have been using the first option for months now with no issue or problem. Sense keeps restarting when it gets low on memory so the system swaps it out. You can choose your fix from the 2 options below. The first one apparently changes the way the system handles the Sense launcher and keeps it loaded much better - it is the option I use (I have found that when you exceed about 420MB used for your apps then the next option will work better). The second option simply stops the system from swapping the Sense launcher out of memory completely. Both of these require you to be rooted and to modify "build.prop" which is found in the /system folder.
If you are not comfortable with this edit make a Nandroid Backup first!!! (If you screw it up your phone may not boot)
1. Make a backup copy of "build.prop" (I simply copied it and renamed the original to "build.prop.old" and left it in the /system folder)
2. Edit "build.prop" with a text editor (you can use Astro or ES File Manager)
3. Scroll all the way to the END and add one of the following lines as the LAST LINE in "build.prop"
Choose ONE of the following lines and add it exactly as typed here:
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=0
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1
4. Save your edited "build.prop" and reboot.
That's it. Enjoy!
*NOTE: I am not responsible for any damage you may do to your phone by attempting this mod or for any errors that may occur as the result of editing system files.
PLEASE hit THANKS if I helped you!
Mine only happen when im using widget sense friend stream. Not sure why it happen only during scroll the widget friend stream others app did not trigger the restart htc launcher..

try ARHD with No sense. Won't have such annoying problem happen again.
although the widget in Sense is nice, but with GO launcher and its widget in custom skin, feel satisfactory. at least it save ram and stop restarting which really annoy me.
This is really boggling my noodle. Last month I flashed my phone from G930T to G930U. No problems up until Friday when I went to take a picture and found my camera app kept crashing - weird. After much troubleshooting, I decided I've had enough and factory reset the phone. Seemed to be fine, got everything setup, BOOM, problem is back. After painstakingly going through the restore process again slowly, I found that the problem is coming from the camera and Samsung Gallery interaction. If all photos are in the DCIM folder, there is no problem. The moment I download a picture via the internet or Facebook, or I take a screenshot of my phone, since those pictures fall outside of DCIM (into the Pictures, Download, or Screenshot folders), the camera app crashes. It definitely seems like a cache issue with gallery/media storage, but no matter how many times I clear them, once the cache rebuilds, the problem returns. I've always had pictures outside of DCIM without issue and my wife, who has the same phone and I flashed the same G930U image on, has no problems.
Any possible ideas because I am completely at a loss?!

Tried, but it says it conflicts with a version already installed. I can't confirm it is the Gallery app specifically, but it is definitely somehow the camera and gallery are interacting for the cached pictures.

Enable secure startup in lockscreen settings, reboot, install apk again
If it's already enabled, disable it and reboot, the exploit just requires the switch to be toggled and phone rebooted, then package conflicts don't occur

That was sneakily awesome. Installing it that way worked, but unfortunately did not fix my problem.
I went to my last resort and reflashed the G930U files through Odin, and then updated it via the OTA before I did any additional setup, and that seemed to fix the issue. I have absolutely no idea what was wrong with it.

Ah well, at least it's fixed, and you learned a new trick in the process
:good:
So OTA seems to fix it in the 930U firmware?
So, I've been trying to change my lock screen image (as well as the app screen and such) for my HTC U11 but it will only let me use the default selections and not my own pictures...it was working a few weeks ago but it's really bugging me!
Every time I try to select my chosen images it says "Error: Could not load media" - there's nothing wrong with the image files and I've tried many different ones...
I tried going to the "edit current theme" and such but it just won't work! Even HTC customer support couldn't help me :c

Same here.. I deleted the Sense home data, restarted the phone - nothing worked.
Perhaps it is a problem on HTC's side..

However, a friend of mine with HTC desire 530 has no problems haha. Really baffling.

Doesn't work.
Also when I select a pic from the G photos itself, to create a theme for an example - it says the same - could not load media. I deleted also the data for the GPhotos - still doesnt work. I run out of ideas.
Can your gallery see the photos OK? It might be a permission thing. Try deleting gphoto cache and data, reopen the app and see if it asks for permission. The screen saver is linked to the gphoto app so the problem must lie there.

Gallery sees and edits the photos ok. Deleted and reopened everything possible. Nopermissions asked. No luck.
From this point I'll admit I'm stabbing a fish in a barrel. Do you have encrypted storage?.
Out of curiosity, are you trying to change from personalize or display settings?
Try edit current theme under personalize.
The error occurs when I select edit current theme using the Themes app and then try to load a picture from the device
Same Issue
I have the absolute same issue, I uninstalled the whole sense home app (therefore my whole homescreen messed up and all my icons) and it reinstalled itself and I restarted my phone and it worked, however it just updated again and now does the same thing
I'm having the same issue on my HTC 10. I've noticed the problem about 2 weeks ago.
Google photos got an update in the play store and the problem is now fixed.
