I have several apps not working for ICS (PyroIce 1.1.0) and. I'm wanting to figure out if it is bad installs or are others having problems with these apps and other apps as well. So I figured we can all help each other narrow down which are genuine compatibility issues with ICS from the app developer side as opposed to which are custom rom issues as opposed to which are installation (user specific) issues. Please contribute!! If this catches on I will maintain this thread so that those visiting it can add to it but will only have to look at this original post for the updated complete list.
Currently not running:
• Friendcaster Pro (installs but force closes when I attempt to log into facebook)
• Words With Friends (installs but has constant force closes)
• Shadowgun
If you are on ICS and successfully running an app on this list please post saying so. And if you did anything out of the ordinary to make it run please include that info.

The signature of this post lends to believe ICS is in play - maybe the issue?
Other people aren't having issues (noted in the thread) myself on my ROM and someone else on the stock ROM...
Trying to determine if ICS is the issue since it is not stable like our GB roms are. But there wasn't a clearinghouse type thread to determine rom vs user error/bad installation. That is what this is to determine since we may not have official ICS for a minute.

The only app I'm really having trouble running on my phone with ICS is the original freeware version of Pac-Man, and it's a graphics problem.
did you restore them as backups from other roms running gingerbread?
All of my app problems are on fresh installs from the Android market. I would suggest anyone with app problems on ICS do fresh installs as opposed to restores from titanium or other backup apps. That has fixed problems for me before.

NEW VERSION IN TEST PHASE - COMING SOON
UTB-ROM for the HTC One S gives you a clean, no fuzz, CM9/AOSP based ROM.
Version 2.0 marks the start of the future. As we anxiously await the kernel drivers from HTC, talented developers are making good progress on getting AOSP running smoothly. While there are still some issues floating about, its time to start building the base for the new ROM.
Description
You have two options. v1.0.6 gives you an AOSP-like experience but with the comfort of the original stock HTC ROM as base. Most things work as expected. However, if you enjoy living on the bleeding edge, version 2.0 gives you an CM9 based ROM which will get some bleeding edge extras along the way. Version 2.0 is still very early in development and is currently pretty identical to a stock CM9 ROM, but I wanted to give a taste of what is coming.
Highlighted Features v2.0
CM9-base
Google Play Music
OLED-Optimized ICS Boot animation (true black levels)
Latest Google apps included for your convenience
Note that this is just an introductory release. It is plagued by the same bugs as the other AOSP/CM9 based ROM's are. But we are making good progress and soon we will get all bugs figured out, Im certain!
Highlighted Features v1.0.6
Stock Android apps (Trebuchet launcher, Android Messaging app, Android Contacts, etc, compiled from source)
Stock Android ICS notification bar
Most of the included HTC apps are long gone
Based on the new 1.64.997.1 kernel
Zipaligned
Just feels good!
Changelog
v1.0.6
Picasaweb added (syncing works, uploading is still an issue.. maybe because of this)
ICS Live Wallpapers
Updated Gallery app (Now shows your online photos)
1.0.5
Removed CruiserPwrExpert - A ridiculous logging tool from HTC that does nothing but drain your battery.
Removed the HTC Gallery
Removed HTC Music
Added AOSP Email and Exchange
Added Google Play Music
Added AOSP Gallery
Known Issues v1.0.6
Unlock required before answering call (Hard to fix as its a compatibility issue with Sense)
The HTC Camera is for some reason not willing to open the ICS Gallery for previews.
NOTE: If you are coming from a different base ROM than the one you are flashing, a full data wipe is encouraged and recommended.

Yeah, I left the stock HTC camera app and gallery app. The reason for this is the unique features of the ImageSense chip which I didnt quite get to work with the stock camera app.
HTC's settings are also still in as well as the HTC Music app, but I might be removing that in the next version. Unfortunately, until we get AOSP running on the One S, it will be difficult to escape HTC's customized stuff completely. But I am trying to get as close as I can without breaking anything.
In terms of bugs, I am still trying to resolve answering calls without having to unlock the screen. Apart from that, I havent found any other serious issues yet.
Feedback is most welcome though. Ive just made a ROM to satisfy my desires and needs

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know the foundation is stable and solid.
Is there an easy way to change the behaviour of the app switch button in here? I'd find it more useful to switch between apps than as a menu button.
Hmm haven't thought about it. Just made more sense to have a menu button. If you long-click the home button you get the app switcher though

Problem is that when you don't assign menu to one of the buttons you get the onscreen menu button back...

The on-screen button doesn't really bother me. At least it tips you off that there are hidden settings in some apps. Over time there should be less need for a menu button anyway. Guess it's just a preference of mine, but very awesome ROM otherwise!
Shame there's no live wallpapers though.

Is everyone experiencing better battery life with this ROM? Also, what is the issue exactly with screen unlock? When you update the ROM, will we have to wipe? Do you know how long before answering calls bug is resolved? I happen to enjoy this version of Sense versus the older ones but I'm all for trying a "lighter" version of the OS.

To be honest, I didnt really use my device much before I flashed it, so its hard to answer the question of battery life with any certain degree of accuracy. But battery life is great for me and Im sure the new kernel doesnt do it harm either.
The screen unlock issue isnt really an issue, but more a HTC - Android AOSP incompatibility problem. When an incoming call occurs while the phone is locked, you have to unlock the screen first before being able to click the answer-button.
Hello..
very great rom.. i'd like to know if there is a battery mod for this rom!

1. You need twframeworks .. obviously cause ICS AOSP doesn't support an assistant built in.
2. Two, all of the resources are dependent on new ICS frameworks.
3. It won't work on this phone no matter what we do. We don't have TW ICS.
We''ll probably get AOSP, but for this to work, we'll ned TW.
4. Jelly Bean, Android 4.1/5.0 will have it's own integrated personal assistant probably, which will be 100% better than S-Voice.
-reasons
-better hardware at the time
-better API
-android integration(you need to open your app drawer to get to S-Voice. which sucks)
Will this run for me on ics Rom ? Can I just install or no
Sent From My Rooted 3D
no
first of all, I doubt that you are using any form of a Galaxy S(IDK why you posted here)
you are probably using an Evo 3D or an Optimus 3D, and there are "no" chances unless you have touchwiz ICS, which "ONLY" galaxy S phones can have. I doubt it can be ported to other phones like Sense UI can.
in case you didnt read, i mentioned that i used to own a galaxy s 4g. i passed it on to a friend and got a nexus s. No TouchWiz, and the app worked ok after modifying the build.prop a little.
just wanted to share here because i really liked this community. I'm grateful to all the Devs that made my old 4g run flawlessly. So i thought i would share some love.. BUT i honestly had no idea it was an ICS only app... so sorry.

If using apex launcher you can set it open by double tapping the home screen.
Hit menu then apex settings, behavior settings, and Desktop double tap. Select launch app and select S-voice.
I thought the double tap thing might be launcher related. I'm going to test Stock launcher vs Nova and see if that makes a difference.
Edit: No luck. Maybe it has to do with the S-Voice version..?
I tried installing it after connecting it via USB mode but it says "there is a problem parsing the package." My Samsung Galaxy S 4G has been rooted btw.

Mine was good for a while but steadily started freezing up more often. Looking forward to the new effort.
I did roll back to 7/22 with the new gapps (7/26). Found the voice search feature was not working (it comes up and acts like it wants to work, but never returns results unless you type the question). Anyone else experience this? I changed back to the older gapps (7/15) and it's working again.
First thing I would do if any app acts weird or force closes would to go to settings.. Apps ..find the app.. and clear data. If that doesn't work uninstall then reinstall.
For freezing issues I set my background processes to 2 in dev options. I changed vm heap too. Doesn't completely fix problem but helps out alot for me at least. Settings reset to default after a reboot. I read about this in the Captivate forum I believe and applied it here. I think there having the same issues too with freezing.

I am running the 7/23 ROM with 7/26 GAPP. The longer I am using it the better and longer it is going with out freezing.
When it locks up now it feels like when Windows runs out RAM. It will get slow and choppy if I keep pushing it the phone will freeze. If I exit the app and not push the phone it goes back to normal. I went 5 hours with out a lock up today using about a dozen apps. After the reboot I have played 3 games so far and 3 other apps. No lock up. Exited the one game when I got choppy.

Clear and reinstall of both 7/22 ROM and 7/26 gapps took care of it. (** and once again stopped working... something about this combo... went back to 7/22 JB + 7/15 gapps ...and patiently waiting...)
Also I noticed my Beautiful Widgets were not staying on my home screen after each reboot. They just pushed an update and now it's staying.
So this tells me the Swiftkey keyboard problem (mentioned earlier and nobody responded I believe) will probably be alleviated when they push an update. I am sure a lot of apps are pending Jellybean fixes.
I would go back to trying the 7/23 ROM but as Scott said, ultimately the code is the problem, so usage habits only go so far. Not waking up from a screen off was too much for me to stay with though.
Running cm10 7/23 butter with jbgapps 7/26 background processes 2, VM heap 128. No GPS for me though. Maps opens search works.

7/22 ROM + 7/15 gapps - Pretty stable, but definitely slower in all ways (missing Youtube).
7/22 ROM + 7/26 gapps - Voice search broken with this combination.
7/23 ROM + 7/26 gapps - Definitely faster in every way (background process 2 - must set again on boot). Still slows down/freezes for many (mostly with maps/web browsing). Personally experienced lock up after screen off on more than one occasion. No GPS.)
Hope that helps.

It has to b something with that combo bc I'm running 7/23 build with 7/26 Gapps and it works perfectly. Really quick at recognizing speech and bringing up the cards.
His summation of the different combos is accurate IMO. 7/23 with 7/26 definitely the best but does still have the occasional freeze. The snappiness of Google Now and that combo in general makes it worth the occasional freeze for me though.
Hoping that Scott's new build that he said is coming soon will have working Voice recognization with the 7/26 Gapps. I'm sure it will bc he seems like a pretty amazing dev from what I've seen.

Butter = insanely smooth
no butter = smooth
The release with butter has a bug that freezes your phone, which is being worked on. The butter release was taken down because of this. The release date of the butter version was 7/23. Install the no-butter one that Scott just uploaded and the 7/15 gapps and you'll be good.
Any tricks for getting Play Music to see the MP3s on my SD card? (7/26 build)
Edit: apparently you have to wait a few hours. They're finally showing up this morning .
Coming from 7/22 CM 10, GAPPS 7/26. Wiped cache, wiped davlik then flashed 7/26 cm10 then 7/26 gapps, no problems after boot.
Google voice search not working. Search works if typed in.

I'm wondering just in case GB starts to lose support from app developers. I'd like to know if ics is 100% stable at this point, and all features work. I'm all about stability and having everything work the way it was intended.
Bling is cool, as long as it doesn't introduce glitches and hitches.

Well, GB is pretty dead too, according to some here. But at least it's 100% stable. (at least the revenant rom is) But after perusing the JB threads, it would seem that there are still issues to be ironed out. It may be "good enough" for some, but good enough is not good enough for me.
I guess it looks like I'll be staying with GB for as long as possible. The only reason I upgraded to GB was because some apps no longer work on Froyo.

I still use GB. I would not describe myself as a heavy user though. I use the phone mostly for the call, text and camera function.
I like my gmail, calendar and contacts sync'ed.
I don't have all the fb, twitter etc
When I tested out JB, I found a few things I liked:
1. gtalk updated better.
2. gmail had other options. Scrollable widget. Calendar had scrollable widget also. Calendar has more detailed display
3. Chrome worked. Native Browser was better.
4. Google body (now defunct-ed) worked..it needed a 3.0+ platform.
5. I don't use it but others like the theme engine.
6. The weather update on the lock screen was a nice touch.
7. The quick launch from the lock screen was neat...although I don't usually use the lock screen.
8. Back up and restore apps is more comprehensive.
9. Google Now and Google Keep is neat to try.
There were others but I forget...
For my phone, I still like the simpler GB interface and the battery life (less processes running means less battery usage)
fwiw, Entropy said his cm9 was stable..and "dead" too. Supposedly he had a more updated one but never release. Supposedly, aremo/he may have a different cm10?..I'm not sure though...
My final thoughts...to each his own...find something that you like...

Stuttering with 720p recording...that's pretty major to a lot of people, although I myself can live with out it...it was a pretty major downside of jb/ics...on the occasion I wanted to get a video I really couldn't :/, but IMHO that one con doesn't weigh out the pros
But you can't say gb doesn't really have any features when they do have a fully working camera...just saying

But most people realize they're not going to be shooting hollywood movies with the thing. I'm not complaining though, it's good enough for what I need.
I thought ICS was the only version for the infuse with working full encryption?
I have 10GB of organized GB Roms/themes, ICS Roms/themes(lost files ), Tweaks for GB/ICS, all old recovery stuff, and 3 open source kernels Samsung had released. I have talked to 3-4 forum moderators for approval and I will be creating around 150 links for the infuse community for lost/broken links and there may/may not be broken but will all be on dev-host 4 u guys. I am hopping this will help u guys b4 I leave. I am hopping to make this post within the next week or 2 in the general section. Cheers
I am also going to be posting all the links to EVERY official post
Note* this is all I have left, I had a partition failure and I lost all I had but these files due to being on DropBox, I am still hopping to retrieve my missing files and Ken has been helping me all the way!=)

I am currently testing out my first ever custom ROM installation [Fresh & Slim 1.3+Native Tether hack NO Goodie Bag] *rooted a device for the first time 2 days ago as well* and I am running into some problems. iReader opens and selects a mobi file, but then crashes [Unfortinately, iReader has stopped.] Aldiko opens and select a book, but it never opens and there are no error messages. The Mobile Hotspot opens, configures, and activates, but both my Nexus 7 stock & my linux box is stuck acquiring an IP.
However, if I use Goodie Bag with Flesh & Slim 1.3, I am able to connect to the hotstop with my Nexus 7, but still no go on Aldiko& iReader. Should I just try another Rom? I haven’t found a solution to this issue through XDA forum. I thought iReader might require another stock app, but I couldn’t find any related information to that. Maybe it’s the same with Aldiko? I was able to open a mobi file with FBReader, but it’s limited to only some formats. All advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
[ROM][UCMC1][Goodie Bag] Fresh N Slim1.3 [Updated-5/22/13]

That rom is pretty old. You might try a newer one. If you're looking for something slimmed down try this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46066949
Would this be a recurring issue? If I use that rom, would I have to wipe and install another rom in a few months time as well? Would applications start breaking or newer / other apps wouldn't install at all?
What?

iReader is experiencing the same crash & Dailer is crashing with SUPERLITE AOKP JB 4.3 V1.0.
And iReader is still crashing with CM10.1... What am I missing? Does iReader require another application? I am trying iReader with a fresh installation of all of those custom Roms.
Use kindle.

No.
I loaded up my original stock GB nandroid backup and tried backing up the application and it's data and restoring it in CM10.1. Sadly still no dice. [Unfortunately, iReader has stopped.]

Still no. However it has been duly noted except for the consideration part.
Lol, I know kindle works. ireader sounds like an iPhone app anyways. Android refuses to run iPhone sounding apps. Lmao

It is not a iPhone app. It is made by a Chinese company / person.
