It has been a month now since i got my galaxy tab 7 plus - my first android device - wich is doing great till now.
I'm just having a strange problem with syncing contacts with facebook as it actually syncs the contact with the right facebook account but it switches the email info it gets from facebook between contacts and every contact has an email that belongs to another one!
I've noticed that this problem starts when i get the "facebook session expired" notification so i put my email and password again and every thing gets mixed up!
The only solution that worked for me is removing "facebook account" from accounts and sync + removing "samaungmobile" app from my facebook account and then comneting and symcing again.
I hope that someone knows how to solve this

I got my captivate on last thursday for $349 commit free. Great! Anyway, I migrated from a WinMo Tilt 2 that was hacked to DeepShining custom ROM with the latest winmo build. I was using MyPhone service to sync all my contacts online. Now that I have switched to android (and i love it), I need a way to transfer all my contacts from winmo to google. since the phone contacts refuse to sync with outlook on my desktop, i transferred all of them directly to my captivate using BT exchange. now the problem is that the phone contacts wont sync with my gmail contacts. any ideas on how to do that?
I think the best way to get contacts on to an Android phone is to import them into your gmail contacts list, then tell the phone to sync with your gmail contacts.
I came from an iphone, so I had all my contacts in outlook. You can export all your contacts from outlook to a CSV file. Then go to gmail and import your contacts in to gmail using that same CSV file. Then go to your phone under settings there's a "accounts and sync" menu. You can tell it to sync with google there.
At least thats how I did it. It worked fine, it synced all my contacts within a few seconds.
Agreed. I came from a Blackberry and just synced all my contacts to my gmail account, did some cleanup (easier to do from my laptop), and then synced it to my new phone. Very easy and quick.
Has anyone with Google contacts tried to set up a group? I have a work team that I text sometimes and it would be easy to send a group message vs add them one by one. When I go under groups on the phone I can not add any contacts (probably since they are all Google contacts). I also created the group through my computer but it does not show as a group on my phone. I looked for sync settings but I didn't find anything. Any suggestions???

The problem is my winmo phone wont sync up with outlook. Any clues as to why this happens?

I think this is a weakness of the Captivate. I have tried several options and none work perfect.
I ended up using "gsyncit" to do the Outlook to Gmail Contacts/Calendar syncing. When the Gmail Contacts/Calendar entries sync to your phone however (this will happen automatically), they end up in a single Group ("[email protected]"). So, I use the Android app "Groupy" for contacts and it keeps things sorted on my Captivate. Workable solution but kind of cludgy.
Groupy doesnt work right either...
1) Its slow as all get out, so slow it takes 30 seconds to load on my scree, then it pops up a box to "force close" or "wait". After another 20 seconds it finally loads...and this is with the latest update build as of 7/27.
2) When it does finally load, it shows my gmail contact folders, however the "Family" folder has 0, yet I have quite a few in that folder on Gmail contacts.
Bottom line, groupy doesnt work right, but worst of all a basic function to have your android phone sync correctly with your gmail contacts should work out of the box. PERIOD. I dont understand how this problem isnt at the top of everyone's complaints along with GPS and MMS?
This is still a big issue for me! Samsung needs to fix this and gps now!

Iam facing a strange problem with my HD7 since yesterday. I have made some addition and deletion in my windows live contacts. Now my HD7 is no longer reflecting/updating these changes. ( Previously HD7 was updating the contacts immidiatly).
Although I have kept my mobile phone's wifit on for several hours. Beside this I have access the hotmail account through HD7's internet explorer and have done a lot of surfing on my HD7 but still it has not updated the contacts. Am I missing some thing ?

is it getting your emails fine still? i know it's a bit risky and will mean your changes will disappear but worst case scenario would be to remove your live account from windows phone and readd it again.

It happened to me just after I edited and merged some contacts on my Windows Live account.
Now I'm not able to get all my contacts there to my device and I lost all avatars but the ones of facebook.
I think I tried anything but stills not working
wp7 doesn't let you to remove ur main windows live account
I found a strange & stupid kind of solution. I tired it 3 times and it worked.
Turn on the wifi. surf the market place and recomendedly install any free software. The problem will be fixed. All contacts will be updated.
I've got similar issue. Contacts will be synced, but none of the contact pictures... Tried syncing over WiFi and 3G, no affect. Even tried to remove and add pictures to contacts on computer see what happens then... Nothing, contact pics wont be synced...
Make sure your facebook account and windows live account are sync'd.
was having the same problem until i went to settings - email & accounts and sync'd facebook!
is there a manual way to force Facebook to sync with your contacts?
I have had a number of new Facebook friends added so I can link them with my phone contacts and get the pictures etc. It done this the first time but hasnt since.
May try logging out of the Facebook contacts bit and then reenter my credentials to try again
i think a long press on the setting for the FB ...i'm pretty sure this is in the tip n tricks.

taking about contacts I have dude , New contacts added to the cellphone how those contact get to the contacts in the email contacts because I made sync twice but the new contact that I added they are not in the account, any body knows how i can sync those new contacts thanks.

One of the accounts is a google apps account the goes with the email extension [email protected] Now ever since I added this account on my captivate all the mail shows up read on the phone and on the online gmail client. All new mail shows up as read and it is really turning into a problem because it is my work account and I need to know about the new emails as they come. I have tried reflashing, removing the account and adding it again and nothing has worked so far. Any one have any possible solutions?
I am having problems with g mail as well. It will not send emails out but I can receive with no problems. I tried the email client built into the phone and it sends out just fine.

are you using outlook (or any other client) to pull in mail from this address? My wife had this same exact issue and we had to change her gmail pop settings to "keep gmail's copy in the inbox" as opposed to "mark gmail's copy as read", which was set originally. So when Outlook pulled her emails in, it marks gmail's copy as read causing her phone's copy to be marked as read.

I have my primary facebook account sync'd from the setup/accounts page. I use this because it syncs the contacts in my messages and phonebook. I use the android FB app as the primary widget for this account. I wanted to add an additional account. so I used Pure widgets. However, purewidgets logged me into the primary FB account automatically. I could not get out of it.
Then I used Friendcaster. It did allow me (I thought) a partition or separation of accounts. Come to find out It recognizes the second account "sometimes". If I get a notification or a message on the second account it will sometimes open up the primary Android app - though it is not logged into that account. Anyone have this problem? It's getting kind of annoying now...

At first it was just the official Facebook app not being able to pull information telling me that "Your username or password may have expired. Please log out and back in." I deleted my account info from email and accounts and re-entered it, let it sync, and it gave me the same info. I then started using Seesmic which worked for a few days. Now Seesmic is telling me that it can't pull my Facebook feed.
Any one else having these issues?
EDIT: Got it. First I removed and resynced Facebook from email and accounts. I had to go to Facebook and remove Facebook for WP7 from the list of apps that can access my information. Then I had to manually remove Facebook from my phone, reinstall it, and now it works.
