I have my primary facebook account sync'd from the setup/accounts page. I use this because it syncs the contacts in my messages and phonebook. I use the android FB app as the primary widget for this account. I wanted to add an additional account. so I used Pure widgets. However, purewidgets logged me into the primary FB account automatically. I could not get out of it.
Then I used Friendcaster. It did allow me (I thought) a partition or separation of accounts. Come to find out It recognizes the second account "sometimes". If I get a notification or a message on the second account it will sometimes open up the primary Android app - though it is not logged into that account. Anyone have this problem? It's getting kind of annoying now...

Recently purchased the Samsung Omnia 7, while I know this is still is a up and coming OS I was hoping someone could help me to make do of it for the time being…
My main issue; is the People hubs, it seems to add all my email accounts and inorder for me to get to a certain phone number I have to go through endless email address.
Is there anyway I can change settings so the People hub just displays phonebook contacts and not email address?
If no is there any applications as a simple phone book?
Other small issue, the screensaver can I disable the time and date? So it just displays the wall paper?

1. nope. it will pull all your contacts for every account you add. i know what you mean as well in terms of that. the reason that there aren't any apps either is because there is no PIM API to access your contacts. so without this, there isn't yet an alternative to that. you can however quick jump the list by tapping on the accent colour square seperating each list group (looks like a [#] or [a] or ). and then quick jump to where you want. or you can hit the search button whilst on people hub to do a quick search.
2. again nope. this is how it is for all windows phones at present and i don't think it's going to change (add customisations) any time soon, unless we truly get a full jailbreak (dev unlocking is only thing rocking at the moment).
you can't disable contacts syncing from the primary live account. but you can for secondary ones. What i did was basically create a seperate wp7 live account and uploaded only the contacts that I wanted. Entered it as the primary account, which syncs all the contacts. I then disable email for the primary account.
Enter my proper hotmail account. Disable the contacts, calendar sync and enable only the emails. Rename it from Hotmail 2 to Hotmail.
That should get the job done.

Awesome reply!! Made so much difference.. the only bloody bad thing about this was inorder to make a hotmail account primary and secondary i had to reset the ruddy phone lol
my wife got a new d2g and the contacts wont sync to Google. this is the second phone she got in less than a week do to other problems, and the phone before this would not sync either. and it is just the contacts, the calender and the gmail sync fine. under the google account on the phone all the options are checked to sync and it shows the arrows that its trying to sync but when i look online there are no contacts. any ideas?
I'm pretty sure that it's considered normal behaviour. If the contacts weren't added manually after setting up a Google account on the phone, they won't sync, or at least that's what I have here.
My dx sync just fine and I set it up the same way. Not sure what the deal is.

Ok gonna take a wild guess here and say that you had the carrier transfer contacts from the old phone to the D2G and that would explian why they do not sync.
Look at the contacts (might have to go into edit mode) and see what "PROFILE" it says for each contact.
My guess is it says Phone Only.
What you need to do (and I'm going off memory since I am not running stock myself)
Edit each contact and in the menu there should be something that says NEW contact that will take the info from the one you are editing but ask you which account to make the new contact for. Select your GMail acct when asked and save it.
Then fine the gmail version of the contact you just made and select join or link and link it to the Phone only version.
This will give you one contact that has two profiles, phone only and Gmail.
What I suggest for anyone moving to Android for the first time is to get all your contacts into GMail (using above method) Import all your facebook contacts as well (You can do that through Yahoo Mail wizard and exporting to CSV then i8mporting into Gmail) and once your GMail has a complete and accurate contact list wipe the data on the phone and sync with Gmail to get all your contacts back. Be sure to make a backup of all your contacts on GMail once you are done to guard against future corruption issues and to be safe.
Cloud Contacts is not one of the best features of the phone but once you have integrated all your current contacts into GMail and joined them and Facebook into a proper list it is not a problem anymore.

I added (synced) Skype, GMail and LinkedIn contacts with my phone book and I see that sometime Android is triggering the linked contacts suggestion and propose to link (for instance) a Skype contact with a phone book contact.
Is it possible to trigger this process by hand? I hate to define these links every time by hand.
This triggers when you add an account and it syncs for the first time. No other way to do it.
I only added links to my contacts once. Then, i backed them up to google. Now, when i restore contacts (to a Sense ROM) they automatically link, no notification links required.

I asked this, because actually it shouldn't be necessary to link contacts more than once, even if I had this necessity. I can explain why.
I have:
1) 1 account on Funambol (my main phone book)
2) 2 gmail accounts
3) 1 LinkedIn account
4) 2 Twitter accounts
5) 1 Skype account
All of these accounts are set to be synced with my phone.
What happened: when I added the Skype Account, I decided to sync all contacts with my device. So I found all my Skype contacts in the phone book. Then, the contact connections suggestion has been triggered after a non precise period of time and I linked the contacts as usual. Then I removed a Skype contact from my PC. After doing that, I went into Settings->Account&Sync->Skype->Sync contacts but the contact I removed on my PC didn't go away from my phone book on the device.
I also noticed that the sync process was too much short (~0,1 seconds), and it couldn't be gone all OK as actually was.
So I decided to go into Skype settings and change the sync options to Sync with existing contacts; then the contact I removed using the PC has gone away from the phone too, and then I reset the sync setting to Sync all (first option).
This caused all my Skype contacts to be unlinked from my phone book (Funambol) contacts and the link contact suggestion has been triggered again after some time. Despite that, I had to re link many of my Skype contact by hand and you can understand that it is not so happy.
I didn't understand where the contact connections are stored. You say google account, but I'm not convinced of that. At least in my case. I've seen that after linking contacts, the funambol client had something to sync with the server but I don't know what it did exactly. By the way, I didn't understand why, the phone numbers I've put into the funambol account are not going to be stored also in the gmail account, where the contacts are linked together.
I'm in a bit of a strange situation apparently when it comes to syncing contacts.
Between my wife and I, we have 4 gmail accounts: personal for me, personal for her, our us account, and then one more for my online nickname.
What I'm trying to do is have our contacts synced between each account. I'm able to get our contacts synced to the google server per account, but I can't get them to propagate to other accounts.
Doing some searching, it seems the most popular method to do this was a third party website soocial or something like that, which is no longer working.
Ideally I want to move to a system where everything is linked to contacts (e.g. facebook, twitter), and we have one giant list of contacts between us (makes it a bit easier to keep data updated with our mutual friends/family.).

I use Outlok.com for my primary repository for contacts and calendars, however I use GSyncit add-on for MS Outlook (desktop) to sync my desktop Outlook contacts and calendars to Google. This way I can use Outlook.com or Google Calendar / GMail to access/share my calendar and access contacts depending on the situation.
Everything is working fine on the desktop end so that is irrelevant to this problem (so probably shouldn't even have wrote the above paragraph - but just in case.)
I see there is a new Google Contacts app on the phone and on the web. I noticed this when I clicked on the People app and it said the app was missing. When I go to the web version of Google Contacts via my Google account, there are no contacts there! All my contacts are still in Gmail though of course.
I see that when I attempt to edit an older contact on the phone, it first prompts me with which Google account I want to sync with. I don't need to sync my phone contacts directly with Google, I just want to sync with Outlook.com -> Outlook -> Google (via GSyncit) but I suppose it wouldn't cause a problem if I just had the phone sync to both accounts (probably will then need to disable GSyncit contact sync between Outlook desktop and Google).
What is weird is that it is like Google made the mistake of launching this new contacts app, but there's no notice or migration instructions on the changes with the new app. I just happend to discover something was "unhooked" by trying to edit a contact! I just discovered the new Contacts app on the web by Googling, Google Contacts. I'm technically saavy and somewhat of an Android Wonk, and am surprised this is all a surprise!
Do I have to go try to edit every single contact on the mobile Contacts app now to select which Google account it syncs with? I HOPE NOT!
At the risk of appearing dumb I'm leaving my original post for background. It appears this is (not surprisingly) all a Microsoft issue. When I went into the Outlook.com app on my phone, when you click on the Contacts and Calendars Sync setting, nothing happens! Come to find out this app is no longer on the play store. It appears to have been replaced earlier this year by the Microsoft Outlook Preview. Installed that app, and it doesn't and an account type to the phone! So it appears, unlike the Outlook.com app, it won't sync calendars and contacts with the native Android calendar and contacts app. It's as if Microsoft is trying to make you use their new app instead of the stock Android apps that just sync with the Outlook.com account? Please say this isn't so!

Unfortunately , by design, it is not yet possible to sync your Android phone contacts to your Outlook.com account.
Note: At the moment, you can only sync Outlook.com contacts to your android phone.
Please provide your suggestions/opinion as a feedback to the development team. To do this, click on the gear icon on the top right corner of Outlook.com homepage and select 'feedback' from the dropdown menu.

However, this isn't that big of a deal as I come to find out, even though there is no longer an Outlook.com account type on the phone any more, you can use the Exchange account type and use server address: s.outlook.com and then you can sync everything. Why the MS Tech didn't point this out it baffling.
