[Q] SD Card class 2?

Hi!
Is it stupid to buy a SanDisk class 2 SDCH card for my Sensation? Or does it not matter as long as it is SDHC?
I realy don't want a slow card this time and this new sensation maybe handles faster ones than my old HD2 did....
Please help to buy the right card

stick with a MINIMUM of class 4.

The classification of card is how fast the card reads and writes. This will help you understand....

I would go with class 10, for write and read speeds if you plan on watching movies or putting alot of content on the card, usually the bigger the card the higher the class you want...I have a 16gb class 2 and got a class 10 instead because it would lag loading all mp3's and photos

I have a Class 2 32GB Sandisk card in my SGSII, its fine for recording and decoding 1080p video, I suspect the same will be true of the Sensation (can confirm later, my Sensation should be with me later today).
If the budget is less of an issue then obviously you're better off with a faster card (not in terms of in-phone performance, but certainly for PC-card transfers).

I've found a SanDisk 16GB Class 2 Ultra .... is it ok? What does the ultra stand for... higher speed something....
Can you compare class 2 ultra with a pure class 4?

You can't go wrong with Class 10 just to be safe. I got a 16GB class 10 at Fry's for around $45.

Dont get a class 2 card......

I bought a 32GB Class 10 card. I bought this one.
The card needs special formatting in order for it to work in an Android phone properly. Otherwise it gets data corruption and eventually unreadable. Those instructions can be found here.
Once I did that it has worked flawlessly. No issues, fast data transfer and about 28.9GB of usable space. There are other Class 10 cards out there but I've seen issues reported on all of them. They may just need the same style formatting as this one.
DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT get less than a class 2 card. You will regret the time it takes to transfer files back and fourth and personally I don't recommend anything slower than a class 6. Here are some 16GB Class 6 cards for fairly cheap prices.

Does this apply for all SD cards or just yours? I'm thinking of doing this to my new SD card.

No, its vendor specific. Patriot cards are known to have issues on android.
Anyways, to your original question, anything but card capacity and class is irrelevant. The ultra is a marketing gimmick, nothing more.

Today I got my new 16 gb card class 2 ultra and in my test app the result was almost the same as my original one class 4 card.
I ran another test app and it reports my new card as a class 6 card.

How u tested class of you card..? except for what written on cover...

Some people have complained about video file problems possibly due to data transfer speeds...

[Q] Which MicroSD do you use??

Hi there, I just bought the Sensation and I started the research for a good Micro SD to use on it. On my previous phone (the Desire I have in my sign) I had a Sandisk 8GB Class 6 which never gave me any prob, but I'm reading here and there that with the size of the new ROMs having less than 16Gb would mean meeting a few problems when it comes to have more than a couple of nandroid on your SD, plus video & pics in HD require more & more space.....SO: I wanted to get a 16GB class 6 or 10 but I'm having quite a hard time to find a Sandisk one (I'm wondering if Sandisk even produce something like that...) and at the same time I read here & there in various forum people having some trouble with non-sandisk memory card
At this point I thought to ask all of you which card do you use and if and what problems did you experience with it(?!?)
Tried to use the search tool but couldn't find out much out of this subject...

Probably not. mmmmmaybe some choppiness on hd video playback, but more than likely the only thing you'll notice is it takes longer to transfer large files too and from the card.

Mmmmmm...still looks like Sandisk is winning with more then half of the memory cards in use out there!
But nobody told us any bad experience so far with any memory card....anybody there who lost everything due to mem failure or who wasn't able to install a new Rom due to his cheap memory card??

I currently have a Kingston 8GB Class 4 running and so far no issues, been using it in my previous phone and works like a charm. I have also ordered a Memorette 32GB Class 10 from ebay, but don't know if it comes or not as there were some problems after checkout. Hope it comes in the end so I have a lot of space for all the content I would like on my Sensation

6MB/s write, 20MB/s read. Works brilliantly, and pretty cheap off eBay.

Using 32GB class 4 sandisk. Satisfied with it and it hasn't gave me any problems. Pretty pricey though.

Hi all,
I'm thinking about buying myself a bigger SD Card soon.
I'm thinking about going for a 32Gb card, I can't justify splashing out for a 64Gb card IMHO.
I've been looking at a few cards, I've seen and heard that these are pretty good.

I have a SanDisk 32GB Class 4. Works fine, I got it on sale for about £16.50 which was a bargain.
IMO Class 4 or Class 6 is best for phones, unless you transfer films and things often
If you're going to buy a Class 10 I'd go far a SanDisk Ultra due to the better small file write speeds.

I have a question and need assistance from experienced members here, I have a HTC Sensation and i am also looking forward to increase my SD Card memory to max 32 GB Class 10, now i have doubts over this, kindly open HTC official site and check Sensation technical specs, it says that Expansion slot: microSD™ memory card (SD 2.0 compatible) and while i was checking the product on an online site, it says Fully compatible with SD 3.0 Standards, the product is Transcend Micro SDHC 32 GB Class 10. so my question is that since HTC says sensation is SD 2.0 compatible, will it runs SD 3.0 Standard card without any problems ?

[Q] SD cards

So, I have the choice of either getting a 32 GB Class 10 microSD card, or a 32 GB Class 2 microSD card. I've heard Class 10 cards don't work too well, so should I get the Class 2? Is Class 2 too slow? Thanks for your help.

For the record: I use 16GB Class 10 Samsung. No issues

Well, class 2 is pretty slow, but honestly you won't notice it. I'm happy with my class 6.
The class 10 cards are really pretty hit-or-miss. You can still try, though, but be warned.

I had a class 10 card when i first got my phone....had issues. I've since changed to a class 4 or 6, I forget ATM but I havent had anymore sd card issues since. Feeling lucky?

I have a Lexar 16GB class 10 in my A2 atm, and haven't had any problems. I've only had the phone for a couple of weeks however, so it's probably too soon for me to say anything definitive.

What brand? I have an 8 gig class 10 PNY that works fine in my ATRIX 2.

Well it really depends on how much memory you want in my opnion the more the better also how much can your device hold. Some device only go up to 32gb, I love my 64 gb sandisk class 10 running

Class 10 will be much faster, minimum 10Mb per second write speed. (If it really is a class 10)

I got a 16 GB Class 4 SanDisk microSD for around $20 or $30 while on sale. I find that you can often find these better known brands on sale quite often. Check weekly flyers of stores nearby.
Personally, I got mine from Tiger Direct.
EDIT: As for your two options, I do not need the speed that a class 10 microSD has to offer. I would just go with whichever is known to be more reliable. Exactly why I would opt to find a SanDisk on sale.

Odp: Which micro SD card is better?
Class determine only write speed not read. If you are using card simple as storage you dont really need class 10 but ofc copying files will be faster. Class 10 is recomended for making hi res movies, gaming or ( as mentioned above) swap. Personally i recomend Samsung class 10 cards, no problems and nice speed.

i would say go with class 10 it is the faster out of the 2
