[Q] Which MicroSD do you use?? - HTC Sensation

Hi there, I just bought the Sensation and I started the research for a good Micro SD to use on it. On my previous phone (the Desire I have in my sign) I had a Sandisk 8GB Class 6 which never gave me any prob, but I'm reading here and there that with the size of the new ROMs having less than 16Gb would mean meeting a few problems when it comes to have more than a couple of nandroid on your SD, plus video & pics in HD require more & more space.....SO: I wanted to get a 16GB class 6 or 10 but I'm having quite a hard time to find a Sandisk one (I'm wondering if Sandisk even produce something like that...) and at the same time I read here & there in various forum people having some trouble with non-sandisk memory card
At this point I thought to ask all of you which card do you use and if and what problems did you experience with it(?!?)
Tried to use the search tool but couldn't find out much out of this subject...
P.S. If you choose "Other" in the poll please then specify with a post which one you use exactly!

I have the Lexar 32 GB class 10. It works perfectly fine.

Sandisk 32gb, class 4, its perfect

SanD ftw! Haha

PNY 32GB Class 10 working flawlessly.

So it looks like SanDisk wins once again anybody else?

the Kingston 32gb class 4.

Probably not. mmmmmaybe some choppiness on hd video playback, but more than likely the only thing you'll notice is it takes longer to transfer large files too and from the card.

Mmmmmm...still looks like Sandisk is winning with more then half of the memory cards in use out there!
But nobody told us any bad experience so far with any memory card....anybody there who lost everything due to mem failure or who wasn't able to install a new Rom due to his cheap memory card??

I currently have a Kingston 8GB Class 4 running and so far no issues, been using it in my previous phone and works like a charm. I have also ordered a Memorette 32GB Class 10 from ebay, but don't know if it comes or not as there were some problems after checkout. Hope it comes in the end so I have a lot of space for all the content I would like on my Sensation

What would you guys recommend as a speedy and stable 32GB microSD card for the Galaxy S 4G? I was looking at the Patriot LX Series on Newegg but the relatively poor reviews concern me.
Given the pricing at this time, I'd go with an 8 GB, Class 6 card and wait for prices to drop on even the 16 GB, Class 6
32 GB or Class 10? IMHO waaaay too expensive at this time. Are you really writing that much data that often? The read speeds of even the Class 2 card that the SGS4G shipped with is comparable to Class 6 cards.
I've had good luck with the Transcend cards -- Class 6, 8 GB ~$18, 16 GB ~$55
well I am down to about 3GB on my stock 16GB class 2 card so I am definitely looking at 32GB microsd cards only.
I am honestly not particularly concerned about the price and I'd be willing to pay up to $200 for one as long as it is fast and stable. My current class 2 card is quite slow when loading applications and when looking through things like my pictures gallery which is stored on the card as well.

What does the -P3 buy you? The TS16GUSDHC6E card is only $55 at Amazon
Transcend's site doesn't suggest that there are tiered performance based on the suffix.

Patriot is some of the best PC Ram and SSDHD's you can buy for PC's. So I would assume based on the fact it's similar tech that their microSD's would be of similar top notch quality.

I bought the Transcend 32GB Class 4 about 2 weeks ago and so far so good. It did about 4MB/s writing (upgraded from a Transcend 8GB class 6) while copying content from the older card (about 7GB of data). I watch movies from SD, move apps to SD, snap some picks and shoot videos without issues. This is all on a KG4 rom if that makes a difference.
If you are going to copy large files (like movies) all the time, a faster card might help but the Lexar's are dang expensive!
Hope this helps.

[Q] SD Card class 2?

Hi!
Is it stupid to buy a SanDisk class 2 SDCH card for my Sensation? Or does it not matter as long as it is SDHC?
I realy don't want a slow card this time and this new sensation maybe handles faster ones than my old HD2 did....
Please help to buy the right card
stick with a MINIMUM of class 4.
The classification of card is how fast the card reads and writes. This will help you understand....
http://dcom.me/iS9nz
I would go with class 10, for write and read speeds if you plan on watching movies or putting alot of content on the card, usually the bigger the card the higher the class you want...I have a 16gb class 2 and got a class 10 instead because it would lag loading all mp3's and photos
I have a Class 2 32GB Sandisk card in my SGSII, its fine for recording and decoding 1080p video, I suspect the same will be true of the Sensation (can confirm later, my Sensation should be with me later today).
If the budget is less of an issue then obviously you're better off with a faster card (not in terms of in-phone performance, but certainly for PC-card transfers).
Amazon has 8gb class 10 for like $20

Hi!
I've found a SanDisk 16GB Class 2 Ultra .... is it ok? What does the ultra stand for... higher speed something....
Can you compare class 2 ultra with a pure class 4?
You can't go wrong with Class 10 just to be safe. I got a 16GB class 10 at Fry's for around $45.

Dont get a class 2 card......
I bought a 32GB Class 10 card. I bought this one.
The card needs special formatting in order for it to work in an Android phone properly. Otherwise it gets data corruption and eventually unreadable. Those instructions can be found here.
Once I did that it has worked flawlessly. No issues, fast data transfer and about 28.9GB of usable space. There are other Class 10 cards out there but I've seen issues reported on all of them. They may just need the same style formatting as this one.
DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT get less than a class 2 card. You will regret the time it takes to transfer files back and fourth and personally I don't recommend anything slower than a class 6. Here are some 16GB Class 6 cards for fairly cheap prices.

No, its vendor specific. Patriot cards are known to have issues on android.
Anyways, to your original question, anything but card capacity and class is irrelevant. The ultra is a marketing gimmick, nothing more.

[Q] 32GB SD Cards

Hi all,
I'm thinking about buying myself a bigger SD Card soon.
I'm thinking about going for a 32Gb card, I can't justify splashing out for a 64Gb card IMHO.
I've been looking at a few cards, I've seen and heard that these are pretty good.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005FQLN28/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&s=computers&psc=1
I've been looknig at the first 4 from this search: http://www.play.com/Search.html?searchtype=allproducts&searchsource=0&searchstring=32gb+micro+sd
The card I posted a link to first is in that list, I'm wondering about the classes though. Which class would be best? I've heard that either 6 or 10 are the best for phones.
Does anyone have any Exp. with one of these cards?
Cheers,
T-L-H
I have a SanDisk 32GB Class 4. Works fine, I got it on sale for about £16.50 which was a bargain.
IMO Class 4 or Class 6 is best for phones, unless you transfer films and things often
If you're going to buy a Class 10 I'd go far a SanDisk Ultra due to the better small file write speeds.
I use 32GB Sandisc card class 4, for me it's OK

I have a question and need assistance from experienced members here, I have a HTC Sensation and i am also looking forward to increase my SD Card memory to max 32 GB Class 10, now i have doubts over this, kindly open HTC official site and check Sensation technical specs, it says that Expansion slot: microSD™ memory card (SD 2.0 compatible) and while i was checking the product on an online site, it says Fully compatible with SD 3.0 Standards, the product is Transcend Micro SDHC 32 GB Class 10. so my question is that since HTC says sensation is SD 2.0 compatible, will it runs SD 3.0 Standard card without any problems ?
kindly answer as i need to take decision asap.

the best purchase atm is: Samsung micro SDcard class 10 - good price, good quality, very fast
Go for a class 10. I really notice a difference using my SLR camera when I swap between a Class 6 and the 10 - the 10 being way faster.

Class 10 all the way. I have a class 10 and it's slow, I wonder how slow will a lower class be.
I use class 10 cards in my DSLR, and would normally recommend them, however after installing CM7 on a microSD for my mother's nook color everything I read said your better getting a SanDisk class 2 than anything else, even in class 10. Apparently there is not a good standard for rating cards. I would recommend looking up specific benchmarks and choose from them.

I would not suggest a class 2 card as Android has issues reading it due to it being too slow. I have used class 4 and class 10 and I can feel a huge difference in the read and write speed.

Careful when buying sandisk especially online. There are some bad apolss out there selling improperly marked sd cards which say class 10 but really are just class 2.
Well Class 2 guarantess you 2MB/s, Class 6 6MB/s and Class 10 10MB/s.
6 is enough, 10 is better, see what you can afford.
Probably a tradeoff between speed and space.
Check how much space you really need.
Is it class so important?
I mean..when you have a class 4 isn't just enough for a smartphone?
Same thought. I have an 8GB class 4 SD card and i feel fine with it.

For just having media files on there, probably.
If you start putting apps to be run from there, you wan't as much speed as possible.
I think it much more depends on your ROM, not your external card. I have installed my apps on the ext2 partition and it does not appear to have any differences.

I havent noticed any differences between class 6 and class 10.
From personal experience, the speed of the card makes a big difference for the Desire because of all the app2sd games.
As someone mentioned before, brand and the store are also very important.
I bought a Lexar class 6 16GB and quite happy with it.
Make sure to do proper alignment on it.

I was thinking of this link coming into this thread, it needs to be a forum-wide sticky. For a camera, a class 10 would most definitely be required. But for Android, there does not seem to be a consensus.
Good luck
you should buy a class 10 dude samsung or another
Go for a class 10. If you aim for sales and such, you can get one for the normal price of class 6 cards.

I try both on my Sensation....i think Samsung is just a little bit better but noothing special.
samsung or sandisk
you should look at the sandisk mobile ultra 32gb class 6.
not the cheapest card, but I would say the undisputted class six speed demon.
take the class 4 one, you dont need the speed of a class 10 on the phone it's just wasting money
Have a search for one of the SD card threads which should have detailed benchmark data in. Maximum read and write speads are not the only important factors. If you mean this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-MB-MSBGAEU-32GB-Class-Micro/dp/B005FY61EK, I can confirm it works well. I benchmarked mine before I put anything on it and, in megabytes per second it scored:
Seq Read: 20.06 Seq Write: 12.10
512k Read: 19.82 512k Write: 11.86
4k Read: 4.777 4k Write: 1.270
4k QD32 Read: 4.917 4k QD32 Write: 1.271
The 4k read and write values are apparently very important for us as the phone will read and write lots of small files to the SD.
These speeds ECLIPSE my Sandisk 16GB class 4 card and explain why Android on my old HD2 was slow whenever I put apps n stuff on the SD card. Hope this helps you make your mind up. Try and find that thread : )

I've been using a 16gb class 4 sandisk and it works exactly as stated. Usually writes between 4-5 MB/s and reads between 20-30 MB/s. Its been very consistant and I've had no problems. If your looking for a dependable card id go with the sandisk.
