sslauncher is the best launcher that can costumize the appearance of your droid.

hmmm.... sslauncher? never heard of it, im gonna have to check it out. Not sure if i like the windows phone look though, but i love that clock!... lol... i will try it out and see what i can come up with.
Sorry to resurrect this thread, but why start a new one when it's talking about the exact same thing? I just finished manipulating ssLauncher to make my Play look more similar to the PSP.
I left it on different setup for the Cover Page when using Landscape vs. Portrait so that I could make sure the icons would stay in the right places. That's why I have widgets in the lower corner portrait and not in landscape.
The camera, phone, and messaging icons take you directly to those apps, but the other icons link to other launcher pages. My camera app is 360Camera, the internet icon goes to a page of internet-based apps, the music leads to a media page with graphic and audio apps, phone and messaging are stock, then there's the game page, then instead of a settings menu, the last icon is for all the other apps.
Edit: I just hid the background on my weather app, and it looks even better!
That one looks good, nice job.
Circle launcher is better when doing this

This launcher is really really great for customizing your Xperia Play, but it has a very very bad point: it doesn't have notifications (or at least I don't know how to enable them...).
I recently purchased a kirf device, the JXD S601, and it has an ui somewhat similar to what you all are aiming for. You have a interface designed around game and media access that works with the shoulder pads, at least on the kirf. Ill try installing it on my play and see how it fares.

I like it, you inspired me, I am doing a mod myself. Putting a LOT of work into it because I LOVE MY PSP and I stopped using it because of my Play, now I can feel better like I have it with me again! I'll throw up some pics once I get farther. I'm maybe 25% done but I'm still getting the hang of ssLauncher. Once I'm done though, it should look almost identical to my PSP!
EDIT: I uploaded the Original PSP Font in TTF so you can use it with this awesome launcher!
This is the direct backup of my current setup. I don't know how well it will work, as I haven't actually tried to use other people's themes. I'm going to try the PSP font from the post above this one. This backup doesn't have that font, it has a Sony Sketch font found in Rom Toolbox.

Removed probably becoz of this.
Gmail counter displays wrong (1 when I have no emails), kinda laggy. But have potential, I'm gonna look forward for new versions!

Thank you. But what can u tell me your phone model and OS version?I just have been tested it only on Nexus one and I9000.
Nice Idea.
Just installed it and had a play.
Feedback:
I really like the cube effect. It's super smooth. Only thing that a bit strange is that the cube is made up of a grey tint cube and not the wallpaper.
It would be really cool if you could 'wrap' the wallpaper around every face of the cube so you see a different screen each time you flip. Or have the option to choose a wallpaper for every face of the cube.
Be good to have a Master wallpaper which appears behind everything and then as above for the cube etc..
It has a little trouble skipping transition midway through, so if you flip before the screen has finished it's transition, the animation to the next screen it jerky.
When going from Helicopter view to the selected screen, you get this elastic bounce of the grey tint, I don;t think that need to be there at all tbh, makes it look like it's doing something it shouldn't be.
When I selected Fly in/out for the app draw it threw a wobbly and went to black screen. with that setting set it seem to do all sorts of wired things.
Also when I selected fad in/out it kept taking me back to the app draw, stuck in a loop.
Hope feedback helps:
On a Galaxy S.
Nice to see a home screen with more animations, makes the phone look special, keep up the good work.
Logicalstep
I can't figure out how to get to the cube effect. I think its supposed to happen when I click apps on the dock. If so then it didn't work on an evo, an epic, or a nook color.
@Buff McBigstuff
It's desktop animations like ADW EX
So far it's potential but still a few things that could be changed... Gmail counter is a definite must No new emails and I've still got 4 unread even if under gmail I have non unread the animations could be used a little nicer having the option to set something instead of grey would be great
Hey
This needs a lot of improvement.
The idea is very good and has potential to be a great launcher.
It seems that when I have the App Drawer set to scale that it runs into an error. I open it up, and when I press home it jumps to the homescreen and back to app drawer. The only thing I found to get out off that loop is Force Stop or reboot.
The Gmail counter is off also, showing 8 when I had zero.
Other than that I really like. Your 3D wallpapers are really cool too.
Should this work on my rooted G1?
What are the requirements?
I really like how you can change the background of the apps so it looks like the touchwiz UI and how you can change the animations when you change screens like in GDE.
The whole launcher feels very smooth.
I noticed one bug. If you change the desktop animation to cube and then scroll around the pages it always changes the wallpaper back to this wallpaper.
Other than that one bug I don't think there are any.
You should probably make users be able to change the icons in the dock and/or change the background of the dock and the icons for the app shortcuts in the dock.
Great app so far,
ljbaumer

Same bug here. Felt a little laggy compared to my current launcher (ZEAM).
Will keep on the device and continue to test as I like the idea of the cube transition animation.
Uninstalled and will never reinstall
I though your app had promise right up until it changed my desktop picture, to the ugle grey textured background. I will never...NEVER reinstall this app or any other of your apps. If you can not prevent it from doing something basic like that, you should not be developing Android apps.

Hey guys, ive made myself some custom icons as i wasn't really happy with what was out there. Ive set them up with Desktop Visualizer so they are bigger.
If anyone else is interested id be happy to upload them and share them to the community.
im also in the process of making a hancent theme to match, and the app market
If anyone does end up wanting them and you need a icon i'll make it for you, only if you request it like this
Application name
Colour you would like (if other colours end up being made)
So i guess this is my contribution to the community lol

Actual size of icons in .psd, so you can have them pretty big on the homescreen if you want.
INSTRUCTIONS
You'll need
- Home Screen replacement adwEX / Launcher Pro ect... ( I use adwEX so ive only tested on that)
- Home screen setup to 10x10
- Desktop Visualizer + config tool (both free in market)
- Folder Organizer (optional)
First setup your home screen to 10x10 and install DVR
Copy all the .pngs to the dvr folder on your sd card
Long Press the home screen and create a dvr config widget, place it in the top left corner and tap on it, set it to 10x10, exit out. Move it to the bottom right tap on it. It will confirm itself. You can delete that widget off the home screen now.
Long Press the home screen and create a DVR widget 2x1 for the size on my home screen or resize the widget 4x2 to have it double the size, or 8x4 for a HUGE one.
Tap on the widget to set it up, under "icon" select image and navigate to the dvr folder and image of choice.
Under action you can choose what you want the widget todo, ie; Launcher an app.
Leave the label blank, and touch effect to whatever colour you like. (im using blue)
When you are done, tap OK and your new icon/widget will be set up.
If you have folder organizer you can setup the app draw icon to link to the app folder via "other/folder organizer link/applications" in the DVR action menu. ( its how i have it setup)

No, as its considered as warez :/, but im sure if you google youll be able to find it.
I'd love to get this for my Tab (XXJID), but whenever I install a launcher (Launcher pro or ADWex) my tab reboots after a few minutes and is stuck in a boot loop.
Only way to fix this is removing the launcher in safe mode.
Do you have any idea how i could get this to work?
Does anyone know the actual pixel sizes for all the different sizes for desktop visualizer widgets on the tab?

Well so far I've tried ADWLauncher Ex, ADW.Launcher, Launcher Pro and GO Launcher EX.
So far GO Launcher EX is the only one that at least works for almost a minute, before the Tab reboots and is stuck (started through the finished installation notification).
Pressing the home button does nothing except vibrating sometimes.
I might be late to the party but here we go anyway:
HTC Evo: Invisible App Launchers (Ninja Apps)
The Video Tutorial:
The Text / Image Tutorial:
What you will need:
- An HTC Evo (probably works on other phones, but I don't care about other phones)
- A Custom Launcher Program (Launcher Pro & ADW EX are what I have found this to work on)
- A Transparent Icon (You can download this one)
- A Wallpaper With App Images built into it (You can use this one)
The process:
Here we have our main screen...you guys are lucky I just switched to the cm7 RC1 and did a full wipe otherwise you might have had to wait for the apk release.

Basics first, we need to switch to a wallpaper that has App images designed into it...the one I have is really nice but there are others out there. Look.
After that we will switch to the first screen we will be adding our hidden launchers too. On this screen you will long press to bring up the "Add To Home Screen" selector. Select the "Custom Shortcut" and then choose "Pick Your Activity." From the next screen you choose what kind of Activity you want, an Application, Music Playlist, etc...After making your selection. Choose ok and your launching icon will be added.
Repeat the above step until your icons cover the launching area of your desire. You can go into ADW or Launcher Pro settings and edit the number of columns and rows on the screen. This will help somewhat with making icons cover the icon area from the wallpaper. For mine I left it at 6 rows and 4 columns.
After all your icons in place it is now time to make them transparent...Long press over the icon and in ADW you will select "Edit." press the icon in the edit screen and choose the transparent icon you downloaded earlier in the tutorial. Repeat this process until all of your icons are transparent.
YOU'RE DONE...
Some tidbits and problems you may run into:
- They are kind of invisible but I still see the icon text... You need to go into the settings for your Launcher Program and select "Hide icon Labels."
- I can't get the icons to fit right over the images... This is not an exact process and will requires some trial and error, as well as, tinkering on your part. Some things you can adjust to help this: Adjust your wallpaper to different sizes and display areas, Adjust the amount of columns and rows displayed on your screens.
- Where can I find more wallpapers like this? My best advise is to look on the internet, it's how I cam across it. I do make custom wallpapers, but, they are not free ($1.99) donations.
If you have any more questions please post them and I will address them as timely as I can.
this is awesome thanx
Umm, there's nothing new about this. Lots of people have posted themes that use this method. I've been doing this since last summer. This might be useful as a tutorial on the basic setup of this method. Also, of course it will work on any phone. What is the apk file going to do? Maybe I'm missing something...
great
Wow! I hadn't heard of this before, but i love the idea and the tutorial. THANKS!!! I'm gonna have to scour for more wallpapers. Is there anyway to take the wallpaper you have in a layered version and remove a few of the images and swap in a few of my own?? ex. i would take out the facebook logo and put a cartoon pic of my wife/kids for my quick dial apks. etc... anyway, thanks for the heads up!!

Wouldn't the definition of a donation be giving to a public and/or charitable cause? You aren't offering the wallpapers for free to the community, then allowing people to donate to your cause. If that isn't the case, it sounds like you are charging for a service, not encouraging a donation? Unless you plan on offering the wallpapers to all once the initial request for a custom donation inspired wallpaper is received?

I've been looking also for something like this for quite some time also, as I've been using the blank icons with wallpapers to some extent already, just not all over. Just along the edge like this:
The full setup is attached in the Scrolling 2.0 Theme in my sig which also has links on how to set it up from the original author. I also created some wallpapers other than the honeycomb one. PM me if if you would like to check them out.
Its hard to locate wallpapers with the icons pictures built in as I'm not sure what to search for exactly or what the "official" name of this type of wallpaper/setup is.

I could be wrong about what he's using, but you can achieve the 4 day weather forecast like that with the Beautiful Widget's Beautiful Weather Widget. You just need to download that skin, and then disable todays current weather.
I achieved the same widget look using the Beautiful Weather Widget in the screenshot above. Just changing the skin (the skin you would be looking for to achieve that effect is called BrushedInk&Black), hiding the background, and hiding the current weather. Beautiful Widgets is a paid app, but its worth it for the couple bucks it costs, it looks great and is highly customizable.
I've been looking for an LCARS home screen replacement for Android. I've seen similar programs for Windows Mobile, and iOS, but nothing really for Android.
A few themes here and there, but nothing that truly provides the feel of an LCARS PADD.
With the growing number of Android tablet devices, and 4"+ screens on cell phones, an LCARS launcher could reach a greater number of people (and make money!).
I did some research, and found (pocketLCARS.com) which does a decent job, but I honestly think it can be done better, and for android.
Even the iOS version of "LCARS Star Trek" doesn't really do much, and is more of a novelty than a real functioning launcher/skin. (http://www.businessinsider.com/star-trek-padd-app-2011-7)
I found a Microsoft Windows exe and shell of LCARS that does a decent job, but it's no where near finished, and it looks as though the developer has run out of steam and stopped working on it. (http://www.lcarsx32.com/lcars/index.php)
Is there an interest in such a home screen replacement? I know I would pay $5-$10 myself for such a launcher.
I've been trying to re-verse myself on Java, and playing around with emulators and testing APK's on my phone, but it appears as though home screen replacement apps are on the higher end of difficult spectrum when it comes to programming, and no where close to the "Hello World" apps in which I'm currently making.
tl;dr
Anyone out there interested in a LCARS Android phone/tablet Launcher/Home Screen Replacement? If so, anyone know how to program? Willing to pay money for said app?
Yes, no, yes. I would love to have a LCARS lauchner, not for the daily use, but for home automatisation on the tablet.
There is a ADW skin, but it sucks. The most important thing would be a clean look like borders around every widget. Not sure if that's possible.

There is a ADW skin, but it sucks. The most important thing would be a clean look like borders around every widget. Not sure if that's possible.

I have a few concept design artwork ideas in my head. I will draw them later tonight or tomorrow.
Is it possible to launch android apps in windowed mode? Just an idea. There will be menu-bars to the top and left that can be "swyped" out and back in, giving more room for the screen. There would be a built in file-browser, in LCARS.
Skanndelus did an Enterprise skin for Go SMS and is working for one for Go Launcher Ex look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193763
I saw that. It doesn't look bad at all! But it doesn't look like "TRUE LCARS". It's a "theme" not an interface. But still, Grade A+ theme.
If I used GO SMS then I'd probably purchase it.
Still, it's the closest thing on Android that looks high-quality LCARS.
Apparently there's a launcher called SweeterHome that has an LCARs theme here: http://www.sweeterhome.com/ .. EDIT: actually looks like *several* LCARs themes available because of the way sweeterhome works.
EDIT 2: Wow, now that I have it installed... there are DOZENS of LCARs themes, all in varying states of completion. And many are more than just wallpapers. Unfortunately, it looks like nobody knows how to FINISH a theme for this launcher LOL.... they're all incomplete. Looks like the most usable one is Rusty_Trek... you have to set up all the shortcuts and widgets on your own, but other than that it lacks the blurry "wallpaper" look all the others have.
EDIT 3: Here's a quick video showing what it looks like in action. The logs screen is fully functional, btw, as is everything else. I just didn't activate them on the video:

i just tried this and i like it, now just a question, how do you change the apps launched from the theme buttons? For example i want to change the email app it launches. I tried to edit the theme and i unlocked this box. Now when i tap on it it says add an app, and when i scroll through the list that pops up the launcher crashes.
Same happens with the app bar below.

Hmm, mine doesn't crash. It took a little while to figure out how to unlock some of the buttons, but I was able to switch everything and it was fine once I figured it out. It's been rock solid for me.
I'm on Froyo right now, I'm wondering if maybe it has issues with GingerBread? What are you running it on?
I posted my homescreen for the htc legend some time ago here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10928474&postcount=275
Basically I used Launcher Pro and edited the Dock and some icons to make it look like the lcars interface... But there are no lcars animations or behavior...
i have the lcars go launcher theme mostly designed, but i wasn't able to export the apk due to not setting up the jdk properly. if anyone has any experience with this, let me know!

I would give a hefty donation for a cm7 based lcars rom. That way it could be easier to port to other devices.

Anyone out there interested in a LCARS Android phone/tablet Launcher/Home Screen Replacement? If so, anyone know how to program? Willing to pay money for said app?

I would be willing to shell out some bucks for a finished LCARS theme applied whatever existing launcher programs are out there currently. I bought Go Launcher solely so I could use "Skanndelus's" SMS / Contact List LCARS theme/skin. Does not have to be "Go" it could be ADW, MIUI, SPB, or whatever.... as long as it looks like LCARS and works on my phone ill pay for it.
LCARS Theme
Any new info or the apk for the LCARS Go Launcher Theme?
Hi,
are there any news on LCARS?
I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S2 and really would love to have something like an LCARS interface...
but, for me, the video posted on #6 doesn't really look like LCARS (wrong colors).
I tried pocketLCARS.com on my old HTC TytnII years ago, it really didn't look bad, but it was WM6.x, and touchscreen behaviour of that smartphone generation wasn't really meant for something like that.
Now, with devices like the SGS2 I imagine it could be just great...
Just goooooogling a bit, I found a boot animation, that IMHO already would look great as a startup:
http://androidforums.com/ascend-all-things-root/347609-new-lcars-boot-animation.html
So, just to answer the questions of the first post: yes, no and yes as well I would spent some money on a working LCARS interface, preferably working with a good custom ROM like Cyanogen, or for SGS2 users, VillainROM...
I'd like an LCARS home replacement, not just a theme....

Theme Template/Source
hi, do you have a theme template or theme source code i can get hold of to start doing themes for your launcher ?
thanks
Markyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Hi Launcher.... that reminds me of my Palm time, where i used a launcher with the same name. Anyway it is a nice launcher, just have to find out if
1 if i can hide the notification bar
2 if there is folder support to store apps
3 if it supports notifications for new messages, missed phone calls, new email
The cities for the weather are very few, it should have the option to choose other weather services with more cities. Seems also that applying themes for the weather widget does not work.
I like it!

More remarks:
Looks like the notification bar cannot be hidden, at least i have not found how.
There is no built in folder support lik many other launchers where you can drop icons on top of others to create folders. Personally i like folders much better then the used groups.
The dock at the bottom cannot be customized, i would like to put some other app shortcuts in there, also a slidable dock would be nice, to be able to accomodate more often used app.

I have 3 dock bars going. On the dock bar, while you can't change the main 5, if you have different messaging, dialer, or browser apps, you long press and you can switch from say the stock messaging to a downloaded messaging app.
I'd like to be able to create more folder sections. So favorites, Apps, Games, System, Newest, Times, Add I thought the add would create a new folder (say like a multimedia folder) but it drops in chosen apps from a list.
So I'd like to see it able to resize widgets, change the main first five dock icons, make new folders and rearrange their order. And maybe this is stupid but I'd like to be able to slide the folder area up rather than click and it pops up. It slides down...I'd like it to slide up.
New folder creation and arranging their order ,no problem.widget resizing still not available. Main dockbar icons change not possible, but selection of downloaded apps instead of stock one possible.

New 1.1 version.
HTC android 2.3.5
I like this launcher.
Anyone tried the latest Hi Launcher v1.8 with Samsung Galaxy S III with Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1?
It says "Unfortunately, Hi Launcher has stopped".
Uninstall and re-install doesn't work.
Anyone have the same problem?
