First off to get to boot options you need to hold Power+vol up+vol down, when turning it on. And CWM is working and is found here. I would not flash anything yet because I am not sure of the differences between the MB865 (American Version) and the ME865. Currently for the MB865 we have Super Charged ROM by lfaber06, it's a really great ROM, but I would hold off on flashing because of the edits in build.prop. If the radios are the same between the two versions there shouldn't be any problems. I shall ask someone who knows more about the differences between the two modes!

As far as I know everything is different between Mb865 and Me865 except CPU and GPU. I would not flash stuff from this forum. The best thing for you would be to do research in chinese forums

not yet. the latest version 1.3.18 which includes the new radio, as you know, has not been rooted as of yet, and im pretty sure the xt comes with this version as well. unfortunately i found out the hard way as i bricked my phone in the process of flashing a rooted rom with the latest radio img. we have to wait a little bit longer
Just picked one up as well. I really like the phone its fast and everything works but root would be nice. We need more devs on this.
I hope this phone gets rooted soon... I just got one and all these preinstalled apps are annoying me.
Well I have learned a few things messing with my Cliq XT
1. Bootloader USB - Hold MENU (blue screen)
2. USB FASTBOOT MODE, Recovery Mode - Hold Power + Camera

Mine says safemode on the bottom left when I held down menu during boot and I never got a blue screen. Did I do it wrong?

That's for the regular Cliq but thanks for the thread it was a good read.
I'd love to see root as well missing it after the upgrade from my G1. I've been trying to find some kind of thinktank on this topic but all I can find is people asking about it. Are any devs working together on this? I'd like to help out.
omg for real i want root ugh..has any1 heard anything ????????
umm possible root access for cliq xt??
ok im not sure im very good with technology and electronics but new to the rooting thing. i downloaded astro file manager and i can see all the files within the phone memory not the sd card. now maybe this has already been figured out just no one has done any hacking yet or maybe a new discovery but if so im assuming this would make rooting all android phones easier.
please give some responses on this and i hope im on to something because i cannot wait for 2.1 anymore!
Quench rooted in Brazil
Here in Brazil we already have root for Quench/Cliq XT.
Big thanks for paulogeneses from Protal Android.

Wish I could read Portuguese better. Looks like you really have something but I can't understand all of it.
Can you interpret it for us or just the main parts with the downloads and apps?

Hi everyone,
Unfortunately, our root method only works for Quench users. Cliq XT users won't be able to do it same way.
We obtained some progress in last days. We got a Custom Recovery for Quench and also offer a retail firmware to be installed through this recovery.
The link to our custom recovery is: 4shared.com/file/IqwapK4-/Custom_Recovery_Quench.html
What you, Cliq XT users, can do is try to install this custom recovery and then you can install any firmware for both CliqXT or Quench.
We also offer a brazilian firmware where it is possible to root, since you can install it on your phones.
This is the link: https : / / rsddownload.motorola.com/download/ZEPLA_U1_0.12.196-P4-v1.0-svn16-USAZEP01TIMBRLA012-GAS_LA_GSXZPLNTIMBRLA_P020-CPv0.3.2-TIMBR-upgrade-customer-secure-UPGRADE.sbf.gz
If you can install the custom recovery, pay attention to some observations:
1) When performing the restore, the button to confirm the action is the camera key, not the home button, as showed in recovery.
2) We provide the dump of a Brazilian retail firmware to be applied with the custom recovery: 4shared.com/file/9lYfDpAY/nandroid.html
Please, if someone is willing to try, feel free to ask any questions and keep us informed of your progress.
Regards.

I can tell you that with astro file manager you can see root files, and ive confirmed that this phone doesnt has the su file so you cannot use superuser obviously but you can run any command there is in the phone. I was wondering if I could take control by putting a su file and chmoed it to make a superuser commander so the phone does everything you tell him... I mean it is linux so I think all it needs is the su file.
Another thing i noticed was that if you typed on a terminal anything that isnt a command some gibberish it will say "Permission Denied" but if you type any command that is in the phone itll do it without authorization...
Just some thoughts...
Oh BTW MisfitsTimmy show us your findings with that custom recovery thanks in advance!

[Q] Help with post rooting

Hello everyone,
im am new here and i need some help. I just rooted my samsung captivate and i honestly have no idea what to do from here. I wanted to make it all cool and stuff but i have no idea what i am doing. Help would be appreciated.

Install Rom Manager and flash CWM Recovery and then pick a custom rom of your choice.
I suggest that you do plenty of reading in the forums, especially the stickies, before you do anything. It's best to have a good working knowledge before you get yourself into trouble.
+1 for reading
I would not flash anything till you know:
The build number of your phone
What odin is
What clockwork recovery is
What three button combo is
What download mode is

Other than installing ROM Manager, using Bay_wolf's AIO software will greatly reduce the human error involved with flashing. Check it out as well. Personally I haven't found ROM Manager to be particularly useful, but that's probably because I'm on Serendipity.

I must agree with Wonner. I'm somewhat new to this (although I have some amateur developing background) and reading before doing anything would've saved me alot of trouble. I managed to fix just about everything with stickies!
My advice: Be patient and take time to really learn about what you're doing before anything! Oh and also, BACKUP
If you just want "to make it all cool and stuff" I would play around with different launchers until you reading enough about flashing and how to unbrick your phone. You could end up in a world of hurt if you don't know what your doing.
Then when you feel like you know what you are doing and are ready to flash your first rom, read some more. Also learn how to back up your phone. Learn about build numbers and how your phone enters recovery mode.
"Knowledge is power" - Lawrence Fishburne (Higher Learning)
Theres apps for different types of launchers...
But if your looking into roms. As stated above know and make sure your phone has the 3 button recovery and download mode. If not then its smart to invest in a pre-made jig from ebay or make your own just in case. It's really hard to hardbrick these phones so dont be to scared.

[Q] Samsum Galaxy Fit No Boot

Greetings.
It doesn´t boot.
First details:
Galaxy Fit rooted and 2.3.4 Gingerbread (worked fine)
I downloaded rom-manager and wanted to change to custom roms.
So far.
As I tried to install clockwork I found this in your forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339640
and did everything exactly written there
then restartet, started rom-manager and chose the first option (Clockworkthingy).
As there was a choice of the device, I didn´t find my device and chose the last in list (which did´t work and then I picked the first in list and accepted.
downloaded syanogen 7.0 and after download and backup-chose it told me it would reset and start in recovery ... that was the last I´ve seen from my galaxy ...
Is it broken now.
Please help!
note: tried to start recovery with vol+, home and power as well as usual way to start it. without success
Come on. Some of you Guys are able for sure to tell me, if it is hopeless or there IS something I can do to get it working again.
I know nearly nothing about Smartphones and stuff so
Please!

Sorry to say that your phone is bricked.
First, rom manager doesn't support your device.
Second, you are an idiot that you selected unknown device from list to make it work.
Third, the thread doesn't have any tutorial about rom manager it is CWM that is meant to be flashed using odin.
Fourth, I probably this is hard brick and nothing can be done.
IN MY VIEW GO TO THE SAMSUNG SERVICE CENTER AND TELL THEM THAT YOU LEFT YOUR FOR CHARGING OVERNIGHT AND ITS NOT BOOTING.
THEY WILL SURELY HELP FOR FREE AS THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU DID AND THIS IS AN APPROPRIATE REASON.
Thank you for your honesty.
Your phone still can be fix up. Your phone not brick yet.. Your phone might get bricked if it running out of battery during flashing, like a half way flashing, then you are in the worse case scenario.
Recovery mode unavailable? Forget about recovery since it has been.broken. What important now is to get access to download mode by pressing vol down + power + home key. If you can access download mode, then your phone can be fixed in 5min.
Read this, before you go any further, if you sure that you already successfully flashed any rom before it went brick. Just do this simple step, for cm7, u need siyah kernel, go download (siyah 2.1.1 .tar)... Not .zip.
Remove your battery then put it back, get into download mode then flash siyah 2.1.1 with Odin 1.85.if your phone already flashed cyanogenmod7, then your phone should boot up and work properly.
If it doesnt work, click the link on my signature, follow all steps provided tp get back your to work as stock. Then start flashing again.
Ps : dont use backup, dont use romanager.

My guide is for SGS2 International. Not ATNT, please find stock rom for your phone version. But the flashing method are just the same..

Thank you for your efforts neobirdrio, but as I wrote above, nothing works.
No combination with vol+ or - and the 2 other HW-Keys.
But if we are still in Topic, what exactly do I have to do with an intact Galaxy fit to flash it to a custom ROM.
What Custom ROMS would run with it?
Where Do I get the Newest Version?
And is it worth changing it?
I wanted something special, something faster than Gingerbread and (of course the original Froyo on it), including something needs less Space.
Could you advice me?
(I ordered a new one swince it happened)
Try read this post,

Still trying this out.
Did it in this way press three Keys, push batery in and so on ... One time on my netbook it came to life by meaning system told me, that it installs driver (seemed to be recognized right) and ODIN told, there is a connection. I started ODIN (which was prepared to do Gingerbread onto it) But it did nothing. I am not sure if I startet Odin with Adminrights, soooo ... Do now backup of the partition, put a much earlier backup on my PC and try it again (I am running out of PCs, so I simulate, that this is a new Computer )
I keep you informed.
Thanks again so far.
Tried it again, but it didn´come back to life
So Thanks to all ppl helped me.

[Q] New to Moto phones, can you cans help me understand some stuff?

So, the Atrix 2 is my first motorola android phone. On my Captivate and Aria, everything in terms of hacking was very clear and easy to understand. you root, flash CWM and off you go. On my Atrix 2, I don't understand any of this crap. Can you guys help clear it up?
1.) I flashed the Bionic CWM like many others and can't boot into it (like not even through ROM Manager)
2.)I read some stuff about bootstrap. What is this? I know you have to have it to boot into CWM, but I have no idea how to get it or what it is.
3.)What does a locked boot loader have to do with a custom recovery and how does that affect anything?
4.) What is this fastboot thing? I downloaded the 470 some odd meg zip because I heard it could help recover a soft brick, but how do I use that or flash it or where do I put it? I'm so bewildered with all these new things.
If you could please answer and help clear things up that would be greatly appreciated and if there is anything else important, please help me understand before I try anything and screw up.
I'm only 14 so it's hard to understand a lot of this stuff hahaah
Take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650, this should answer most of your questions and if ya have any after that then just let us know. Hope you are enjoying the new phone

1. We don't yet have that ability, but with the sfb/fxz out now i'm sure it's just a matter of time.
2. Not really sure how to explain that
3. Because alot of the framework is locked due to the bootloader, the devs haven't been able to come up with a fully functional recovery, limiting some functionality of the recovery's that are out there.
4. Not sure as I haven't looked in to it yet

[Q] Help! Searched for solution for hours.

My Atrix 2 is currently having some serious issues. Last night I rooted it. I changed the boot animation to what was supposed to be a human eye turned droid eye or something. When I rooted it and attempted to install Safestrap it didn't install correctly. As I am inexperienced with rooting android phones, I didn't think it'd hurt. I don't know if it did. When I rebooted to see the animation it just said android in silver letters with light flashing across it and it never got past that. I did several hard resets to see if that would fix it, after trying multiple battery pulls of course, and nothing. The phone is now dead and won't charge, when I plug it in it just shows the Motorola logo and doesn't do anything, but if I unplug it the logo doesn't go away. Help, please!

Phew, that was close. Hello and welcome to the help section of the A2 forum, for starters the trouble you're facing right now is called soft bricking. It's a very common problem, but is usually solved by flashing the correct ICS sbf for your region.
So firstly, is your phone branded AT&T or is it from another region? Please specify which. Next you need to recharge your battery externally either by an external battery charger or the Mcgyver method. (search the forum for more details).
After you've charged your battery up enough, put it back in your phone and put your phone into fastboot mode by holding the volume down button + power button and make sure it says 'Battery OK'.
After making it this far, you'll need RSD lite order to flash/install the sbf files. If everything goes fine without failure, then your phone will be back to stock and you've saved it! Here's a thread that has content that should guide you with further details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245825 Good luck!

You're welcome  I'm glad it all worked out for you in the end. I still remember the time earlier this year when I just got my phone, went crazy with mods and ended up softbricking it for a whole week. It was hell just to get it working again cuz RSD Lite decided to hate me from the get-go. -_-
So I'm glad to help others out with this, but enough rambling lol, take greater care for the next flashes you do until you get used to it!

Well now that you're back and rooted, if you're planning on doing any more flashing any time soon then I recommend you install boot menu manager. If you've previously installed safestrap or bootstrap, clear their data and uninstall them before installing bmm.
With that done, you've just made your phone a little safer from bricking because bmm allows multi rom booting, which are somewhat independent of the primary system. Refer to this thread for more info on how to make systems, etc.: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2115715
The first thing you'd want to do is make sure your apps/data is always backed up at all times with apps like titanium backup. Create 2 or more systems so that you can try the bmm compatible custom ROMs which are in the dev section if you want to try any of them. But please, read all instructions, warnings, requirements, etc. carefully before attempting any flashing in general.
The thread I posted in my earlier post above will have links to the specific custom ROMs. If you're doing any other kind of flashing, make sure to again, read instructions carefully and take your time with learning all of this.
Hi, I soft bricked my phone recently.
I was running stock ICS from Moto on a rooted Atrix 2. I wanted to upgrade it to JB so I installed Atrix 2 bootstrap and clicked Bootstrap Recovery (gave superuser permission) and then Reboot Recovery. It went into CWM and I wiped factory data and cache. Before I installed the JB zip I backed up my old ICS via CWM and then installed CyanogenMod-Dev-edison-nightly-20130401-2132-signed.591fan.com zip.
It was upgraded successfully to 4.2.2 but I couldnt get my updated contacts from the Super Recovery app, so I thought to restore the old ICS and backup the contacts once again. I installed Atrix 2 bootstarp apk again and went thought the same process ( Bootstrap recovery > gave Superuser permission > Reboot recovery). As soon as it rebooted the Motorola logo came on and after that the phone gave dark grey screen. I tried rebooting and going into CWM on startup but it didnt give the option of install zip from sd card as it did on my earlier attempt.
I am stuck with a bricked phone and all my work is stuck up.
I read about RSDlite but I have heard it causes hard bricking on several occasion. So, I am a bit cautious about using it and I dont know the exact procedure to use it also. Can you please guide me on how to regain my phone from this soft brick and where i went wrong during my installations.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.
