I do know know most people here are American but I am looking for one thread that talks about the risk of putting a "Skyrocket ROM" in a "Galaxy S2 LTE"
1) Is it true AT&T and Rogers use the same frequencies?
2) Is it true hardware wise a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and Galaxy S2 LTE are the same?
3) General Speaking a ROM that says it is for Skyrocket change the APN and it will work with LTE? Rogers APN settings?
Many developers call their ROMs xxxxx skyrocket ROM I want to know if they need to be avoided or with a simple APN edit will they work on Canadian devices.

The answer to all your questions is yes.
Take any ROM from this section and flash it on your I727R and it should work.

1) Rogers LTE is on AWS (1700) while AT&T is on 700mhz. However, the phone supports both 700 and 1700 bands.
2) Yeah they're the same phones. Even the SGH-T989 and T989D are almost identical in hardware, except the LTE chip of course.
3) Pretty much

AT&T UTMS/HSPA/HSPA+ bands: 850MHz, and 1900MHz, only one required to work.
T-Mobile UTMS/HSPA/HSPA+ bands: 1700MHz, and 2100MHz, both required to work.
Bands that Samsung Infuse 4G has: 850MHz, 1900MHz, 2100MHz.
Bands needed for Samsung Infuse 4G to work on T-Mobile 3G/4G: 1700MHz.

its not that crazy of a question nowadays with carrier branded phones being so close to one another. you can actually flash a tmobile radio onto a skyrocket and have 4g hspa-dc through tmobile. but even if the infuse hardware was capable of tmobile bands (which it probably isnt), theres no tmobile version of the infuse inwhich to pull a radio. so the answer atleast for now is no.

According to that, their phone has an LTE radio... which means even the radios between our phones are the same..
I did some research, and I learned that our Skyrocket is a pentaband phone.
HSPA+: 850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100.
And having 6 LTE bands....
This is probably the best radio made by Qualcomm... ever.
But I thought the Exynos chip could not support LTE? Only the Snapdragon..
Both phones have snapdragon processors.

Yes, our T-Mobile Galaxy S II people are trying to see if we can activate the LTE radio on our device by flashing your modem.
If you are interested you can try flashing our modem to see if your phone can use AWS (1700) on T-Mobile / Mobilicity / Wind.
Our modem is here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/11883-odin-tmo-sgsii-modem-collection-team-kang12142011/
Note that after flashing our modem your phone will lose LTE. After you are done testing you can flash back your own modem which is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384865

I've been following both threads and it sounds like Telus/TMobile radios does work on our LTE device? I'm travelling to Orlando later this month and would love to use their 3g data prepaid plan instead of 2g data.
It sounds like all I have to do is flash the Telus radio before I leave and I should be able to use Tmobile's 3g network? Then when I get back, flash it back to the Rogers radio so I get LTE back? Does that sound right? Thanks!

I've been doing some research... the MDM9200 (modem in the Skyrocket) has LTE (Band 17 and Band 4, I also found a device with Band 13 but not sure if it's included in the SkyRocket) and it has HSPA+ Release 8, which means DC-HSPA. This means the by flashing a Telus/T-Mobile radio, you could theoretically get the same speeds that the SGH-T989(D) gets. I also found an MDM9200 device that states it has HSPA+ 850/900/1700/1900/2100 so that means that this modem can handle a LOT of bands, it just depends on which radio you flash.
Alright so I got my Skyrocket and flashed the latest T-Mobile Modem. AWS HSPA+ works perfectly fine, voice quality is actually much better than it was on my Hercules. I restored my setup from my Hercules and just changed the TDJ kernel to Da_G (waiting for them to make a kernel for the Skyrocket).
So that settles that once and for all. This phone has HSPA+ 850/1700/1900/2100 (and it's DC-HSPA so the max 42mbps is enabled if you flash a T-Mobile/Telus radio). It also has LTE 1700/700 with the 700 being band 17. I'm really hoping Wind gets the lower B or C block so I won't have to switch phones if/when they deploy LTE.
The Skyrocket has everything the Hercules has, with just MDM9200 over the MDM8200 in the Hercules. If you google online, the MDM9200 is like the MDM8200 just with LTE on top.
Once again, this phone is in fact amazing lol
Guess I should change my username if i could lol "SGS2LTE"

Is Samsung P6200 Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus capable of 3G/HSPA+ in US & Canadian networks?
Im planning to purchase this particular product and upon checking the specs, I only see 900/1900/2100 bands in its UMTS/HSPA band info. It lacks the 850 band on UMTS/HSPA which is essential here in the US and Canadian data connection. Any info is greatly appreciated.

850 is only supported with edge data connection. If you need that for 3g or hspa+ you are out of luck.

Thanks for your info. So I guess Im better off getting the Galaxy Tab 7.7 instead because its quadband on UMTS/HSPA which has 850 band. Its just more expensive though.

Are you out of your mind? You will end up bricking your device if you flash a different baseband. It's not a software problem, if the radio does not support a specific band there is nothing that you can do to make it work on that band.

Anyone actually try switching modems with these devices yet? I've got an itch to try it myself, but really don't look forward to getting burned.
flashing modems fro P6200's shouldnt be a big issue. flashing a tmobile modem onto P6200 could be dangerous. Although you should still always be able to flash a P6200 modem.
from my experience, modems are fairly interchangeable.
Recommend flashing with Heimdall or Mobile Odin.
remember tmobile modem does not have voice.
Ok well i know that it is possible to get T-Mo's "4g" HSPA+ on this device. However, i have not found a clear answer as to when t mobiles 46 lte launches, will an unlocked at&t i727 be able to work on this t-mobile 4g lte. I am stuck between whether i should buy the t989 or an unlocked i727 and use either one on t mobile and this may affect my decison.
Thanks.
I never heard before about "T Mobile LTE !!!" ... T mobile is using HSPA 42 in its best markets ... If you're in a good coverage area from T mobile or you only want to use it , I would say just buy the T mobile S2 and be done with it ... At&t SR even if unlocked and T mobile radio installed in it would not have the full speed for T mobile or aka 4G (may get 3 or 4 mbps DL max) ........
This thread is relevant to my interests. T-mobile LTE will be Band 4, so does that mean the i727 won't work? Or does it have that band and they just aren't advertised? ATT does have some Band 4 holdings, so it's reasonable that they would want the i727 to work on LTE in those areas too.
If you get into Service Mode (*#2263#) and look at LTE bands, it's shown there. Don't know if it means that the phone is able to work with it, but might be.

FYI - This only works on Touchwiz ROMs.
if and when tmobile launches lte a t989 won't be able to use it anyway, no lte radio, the fastest that phone will ever achieve is h+ (fake 4g) speeds.
an unlocked skyrocket will allow lte usage, on bands 700 and 1700, so with the correct radio (i757m modem from bell) u SHOULD be able to access it

an unlocked skyrocket MAY allow lte usage, depending on the lte band they use. It'll probably be 1700 AWS though, which is an lte band I don't believe the skyrocket supports, only 700.

I thought the reason AT&T included the 1700 AWS band was b/c they were planning on turning that spectrum into LTE if the acquisition was successful. If so, wouldn't that mean that the 1700 band on the Skyrocket would support LTE Band 4?

Just saw this very recently:

If I'm not mistaken, the Note has the exact same radio setup as the Skyrocket (AWS and 700Mhz LTE). So, it's looking promising for our phones to work on LTE, too.

Yes..I'm sorry...I didn't know that at the time I replied..They have LTE and ironically we skyrocket owners can access it and the T-Mobile s2 owners are left being lol...
Is there any way that we could enable the AWS bands on the HTC One X like what is possible on the Galaxy Note and SGS II Skyrocket ATT variants? They flash a different radio on those phones which enables AWS using the LTE bands because the LTE bands are on the same AWS bands.
From what ive read, no, it doesn't work. People have been trying to flash the T-Mobile one s radio on the phone and it didn't seem to enable it. Wonder if they flashed the right ril file too..
There's a thread on here about their progress in the general section.
Currently, no. Some speculate it may be possible when S-Off is achieved.
