A few days ago I noticed a strange vibration pattern, when I press one of the volume rockers.
This showed up since I installed the mod to wake up the device by volume-keys, I think.
Sometimes when I press the volume-down-button the device vibrates once like you would enable vibrate-mode in volume-control. After a short period (10 to 40 seconds) a pattern of two short vibrations comes up.
I already tried flashing different roms (superwipe included) even without flashing the wake-by-volume-mod, the "problem" still exists.

Ok guys.
I have a seriously annoying problem that has been here since CM6, at least since I started running it in late January, and is still
in CM7. Whenever you're listening to music, and have a screen lock delay (mine is set to 1 minute) whenever you press one of the
volume keys to adjust the volume the screen turns on. Yes, I have volume rocker wake unchecked in settings. This only happens during
the 1 minute time though, after it locks then the screen doesn't turn on. So if I had screen lock delay set at 5 minutes the volume
keys would continue to turn on the screen for 5 minutes until the lock activated. This happens if you have a lock delay, if you don't
then they never turn on the screen (unless you have it enabled in settings or you press one immediately after the screen turns off.)
If you have no lock/protection then this doesn't happen either, but if you have a delay it does. Please help, this wastes battery
life and is very annoying.
I have encountered some strange issues with Galaxy R during the past few days. The first issue is when I plug in my headphones when the phone is idle (i.e. screen off) the menu key often fails to wake it up. Only the power button wakes it up. Sometimes, it wakes up but after a greater than normal delay This happens only when earbuds are inserted when screen is off.
Secondly, sometimes my touch screen and capacitive buttons loose their sensitivity for a couple of seconds (say about 10 seconds) and then come back to normal. The menu and power button works fine but the touch controls are lost.
Has any of you encountered the same? Please comment. Thank you!
Mine Galaxy R doesn't have any of this. I'm on 2.3.4 and you? I think its a defect. And where you wrote this:
The first issue is when I plug in my headphones when the phone is idle (i.e. screen off) the menu key often fails to wake it up. Only the power button wakes it up.
I think that is normal because you cant unlock the phone by using the back or menu button.
This application blocks the ringer mode to avoid changing the mode when the phone is locked (screen on)
this is a workaround for the following strange behavior / bug on stock android 4.2+:
Note: my phone uses a pattern to unlock screen.
- Steps to reproduce the problem.
1.Lock the phone, and light the screen with power button.
2.Long press power button until the power off menu appears.
3.Press the power button to close the screen.
- What happened.
4.After that, every time the screen is lighted (but not unlocked), press the volume keys can change the volume though no music is playing at all.
The volume keys keep working each time I turn on the screen without unlocking, and it is back to normal when I unlock the phone use the unlock pattern and lock again.
- What you think the correct behavior should be.
The volume keys should not work at all when the phone is showing lock screen, it has accidentally muted my phone and led to missed calls. This is worse than power off menu it self. Since power off menu only appears with long press, but when ever the menu appears once, the volume keys work every time until I re-lock the phone.
And also I don't think the power off menu should appear by long pressing during locking state, since it is quite possible that the power button can be long pressed even in my pocket during taking the phone in or out.
P.S. When the phone is rebooted and went into lock screen the first time, the volume keys will work on lock screen without the necessity of showing the power-off menu.

Thank you, good job keep working on it
Just bought a second hand GS3 from ebay, the screen had a small crack but otherwise was meant to be OK. I am finding that the sound will work fine after a restart for as long as I use the device but then, after it has gone to sleep (screen off for five seconds) all sound will stop working.
I've tried clean wipes/formats etc. and also checked all relevant settings I could find (including turn off all sound in accessibility; what an odd option).
I've tried two ROMs and three kernels.
I've tried searching google and xda for hours but haven't found anything that wasn't related to the headphone port; this affects both speaker and headphone, although when the headphone is in and the sound has died I can hear some strange static noises when it's meant to play sound, could be interference or a clue.
I've dismantled the phone and inspected for damage, nothing obvious. While dismantled I tried applying pressure to the speaker flex cable and various other IC's to no effect.
It really seems like a software glitch since it only happens when the device goes to sleep;
You can turn the screen off and unlock within 3 seconds and it will be OK.
If you wait 5 seconds with the screen off - boom, no sound.
Any ideas? Is there some deep idle sleep setting that kicks in after 3 seconds I can disable or some way to log audio errors or... something?
Thanks

Hi,
This problem occurred about a week ago.
When I hold my volume up or down a few seconds to adjust the volume, suddenly the volume bar maxes out or hit the bottom and gets stuck there.
If I try to adjust it on-screen (without the buttons) like when it gets stuck at the maximum volume it jumps to the maximum volume again. (Same thing goes for the opposite).
Now About the power button.
It just doesn't work sometimes. Like it won't turn on my phone or turn it on.
BTW I changed my ROM to AOSP extended for about 2 or 3 weeks ago but this problem just happened as I mentioned before a week ago.
What should I do to fix this?
Thx in advance!
Your buttons are probably broken, go see a technician..
