Safe to be on an old HBOOT while on ICS? - HTC Sensation

Alright guys,
So I've got my phone running ARHD ICS.
I've flashed the firmware package that mike linked in the ARHD thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618 ) and then flashed the actual rom.
I've been reading around that in able for the rom to boot the radio must be upgraded and before that the HBOOT must be updated as stated in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
I still have the original revolutionary 1.27 HBOOT with the 11.21.3504 radio w/o any noticable problems and I'm wondering if this will negatively impact the performance/stability of my phone.
Should I update the HBOOT to the 3.24 unlocked HBOOT or am I okay the way I am now?

Leave it like that, if it starts rebooting or freezing then try flashing the newest FW.
I'm using Virtuous Inquisition with 3.12 and it works just fine

You are already having tghe latest HBOOT . V3.24 is the firmware version . In this firmware , HBOOT is V1.27 . So you have a little misunderstanding. V3.24 firmware is actually includes the HBOOT 1.27 , Radio 11.21.3504 . So don't worry. You are fully up to date. Just chill and play with ICS

Such a great advice! Thanks!
One more question, will it keep my operator safe?
It's T-Mobile by the way.

Its not about S-ON correctly. Its about beeing able to update software by 'oryginal' way. After I did root my phone I cannot do this anymore.
There was an update that showed me an exclamation mark in yellow triangle with droid's logo. I guess that was an error, wasn't it?

[Q] New phone with S-OFF, need S-ON back!

Hi, I bought Desire S and there was also S-OFF. I would like to have S-ON because of warranty, can I switch is easy to S-ON?

You could flash a ruu, but cause you got it shipped this way, I would say be happy about it and let it be, I don't think that in this case are any warranty problems, but I'm not sure.

Depends on how you unlocked it (revolutionary bootloader can cause problems) and if it's branded.
be happy that you have a 2.00.0002 s-off, seems that you are unique with that ...

If you have HBOOT 2.00.0002 and it came that way, don't you already have Android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.0?
Even if you don't, since you are S-OFF you can install the official 2.3.5/Sense 3.0 RUU and be perfectly fine.

[Q] Revolutionary S-OFF Hboot 1.18.0000 not supported

hi there, I have a problem with my Sensation XE.
I am trying to S-OFF my Sensation but running Revolutionary.io it always says that my device was found but also that Hboot 1.18.0000 is not supported at this time. it is very strange because i can select this Hboot on their website when acquiring Beta key and I read that they have been supporting this Hboot for months now.
Device: Sensation XE
Hboot: 1.18.0000
Android : 2.3.4
Rom: 1.73.720.2
your help is much appreciated, i spent hours to try to fix it up, but no luck.
Did you installed the drivers? Deinstall all programs from your PC that communicate with your phone (htc sync, mobile phone explorer, etc...)
thanks for your reply, done that, but still it doesn't work..
I used recovery for my 1.18.0000 sensation no problems. After I was rooted I was a 1.17.xxxx. Make sure you have the latest version of recovery mod with all updates. Happy Flashing
I have that Hboot version too but on my HTC ONE V can i also S-OFF my phone?
According to the list of supported phones, no (at least not with revolutionary). Why don't you check in the One V section?

Hi,
Your ROM version is too high.
Because you have an XE phone,you need a RUU with a ROM version of 1.50 or less.
Contact FOOTBALL
He may be able to help.
If you cannot get your ROM version down,you will have to use the "Wire Trick".

Stock to Sense 5

I'm trying to update my Evita phone to the newest Sense 5 OTA. Currently, I'm on 4.0.3. I've modified the **** out of this phone previously, I have SuperCID and the bootloader is unlocked, but I flashed a RUU before I gave it to my brother and now the hboot is at 1.01.0000. Radio is 0.15.3201.09. Phone is currently unrooted. I'm wondering what my options are now.
I have the OTApkg for the Sense 5 update, but when I try to apply it in stock recovery, I get an error like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Note that I did do this on stock recovery and did not wipe beforehand. Not sure if it makes a difference, but based on the error, I think I may have to update to a newer stock version for it to work? I'm not 100% certain, but I figured I'd put this out there before I did anything further to avoid messing things up. I'd appreciate some quick help on this. Thanks!

That hboot and radio number are really old. It was actually a leak before the phone was even released. That is a pretty weird RUU to have flashed.

It absolutely makes a difference. The phone needs to be up to date in order for the OTA to install. OTAs often do not have all modules present (such as hboot modules). They just include what has been changed since the previous OTAs. Meaning if the OTA had actually installed (on your device which is missing several OTAs), you probably would have bricked your phone.
You need to update to 3.18 before you can install the Sense 5 update.

Updating Rooted phone

I recently purchased a rooted HTC One X, the phone is currently running 4.2.2 Liquid Smooth and hasn't been updated in probably a year. Do I need to update TWRP recovery first then install whatever rom I want to use?

Here's pictures of the current bootloader and TWRP version.
You have some work to do. First thing you need to do is get s-off, try the Facepalm S-off method. Then you'll need to update your firmware, go to the How-To Guide For Beginners thread in my signature for download and instructions. Then you need to flash the latest TWRP, you'll find that here.

So I've gone ahead and followed all of your steps, have s-off, updated firmware and an updated version of TWRP. Is it safe to say I'm good to go and can flash the rom of my choice?
Yes, your phone is now able to run any current ROM.
