your phone must be in normal mode,
and you must "cd" to the directory of the file you want to install. and write the name of file corectly with.apk.
i dont tnink the should be any problems
Hi guys! I think I need your massive help...
What I did:
S-OFFed my Desire S with alpharevx - no problem
Rooted with Gingerbreak - no problem
Flashed ClockWorkMod Recovery with RomManager - no problem
Flashed Virtuos Unity ROM with ClockWorkMod - no problem
Tried to boot phone after flashing Virtuos Unity ROM - PROBLEM!
Phone stayed at VU bootscreen for about 30 minutes, not responding to anything.
Only thing to do was to remove battery. After that, it hung at HTC Bootlogo (green on white background), nothing happens.
So, I tried to enter CWM to flash my nandroid backup - wouldn´t accept it.
Tried to flash all other ROMs that I found - always error.
Entered CWM to try to wipe partitions.
First screen shows the menu and below that following message:
ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.6
E:Can´t open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can´t open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can´t open /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can´t open /cache/recovery/last_log
I can still use the menu however.
Wipe data/factory reset is no problem
Wipe cache partition is ok, but makes the environment REALLY slow!
Always show errormessage when trying to install ROM, when it is trying to format /system, doesn´t matter if it is custom or my nandroid backup.
Errormessage is: Error formatting /system!
Sometime I had an (Status 1) message when trying to install a custom rom. It says that it is an error in the zip file. However, I tried several with the same result.
So, I thought, "Wrong CWM?". Let´s try 4EXTRecovery instead.
Beginning to flash:
assert failed: write_raw_image(“/tmp/recovery.img, “recovery”)
E:Error in /sdcard/4EXTRecovery_v2.0.2_RC2-saga.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
There´s no error in the file, I tried to download it from several sources.
I can reach the phone thru ADB and Fastboot. I tried a couple of commands I found on the net to wipe cache but only got an error. Don´t know what to type...
When trying to flash a newer Clockwork Mod Recovery with fastbootcommand, sending the file is OK, but when writing ´recovery´ it hangs, nothing happens for 20 minutes. When unplugging the USB cord I get an error (status read failed (Too many links)).
I also tried to flash my .android_secure.img, boot.img, cache.img, data.img, recovery.img and system.img from my nandroidbackup (ex. fastboot flash boot boot.img) with the same results: sending file is ok, when writing the file the phone stops responding until I pull the USB cable, then I get the "Too many links error".
So: Is there anything I can do?
I have all the files .android_secure.img, boot.img, cache.img, data.img, recovery.img and system.img on my computer if that is any good.
I can mount and access the sdcard thru ClockworkMod Recovery.
Both HBOOT (Bootloader?), FASTBOOT and CWMrecovery is responding on phone, there is a working link between computer (ADB and FASTBOOT command), however something seems to be broken as it stops responding.
Is there any command I can use? I really don´t know more than the FLASH and WIPE command so maybe i´m missing something?
I appreciate all your input!
Thanks!
kinda looks familiar...
compare your problem to this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150917
F**k... Stupid me, I read that post when it was new. However, I didn´t have that problem myself then...
So, is there a command I can execute to see that the eMMC chip is really broken?
As in that thread, point 8, second infoscreen (DS Brick shows). Just to make sure, I think I have a friend that can replace it for me then...
Need URGENT help............? Nexus S. Problem with Android Bootloader Interface or perhaps i don't have any idea what the problem is.
I am using nexus s 19020T, rooted, clockworkmod . My problem starts with ICS update. I got update and tried to install it. I got bellow error
"Opening update package...
Installing update...
Verifying current system...
failed to stat "/system/app/Gmail.apk": No such file or directory

E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
result was NULL, message is: assert failed: install_zip("/sdcard/update.zip")
"
Then i reverted every thing back to 2.3.1 (nandroid backup). Now I am not able to become superuser. But I got 2.3.6 OTA. Again tried to update super user binaries. I am getting error "signature verification failed. Installation aborted."
I able to access the adb via command prompt whenever my mobile is power on but when I am in fastboot I am not able to access adb and fastboot commands. I can clearly see whenever device reboots under "devmgmt.msc" Android Phone - Android Bootloader Interface is disappearing.
It seems same problem faced here http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1304158.html. But in my case I don't have clockworkrecovery access also, My mobile is just unlocked without root access. I don't have any idea how to install image. At least I want to install clockwork recovery. Is there any other way around to do that?
Please let me know if you need further information.
Thanks in advance. Really not being a superuser sucks..........!
Earlier few days i tried [ROM][AOSP] ICS build for Nexus S - kwiboo for few days and back to 2.3.6 using rommanager. Is it got to do any thing with " ICS build for Nexus S"?
Try format /system, becareful not to format the wrong partition. Then flash a full ROM, eg. 4.0.3 full ROM (about 160MB). Apply root afterwards.

May I know the procedure? Because I am not able to install any rooted application and I am not able to use adb/fastboot commands while I am in Fastboot mode.

Try read the stickied thread for rooting carefully. You need to get at least fastboot working, so that you can flash CWM. I suspect you have a driver issue. Believe it or not, doing it in Linux is probably easier than you think... Most modern Linux distributions have drivers for these phones out of the box. When I was trying to resurrect my bricked phone, I used the Ubuntu live CD. It detected the phone on the live CD without me doing anything! If you want, you can read the stickied root guide for Ubuntu. Do it in a VM or install it on a spare computer, whatever you prefer.
You need to install stock rom from rom manager ver 2.3.3 then update to 2.3.6 then apply the update.zip from the stock recovery =] that worked for me

If fastboot devices command works, then you shouldn't have any problem installing CWM recovery.
Put the downloaded recovery image in the same directory as fastboot.exe then use the command fastboot flash recovery your-downloaded-recovery.img to flash it.

Can I have link or some resource for more information to follow the above mentioned procedure because I am quiet new to linux.
I actually formatted my 'nexus s' with windows 7 operating system, because win 7 is prompting when ever I plugged in my mobile to access sdcard. My question is
"Is there any relation between formatting sdcard and corrupting bootloader"?
You can ROOT your device very easy...
first download : http://www.4shared.com/zip/2L09-JyW/Root_Nexus_S.html
Just unpack , connect your device and click run.bat
After that you need : remove install-recovery.sh just in .....
run in windows-> Start->at the search bar write cmd and navigate into your android sdk is installed
For me :
C:/"Programs and Files (x86)"/Android/android-sdk/tools/>adb shell
# rm /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
#exit
or with Root Explorer into system/etc/install-recovery.sh just renam it (ex. : .sh.old)

Try that first, hopefully you can get fastboot working in Windows. Otherwise, I have to walk you through the steps to do it in Ubuntu.
Hello Guys,
I have a 2.3.5 Andoid on a Samsung Galaxy S2 (rooted XWKi8).
Basically, I couldn't Flash CWM Recovery from my ROM Manager. So I tried to do it by uploading zImage through Heimdall from the following method :
wiki (dot) cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Full_Update_Guide
The problem is :
- if I try to do it on ubuntu, I get this error on the terminal :
Initialising connection...
Detecting device...
libusb couldn't open USB device /dev/bus/usb/001/008: Permission denied.
libusb requires write access to USB device nodes.
ERROR: Failed to access device. libusb error: -3
- and if I try it on Win7, the zadig.exe doesn't install the drivers for some reasons, ERROR: Driver installation Failed !
Can I get any assistance on this matter please, I'm desperate to get CyanogenMode on my S2 i9100.
Please tell me if I am doing something wrong or if I am missing something ?
Appreciate you help !
