The XDA is now a global forum that has become a reference, there are many people like me that despite not speaking fluent English translator and seek to use information and news here, I ask a little patience with us as we have more difficulty.
So we can make mistakes I am very grateful to users walter79 master as I am fan and user of MS2ginger and many others that enable users with little knowledge as I use the wonderful mods.

Copy the zip to the root (no folders) of your sd card.
You must root it first, then install CWM via 2nd init (find it in defy themes and apps forum), after you installed it, press vol down key when a blue led shows up on booting, then using vol+/- keys and power button to select, choose install zip via sd card, choose your downloaded zip, reboot and that's it.

its here for a very good reason...
at the time i was distributing it via the cmupdater and had recieved 40+ emails of people asking for it (plus some more recently)
noone ever looks in the apps section and nobody took notice in the main CM thread
also, its part of the roms before 4.2.10 so i put it here as a supliment to the roms
i report enough "wrong section"s to know what constitutes being here
Daneshm90 is a clown... Good post garok89 and this is the correct section, its a system app having to do with the cyanogen rom, therefore it needs 2 be here.. ive been looking for this and i would never have went to the apps forum to look. This is jus like when someone post browser.apk updates or contacts.apk updates etc
Thank Have Daiis LooKing 4 it =DDD Plus When You go to CyanogenMod updater Is Not there !! OK N Sorry But How Do u Install It Cuz is not a .aPk ??
the way you did with good old fashioned stuff before the updater...
download it, put it on the root of your sd card
reboot in to recovery
flash it
reboot
its not an apk file as there are extra things in there that need to be shuvved in to /system/app etc to make it work
First: download your cooked .zip
2.
extract it and copy framework/framework-res.apk to system/framework/framework-res.apk
Done.

I appreciate that u wanted to creat an informative thread. But actually the information u wanted to tell here is the most basic info which every new user know. So before creating any new thread verify that is ur thread really have any unique info or mod which is going to help people here.
Just a quick word in here...
When making instructional threads, try to make sure that all your information is accurate and complete. In this case you haven't mentioned the you need to set your permissions right... (set it to rw-rw-rw. I hope you know what I'm talking about).
Please make a better, more comprehensive tutorial mate. Also note that at it's core, this is a developer forum, so post your reasoning and everything that got you to your solution.
I appreciate your initiative, but try and do more research before posting, like for your earlier thread regarding boot animations.
This is a Q&A for Raver’s Valhalla-BlackEdition thread.
Rules I would like to see followed:
- If you quote there is no need to quote the entire post – quote the part of the post you are responding to. Delete the rest.
- THEME RELATED QUESTIONS (i.e. icons/wallpapers) belong in the theme and apps sub forum: THEME AND APPS
- If somebody asks lazy questions, just IGNORE THEM! They will eventually get the HINT! MarkP80nj Quote: "If no one answers you, maybe try learning how to do it yourself."
- And Hit the THANKS button if somebody helps you! It is the least we can do!

How i can get the blue eye (or any other) wallpaper again?
Which ROM was it in? Do you still have the .zip?
- Pull the system/app/Launcher.apk
- Unzip it. Yes, apk is a zip file.
- Look in res/drawable-hdpi folder.
Does the final.zip have a shutdown animation?
- In the Final.zip file in \system\media\video\shutdown - the folder is empty.
- If you have the BlackEdition.zip file in \system\media\video\shutdown - shutdown.qmg is in the folder.
Add back the 'Audible touch tones', 'Audible selection', and 'Screen lock Sounds' that are not in the Vahlalla - Black Edition - Final-Fixed.zip.

Great idea lumin. Will keep this towards the top for sure. Maybe we can have Raver post a link to this in the OP with something like "Any non-bug related questions NEED to be directed here." Not that anyone will read it but worth a shot.
I would love to see the thread locked and pointed here – as of writing this the thread is already 147 pages.
That would be a bad idea Unless i locked the thread it would mean i would have to make threads for every damm update it did sorry not going to do that... Trust me 147 pages isnt alot when u consider some roms get over 500+.

I like this idea, sadly we might not get to see it in action. I'm pretty new here, and as such, just like anywhere else I go when I'm unfamiliar with my surroundings, it takes a bit to get acclimated to my surroundings. This goes for anyone, anywhere. I asked for a font in the development thread, and I did this after a PM to the dev with the simple question "thanks, nice rom, what was the font in rc2?" No response, I'm sure he's busy. No big deal, so I asked in the dev forum thinking that a change such as this could be easily answered in the forum about the development (read: continual change) thread. It was simple, but people who were running other, more current versions than what I requested were answering me, when all I needed was an answer from someone who knew the answer.
The longstanding members are just as guilty in this forum for messing up threads with "nice work" that have less to do with development than "my DSP force closes but I'm new and don't know how to run a logcat, be sure not to help me and tell me to search everyone thanks."
I'd go back and delete all my non-development related posts but it doesn't seem that I can, if it's possible, tell me how and I will. I'd be happy to delete all 13 of my posts in the name of cleaning up the forum. My solution, in addition to the thoughts by lumin laid out above would be for a forum moderator to delete posts as they get out of hand. I don't know if that's possible, but that's my best suggestion.
It would really help us new people if the sticky threads in this SGS forum were up to date, as well. The bible is dated, I spent the better part of 3 weeks reading and searching before I was comfortable enough to flash a ROM.
That's my 2 cents, and again, I'm pretty new. Sometimes new perspective can indicate that new tricks are needed by old dogs.
sony style was used sorry.... Sometimes i am slow about getting back to people doesnt mean i dont read posts or pm's

I was on GB 2.3.6 or the latest one. I did follow the OP but I skipped step 2 because I read it wasn't necessary and I don't know what UMMU is.
I placed the file on my SD and reboot recovery from CWM and flashed it.

I did this same thing once by accident. Not sure if *all* of this was necessary, but here's what I did to fix it:
Took my SD card out of my phone and placed the custom ROM (Valhalla Black in my case) from the Valhalla Black thread AND the Busybox Installer zip from this thread onto the root directory.
Entered download mode (volume up and down + plug in USB cable) at STEP 6 of this thread. Why from step 6? Because steps 1-5 refer to the transfer from Froyo to GB (bootloaders) and you are already on GB.
At step 8b you will be stock with KJ6 and CWM Recovery. You can then continue with the steps to install the ROM of your choice in step 11.
So now you're going to be following instructions from the Valhalla Black thread, BUT be careful because you need to install busybox before you completely reboot out of recovery to complete the steps in the GB starter pack thread! Flash ROM in CWM, then flash Busybox in CWM.
Do not skip any steps! As for the mounts question, when you are in CWM Recovery go to >Mounts and Storage and make sure that the mounts read "unmount, mount, mount, unmount" for the first 4 options.
Good luck, hope this helps!

OMG! Thanks so much! My problem was that I was flashing something else or another rom so that's why it didn't work.
Does anyone know of a way to install a version of the ICS camera into a rom which contains the tap-to-focus function? Hopefully there is a flashable zip that I haven't come across.
If its a matter of replacing files using Root Explorer, that's not a problem. However, if I have to use adb to do this, I would love instructions on how to do so.
Of course this will not be possible without the actual files/apk of the tap-to-focus feature.
Thanks in advance to anyone with answers.
Edit: Thanks to dr911 he was able to direct me in the right direction on how to enable this feature.

The files are contained within the AOKP rom for the Nexus S 4G as posted. You just download the rom and extract the files. Once you've extracted them, just place them in the same folders within your current rom.

I'm using the stock rom from the update pushed through by Sprint which I of course rooted, and everything is working perfectly fine.
The download link is contained within the development section. Its titled [ROM][AOSP][INFO] Android Open Kang Project - Crespo4g Build 30 [4-7-12].

Are you also able to activate the power button as shutter? The combo TTF and PowerShutter was why I chose AOKP as source ROM.
I think, some things have to be done with hardware buttons, such as camera shutter and music track skipping.
And by the way, are you able to use the video effects? I don't know if it is related to these files or the ROM I use, but they don't work here! I don't need those, so I don't care!
The power button does not work as a way to take photos. But as of right now, I'm very pleased with how this has turned out. I'm running the closest thing to stock with the tap-to-focus feature along with the Face to Unlock security feature which I found as a flashable zip on Android Forums I believe.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Did you activate that feature in camera settings? After that you have to restart the camera, else just your screen turns off.
EDIT1: So i just made a flashable zip from the files for anyone who isn't that familiar with Root Explorer or ADB. I hope it works, hadn't the time to test it, so better you make a backup before flashing (as always)
@The Batman: are you now able to use the power button as shutter?
EDIT2: New zip should also enable video effects on ICS ROMs that lack this function. Tested on I9023 with slimICS 3.3.
All credits to Team KANG and the people here on XDA, because I just took the files from AOKP that were mentioned in some posts here on XDA and put them into a flashable zip file (I also took the template for that from the forums, call me a pirate )
Yes, the power button now works. Users just have to make sure that they use the AOKP camera.apk and not the stock camera.Google.apk.

Depends on the ROM you are using and if that ROM contains the Google camera app or AOSP camera app.
But I think there is no advantage in having both side by side as the AOKP cam should have all features of the stock cam plus TTF and PS...

One X version should work. What might be a problem is the "update-binary-installer" (device dependent)
If the update-binary-installer isn't compatible with your device, the updater-script will fail and show a blank install screen.

--- Download "ROMCleaner_user.txt" or "NO-Sense_user.txt" from the firstpost
--- Open the text file with Notepad++
In the text file you will find two columns with app names and a description in this guide we use AdobeReader.apk as an example.
To Remove a file with ROMCleaner
Code:
AdobeReader.apk Adobe Reader PDF reader
In the case above "AdobeReader.apk" will be removed.
To keep a file with ROMCleaner If you decide to keep it, add a "#" at the beginning of the line:
Code:
[COLOR=Red]#[/COLOR]AdobeReader.apk Adobe Reader PDF reader
Let's say we are done with the edits. To continue just complete next list:
--- Press the "X" in the upper right corner of the screen to save the changes.
--- Copy the file onto your sdcard. The file must be located in "/sdcard/ROMCleaner" folder.
Now ROM Cleaner script will always read that file!

No. I took the one he shares on that thread. I went in the zip file and made minor adjustments for my 4.1.2 Rom. Then used it. I haven't shared it because even though I made some changes, it is ultimately his work so I haven't shared the one I made modifications to due to me not asking for his permissions to distribute it publicly on our forum. So I have held on to it as a personal resource.

When I get the chance I will send it your way with a list. Been busy working, so free time has been short. Also, I have something else for you to consider in regards to the list of launchers to choose from. I will let you know more details.

Result -? We must use the version from X or version will be made for our model?

One X version should work. What might be a problem is the "update-binary-installer" (device dependent)
If the update-binary-installer isn't compatible with your device, the updater-script will fail and show a blank install screen.

Please let me know.

And I'm sorry to say this but users like you is what keeping me away from supporting too many devices.
Helping lazy users all days isn't why I came here to XDA and developed ROM Cleaner.
Terms of Use
ROM Cleaner will remove apps and files
from your device.
If basic ROM Cleaner setup removed too much
apps and files after running, just download
"ROMCleaner_user.txt" or "NO-Sense_user.txt"
or "CM-AOSP_user.txt" from ROM Cleaner thread
@xda and make your personal edits.
More details can be found in second post...
ROM Cleaner is well tested by us and thousands
of users and should not make your phone unstable.
If you do get into trouble, make a post in the
adequate ROM Cleaner thread and we will help you.
Important!
When you flash this script you will heavily
modify the ROM! So before you report bugs or
non working apps (etc) in ROM Development threads,
think twice and please feel free to ask us first.
Requirements
- You can read this...
- Bloated HTC device
With other words, that's not a bug in ROM Cleaner.
You just didn't read about the ROMCleaner_user.txt.

Did i complain about it or something? Did I spamming your topic or your inbox because it remove radio apk?
Someone ask does script work with one sv because it doesn't officially support it. I wrote that it work but you need to push radio back to system.
Don't see why you have problem with that.

LOL, read again what I wrote...
FM Radio is removed by default (is that a bug?)
If you still want fm radio then customize your ROMCleaner_user.txt

Well, you should know how frustrating it is developing, writing manuals and people not reading what they are flashing or how to use the freely provided software correctly. It takes lots of time dev-ing making it as user-friendly as possible. Most questions are answered in the manual, which you agreed to have read it while flashing.
Using ROMCleaner and edit it to your demands isn't really rocket science.
So don't stop reading manuals and replies, it will only lead to more frustration for us and to other users.
Having this said: I urge you leaving the discussion as it is, and PLEASE keep reading, as it shows some respect to Patrics83 and his team.
Let's go on with this thread. Cheers!

Yep, that's the first step. Just use that version and provide us some more feedback, we will keep an eye in this thread and provide help if needed.
