I am using ADWLauncher Ex.
Is it possible to change the appearance of the folders? I want to remove the white border and change the alpha/color of the background.
I've downloaded and tried a few themes and none of them change the folder's appearance.
If it's definitely not possible with ADWLauncher EX, is there another launcher app that does it?
Thanks in advance.
Here's a picture of what I am talking about.

if you go through the res folder of the .apk you should be able to find the .png's which control the folder colours/edges

Are you sure?
I just looked through everything in the res folder and there is no png for the folders.
Damn I can't even google this cuz the search results are just FILLED with retards asking how to change the folder icon. ffs.
If you have twitter, you can ask Ander webbs directly @anderwebs. It might be quicker than all the search.
I use Folder Organizer.
You can completely customize the skin used for the app folders:
title bar, border, background colors with alpha and gradient, and title and body text colors.
Probably the best $1.49 I ever spent on an app; there's also a free lite version.

Eric

It looks like those icons are in the dock area, FO can't go in to the dock as it is a widget.

Also, I see everyone posting their screenshots with a big digital clock and weather what widget is this: see here:
The icons in the status bar are from an app called seepu. And the weather widget is beautiful widgets. That's the smaller home widget.

Ok thanks I checked it out.. But it didnt give me the last 2 icons on the top left, presumably temperature and ram??
It only gave me CPU usage and Network...
the icon on the right is from an app called SetCpu and I'm not sure where that particular temp notification is from, but the Weatherbug app has one.

Looks like Faded Home http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=767820
Sadly this is not faded home. I already have faded home. Im actually kinda glad that this isnt faded home though because it gets no updates and the dev wont even giv refunds or answer any questions
I find this when I google the link of that picture:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-974429.html
when was the last update? has anyone else used this launcher?
It looks like someone just used a custom dock with transparent icons overlaid, and then used Minimalistic Text or Desktop Visualizer to get the other icons. I think this could be done with any app that allows for changing the dock background/icons.

What you found was the JAMT theme for cm7 theme chooser but thanx.
Hey, that is just launcher pro with JAMT Black, some custom icons and a custom dock. Details here. Nothing too special, just some trickery with simi folder and desktop Visualizer.

Thanks Very helpful
Last night I was looking through some themes and found a theme with your normal text, sms, phone etc icons on the home screen. But what was cool is that the icons were written in what appeared to be graffiti fonts. I tried locating the pic of the screen this morning but couldn't. There is 1000's of pages and don't remember what page it was on. I tried searching but no success. Anyway can somebody point me in the right direction of how to create such icons. I know its hard with out having pic but it appeared very simple. I looked on a web site light dafont.com but can not seem to figure it out but I did locate the font. Right now I am using simple text but I want custom fonts with different sizes.
And yes I searched for something that you really dont know what it is.

This is my present home page, I simply want to be able to change my font style to graffiti fonts.
Do you want to change the entire font system on your phone or simply the dock?

I want to change the fonts on my dock icons or any other icon font. I am reading post that members are going to different font web sites and downloading different fonts and applying them to their home screen etc..
Goto the inspire 4g general forum. Search for Font Changer. Grab the font.zips.
Extract them. Use minimalistic text and under fonts in global settings - point it to that folder on your sdcard.
Then when you set up your custom text... you can choose from all those fonts.

Ok got it, followed your lead and ended up downloading several font packages and loading into simple text app styles folder on SD. Now I have hundreds of styles to choose from when using simple text.
Thanks
Hey all!
I've been messing with 'Simple Text' trying to get the look I want here...

As you can see the text icons are quite small and hard to read. Underneath them are folders obviously. The larger text you can see is a widget created also by Simple Text, but there is no way of linking the widget to folders? Only Apps and Shortcuts...
Anyone know of a better app etc that will allow linking to folders?
Cheers,
Matt.
Edit: I guess I should also mention that I am using Nova Launcher Prime.

did you think about drawing icons by yourself and set them in your homescreen?
Yes I have. But the same problem persists. The icons have a set size, no matter what image is used. I also don't want to change the global icon size via a launcher etc.
The best alternative would be to set custom widgets to folders.

I managed to work it out by using Desktop Visualizer combined with Folder Organizer pro. I used Simple Text to create the text, and save it as a .png image.
Hold the home screen and select widget. Then hit DV and select your widget size. Then it opens the settings for the widget. Set up your icon from whatever you want to use (image etc). Then hit 'Action' and select 'Other' then 'FO Folder Link'.
The rest is pretty straight forward after this.

Hi guys I made a skin for my HTC EVO shift today using a chromebook, some old skins, some pngs from a cm7 theme and some sorta zipsigner for Android. The bug at hand is the indicator on the homescreen over the dock is recognizing the dock as an arc and not a flat dock, so its curving down into my dock png when I scroll over.

You'll probably have to change the indicator pngs, I remember seeing a couple skins with a flat indicator... I just searched Sense 2.3 skins when I had the device

Well uh i have another problem, I don't know how to change the name of the skin. Do you know how to do this? I looked on a few forums and apparently there's a folder in /res/ called values and I have to edit the strings.xml and in all my skins there's no values folder at all.

Sorry it's been to long. I joined the dark side and have been on Samsung for awhile.
The only way to see the Values folders is by decompiling the apk with apktool.
There is an apktool for Android now... It's still beta but I've got a link if you guys want it
HERE is a noob friendly tool I've used to decompile apks. It may be helpful to you.
