[Q] Hellfire Sandwich v1.1 question - T-Mobile LG G2x

After installing Hellfire sandwich I noticed that the phone no longer runs on the 4g network but it now has an H above the data connection bar. Its a whole lot slower than 4G and I just wanted to know if there's a way around this issue or is there a step that i missed when I set it up initially? Thank you

To my knowledge some Roms use H instead of 4 just for display. 4G on the G2X is just the seamless transition between towers, speeds are the same as 3G since it's not dual band(HSPA and HSPA+) or LTE.

Download speed and Upload speed have slowed
After installing i've ran a speed test my download speeds are now averaging 1.7 mpbs in the same location where my download speed was averaging 5-7 mbps for the past6 months. I would say that is a tremendous drop. I just thought there might be some odd ball setting i need to adjust or is everyone else having the same issue.

I'm pretty sure it depends on the network load, I've had tests from 0.8 to 6. Point is that if you're getting 2-4 then there isn't anything on the phone stopping you from getting 5 to 7 it's upto the network at that point.

I work for t-mo and H symbol came about when the g2 and my touch 4g were around....I am running the same data speeds as if I were on a GB from that said 4g.

We should see a solid difference once the backhaul work is done. It will display the h+ anywhere there's 3g.

not bad, i could get those speeds from my nexus one but not my inspire...very uninspiring
Stock
2120 kbps Down
108 kbps Up
I can wait to root this thing!
On HSDPA I am hitting 3.3 down and 370k up.

Did anyone else realize that the bottom cover is actually the phones antenna? I just figured that out...
On HSPDA used the FCC app to run the test... 3.02mbps down, 0.29mbps up
Seeing these speeds are scaring me away from switching from T-Mobile to AT&T. On T-Mobile I get 4.70 mbps download and 1.32mbps upload on a Nexus One on hspa (3g) and not hspa+ (4g). Damn I want a new phone already, the inspire is a great piece on hardware!

"4G Evolution
AT&T has deployed HSPA+ to virtually 100% of our nation's fastest mobile broadband network, which enables 4G speeds when combined with enhanced backhaul. We are rapidly expanding enhanced backhaul to cell sites throughout the country, adding new cell sites weekly."
Something isn't right here. I've gotten of 3mb/s on my captivate.
The enhanced backhaul part is what's gonna get you higher speeds. It's not a new network or anything. Once it's done in a given area it also has to be "flipped on". That's pretty much what we're waiting for.
I've gotten up to 3000 down, 1900 up on my rooted captivate at my home cell site, but haven't broken 1600 down and 500 up on the non-rooted stock Inspire at the same place.
I have a rooted Captivate running Cognition and my Inspire is testing faster. You can run the test 30 sec apart and get wildly different results though.
im getting 3453 down and 423 up on HSPA+
Where is you location? Your the first with hspa+

which speed test website r u guys using? and which program to test speed? on opera i get like 6k down n on stock internet i get like 4k down. im in DC. im pretty sure opera compresses the website so it makes it move faster but idk. mine is pretty fast. especially @ night.
i use mobilespeedtest.com
on speedtest.net i got 3.44mbps down and .26mbps up. first try
4.17, .29 second try.

Does Nexus S support HSPA+?

I recently noticed that my 3G speed is much faster than ever before and I live in one of the city that recently added T-Mobile HSPA+.
I was just wondering if Nexus S supports HSPA+. Thanks!
I believe that the NS (I9020 and I9023 variants) have a max download speed of 7.2Mbps and max upload speed of around 5 Mbps, so it is not HSPA+ capable.
It's true the NS, has a max download speed, of 7.2. However, T-mobile's network (at least where I live, supports 21 mbps theoretical speeds (and will be, updating to 42 mbps soon...woohoo) and I regularly see speeds in excess of 6mbps... Upload speeds of almost 2 mbps (1.75 ) so, technically not HSPA + but, not bad either....
Everytime T-mo updates their network everyone sees a boost. You just won't, ever see speeds above, 7 mbps cuz the phone isn't capable of it.
Sent from my NS running NSCollab cuz I lost my tin cans and string....
HSPA yes. HSPA+ no.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S2 on ATT

I've spent a lot of time reading through this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109983&page=1 thread and have a quick question. If I am seeing a H+ on my SGS2 does that mean I have 4G? For reference I have a 4g sim but when I gave the IMEI of my phone they didn't accept it for a 4g plan and gave me a 3g plan. I have a 4G IMEI but am wondering if I need to do this or not given the fact I am seeing the H+
i do not think so because my captivate shows the h+ symbol when i am on cm7 and i am pretty sure that i am not getting 4g speeds the highest speeds i have seen through speed test apps are 6mbps which i think is still 3g. all the h+ symbol means is that we can get the higher upload speeds not too much more in the way of download speeds.
Att so called 4g is really only 3.5 compared to the rest of the world. The icons are just that icons. Like mine says 10g. Use a speed check app to see if you are getting decent speeds for your area.(which can change depending on where you are)

Horrible 3G

My 3g has been worse than usual. Its like unbearable at times. Sprints 3g isn't fast yes but its been even worse than usual and has been slower to connect to 3g coming from 4g. Sending messages through fb messenger isn't very reliable and failed in yahoo messenger at least once. 4g is more reliable but sucks more power. I don't want 4g to have to be on all the time. Anyone else been having problems like this? This is messed up, 3g performance for me lately is horrid, its not 3g, something worse.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G
i get good speeds, ive been through like 5 cities today and lowest speeds i got were about 560 kbps. Im also on a nexus s 4g flashed to boost mobile with a bunch of speed tweaks and prl 12121. Highest i got today had to be over 1 mbps. Those are fine speeds for me. Faster than dialup
I have found that in cities that have 4g, Sprint's 3G is extremely slow.
I am a little perturbed at Sprint because the 3G speeds when I first got this phone were much much faster than they are now.
Sprint is so slow now that the phone is almost unusable. 4G coverage does help some, but the 4G coverage is so spotty, that it is a crap-shoot on usability.

How to force hspa

I am getting slower data speeds then I should and its because it keeps constantly switching between HSPA and umts, 4 times at least every 10 seconds. I was curious if I can force hspa, I read on another forum about someone changing the build.prop to lower the requirements for hspa and it working but they didn't say how and I don't know how to do it. I have full service 5/5 bars almost always. I verified there was a problem by running speed tests on my hox and my sisters iPhone 4. Here 3g is faster than my "4g" and I'm pretty sure its because it keeps switching so much. My battery is taking a hit as well. Any help would be great thx.
I'm running cm10 by the way.
