[Q] Unlocked Nexus S - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there!
I bought an unlocked Nexus S. Does that mean that it has un unlocked bootloader? Can I flash a new ROM without unlocking the bootloader?

Lol unlocked as in Carrier Unlocked lol... if there is a Unlocked Lock pad when turning on the phone above the Google Logo just before the animation .. then yeah your boot loader is unlocked =]
- Google

And no u can't flash a rom with a locked boot loader... free it by unlocking it via fast boot
- Google

Got it. Thanks!

[Q] Will an unlocked bootloader remain unlocked after Lollipop update?

Hi all,
I have a rooted and unlocked Nexus 5. Just wondering if my bootloader will remain unlocked after Lollipop update, either through OTA or factory image. I need the bootloader to remain unlocked in case an unlocked bootloader becomes the prerequisite for rooting forever.
Thanks!

The bootloader will only lock if you specifically lock it using fastboot or an app. No other way

So a locked bootloader remains locked and an unlocked one stays unlocked if I don't change anything in the OTA zip or Factory Image when flashing? Or don't specify it in adb?

Update an Unlocked Bootloader?

Just as the title describes, I am wondering how to update my bootloader now that I unlocked it using Sunshine. I continuously get boot loops when trying to install custom ROMs and I believe it is attributed to the bootloader.

Bootloader unlock allowed-no

I bought m2 from Croatian t-mobile and I can't unlock the bootloader.I can use this recovery:https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/development/d2303-philz-touch-recovery-6-t3047492
But I want to flash LinageOs 14.1, but @galaxyfreak says that it needs an unlocked bootloader.
I heard if you flash older firmware that it can change from no to yes.
Any recommendations?

The bootloader unlock allowed:no thing means that you'll never be able to use custom roms if they don't support locked bootloaders.
It can be unlocked, that is just nonsense. The phone is network locked since the bootloader cannot be unlocked. SIM unlock your phone and the bootloader will be able to be unlocked
Not work for me. My phone was network locked to telenor, and they give a code.
Now is sim unlocked for all networks, but still says -
Bootloader unlock allowed: No
