Does anyone have headphones with track controls (next song, previous song) or do you guys know if they work with Android?
I know that it works with iphones but I don't know about androids. I am not sure if this is a software or hardware thing??
I googled around and found out that the music controls work on some android phones so maybe it has to do with the drivers/manufacturers?

Yep I use the Klipsch Image S4i (made for iPods, which I use with my iPod) and only the play/pause works. That's because it's made for iPods/iPhones. There's an alternate android version available.
If a music app support headset control then yes those headphones should work. So it depends on the app.
For example, the headphones that come with the MT4G had rewind/play pause/forward buttons which worked on the phone with any music app but those buttons don't work at all on my G2x, unless the app supports it.

I have these and they work fine: tap to pause, hold to skip forward and double-tap to skip backward.

edit: On second thought, they don't seem to work on Arcee's CM9 (tried Google Music, Ubermusic and Playerpro). They worked fine on MIUI.
These work with android, but are a little on the pricey side. definitely some of the best in ear headphones though.
They have an app you can download on the market, so should work with any rom/phone

Power amp has its own options for headset controls.
play/pause and double tapping for skip track all work.
My beats with controltalk work very well with CM9....actually better than CM7.....
im using yurbuds inspire on weapon r > new clipped and beats mod, vol controls don't work but on stock music player middle button answers calls mic works fantastic , and middle button also pauses / plays tracks. w power amp and head set controls double click advances track and triple click restarts or skips back.
with beats and power amps eq they sound increadable

I was wondering if anybody found an Equalizer for android by now.
Would love to fine tune the sound of the song on my phone!
Yes interested in this too, love to be able to adjust the stereo balance, seem to be going slightly deaf in one ear.
The only thing I'm aware of is meltus' audio hack. It replaces the equalizer with one for higher volume, but he's released a few and suggests which work best for certain genres. I know it's not quite what you're looking for but you might find it useful. This does require a rooted phone.
I have seen two or three eq in the app store, but I am not sure if its available in your local.
A bit late, but I know this has been bugging me, so incase anyone else comes here looking, Astro Player does have equalizer (don't forget to check 'use equalizer' at the top before using the sliders). app is free with ads, $3 without them.
My Milestone has an builtin app to set the equaliser type like Bass Extreme, Bass Punch, etc. the bass is actually greatly enhanced!

Tell us more about this app. What is it's name for example?
I'm reviving this thread in the hopes that someone knows of an app that will allow me to balance the left and right channels on all stereo sound coming from the headphone jack. Failing that, any music/video player that has a balance control would be great.
Anyone know of one?
Thanks!

Bought the pay version but couldn't find the left /right balance control. Is it In the EQ area?
CyanogenMod 6 has a built in app called "DSP Manager" that lets you set EQ and dynamics (compression) for 3 profiles: headset, phone speaker and bluetooth.
I haven't really tested it but it looks pretty impressive. I'm not sure if it's available outside of CM6 or not.
Not sure if this helps being new to this. I tried audioplayerwitheq platinum on the HTC Desire which gives eq plus seperate left and right volume ajustment. Not the friendliest player though. Anyone know of a better one? Hope this helps you dc41
i hope someone port AudioBooster (WM) for Android
Been a while..
Still looking for a standalone equalizer for android.
i do see more and more players with build in eq. but i am now using the one from fede, which does not (yet?) have one.
i did find one eq, but it was for 2.3 only..
and i still use 2.2 on my dhd.
Player Pro has an equalizer so does PowerAMP
Not sure about stand alone, sorry :|

There is a huge thread in the general part of the forum. Monster Diddy Beats works with everything but volume.
Try looking here. Maybe not the full controls, but some mic'ed options are there.
I personally use the Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10vi, which has a mic and a single button. If you get PowerAMP, you can click for pause/play, double click for Next song, and triple click for Previous song.

Thanks for the link! I am in a competition now! Hope you will send me my prize to the UK.
List is good, but unfortunately, for neither of those I see option to switch tracks with special buttons. I use Astro player (got a special key from developer as I helped them a lot at 4pda.ru), so PowerAMP & single button is not an option for me. 8-(

V-MODA headphones with the three-button remote control put you in control of your music, allowing you to answer /end calls, play or pause your music. Plus, if you’re using an Apple product, you can control the volume or skip forwards and backwards through your songs and videos.
is volume and next/prev track also working for v-moda Vibe II?

As a virgin Android (almost) user...
I am curious about the music player aspect. I made a post enquiring about the use of after market headphones (like Sennheiser) for iPod, being able to use the inline controller - but it seems that has limited success.
Are there players that have track advance by 'shake' or something else that doesn't require you to take it out and turn it on/off etc. to simply change tracks..?
Any insight appreciated.

Yeah thats the reason i tested the iphone waters. I listen to music all day and its a pain in the ass to carrying two devices and having to worry if there both charged and stuff, it was just easier to get a 32gb for my android. Not sure if this is old news to everyone else, but I just stumbled across it (a month later) But the default music player has a built in equalizer. If you press the menu button while the app is open and tap settings it's there. You can also turn on a little visualization. Like I said not sure if everyone else knows this , but it's kinda cool.

I tried both my Nocs (iPhone model) and my HTC urBeats (Android version). They both work. For the Nocs, only a double-click works for FFWDing to next song. On the the UrBeats, double-click centre button to FFWD, left and right buttons control volume. This is the behaviour with the stock music app.
