Hello well I am new here and I just got my prime today waiting the 8 hours for the first charge at the moment I have noticed people are having problems with the new update bricking there tablet. Should I update it is only on Honeycomb at the moment till I update I dont want a bricked tablet before I can even use it should i run the update or not? Thankyou
Bump
any help please should be ready come off charge shortly Thanks
I'd advise against updating it, till Asus comes out with a fix.
Not all asus Transformer primes are having the problem it seems, but I'd not risk it. For now stick with Honeycomb, of which you are certain it works.

I heard that the 3.1 update is out for the transformer but I am not seeing it as an available update.... do I have to manually do this or should the tablet see it as an update and automatically update?

They're pushing it out in waves, so far it seems like it's mainly been Asia. You can, however, find and download the update yourself from the internet and initiate the update yourself if you care that much/search a little around the internet. I'll try to find the link that I used

This is probably the wrong forum for this post though. This would probably be better posted in Transformer General or Transformer Development
I received the transformer yesterday afternoon and I got the update this morning when I awoke. You should receive it this morning if you have not already
Hey guys, I need to revert to a stock US build. I tried to do so by downloading US firmware from ASUS and putting it on the sdcard. The Transformer finds the file but when it restarts to install, it stays stuck in the boot screen.
Is it because I have clockwork recovery installed? currently I am runnng prime 1.6 with netformer 1.5. I tried to do the update under a rooted 8.4.4.5, not under prime.
I have not done it but I think you will have to NVFLASH it...
I'd like to know this as well, I have my TF for sale and a newbie buyer might want to have the stock OS so they can get OTA updates from Asus. Has anyone documented the process to go back to stock on the TF?

A little off topic...why are you selling?
I have both the TF and Tab 10.1 and after playing with both of them for a week the beautiful screen and slim design of the Tab won my heart over the functional advantages of the TF (keyboard and SD card slot). Plus Samsung's just announced slim bluetooth keyboard/case for the Tab sealed the decision for me.
I also have an Ipad and finally came to the realization that I was nuts for having 3 tablets.
Thanks for the response. I actually had the Samsung, Acer and Asus all in hand...I loved the Samsung but couldn't get past not having any memory expansion. The Acer had all the great ports but a poor screen relative to the others.
Hey there, new guy here.
I have read alot and done most by myself like a big kid... lol
But the last step which will be to install custom rom is missing one little detail, how to revert back to stock? I like to be prepared before making any steps. I searched about the subject but best result lead to this thread with no answers yet.
thanks for anyone's time.
today I purchased a transformer from micro center, serial b70kas203, build us_epad-8.4.4.11-20110711. I haven't been home yet to try rooting, but sounds like it most likely has sbk_v2. I would like to be able to root when available, but what I am wondering is if its ok to do any ota updates? Or will doing ota updates further prevent me from rooting?
It really depends on what Asus decides they want to do security-wise. I know with the Evo a lot of people took certain OTAs and ended up making their phone un-rootable. In my experience, it's best to let the OTA ride for a couple of days and check back here or other dev hotspots to see if anybody is having trouble with them. You can always wait a little while for an update, and it's safer to have somebody else who isn't as wise do the testing.
well how about asking this way, can I safely update mine which has 3.1 to most recent ota? I too have an evo and know about those crippling updates, and i'm wondering if its safe for me to hook my transformer up to wifi and accept updates to 3.2.

I think the latest updates to tf101 has no impact on whether you can root or not later on. If your tf has sbk1 then you can root, but if it has sbk2, then no go at the moment. So fire away, let the fota do its thing, then try to root afterwards when the updates are finished.
Thank you

I know this is a pretty lame question but give me a break I have been unable to use the internet for about 2 1/2 months. I have a tf with the last update occuring in may. Again I have been away from the net for a while and I have no way of updating OTA. My question is with all the updates that have occurred since I last updated if I am able to get the latest update mailed to me via flash drive will I still get the improvements from previous updates? Also do I need to update my 3.1 to the newest 3.1 update before improving to 3.2 or can I go straight from old 3.1 to 3.2? Sorry for asking a lame question but I don't know who else to ask. Thanks
Well I was able to get my hands on a sat phone over here in Afghan and gave Asus a call. They were able to answer my question so thanks anyway. I knew it wasn't the best question but I had limited resources to get the answer.
Anyone knows anything about when ASUS is planning to release an update for tf300 with 3G module? More than a week has passed since tf300 update, this suspense is kinda boring and unfun for me
Hey man, you and me in the same boat here....not so cool waiting for better days
I suppose they are working on it, must be a good thing as they probably seen what need to be fixed in the wifi release since release and working on the rom to make it better....probably, not sure.
I am just hoping soon!!!!
No response from Asus
Well, we're on the niche market that's why we will always be the last one to receive it(they will always give priority to the wifi-only version).

Hi,
Its finally here last night, could someone please shed some light on doing the manual update as I have an unlocked bootloader?
you can download the update at the asus website, just need help installing it....is it same as the tf300 and need to install the 4.0.3 first and then do all that stuff before I can flash the 4.1?
Thank you...sorry for posting in a few places....just want it on the tab now
EDIT: I am now on JB, thank you
