if you are new, dsixda's kitchen is where to start, but i dont know if it supports ICS roms
alrighty thanks for the info and quick response ill check into it
How do you have ICS.....?
From Dee-Hos's Skyrocket...
I'm sure he's talking about sky ics. Evervolv Preview 1 is the only ics for SR that I've seen. I've been looking for months just like everyone else with a SR.
I should have stated that it is sky ice cream sandwich sorry if it has caused any confusion

depends on what you want to change about it.
'editing a rom' is very vague.
for what you want, it could be as simple as using 7zip, open the rom zip and change the things you want.
or it could be as difficult as tearing it all down and decompiling the apks to edit the xml and smali
what is it you want to change?
Notification vibration length is one of the things its so short you would miss it on a hard surface right next to you that's where I wanna start once I learn a portion I'm sure I'd b set to go as far as editing other things as in signal and battery logos just basic simple stuff

I created a theme using UOT Kitchen and it appears that some of the items I had included aren't working. I'm currently on humble 4.22 and am wondering if the items aren't working with the rom. If anyone is up to trying this out for me and seeing if all items work on a gb build other than 2.3.5 I would be very thankful.
Items included in the theme:
BIOS boot animation (not working)
Red overscroll glow (works)
Battery indicator changed (works)
Signal indicator (not working)
Emoticons (not working)
Custom black and white and white and red load icons
All of this is on a black background and launcher pro. I was trying for a simple black and white theme. If anyone is interested I can post the zip file.
Edit: here is the zip file for you all. Try it out and let me know how it works for you, issues, and what rom you are running.

Okay well in the UOT kitchen the emotions are put in the framework-res.apk but for the phone calls them from the mms.apk so you will have to do it yourself with 7zip and then push to your phone. Also with the signal bars UOT places them in the systemUI.API which is right but there are 2 sets of them the phone call them from a different name which is the vzw_stat_signal_1.PNG but there are aleast 12 of them so just copy and rename the copies and then push the file. Oh and as for the bootanimation its probably named sanim.zip just rename to bootanimation.zip and you should be good to go. If you have more problems let me know I'm here to help.

Thanks for the reply. I extracted all the framework.res files from both my rom and from UOT. I'm going to go through and edit the battery icons and a few other items. The UOT files don't even include the signal indicators that I had selected so I may just end up making custom ones. Its really just a matter creating them, saving them as PNG files, replacing them, and pushing the framework.res file back to the phone, right?
Pretty much thats it!!! Did you upload the systemUI.apk to the UOT kitchen or just the framework-res.apk?
I uploaded both files. When pushing the files back to the phone will I need to delete the originals or will it overwrite them?
Sorry for the n00b questions but when it comes to this stuff I'm...well...a n00b lol

Yeah I have to agree the devs that work on these Roms and themes are pretty crafty and my thanks and appreciation goes out to all of them.
Also once you have finished the battery mod post new screen shots so I can see how its going?

I apologize if this thread seems pointless. I am just curious to see if some elements of UOT just do not work on EP3 based roms, if there was error on my behalf, or UOT just simply does not work as hoped.
One should not have to feel diminished because some are not up to par as others. It just baffles me that others would mock ones questions when the point of a forum is to help better understand and share.
So Locket just keep up the work and disregard what one might think or say. I'm download and view, ill get back to you!!

Releasing stuffed cooked up on theme kitchen rediculous. If you have questions, ask. Dont cook crap up on theme kitchen (on that joke of a "rom", humble) and call it theme. Theme kitchen is for personal use.
Now, if you are interested in learning to theme, pm me. I will get you my gtalk info give all the help you want to put out an actual theme.

I do realize that the kitchen is used for personal use and this isn't intended to be a full-on theme to be released to the masses. It is just me screwing around with it and seeing what options were there and see what I could come up with. I'm not much of a developer/graphic designer/etc. As stated, I made this post to see how well the kitchen worked with our phones, ep3, and if the items stated that aren't working are related to one of the two.
As far as the rom goes, its not too bad of a rom. I am personally a GC fan and since there isn't an ep3 GC rom yet I decided to go with this. Do you have any idea when you and the team are releasing a new rom?
I may have to take you up on your offer as I would like to learn to theme and will probably have loads of questions. Now that I have two different framework apks to look through I can sit down and compare the two and make some basic generalizations.
If this comes off as me being a **** that is certainly not my intention. I just want to clarify my reasoning behind this thread.

ep3 is the same as ep1 as far as the rom goes. ep3 was just a kernel update. if you flash an ep3 kernel you will be up to date.
if there is another gummy release it will be just a patch to fix some bugs. team gummy and team liberty have merged. the next release will be Liberty ROM for the Charge.
Ahh that I did not know, lol. This is the first GB rom I've run as I wanted to keep the reliability of ee4 (which didn't happen on GC 2.0) and wanted to wait for an official OTA. One of the options in TSM Parts didn't play well and sent my phone bootlooping and then decided to try out ep3.
I recently updated my Sensation to ICS, and I already love it, but I do kind of miss the CRT off animation. Does anybody know how to make a flashable .zip for just the on or off CRT animation? I personally don't really like the on one but I love having the off one, so if anybody could help me out with this that would be fantastic
No one is really focusing on CRT animations. I think the dev or mods are waiting on a stable release.
Oh yeah, that's true I guess. I'm running HyperNonSense and that seems to be pretty stable so far though.
Yeah, I'm waiting for CRT on off animation, too.

Short answer - I am working on it but a lot is different in ICS than the GB files I am using for reference and also my job is keeping me very busy at the moment so i dont have much time for it

I actually did search and I didn't see it come up. But okay cool to know that someone is working on it
Does anyone have any news regarding this?
Am so missing the CRT animation!!!
Thanks in advance.
it requires changing framework-res file...but all roms are in beta right now....by the time final comes, all will have different frannework...so modding a beta framework is waste of time...as.then you'll need to do it on every beta release...which is a pain in the a$$

I've got this installed (Sky-ICS, 7.4): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20451023
The thing is, there are some parts of the flashed theme I really don't like. Just little things. For example, on the bubbles that represent what home screen you are on have little numbers on them that look ugly, and I don't like the Market theme, and the power-button-holding menu's icons I don't care for. Is there an easy way to change specific parts of the theme back to stock Skyrocket? I figured out how to flash the battery back to regular, but that was obvious and on the front page of the Sky-ICS thread. Is there like a settings panel for the theme?
Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm new to Android and to these forums, and I've been searching around but haven't really found anything. Thanks!

I do appreciate the link, but I fail to see how it relates to my question exactly. Are you telling me not to brick my phone?
Nothing pains me more than the lag in the stock ICS messaging app when you hit send. The stupid animation doesn't look fluid, and it doesn't initiate at the right time.
I've been searching all over for an AOSP messaging app that will work with our leak, and I've found one that actually installs into /system/ but whenever you open a conversation it FC's.
I found it in the Galaxy s II app forum. Anyone know what we can do to get it up and running on our ROM? I've tried this on odexed and deodexed systems by the way.
Feel free to post your experience if you try to use it!
On a side note, I also tried the app that's in the market with ads, and it FC's the same way as well.

sorry to bust your bubbles but it won't work until its fixed from dev point of side. As far as actual sms app from cm9 then its forecloses and freezes system so thats a no go. i don't know what else to suggest.
We were able to take the cm7 mms and install it on nexus mod 4... Idk I'd like to have working one for ics but that's also along with camera and phone and contacts so i splits i should just wait till aosp rom lol

Let me see what I can do. Will update soon.
Any way I could get GB MMS/SMS app on ICS? I liked that it was black, not white, and obvious the forceclose issue (for me at least)
Would like the AOSP version but would be happy with the old GB version too.
How are people theming the stock TW mms.apk? I keep trying to decompiling, even with dependencies, and it's giving me a bad magic value error and won't decompile. Trying to compare the SR mms.apk to the AOSP one to see if I can make some edits to prevent the FC.

ahaha do you guys wanna know why? because samsung has changed "hex" code in their files meaning anytime when you decompile you'll get "bad magic value" lol. way around that is download apktool 2.0.0 then use 7zip manager and extract the classes.hex and then decompile with apktool not apk manager. and you're good. thank me if it helped which i know it will
Really hope that gets it working, looking forward to it!

For those decompiling system apps, you need to update adapt.bat with the latest copy from the android sdk and add the framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk resources to your apktool framework.
Copy the two apk files to your apktool folder. Then run 'apktool if framework-res.apk' and then 'apktool if twframework-res.apk' from a command line. You should be able to decompile after that.
If you're using APK Manager, your apktool script and aapt.bat is located in the apk_manager/other folder.
I've been able to decompile without problems. It's compiling that is giving me problems right now.

Looks like its an easy edit to force the lockscreen to be AOSP vs Circle. In the spirit of the guide you linked, here are my thoughts...
The .local v0 bit they reference in android.policy can be found in the createLockscreen method in LockPatternKeyguardView.smali, but I wouldn't quite follow what they say as to where things should be placed - mostly due to the fact that the CIRCLELOCK boolean doesn't exist in the stock android.policy. Instead I would focus my attention on an early conditional statement based on a boolean value that tells the method to go either down the Circle path or the AOSP path. If you eliminate that and replace it with something similar to what they posted in the guide you linked, it should work. I'll leave a little mystery to it for now, but if you don't want to try to figure it out I can tell you what to do more specifically - just wanted to give you a chance to tinker first
What's awesome is that the lockscreen works great right out of the box... this was not the case with the UVLF4 Gingerbread update so I was quite happy to see that.
Let me know if this helps
