[Q] WP7 BT issue - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I m having issue of my Focus's BT not working. Whenever i turn on the BT is goes into searching mode and doesn't come out of that.
anybody facing the same issue?
mine is OS version: 7.10.7720.68

Not exactly, but in my opinion WP's Bluetooth software is just horrible.
It has two options - on and off. You can't change your phones BT name, you can't be invisible with bluetooh on, you can't transfer files. My sister can't sync her WP with her car, whereas I (on Android) just turn BT on and it syncs instantly.
I hoped Mango would fix that, but it didn't. It's just crap.

bluetooth isn't the best part of wp7 for sure...but it sync easy with an headset or a car stereo...
reading some threads about it i found that samsung devices have the worst wp7 BT hadware...
still, i'm alright to say that files transfers should be enabled

hmmm....my focus synced with my car stereo once....but recently it has started go into "Searching" mode and doesnt sync with car stereo

I only use Bluetooth in my cars and all my previous phones worked perfectly (iPhone, iPhone3G, iPhone4, Lg Quantum, Samsung Focus).
The HTC Titan on the other hand sucks. My two vehicles handle things different.
The Challenger (factory BT) will hold onto the call even if the car is off and the door open. The call will switch back to my old phones when out of range (basically in the house) or i manually shut off bluetooth.
The Jeep (aftermarket radio) once you open the door with the car off the call goes back to the phone.
The Titan has a problem were 1/2 of the time when the call is transferred back to the phone either manually, because the car turned off, or im out of range. The mic will not engage. I can hear the person but they cannot hear me.

Haven't had a problem with my Trophy... previous car was a Lexus IS220d and it synced and worked fine.
Currently driving a Jeep Wrangler and only once I've had the "searching for device" issue.

Bluetooth on Wp7 is quite poor. You can not select, which service an adapter shall support (handsfree and A2DP). It always use both services.

Windows Phone's Bluetooth support is abysmal, but you know what's worse: Samsung's support for Bluetooth on Windows Phone. Their last firmware update for the AT&T-branded Samsung Focus reduced out-of-call Bluetooth volume so that it's way too soft and text-to-speech is impossible to use because you can't hear it. If you turn up your Bluetooth headset or car volume to compensate, then in-call volume is way too loud. There is no fix or solution, except to restore the old firmware through Zune's backup. I've been running 2103.11.3.3 instead of 2103.11.8.1 for about 5 months now. I couldn't be more furious about Samsung and AT&T's lack of urgency to fix, or even acknowledge this. I'd even deal with the disappearing keyboard (as I have anyway) if it means keeping Bluetooth working. Regardless, after this experience I will never buy a Samsung phone again.

WP7 lacks rSAP, and for many of us with European cars are SOL. Wish Microsoft would listen as many of us have complained about needing rSAP.

How can I force a specific bluetooth profile?

Hi all,
I am trying to use the factory bluetooth integration in my car, and from everything I've read, it requires SAP (or rSAP?) to work properly. I've never had trouble pairing to the bluetooth module, but the car still insists there is no phone.
After messing with it yesterday and installing SAPSettings, I can hear the speaker of the phone in the car's audio, but no microphone, and it still says "insert phone" in the car's phone menu as apposed to downloading the phone book and letting me dial on the screen.
The phone lists the SAP profile among many others, but if I go into the settings of the car's bluetooth connection, it only lets me choose "Hands Free", with an on/off checkbox. It seems like thats what it sensed was available from the car, and offers nothing else, but I'd like to force SAP instead.
Car: MB E-Class
Phone: Sprint HTC Touch
OS: WM 6.5
Thanks!
I'm going to put the official windows mobile 6.1 on it to see if it makes a difference.
bluetooth is a long list of various profiles
problem is that devices only need to implement 1 or 2 to call themselves
bluetooth devices and no if the maker of the bluetooth stack in both ends
didn't implement a profile you can't force it
I have this problem trying to get my HD to connect to my landrover freelander 2 hse. I can get it to connect to the phone, but cant get the call to play thru cars speakers.
Dont bother with winmo 6.1 or official rom, just doesnt work at then (cant connect).
Only way i can get it to work is with winmo 6.5 (manila 2.5) (profiles must have newer or more stable settings). Only thing i have to do then is to make a call (normally voicemail) turn privacy on, then off again and voila it plays thru speakers.
Downside is i have to do this everytime i start the engine.........
Now that probably doesnt help you much but you will probably find from your car manufacturer that you device is not supported with you cars handsfree bluetooth kit.
the only one fully compatible with the freelander 2 is................. an phone

Bluetooth Buggy

OK, so I am curious as to whether or not anyone else is having issues with the A2DP performance on this guy. When it works its great, sounds pretty good for BT. But here are two issues I have found.
When playing music over bluetooth, get/make a call it switches to handsfree fine, but when is switches back it the music clips on and off.
2nd. It seems to only pair with one A2DP device. I have a blackberry bluetooth gateway which works great. But when I pair it to my pioneer head unit, it only connects to the hands free profile, not A2DP. My deck works fine on all my other devices. I have to delete both pairings, reboot, and re-pair.
Idk but are they Bluetooth 4.0 compatible?
Hey,
So I do not have my HOX yet but your problem reminds me of another issue with bluetooth on some other phones.
Try this when you set up your pairings make sure you pair it FIRST whit the device you want to do A2DP streaming on (probably your head unit) then set it up with any other devices. Some times some phones or bluetooth head units will only connect A2DP with the first devices that it is paired with (what is some times considered the primary device).
Also when it cuts out on your rather than messing with your phone shut off your head unit or BT mount for like 15 seconds and turn it back on. Also toggle it off on your phone then toggle it on after the units are powered up. I had that bug with music after a call happen a lot in the past but it turned out it was my BT unit on my visor (it needed a firmware update) but still shutting it off would usually fix it.
EDIT
Also see if you can update the firmware on your BT units. If the phone is using 4.0 and they are using 3.0 there could be some comparability issues.
I have issues with my bluetooth also. Sometimes it just won't connect to my car's bluetooth. Usually it seems like it happens when it connects then i turn off the car, then when i go back in the car(like running in to the store real quick then coming back out) and it wont' reconnect unless I restart the phone. Not sure what the problem is.

Chevrolet MyLink and Google Maps Navigation

I have a rooted Galaxy S3's and updated the software from 4.1.2 to clean rom 4.3 this last Saturday.
I have a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro with MyLink. I've only had it a couple of weeks.
I swear that when I played music via XM, USB, or FM while I was using Google maps navigation, and my phone was connected via Bluetooth, that it would say the directions through the speakers over a lower volume of music, then raise the music volume once finished. This week this does not occur. No directions at all over the speakers yet everything else works like normal, like the audio on the car, and the navigation on just the phone speakers.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? Was there some information I missed in relation to MyLink and Android versions?
Thanks!

I know this is old, but I'm in the same boat as you. I have seen some Iphone users find a goofy work around, but I do not know the Android method. I have my phone connected via bluetooth, bringup google maps and navigate. No audio through the truck speakers (2014 silverado with 8" mylink). Everybody wants some of your money, so GM would rather make their own apps work for you... Like Bringgo . I would even use Bringgo, but they only released it for a few vehicles. Guess you use Onstar or pay $800 for the nav module.
GPS Audio
I know this is old, but if anyone was still having this problem here is your answer. When you have your phone paired to your car you have to turn to blue tooth on your radio to here your phones GPS/you tube vid or anything coming from your phone besides phone call ( because it goes in phone mode automatically).
If anyone knows how to hack your mylink to play text msg or to mirror your phone please let me know.
thanks
is there any way to add maps and navigation to my linby on stark the factory setting only has turn by turn
If you can't hear the directions it's because you've turned down the volume for navigation. It's easy to do accidentally. To fix it, start up a new navigation route and when the music lowers to give the nav a chance to speak, turn up the volume nob. You just need to correct the balance. Happened to me and I stumbled across the fix.
I used to have the same problem. The issue is actually with how your phone talks to the car. There is usually a delay when a phone is transmitting audio by bluetooth. Some phones simply transmit the information slower than others. I had the same issue with my LG Optimus F3 and chevy cruze; i would rarely get any audio directions, and when i did, they were cut off. That all went away when i switched to an LG Vortex. Now i don't have any problem at all.

Bluetooth issue with car stereo

EDIT: KNOWN ISSUE https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/GS8QA/page/1/thread-id/299
Anyone else had any connectivity issues? 2013 Toyota 86 and i cant connect to the car stereo... may be time to get Android Auto, finally have a reason
But, in the meantime, i would love to hear from you if you've managed to connect.
2016 Ford Mustang GT with Sync 3. Android auto and bluetooth both work as expected with 0 issues (other than personally I think android auto blows monkey chunks.)

Have a 2015 Camry Hybrid and don't have an issue connecting to my Entune Audio system.
14 Grand cherokee SRT with 8.4 Uconnect and no issues at all. My iphone 7 plus wont stream smoothly to my headunit (choppy audio) but the S8+ does.
No issues connecting to the aftermarket deck in my jeep or the factory system in my 2017 work Chevy Equinox.
No problem connecting with the radio on my 2016 RAV-4.
2011 civic. No issues other then it takes a little longer to connect than my last phone, and my car no longer displays artist/track info. Hopefully it'll get fixed in an update.

Unfortunately, it won't happen. Samsung phones haven't displayed metadata on Civic stereos since the Note4. It's something about Samsung's custom Bluetooth stack when they upgraded it to Bluetooth 4.0; it doesn't offer full backwards compatibility. It will connect and play audio and even respond to controls via BT, but no metadata. And those apps that circumvent the issue by transmitting metadata in an alternate way, none of them work. We Samsung/Civic users have been fighting with this for a few years now to no avail.
And Honda doesn't put out updates for their stereos, so nothing will ever be fixed from their end. The only "solution" is to get a different stereo or a newer car. Or a new phone.
That's the worst part – every other phone works fine. iPhone, LG, Motorola, Pixel... It's just Samsung phones that don't play nice with older Honda stereos.
I am having an issue where call audio and contacts work between my T-Mobile S8 and Kia Optima EX 2012 with the Navigation/Infinity system, but no Streaming audio. There is no option on my phone for it, and I can Enable/Disable Streaming Audio on the car, pair, unpair, try different combinations, even factory reset the head unit and the Bluetooth on the head unit. Nothing so far. My car does show what's playing, but it still only plays through the phone and I can pause, skip, etc. from the car.
Anybody else had/has the same issue?

I know you posted this a while ago - but I have never had issues connecting blue tooth to my personal car (BMW X1) - I also travel heavlily and I have never had issues connecting to a variety of different rental cars, Fords, Kias, Toyota, etc.
Hope you found a fix or got it working
Stock stereo in a 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser. I have no problems connecting, streaming audio, or making phone calls. My audio streaming does play with a lot of cracks, but it still plays. I might mess with EQ settings but I haven't had a chance yet.
2015 WRX with stock stereo (no nav, non-Harmon version). Here are the seemingly random issues I have with bluetooth:
- Connects fine most of the time, but will sometimes connect and the audio will be muted and requires me to pause the track on my phone and then press play.
- Audio will cut out at times and revert to playing through the phone's speakers, but the phone will still be connected and call audio will play through the car speakers and I can still control the track next/previous with my steering wheel controls.
- Audio will not connect sometimes when my wife is in the car wearing her FitBit, even with my phone's auto discovery turned off and nearby devices turned off.
- Track info sometimes gets stuck on the currently playing track and will not change until the car is turned off, the app is closed and process killed, and connection is made again.
Like I said, these issues appear to be random and seem to get worse when someone else is in the car with me or when I'm wearing an Android Wear watch. I've played with every connection setting I can in my phone but I'm sure this all boils down to it being a crappy stereo system. Nothing like being on the freeway during the beginning of a long commute and having my music cut out on me and having to switch back over to the (ugh...) FM radio.

I have the same issue. Sound is clear, music plays fine, wheel commands work fine... even the contact list, which only showed partially (200 contacts or so), now shows all of them...
But Title/Artist/Album do not show up, only says Samsung S8.
How do I enable the metadata?

As I outlined in my post, you can't.
Why not?
I have the same issue, calls work, changing track, music playing, good quality of sound, contact info, full phonebook (on the S2 it was just 200 contacts or so).... but no media metadata! This is software issue and it seems that in other units than the Civic (maybe post AVCRP 1.3) it works...

Connecting to Multiple Bluetooth Devices at Once?

Coming from the Galaxy S8, I was kind of disappointed to find that the Pixel 2 apparently only connects to one Bluetooth device at once. For example the phone will only connect to my car but not my headset at the same time as the S8 did. I like having that because when you don't want to take calls on the car speaker you can just send the calls to the headset without much issue. Is there anyway to get the phone to connect to multiple devices? Any mods that are available to get it working?

I've not figured out a way. In fact, as of the 8.1 update it made my bluetooth worse. When I connect to a BT device, rather its my headphones at the gym, or my car, I have to dial something and hit "dial" on my dialer. When I do that it makes the hangining up sound and then is free to be used for other things. Quite frustrating, really. :crying:
I had my p2 connected to an aftermarket head unit in my vehicle and set it to media only, connected to my Bluetooth ear piece for calls and shared my internet via Bluetooth to my PS vita at the same time. You just have to play with settings for each device.

I have wondered if its an issue with a mismatch between the two bluetooth devices.
It looks like this has been addressed somewhat in Android P. I am running the beta that was released yesterday and the device is now connecting to multiple bluetooth devices. There is a quirk that requires you to go into the bluetooth menu to change the current active device (Think it might have been like that on the Galaxy too) but it does maintain the connection to multiple devices now. It does automatically switch when you turn off one of the devices, such as your car, so this is definitely progress on this front I think.
