Hello beautiful, sorry for my bad english!
We can write here, comparing ideas and impressions of all, what is the best configuration to protect the battery?
It may seem an obsession, but now it is summer and it often happens that the cells can not just load it because I have an outlet in attack.
So often I stay off her cell phone.
The Nexus S promises, but together with your expertise, I would like to figure out how to stay on the nexus s for as long as possible.
To understand Configuration: os (cyanogen, stock, AOPs, etc. ...), the kernel, governor settings, launcher, widgets, various tricks (NFC disabled) ...
There were?
Can we make the battery last for three days ?!?!?!?!?!!
-------
Let me explain, I have the latest nightly cyanogen, the 88. Off data always when I'm around and I do not use the internet. I do not need the push, so no active sync. The wifi I turn it on only at home or at work, I have WhatsApp, twitter and I uninstalled facebook to try what were saying that facebook consumes battery. I have launcher pro and Gtasks widget for notes in gmail, news and weather widget for news that is updated every 6 hours, if it's on the Internet, and then all program icons. I have installed very few, narrow required.
The kernel is the 1.3.3 universal netarchy signed cfs (the bfs? Is not that I had to use the bfs what do you think?).
This afternoon I used the GPS a few minutes to find an address, then he arrived, I turned off the GPS and data, with the widgets "Power Control" modified cyanogen.
Some short calls since this morning and some short text messages, not even 10. Some web browsing on 3G, but not much.
Well, after all this I can tell you that after only 11hours 18minutes 5seconds the battery is already 42% (97% this morning after recharge).
I'm not coming to pass even 23 hours which is what you do with a simple stock 2.3.4.
What is the sense I'm in the kernel and cyanogen netarchy? Only to change some other small lockscreen?
I need the battery! And I have already explained why.
The other ROM that you have listed does not come from cyanogen?
They are not "pure" cyanogen changed? Implemented? Correct?
Let me know ....
The AOSP where they come from? They are like cyanogen, a family on its own? O derived from cyanogen, too?
Now I remove the cyanogen and try something else.
What do you suck a lot in my phone? WhatsApp? Imagine if gripping always-sync data and as some of you! Not even 10 hours would last.
In the processes running there: Settings - 1 and 0 process services (21MB), WhatsApp - 1 process and 2 services (8.8 Mb), Market - a process and a service (11Mb) Maps - a service process and 1 (5.8 Mb) Google services - 2 processes and one service (15Mb), keyboard Android - a process and a service (8.9 Mb) - TOTAL: 153Mb used and 152 free.
It's right? Do you have it?
I just do not understand where mistake ... help me ...
That's a great idea, but in the wrong section
on a stock deodexed rom and stock kernel im on 2 days 4hrs and 42 seconds off charge. on a stock battery on my ns4g... this is amazing to me, im still sitting at 23% too. LOVE IT!
Wow!! Formidable! Stock 2.3.4 is better than cyanogen nightly 88??

Wrong phone for 3 days of battery. Only way, personally, I can see you getting that, is to turn all functions off and leave it on standby without doing a thing with it for 3 days.
You should get 3 days of battery no sweat off a cheap nokia, but that's not as much fun to use is it

I don't think I can get that much battery even if I leave the phone untouched for 2 days! Lucky you
Im dead serious too guys. Im running miks stock deodexed rom with a stock kernel. Set cpu set at stock with ondemand. As i type this im on 17%. Unbelievable for this phone!
Before it dies ill take a screenshot to prove it.

Wow. I'm already shaking. However, the very thing that makes me think, is that in the post that you linked there is a "Get accurate battery mod".
maybe the mod is the author of longer battery life?

No the battery mod is a battery percentage. The percent i showed you is in fact accurate. It says so under battery stats under setting and my phone has not been charges for over two days now.
Perhaps the problem lies with the governor.
In my Cyanogen i have the governor smartass (100-1000). Now try with ondemand 100-1000.
Perhaps this is the problem, Watson!

Heyy,,as the topic says which is the best custom ROM for Sensation and which ROM has good battery life?
You will get flamed for your post. Every rom its unique to its dev. Threads like this create a barrier for devs where one dev will get more quentin than another cuz of a thread like this. I suggest you try out the roms personally and stick to one you yourself prefer

my thoughts exactly, plus, have in mind that the very reason for an open source OS, a rooted device, and rom development, is that different people need and want different things out of their device.
cheers.
It differs even with exactly same install for two different answer. There is no combo that would work the same.

Would it be useful to have a thread that posts comparisons for each rom so users can compare key features side-by-side and objectively decide which might suit them best, without having to download and flash every single one?
Things compared could be key distinguishing features, kernels supported, average reported free ram, benchmark scores (controversial I know).
Just a thought
I tried 2-3 roms but atleast i think insertcoin is the best.Very very fast and smooth but best of all the battery life is amazing.

Agreed and I just flashed coredroid 2.3. So far only on complaint battery went down when first flashed.. expected.. but the problem was I plugged in my phone and turn it off then battery would not charge. Too dead to turn on. I got past that and now battery is a lot better have used non stop for about 12 hours and down to 30 percent
Would normally have to charge after about 6 on stock. So no complaints. Also I'm partial to the blue skin

+1 for Coredroid 2.3, although I need to calibrate my battery, I flashed at 60%, when it died, I swapped batteries. So far 41 % left, just over 12 hours with 2+ hours screen on. I get over a day on stock ROM with medium to heavy use on my Anker battery.

It's not just the rom you run its the custom kernal that helps out. I run Virtuous Inquisition 4.01 and I use the Socali 1.2ghz underclocked kernal for better battery life. Even though I do a lot on it I can manage to get about 20 hours on it, lots more if I don't play videos or music.
i just tried almost every rom and i made this result:
battery life:
1. opensensation (latest update)
2. android revolution hd 6.6.3
3. OrDroid 2.2.0
[..]
performance
1. android revolution hd 6.6.3
2. hyper slite insertcoin 5.3.0
3. virtous s4v alpha3
this result are totally objective.. it is just my opinion.. i didnt test elegancia rom out because its not my favor
when i flash in a ROM i will probably take Revoulution 6.6.3 .. seems really stable..
I use ViperS 1.6.3 and BrickedKernel 3.0.36 and the performance is GREAT!!
But it drains battery .... omfg, more than stock
But it's a nice rom and with heavy usage you can use your phone for quite a day... so the balance between battery drain and performance is quite okay, so it is like I think

I DIDNT CRACK/FLASH MY PHONE SO PLEASE POST ANY LINK TO PROCEED
i want these apps to work without force closing:
camera like HTC AMAZE
phone calls
HTC SENSE 3.5 (i dont want it like SENSE 3.0, it will restarts every time i uninstall any app)
GTALK WITH VIDEO CALLS
WITH MORE BATTERY LIFE
Bluetooth with audio output
For what you're after I'd have a look at the InsertCoin ROM

What does crack/flash mean. It's S-OFF'ed right?
I would recommend Bulletproof. ARHD eats batteries, and when I was on InsertCoin it was slow and camera FC'ed.
Bulletproof if you want a Sense experience. That ROM is very solid and under appreciated. I like to bounce between Bulletproof and CyanogenMod.
Sent from my CyanogenModded HTC Sensation 4g.
I have to say its Bulletproof for me at the minute, battery life is brilliant compared to any of the others I have tried.
Ok so, I hope this doesn't in terms become a thread jack but, I had recently installed Andorid Revolution HD by Mike and it had it's ups and downs for me, but I wanted something else. My friend had recommended that I try out cyanogenmod, which I did, just flashed it last night. Now the major difference I've noticed is, no HTC sense and very empty, which I liked because it gave me a sense of room to customize my phone more.
The only problem I'm having is, when I had the Revolution installed my battery was much more signficantly better than it is right now. I've done battery calibration and I've had it drop down to at least 25% and then I went to full charge last night. Today I used the phone to drop it down to 38% and then I went to full charge and this is all without any phone calls. Just text messages and Facebook, anyone know what I can do to improve battery life?

Underclock your cpu there is no need for 1.5 really
Use juice defender to manage your connections, (turns them off and on when screen off and on)
Try different kernels
Keep screen brightness down
I find all roms don't report battery stats totally accurate, more so in cm7 builds,
Bare in mind sense 3.5 is in beta
And...
CM7 is still in alpha
If you want perfect builds you'll be waiting a little while
I find insertcoin the one with least errors
But I've not tried bulletproof I will do tho tonight

You just flashed it, expect your battery to be really bad for the first four cycles or so. Fully charge and discharge at least three times. Once it stabilizes, your best bet is to exercise battery conservation practices, like Juice Defender mentioned earlier.

Oh alright, I'll give Juice Defender and Bulletproof a try as well. Yeah I do understand that CM7 is still in the alpha stage.
In terms of "best roms for sensation," what makes CM7 so much more popular? Or all the available roms out there like InsertCoin, Revolution, Bulletproof are just as popular but it depends on the user preference?

Does it protect against the cell standby draining problem? Because that is the only issue.
I thinks so it disconnect all networks activity when idling or standby it helps me I use it and during an eight hour school day I only lost five percent battery while my phone was just sitting in my pocket u can also use setcpu to underclock/volt your phone when the screen is off to save battery hope this help if so slide down to the thanx Button

You're not the only one. Over the past few days something has defiantly changed. Cell standby has been extremely high. It's currently sitting at 57%, followed by Phone idle at 24%, WiFi at 9%, and then Android System and Display at only 2%.
ROM: Newest MIUIAndroid (NOT TDJ's)
Radio: Stock
I have tried everything to fix this issue but nothing seems to work. Maybe its the radio?
watch out there have been more than a few instances were t-mobile network has been messing up and will trash your battery.

FYI, Cell Standby is usually on the top of the list for MIUI and AOSP builds for consuming the battery. its perfectly normal. but 30% in an hour?? could be your radio, OC too high, rogue apps, etc... radio thread is in my sig
Its more than likely an app unless you have it overclocked really high.
If you recently installed a new app try uninstalling it and seeing if you get better battery life.

well since its not an app we can cross that out. what are your OC settings with setcpu? or are you even overclocked? and which radio are you on? Could be an old app then. Since its on two different roms I am almost certain its an app. Assuming your not overclocked. None of our radios drain the battery so it's Def not that.

Setcpu is set for "smart-ass" and at 902 max, 122 min. I baseband version is "12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M"
^ Basically the same as mine, just I'm using MIUIAndroid instead of MIUI.US. Cell standby is currently using 39% of my battery and the change in battery performance has been very noticeable. Should I maybe try one of the new radios?
I just flashed the newest radio listed here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059347 I'm hoping that it will improve battery life.
Any luck with the new radio?
i've tried to find a solution to get the most battery life you can have with the sensation. i've tested a few things and most things are confirmed by me and a friend to work.
if you all ready know this then dont complain at this thread, some people dont know this and im just sharing my foundings on the battery life.
first thing to expand the life is simply:
flash a proper radio..
every radio works different for every country
for me the latest radio (10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2) isnt stable..
im in the netherlands on vodafone and somehow it does have low signal strengt
this is affecting your battery alot since it have to search for signal alot..
it will also prefent your phone to go into deepsleep
the 10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01 works for me the best.
second part is the kernel
the 2 most used kernels are Faux and bricked
personally im using brickeds latest 1.6b1 on MIUI 1.11.18 (yes i know its a sense and not an AOSP kernel but its giving me a good battery life)
this kernel does have an awesome good deepsleeping function and still its performing like a beast.
i dunno how the faux kernel is doing since i dont use it so its up to you to test whats the best kernel for you.
3rd is apps
download a battery useage monitor to see if apps are prefenting your phone to sleep well and download a CPU monitor to see what apps are using a lot of CPU
for me laditude was prefenting my phone to go to sleep and maps used most of the time 100% CPU usage.
i dunno yet how this is possible but if you dont use those delete them or make sure to forcestop then is system/apps
another thing thats proven on PC monitors..
black is using alot less power so if you can aply themes and you dont care about how the UI looks like,
then give a dark theme a shot
it can give you 5-10% more on the battery life
also some people uses task killers. they think it will expand there battery lifes with killing apps.
wrong. most TK are killing apps that are needed for the phone to function
if you kill those apps it will simply restart so its using more power the restart the apps.
you can use a task killer but only kill apps like games or apps that are not needed by the phone
example
you can kill angry birds but you cant kill maps
maps will simply restart thus your phone needs power to restart
and last but not least
it might sound strange to you but i've read somewhere that underclocking the cpu might be negative for the battery
for example..
HTC allready underclocked the sensation.. and people are underclocking it even more (stock is 1.5) (htc clocked it (1.2) and people are clocked at (1.0 or even lower)
i dont know yet if this is 100% true but whats the deal to clock the cpu back to 1.5ghz? if its not working for you clock it back.
my setup now is
bricked 1.6b1 with miui 1.11.18
clocked at 192-1.78 and screen of to 192 - 864
screen brightness in +_ 1/3 of the bar
wifi always on but when i go away i turn it off
using fauxclock 0.75
im getting.
slight usage 20-25h
moderate 10-13h
heavy usage 7-8h
slight usage is for me
checking mail a few times
make some calls
check XDA a few times
and texting like 20-40 times
mostly screen off
heavy usage is like
playing a lot of games (NOVA 2 and Worldwar)
lisening to music alot Like 2-3h
check XDA all the time
and call and text a lot
i hope you guys see something new in this thread
and if not BUT you got something else, tell me and i will test it and update the thread
Underclocking does not reduce battery life.
Set your screen-off to the same as your screen-on speeds and watch your standby times plummet.
This is not voodoo, it is physics.

What it very much looks like is that you've seen someone go "hay guise if I spin around in circles three times chanting various incantations, my battery drains 2% slower olol' and because you don't understand this is ridiculous, you're going to post it, make other less-informed people believe it's real and generally reach inane and pointless witchcraft solutions that make the problem worse rather then better.
But hey, you carry on.

There is no perfect radio lol. Its very location sensitive. If you are not even experiencing any problems with the current radio I dont think you should ever change it.

Just get a Anker 1900 mAh Li-ion Bat to replace the OEM junk...
+1 For the Anker battery just swapping out the orginal battery for the Anker has solved my problem in having to charge the phone at work.
I think swapping out for a bigger batttery would be the best bet lol
+1 to the Anker battery.
I am running a stock 02 UK Sensation and was getting just about 1 full day ( approx 16 to 18 hours from Bed to Bed !) before the charge reached a critical level with the stock battery. So it always REALLY NEEDED an overnight charge.
Since changing to the Anker battery i can get from wake-up to about midday or beyond the NEXT day before it really NEEDS a charge.
I do realise this isnt very scientific, but it is an accurate guess-timate of the difference the Anker battery makes using same phone is same locations.
So the short answer is this: before you spend toooo much time tweaking things, get a better battery which will make more of a difference than any other factor.
I testes downclocking..
Conformed for me when I downclock it to 1026MHz it reduces battery life with 15%..
Tested against 1.78ghz
Underclocked 20h
Overclocked 23h
Both usage where almost the same
