I rooted my G2 about two months ago. I'm currently using MIUI, not the latest but the one before it. Somehow, my phone got turned off and when I tried to turn it back on, it was stuck in a bootloop. I have a custom recovery image so I don't know if that affects anything. I tried to reboot into recovery by pressing volume down and power, nothing happened. I then did volume up and power. It vibrated three times and the orange light started flashing. I pulled the battery and now when I try to turn it on, nothing happens. So how do I reboot into recovery and so I can restore my backup? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Installed JellyBean via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114 and installed the recovery per instructions (VRBLK3 Bootchain with ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.1.2). However any attempt to boot into recovery leads to a blank screen and then reboots normally. Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you did everything according to the guide it should be fine.
Try plugging the phone into the charger before holding home, power, vol +. Sometimes the combo is a bit stubborn and won't work without being plugged in or on the first few tries.
I've done it unplugged and plugged in probably 30x each out of frustration. No dice x-(

Make sure you release the power button IMMEDIATELY when the phone vibrates and keep holding the Home and Vol + buttons until it boots into recovery. When I have had it go blank and reboot it has almost always been because I held down the power button too long. However, as stated above you have to sometimes plug in the phone if the battery isn't close to 100% charged. The only other thing I can think of to try is to pull the battery for about 10 secs or so and then put it back in and try again.
Wasn't releasing the power button thanks! Never ran into that before... Hmm

hi all,
I recently returned my tab 2 7.0 (3110) to stock firmware from sammobile, after reading a few tutorials and experience of flashing a few devices i downloaded the firmware, extracted and flashed through odin 1.85, everything went ok and the device rebooted.
the device starts up, makes the standard sound and shows the boot logo.but it just keeps cycling the boot logo.
i cant seem to get the device into any mode, recovery or download, it just ignores all vol up and down presses and continues to boot.
any help you can offer is appreciated.
If i can get anything to work in the mean time, i will update.
Have you tried holding those buttons for 10 seconds?
Hold the buttons until the screen turns off.
Resolved now had to let the battery run out, plugged the charger in then managed to get into the e3 recovery, did a factory reset and it booted fine.

Ok, so here's the thing. I flashed this theme, but it's not working and my phone won't boot. So I try to boot recovery, only I can't seem to get it. I hold down vol up + power till it reboots, then hold down vol down to get into recovery. Except it just keeps trying to boot, and doesn't load recovery. Anything I can do?
This is scaring me a lot. Need help. Thanks.
Ok, figured it out. The bootloop would go to a black screen when it froze. To get to recovery, I needed to switch to vol down 1 second before the HTC logo popped up. I used a timer to time myself properly and pulled it off.
In recovery, wiped data, restoring nandroid. Should be back up and running shortly.
I had a bootloop while on CleanRom 1.2 but since no one else reported it I just assumed that it was something I did. Probably was too.
Came back to my phone this afternoon and it was restarting. Put it down to let it boot, and 5 minutes later, it was still booting. Then I noticed that it was in a boot loop. Tried pulling the battery and putting it back in, then holding the power and volume up to get to recovery, but it will not go into recovery mode. Need some suggestions. Has android 2.3.6 I believe, nothing special.

Hi, I don't know what is happening, but I've been having issues with my phone. I was trying to enter recovery and pressed the button combination for fastboot instead. After that, I tried to get out of fastboot, but it kept going back to fastboot. I noticed holding up for a couple of seconds would boot me into my OS. When I try to enter recovery, the screen goes black and it restarts the phone. It will just keep going in a loop if I hold the buttons. My phone was rooted with magisk and I uninstalled to see if that would help, but it didn't.
I installed an update(I use lineage OS) out of curiosity to see if it would boot to recovery. It booted to fastboot, but after restarting and holding the recovery button combo it booted to twrp and installed the update, then restarted. Now my stupid mistake made my phone unusable. Everything is the same, except Lineage is stuck at the boot screen now. Sometimes it restarts to fastboot, but other times it stays there for possibly infinity.
I don't know what to do. All help is appreciated?
TL;DR Fixed, I think my volume down button was stuck.
Nevermind, I flashed with miflash and still had the problem, then for some reason it worked, but only once. I removed my phone from the case and found that it was booting to os. It is still kind of hard to enter the recovery. I think hitting volume up was cancelling the volume down which was stuck, or something. Now I'm pissed cause I wasted so much time on nothing
