Can't enter recovery mode anymore (TWRP) - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Questions & Answers

Hi, I don't know what is happening, but I've been having issues with my phone. I was trying to enter recovery and pressed the button combination for fastboot instead. After that, I tried to get out of fastboot, but it kept going back to fastboot. I noticed holding up for a couple of seconds would boot me into my OS. When I try to enter recovery, the screen goes black and it restarts the phone. It will just keep going in a loop if I hold the buttons. My phone was rooted with magisk and I uninstalled to see if that would help, but it didn't.
I installed an update(I use lineage OS) out of curiosity to see if it would boot to recovery. It booted to fastboot, but after restarting and holding the recovery button combo it booted to twrp and installed the update, then restarted. Now my stupid mistake made my phone unusable. Everything is the same, except Lineage is stuck at the boot screen now. Sometimes it restarts to fastboot, but other times it stays there for possibly infinity.
I don't know what to do. All help is appreciated?

TL;DR Fixed, I think my volume down button was stuck.
Nevermind, I flashed with miflash and still had the problem, then for some reason it worked, but only once. I removed my phone from the case and found that it was booting to os. It is still kind of hard to enter the recovery. I think hitting volume up was cancelling the volume down which was stuck, or something. Now I'm pissed cause I wasted so much time on nothing

Non responsive fastboot and power button!!

Ok so, I was going to flash CM 9 v1 on my device, and when i was in clockworkmod recovery I noticed that the power button wasn't working at all.
I took out the battery and put it back and then it reboot itself and got stuck on the unlocked padlock screen.
Then i managed to boot it by pressing vol up and down at the same time and putting the battery in when plugged on the computer with the usb cable. This is the only way i can boot it. And after it runs a while it crashes and reboot into the unlocked padlock again. And this over and over.
Then I tried to go to recovery to reflash with the soft sensitive buttons and the fastboot screen doesn't do anything at all. If I press vol up or down to move around it gets stuck.
Got it to work a while and reverted back to stock rom with rom manager to see if fastboot worked again but nothing happened.
I need help to fix this.
I try to go to download mode but it doesn't work either. ADB works tho
Any suggestion??
(sorry fot the bad english)

Broken CWM

I have flashed the CWM from TF201 by accident. Now the tablet is stuck in that CWM mode. I can't connect to usb using adb mode. Power+volume down does not work anymore. Any way I can reflash the correct CWM?
THanks
If you can boot to OS - you can use fastboot to flash any recovery.. or flash TWRP from goomanager.
upd: sry..don't see about "stuck".

I have made the same mistake. Although I can get the device to fastboot USB mode. I have tried to use CWM with the restore I made before I put in Cyanogenmod 9, as well as putting on the Cyanogenmod experimental #2 for TF300. No error messages at all and it wipes data and cash without any problems.
But I get locked on the Asus boot screen and it does not continue ie I am stuck as well.
I have as well tried to use the TWRP 2.1.5. I get the Teamwin loggo screen, it wipes all the data and verifies all the filesystems and reboots. Still stuck.
Is the device bricked ?
upd:The TF300 can not be shutoff either. When you hold the power button the screen goes black, but after ~5 s the device is starting again and is still stuck on the Asus bootup screen.
if you reboot it holding vol down and power, can you get back into the boot menu, to reselect fastboot?
if holding the power button doesn't switch it off, what happens if you leave it to run out of batteries then do this?
then you can flash the correct recovery.img

Yes, I can get access to the fastboot and I have already tried to flash with the recovery.img. I have as well let the battery run out and tried it once more with the same result.
Still stuck on the asus bootup screen.
power
Hare,
I have same problem.tab cannot power off. Just reboots into cwm.
I was thinking to drain bat. Thanks for sharing that info.
There are a lot of topics about people who broke their devices with TF201's recovery.
Afaik, no one recovered it. Send to Asus.
So the device is bricked then :'(.
Thanks for clearing it up.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
RMA..
Guillaume,
Thanks for clarification.
I have read that ASUS wants 700USD for replacing/reflashing the bootloader. That was for the tf201. Any way to nvflash it back to factory? I don't believe that they have to change the MB.
I have no warranty left, but I don't want to be gouged by them either.
Any thoughts, info?
Hi,
I've do the same mistake, but I can use adb.
Do youhave any news about our problem?
Thanks
Midyr
unable to power off
My issue is that I have the CWM for the tf201. I did the update from the CWM app in Android. Bad idea. So now the tab does not power off s.t. I can get into the power+vol down mode. Adb does not work since I cannot ( don't know how) to make it go into the usb debugging mode. I have tried several things none of which have worked. Still stuck.
I wanted some feedback for a RMA from ASUS, posted it here but sor far no answers.
Not sure if it would really work, but on my Evo, I don't have to completely power off the phone to do the recovery sequence. I can do it during a normal reboot. There is a point just before the device starts booting again where it is technically "off", and if I hold volume down (don't even have to hold power on my Evo; volume down seems to be the only necessary button) starting at this point, the phone will boot into the bootloader.
So, next time the device reboots, just start holding volume down (possibly power also, just in case) at the "off" point.

HELP. Bootloop and I can't get into Recovery

Ok, so here's the thing. I flashed this theme, but it's not working and my phone won't boot. So I try to boot recovery, only I can't seem to get it. I hold down vol up + power till it reboots, then hold down vol down to get into recovery. Except it just keeps trying to boot, and doesn't load recovery. Anything I can do?
This is scaring me a lot. Need help. Thanks.
Ok, figured it out. The bootloop would go to a black screen when it froze. To get to recovery, I needed to switch to vol down 1 second before the HTC logo popped up. I used a timer to time myself properly and pulled it off.
In recovery, wiped data, restoring nandroid. Should be back up and running shortly.
I had a bootloop while on CleanRom 1.2 but since no one else reported it I just assumed that it was something I did. Probably was too.

Unusual bootloop - can't access recovery OR fastboot but loops on "optimzing apps"

Unusual bootloop - can't access recovery OR fastboot but loops on "optimzing apps"
I had my US version OpO 64GB working with CM12 for quite a while, rooted and bootloader unlocked with TWRP (possibly 2.8.6) installed, then some months ago I tried upgrading to CM12.1 through CM updater. This failed miserably - The phone started bootlooping on "Optimizing apps n of N" - as soon as it finished optimizing apps, the phone would reboot and start optimizing again. Booting to safe-mode (Power + VolUpDown) also fails in the same way (though optimizing fewer apps).
I tried rebooting to recovery mode holding Power + VolDown but it just gives a quick buzz (vibration motor) at the "1+" screen and reboots. The same thing happens when I try to boot to fastboot mode with Power + VolUp. So I'm completely stuck. All the guides show being able to boot either to fastboot or recovery (soft-brick) or else the screen being completely black/unresponsive (hard-brick). My phone is neither of these!
I got frustrated enough that I've let it sit on the shelf for the past 6 months, but now I'd like to fix this. All help appreciated.

Did you try clearing the cache and doing a factory reset ?

That's impossible for me to do since I can't get to launcher or recovery.
No acess to recovery?? Then better take it to service center... Atleast can u boot to fastboot mode or adb accesible then use oneplus one toolkits

Install oneplus tool kit, while optimising apps it gets dectected by pc, just make it reboot mode & do reset.... Dnt worry this can be fixed, if all these seems messy then take it to service center

while things are loading, have u tried to hold vol up + power for 10 seconds or until the screen turns off and then hold vol down + power button until the oneplus logo?

Yes, just tried it. Same thing as described in my original post. When I hold power+volup the screen goes blank. I switch to power+voldown until the 1+ logo. At that point:
1. If I continue to hold the power+voldown key through the 1+ logo, the screen goes blank briefly, the phone vibrates once and reboots. If I continue to hold the power+voldown key, the vibrate&reboot cycle continues indefinitely
2. If I let go of either the power button, the voldown button, or both at or before the 1+ logo, the phone boots normally and goes to "Android is starting... Optimizing app n of 119). When the optimization finishes, the phone instantly reboots.
It's like the phone recovery is gone or inaccessible. Could this have to do with the phone tampering setting? As I said, I had this phone rooted and bootloader unlocked, working fine with CM12 for some time before trying an in-place upgrade to 12.1. That's when things went south.

Stuck on error boot screen.

I'm stuck on the screen where it shows up that boot loader is unlocked etc etc, visit the link and press power button to pause, which does nothing.
I can get it to reboot after holding down volume+power key for 10 sec, but it reboots it to the same screen, Windows doesn't detect the device via USB and I'm lost and haven't found any solutions yet, help is appreciated.
Edit: nvm, got it to TWRP again, but I don't get it to root properly after flashing magisk, rebooting only gets me back to trwp every time...
Using stock in the meantime, scared af.
