Check in recovery to see if voodoo is enabled if it is disable it. It sounds like your SD card isn't being read properly by system. Once disabled use fb's busybox flasher to get busybox, then go back to recovery and enable voodoo.

[RECOVERY][3-2-12]Clockwork Mod Recovery

So I spent the weekend working on some things, and one of them was trying to get CWM fixed up. I believe that I have all of the problems fixed, but I can only do so much testing on my own. The button mappings work, and I have been using this and similar versions (bugfixes and such added since then) for about a week now. I completely removed backup/restore as my attempt to get it to work properly didn't work, so I'm guessing something else is wrong with it than what I initially found and reported to Koush. I will try to keep this updated as updates come out for CWM as well. Flash with Odin/Heimdall

Use the rear USB Ports on your computer if possible, and without a USB extension cable.
When in Download mode with the battery out, put the battery back in and uncheck Auto-Reboot in Odin. When done flashing, remove the battery and USB cable, put the battery back in and reboot - credit to jami2976

The button mappings work, and I have been using it for a day and flashing things and that works as well. I have not tested out backup/restore, though I did find an issue that may have been causing the problem and put in a fix, so I'm hoping that it works as well. If all goes well, we can start using this full time, or go back and look for anything else that may be causing problems.

Some have and some haven't. People that are having issues can't flash the package that I put together for the fix, but others have flashed it without issue.
One thing that may also be "broken" is data wipe in CWM, as it may get stuck on deleting /sdcard/.android_secure and I'm looking for why it's doing it and how to fix it.
My data wipe is good. I'm still trying to grow a pair and backup and restore lol

I was never able to get it to flash the packages unfortunately. It seems hit and miss, works for some, and not others.
Imnuts can we install this CWM any other way than Odin? I have been trying to get the Voodoo Kernel and CWM-2 installed but its an either or situation. If I install Voodoo kernel then CWM, I get a soft brick even though CWM says it passed.

3. seemed to flash a rom but everytime i reboot it goes into cwm.
4. I was able to odin fine
nevermind im stuck in recovery now. Can i restore with odin even tho i have the voodoo lagfix enabled before cwr bricked my phone?

thank you i hope that works. im dying
You can flash ANY Odin file to your phone regardless of what you were on and what you are flashing as long as you aren't flashing a kernel that does not understand EXT4 to your phone and you had lagfix enabled. If you are flashing a non-voodoo kernel (or one that doesn't understand ext4) make sure you are also flashing /system, /data, /cache, and /dbdata so that they get wiped out.
well my problem is i had lagfixed enabled. I flashed your cwr and i knew the risk. Know im stuck with the same problem as everyone else. lol so how do i disable lagfix? i can only get into download mode and the ed1 cwr fix isnt flashing. I still have lagfix since i never disabled before trying restoring. My backup was a rom that had the lagfix.
Thank you im fixed

Nothing happens when I flash anything

I have tried, through Clockwork Recovery, to flash several ROMs and kernels.
I tried a Tiamat ROM. Looked promising. After flashing it and rebooting, the screen showed the proper custom boot animation and then it went into Honeycomb. Everything was the same as before. Looking in system information, it still says that I'm on stock 3.1 and using the stock kernel. I tried the Tiamat kernel and the Blue ROM, same thing, it just never changes anything except the boot animation.
Troubleshooting I've done:
Tried to flash it with older versions of CW recovery
Tried to flash it through ROM manager
Anybody know why it's doing this ****? It's rooted 3.1.
How did you root?
I used this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1073884
I can confirm that the root is working perfectly fine.
Do you have access to your external SD card from honeycomb os?
The U.S. 3.1 doesn't work with MicroSD cards...does it?
EDIT: Nope, it doesn't work still. Just tested.
Do you have superuser? If not, you may want to reroot again. Something, may not have worked properly the first time.

Yep, I got superuser. ROM Manager even makes Superuser ask for root privileges before rebooting to flash, so I know that the root method I know isn't the issue.
I'm having the same problem.
I tried flashing the kernel, ROM, anything - it won't work. It just boots back to stock. But now I have a problem my wifi has an error.
Arrgh! The problem is RomManager's CWM. You actually CAN get it to flash things if you go into "mounts and storage" and mount /system and /data and all of that but DON'T. It will not work out well because it can not properly wipe system and you will wind up with a wifi kernel version mismatch (which will display as "wifi error" in settings). You need to flash the Tiamat CWM recovery from fastboot. I detailed the process for another person in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1152121
Relock US Xoom Tiamat 1.4.4 resulted in hanging at Motorola logo
By the way, you will have to do a full wipe of ALL of your internal storage (so make a backup on your computer) and flash the ROM from an SD card.

i9003 doesn't boot up (Can access download mode)

What's going on guys,I've got a problem here that I need your help with.
After flashing a new 2.3.6 ROM my phone just won't boot up, here's how it went down.
I flashed the new ROM and it worked great for about 1 month and suddenly it stopped booting up, since then I've tried flashing a huge load of ROMs trying to get it to work but so far nothing has worked.
I've tried flashing with the MMC in, without it and I've also tried flashing with and without the latona.pit file, as I said above nothing has worked.
After the flashing here's what I see in the Android System Recovery Menu:
Your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions

I can get the phone to download mode, and it shows the Samsung animation but without sound, and it keeps bootlooping.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok, so you were running a custom rom for a month, and for that month there were no problems. then, all of a sudden, with no further modifications and no alterations of any settings, it quit working? was it having any sort of problems, like difficulty booting or coming out of sleep, etc., or was it really with no warning at all? there was no overheating at all either?
what were your governor settings?
you say that flashing pit, along with the roms listed above, didn't work, but what was the message you got after running it in odin?

It wasn't a custom ROM that I installed, it was an official one that was posted on XDA.
No errors were shown in ODIN, the only errors are the ones on the phone which I posted above.
Yeah, it stopped working without me doing any modifications.
I flashed a one file rom and it worked great for about a month then it stopped working and I downgraded to a 3-file rom, flashing the 3-file rom WITHOUT the External SD gave the same error I've posted above, I flashed it WITH the External SD and it worked great for a few months but when I removed the SD card while the phone was on, it would just hang and I would have to restart the phone again with the SD card in which made me believe the OS was installed on the SD card. But this stopped working after another month and here I'm.
The problem right now is, I get the error despite whether the SD card is in or out.
I've done some research on this and I see that this problem MAYBE caused by partitioning issues that could be fixed with "dbdata.rfs" IN GALAXY S, (the same error has been fixed on the Galaxy S with the "dbdata.rfs" file) but I haven't been able to find the "dbdata.rfs" file in any of the roms for i9003.
did u unmount ur sd card before removing it?anyway,u can continue trying to flash other rom available since u can still enter download mode.do try flashing with rom that got bootloader(4files rom) on odin.
anyway, this thread actually belongs to general section man.do explore xda properly before u start posting a thread..
in addition to what rarap said, switching your sd cards with the swap is one thing that causes problems. I'm sure you know the purpose of the swap, but in most cases (or all, can't say for sure), these swaps don't fix the commands for ejecting sd cards, so even though you do the "eject" command, it will still give you the warning that you removed a card without stopping it, hence the hang when you removed it.
do a full five file flash. backup first, then reset all data, then flash pit, then 4 files of kpe and then whichever GB you were using (PDA ONLY!) and do not make any mods. then see if you have issues.

[Q] Attempted to root my i727r

Have a rogers S2LTE, running ICS 4.04.
I ran Odin and used cwm recovery, and used what I found to be the most recent TAR file for the i727r.
during the download procedure to put superuzer on the phone, I had one error aborted installation, but success the second time.
Everything seemed normal, albeit aside from a slightly slower speed in the operation of the phone.
The only reason I noticed something was wrong was the fact that superuzer didnt really do anything, I couldnt add any apps or get past the initial screen.
Also, titanium back up didnt work, stating it couldn't get root permissions.
At this point, I installed root checker and got a negative response on my phone being rooted.
I'm posting here as I'm not sure how to progress, and as the phone is running normally, and im not sure if any real damage is done.
Do I simply try to flash the phone with Odin once more? Or do I flash it back to stock, and factory reset, and then try to root again?
Thanks in advance.

just put superuser on sd and install from cwm.
no root access means no su binary's installed. su binary's will not install from the superuser in the market that's just a front end.

no. busy box has nothing to do with su. and rom manager sucks and you will have nothing but trouble if you use it. just download odin and cwm and superuser thats all you need to root that expensive phone.
Try the super user file located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565126

but used the newest tar file provided on one of the rogers ics rooting threads.
As nothing is visibly wrong at this point, could I simply retry to root? Or should I wipe everything first?
So i tried to reflash again and use the new hercules file in odin.
All went well until I went into cwm recovery to make a back up, it said the it couldn't mount and aborted.
I backed up onto the SD card and it proceeded, however, when trying to load the superuser file from the external sd, it also said it couldn't mount, and aborted there.
any way around this?

well if you would just try a non touch recovery you might be surprised.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1725221
this recovery works and this is all the help i can muster up. so now if you cant figure it out then i guess you shouldn't be flashing phones.
I have the same phone this is what I did
Flash phone with CWM use this one
Clockworkmod Touch 5.8.1.3 Odin tar http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1566613
Then wipe data/factory reset, format- system, data and cache, and clear the partition and dalvik caches, do that to all of them 3 times each, using touch cwm.
Then odin ICS download it from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
(make sure only Auto Reboot is checked nothing else)
Once the phone loads go through the setup then leave it alone, let it sit for about 20min then flash back the CWM. Then download Superuser from here and put it on the root of your SD card then flash it in CWM if it fails just keep doing it until it works, it worked the second time for me.
Once superuser is installed install busybox from the market and everything will work.
This method worked perfect for me I was having the same problem like you. The key is to wait about 20min after you flashed ICS before you do anything else.
Hope this helps you.
Well, the final superuser file worked, everything backed up perfectly.

I'm not entirely sure. After not being able to back up, I grabbed an external sd, put superuser on that.
The back up went through with no problems. Also, superuser installed on the 2nd try and all went well with permissions from there.
Friend of mine had picked a zip file labelled "root" to use with Odin, and I'm suspecting the tar files I had attempted with in the past weren't correct and this file was.
Either way, I have lots more reading to do to fully understand what is available to me now. Busybox, nandroid, ROM toolbox installed.
iv flashed my phone so many times that flashing stock and rooting seem tedious to me. glad you got it rooted, now make a nand backup so you don't have to do it again.
my 32 gig sd is filled with nand dumps lol i don't even have a game on it to play.

Phone bricked but not bricked...

RESOLVED
This is 4th brick and i normally know how to fix it but this time i cant fix it
Ok so one day my phone was acting up it wouldn't turn on
I flashed repartioned and flashed csc/phone/froyo from hawk (ODIN) - everything was ok
Then i flashed gingerbread (odin)- phone turned on everything worked
Afterwards i rooted it (super one click)- it worked
got sgs kernel flasher
Flashed antonx kernel for gb
when i tried to install cm9 it didnt work i checked logs and got this (im using cmr 6.0.1.2)
I: Cant partition unsafe device: /dev/block/mmcb1k0p
I:Cant format unknown volume :/external_sd
I: cant format unknown volume: /emmc
Any ideas?
Also i was trying to do this
flash froyo + everything from hawk
Flash gingerbread
root
get sgs kernel flasher
flash kernel
install cm9
install cm10
restore my cm10 backup
That's a lot of steps that aren't needed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498 2nd post, eollie's one click to stock.
1)Run that, you have stock GB, root, and CWM all in 1 click.
2)Reboot to recovery, wipe and install CM9
3)Profit??
Ill try that

What CM where you trying to install? Are phone doesn't use /emmc or /external_sd. That's why it failing. Wrong zip from the wrong phone. Look under your battery and tell us what the model number says before you go any further and end up with a true brick.
cmr
... after i installed antonx's kernel i tried to install cyanogen mod 9 and i was using the recovery included in that
And yes i know what phone i have.. sgs4g (sgh-t959v)
What Cm9? It's trying to write to partitions that this phone doesn't use. Link the ROM please.

That's really weird that your getting those errors. We don't use emmc or external_sd. Heimdall will get you set back up but I've never seen ANYONE in all the time I have had this phone report that error. That's why I was trying to make sure you had the right phone and ROM before you went any further.
now what?

how do i go from stock to mtd rom? (im on the "other one" i have a 32 gig sd card with EVERY single rom on that list, every kernel, every modem so basicly i dont have to download them)
before i just installed it through cmr but is that right?
I want to go from stock to cyanogen mod 9 MTD
Im creating a backup right now incase i mess up later
That's will work as long as the recovery is CWM 5.x or later. You used to have to flash CM7 first but I'm pretty sure Team Acid fixed it in the new CM9 build. Just check the MD5 of that zip you where trying to flash. Those errors are very strange and I'm thinking you might have accidentally gotten the wrong CM9.

Ok im installing..
Also if this works can i just restore my cm10 backup? or do i have to install cm 10 then the backup?
You can try to restore it. If it's the same version of CWM that you backed up from it should work. Just do all the wipes including system and data before you restore. If that doesn't work for some reason just flash CM10 than do an advanced restore of data only.
Works
ok it works... cid kinda scares me
I guess im going to restore my cm10 backup then...
And thanks for all the help
wow i have to wait five minutes between posts that sucks
restore
got an err when trying to restore E:/format_volume: format_rfs_decive failed on system
Guess im going to install cm10 then restore
What an exciting day... i went from froyo to gingerbread to ics and now to jb
Ahh
Ok so i found out that when i flashed kc1 to kc6 on odin i left the repartiton checked... so some files were missing and i guess that was the problem... what is phone efs clear on odin again? isnt it have to do with something with celluar communications
ok everything is back to normal (except a few apps) And thanks for helping out!
Some apps don't restore. Like xda for example. If I restore a backup it will say app not installed. When I reDL it from Play all my settings are still there though. So it's saving the cache and not the app. I've never really cared enough to look into it. lol
