ROMs for Gtab - G Tablet General

Been running Adam's rom for a while on my gTab.
I need a change.
Anything new ROMs to try out there? Give me some recommendations.
Thanks!

I have been quite happy with Flashback 9.0. Been running it daily for months, have found very few issues at all. It seems to be a nice stable 3.0.1 build.

The problem with this kind of question is that everyone has an opinion. I wanted as complete funtionality as I could get along with stability. Hardware acceleration was impt to me so I opted for Calkulin + Clemsyn Combo Overclock at 1.5 ghz V8. I know.... froyo 2.2- but I like that even the camera and Skype work (though the camera is pretty low qual). I miss the widgets and the look of more current Anrdriod ROM's but otherwise I could not be happier with speed and stability and programs that just work.
I am waiting on ICS to mature and have little doubt that I'll be headed there in what I guessing will be Spring/summer when the kinks are worked out.
Just do the 'backup thing' and try a few out. It's nothing to go back when you have everything backed up.

Thanks for the input guys! That's what I was looking for... A few suggestions.

I like the vegan tab beta 5 along with the vegan kernel its the best fully functional 1.1 rom I've tried. Its been a good while since I've tried anything in 1.2 but as far as I know most 1.2 roms are still be glitchy and have no Mic or camera so
yea

[Q] Any stable GB ROMs?

I have read a lot of threads and i get the impression that the GB ROMs are not and will not be fully stable until an OTA comes out, which as we know from VZs track record could be never. In any case, I am currently unrooted and running the leaked MR2 RUU. I absolutely LOVE it as it has rebooted on me once in a week or two. Being that some update will come out next week from VZ, I feel forced to root my phone. If I do, and want to keep this same level of stability it seems my only option is the froyo Eaton ROM based on MR2. Ideally I'd like to run GB, but with the instability and being that all of them have some known issue that isn't fixed, Froyo seems to be my only option atm. What would you all suggest? Thanks!
I have tried a lot of them. I have been stuck on the Thunderstick rom.
I have had no problems what so ever, but your mileage may vary. I am also on the mr2 radio, mr2.5 didn't play nice for me.
I have also been following what is going on at the3ry rom that would be the one I would jump to if I wasn't so happy were I am.
Just make the jump try them out and find what works best for you.
Try Das Bamf 2.1. It may have a bug or two but the thing is damn stable. I use it as my daily ROM. What issues were you hearing of?
Na man, try Gibgeritis muthafucka.

Thank you all, appreciate your responses. The problems I have been seeing range from wifi problems, to poor battery life, to reception problems with 4G, and interface/layout issues.
That sounds like the bugs CM has been having. AFAIK all the sense based GB ROMs are basically stable right now
You will have to decide (try) yourself. I am using Das BAMF sense 3 RC3. I have had no problems with it for the three days I've had it. WiFi works great, GPS great, I'll keep testing, but so far no problems.
I'm still on Bamf 2.0.v 5.. I haven't had any reboots or werid things ever. I'm new to rooting, I've only ever tried their time... From all the froyo up. Never had anything bothersome. Get about 29 hours with under clocking and juice defender

sense based GB ROMs dont have any of these problems (tried most, stuck on Gingervitis 3D v1.0 beta) and even CM7 when matched up with the right kernel (trial and error) is easily liveable as a daily driver. If you can live with the factory bugs rooted roms should be no problem. I dont get where the idea factory roms are issue free. Half the reason I installed froyo roms were to fix apps, GPS and other issues the factory software had built in. I havent had a random reboot yet since the developers got the kernels more stable or any other major issue and the rom is still a beta.
Das bamf 3.0 rc3 has been very stable for me everything works great and with rc4 around the corner its only going to get better

Hopped around to Various ROMs and have pretty much tried them all. My best ROM would be Gingeritis. Knowing that each phone will have it's own personality/just as the owner's do, I recommend to try them all and find what works best for you.
I have tried several of the GB roms, my issues have been more problems with the looks than the performance. I tried a few that had the clear button on the left, and one that had the transparent pull down and that just drove me nuts. I want just a plain on Sense 2.1 rom with GB. I don't need all the bells and whistles and graphics. Plain Sense and GB so I can use Netflix. Does anyone know of a plain ole Sense rom that is Gingerbread?

+1 I have enjoyed the ROM. Only issue I ever had was after modding my sense ring, I got a lot of reboots. Idk. Probably something I did.

bamf sense 3.0 rc4!!! so stable for me :]
Bamf 3.0 RC4 has been stable for me so far.
i'm on bamf 2.1 now, and my biggest complaint is that it does not provide voicemail notifications. I must restart the phone to see any voicemail notification. Do the other GB roms have this issue as well?

ROM?

What ROM/Kernel pair is the most stable, has EVERYTHING functional (camera, BT, ect..) and is better on battery the same if not better than GB 2.3.3, thank you

miui is really stable for me, and some cm7 nightlies, eagles blood 1.07 is better on battery than 1.08, and wepon g2x reboots on me.
right now im using miui 1.8.19 with go launcher and no problems. its very smooth
Lol way not to answer his question. MIUI is based of CM7 and cannot do AD2P. Try xboarders tweaked OTA ROM. Everything's functional and has tremendous battery life.

Haha well it is the official OTA (2.3.3) taken and tweaked for speed and performance and slimmed down and pre rooted, so everything works like it should and it's faster than ever especially when overclocked with faux123's kernel.

hey In my opinion mr hat is right you want xboarders stock ota tweeked rom you can get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158513
That was what I used before I decided to move on to Eaglesblood and give up my streaming music but EB is definitly the best ROM for me. For you it sounds like XB is the way to go. The only thing is you wont find any updsates or real support for it. Apparently Xboarder had a problem with some people in this fourm or maybee it was the other way around they had a problem with him but either way he is no longer developing for the g2x last I heard I think he is now working on the sensation but the rom does not need anything it is 100% functional in my opinion it is as good as it gets for a stock ROM with no real add ons just root and no crap on it. Let me know how you like it.
but isnt always certain that adding any kernel to that stock rom by xboarder will break video or is that issue related to other phones?

G2X or Not???
I have been debating getting the G2X. I am a bit bored and currently using a Vibrant on Bionix 1.3.1. The Vibrant works great with the new ROM, but I wanted the front and rear facing cameras, a flash for the camera, and the dual core would not hurt
Is it worth getting or should I just wait for the Galaxy S II? The G2X looks like a great device, but is there a lot of development for it (ROMS, etc)?
Problem with waiting for the Galaxy S II is the high price when it first comes out, so it would be a while before prices come down.

So far Eaglesblood 1.08 is by far the best rom it has the best battery use and it is the most stable it never crashed on me once I loved it 1.07 seemed good too but I just liked 1.08 better. weapon crashed on me 4 times in 3 hours so I did not even give it a full day to test. I usually give a ROM a week to see what it can do unless there is a problem from the begining. I am currently testing MIUI so far it looks like an I-phone piece of **** and but I kinda like it. I was able to put launcher pro on but as I am writing this post it is force closing everything it just started I guess it doesnt want a good reveiw LOL. Well Now it wont stop even after a hard boot and a complete powerdown and a permissions fix so thats it for MIUI it is not getting a week HMMM what next? Anyone? For now I am going back to goog old EB or maybee XB stock tweeked until I can figure out which one is next I like xb for 2.3.3 stock and the LG camera is just about done they have ver 3.0 out and they fixed alot of stuff I tried it out yesterday and it is really good props to those guys. Well if anyone thinks they know whice one I should try next let me know.
To the guy who was thinking of getting this phone I would it is a great phone the most user friendly device I have ever had and also the easiest thing to hack ever. If you like to hack phones or if you just like a good fast phone then this is for you. Good luck.

New to rooted inspire

Hey all,
This is my first rooted HTC phone (owned two others that weren't rooted) and had some general questions for all those who are rooted.
There seems to be a good number of roms out there and I'm not sure what a lot of the features each rom does, so the question I have is, what rom doesn't really overclock the phone and gives a nice stock functionality that is stable? I'm currently running the synergy rom but kinda looking to go elsewhere. I do apologize if this is a repost, again a new guy here to both the xda forums and rooted phones. Thanks for any help!
Its all about what you want outta ur rom, just gotta do ur research. I'm currently running CM7, and I must say Its stable.
I've been reading and reading and seems I just can't make sense of a lot of what each rom does..I honestly just want a pretty stock rom without all the bloatware that doesn't overclock the processor too much..thanks though for the quick reply!
You say CM7 eh? What do you like most about it?
I tend to shamelessly plug my own rom, so you could check it out.

To be honest i really like the CoreDroid Rom. It is gonna be based on your preference though. I went through about four roms before I decided CD was the one.
If you wanna keep it stock (Im assuming you want Sense) then I would go with Android Revolution HD ROM. It has Sense 3.0 which has some beautiful widgets and pretty effects, runs incredibly SMOOTH and is VERY VERY stable and fast. You can overclock with it but if you prefer keeping it at stock speed you can do that also. Bloatware is also removed and there a bunch of performance tweaks under the hood also.
Go with 5.2.6 which can be found on their website. 6.1.0 was just released but its still a little buggy so I would wait a month or so and see if Mike comes out with an update to fix the issues people are having. I use 5.2.6 and its, hands down, the best ROM I've used.
I would definitely recommend the same Revolution ROM that Matt has recommended.
....Matt, did you ever try running a benchmark test on Revolution HD 6.1? I seem to be getting a 1500 benchmark score, but with version 5.2.6, i was getting 2000.... Seems kind of odd to me that it would regress in performance. When I overclocked 6.1 to 1.2ghz, i still only got 1800 but the phone was noticeably snappier.
I am absolutely loving the new Revolution HD 6.1.0, It has changed my Inspire into a gorgeous model of phone epicness.
I'm pretty much a noob too and wanted the same stock feel like you. I'm using ClearDroid with no issues. and with the newst 1.2.2 version my GPS seems to be working better than ever. good luck
I have literally tried every Rom that you could use for Inspire. If you want stock I would recommend either cleardroid, pirateghost, or Inspirephacopida. They are all based on stock look and perform about the same as stock if not better. If you want sense 3.0 features then I agree Android revolution is the most stable. If you like themes and eye candy then coredroid would be the one. Again its really preference. Just try some out, you will know pretty quick what your willing to sacrifice and what you don't. I do recommend giving an aosp Rom a go just to see whether or not you like it. I would probably use an aosp Rom if it had the sense camera functionality.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Xda App.
I to am new to root but I am also new to Android. I thought I wanted a stock ROM also until I got ahold of MIUI ROM. It has a ton of themes and you can download widgets from the market. So like others have said play around until you find what you like!

[Q] Best ROM for the MT.

I'm coming from LG Revolution land and my girlfriend has the MT. She wants her phone to be like mine and be able to tether, get rid of the dumb VM boot animation (and the power off animation if possible), and have a different theme more like mine which is kindof like GB but at the same time completely different. Any help would be awesome.
Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me.
Also, I'm a major fan of the thanks button and I hit it everytime someone helps me out.
Let's see...
PunkROM has a couple extra themed apps and in some respects looks more like Gingerbread and sometimes a little different; it's also been out longer than mine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1262589
I built Black Lightning off Gingerbread (and PunkROM!) as a base, and integrated the safest and most stable-looking mods. So it's minimal, but theoretically powerful too if it needs to be.

For a minute miui was the best but now that the beta cm7 are fully functional and butter smooth I am finding myself less inclined to flash and that is amazing! Ruined my Samsung captivate while I was still learning, be very careful going back to froyo roms from gingerbread on that one. Darkys killed it! My Triumph however seems unbrickable and is overclocked and stable. The stock rom was a joke and I got rid of that clumsy bastard the third day. Thanx to all the devs for working hard and kikin ass!

In CM7 - You don't--at this time anyways--unless you don't mind certain things not working since the only kernel is old and outdated at this time or unless you build your own OC kernel for CM7.
There's a couple of OC kernels available for FROYO roms atm. Just check the Dev section.

CM7 or MIUI are good ROMs, now they have worked out most of the bugs for this phone besides HDMI and something with camera mirror.
I switched over from the Optimus V and I have a gtablet, im really pleased by CM7 on this phone. I haven't had any problems at all, and the battery life with the last two releases on CM7 is great.
I will try the MIUI ROM as well though, I just chose CM7 because I have had prior experience with it.
I've never had any problems with my phone on the stock-ish ROM, but then again even on my desktop Skype appears to be mirrored (although the other side is okay)... from what I've heard, this is the way desktop Skype works.

I believe the HDMI and Mirroring problem are the custom ROM bugs, but I didn't stay on stock ROM longer then one day to find out how it was.
I am used to rooting and custom ROM's now, for me it's interesting to try different things out customizing my phone.
Edit: sorry for the confusion if I implied that HDMI and Mirroring on the camera are stock ROM bugs.
I'm refusing to switch to the Gingerbread Cyanogen mod simply because it doesn't have hdmi output. Even though I can't use the HDMI output anyway. There's probably a pill to alleviate that.

I'm refusing until you can use wifi with bluetooth, and the niggling audio bugs I keep reading about go away.
I hear that the gingerbread development is winding down now, so we may just be stuck with current cm7 and miui for a while...without fixes.
If I could just figure out what is killing battery so much faster than my optimus V, I'd be happy....

Best ROM

Hello everyone, Im a noob here and with this new hobby. Im not a noob to the whole aspect tho, I did alot with DTV and DN then FTA so I have some knowoledge. I just rooted and installed S7 rom, then like a noob locked it out but figured out how to fix. So my question being a noob is what does everyone consider the best ROM for the infuse and why? And youre opionion on best apps to install once freed up? Glad to meet everyone here and thanks for all the reading I have done over last 3 days, it saved me and my phone LOL.

S7 is ok i guess but was expecting so much more, right now got my eye on Bionix, but all your inputs helps a noob like me out greatly. Thanks
im running the new bionix i like it so far
Cool can you tell us why what you think the advanages are?
I'm running Infused v2.2.3, it's a great rom that gives good battery life. Unforunately, the developer has stopped work on it (he's supposed to be coming back once AT&T GB releases). But it's a solid rom.
CM7 or Darky. Darky is likely the best i9000/Captivate/Vibrant ROM, if you really want an Infuse based ROM, the only one I've used is Infused and it's pretty good.
AT&T's lastest leak: KK2 with Entropy's kernel for root.
I've removed most of the bloatware and did my own theme with pieces from this theme and that theme.
I get 14-18 hours on a charge. WiFi, Bluetooth & Data all work and are fast.
Only problem is video being broke.
I'm enjoying the Infused 2.2.3 also. Very stable, and greta battery life.
MIUI is awesome some bugs semi broken bluetooth havent tried the darky or some of the other newer roms tried dlev was alright infused was ok. Would wait for ICS before flashing something new.
Miui is my favorite. Works better than anything I've tried.

I've tried a lot of the roms out right now, I kept going back to Infused from gtg465x because of it's stability (I like to know for sure that I'm getting my calls and messages) but currently I'm very pleased with the mosaic ROM. It's really a great balance of stability and style, with just enough customizable options to make it feel unique. Also my wife has an infuse and she is a big fan of the Doctorz ROM (they just released version 9 that apparently fixed some of the glitches that v8 had) but I am steadily turning her into a regular flasher...of roms. lol. Anyway shealso tried the black one and it was very flashy but had lots of Italian glitches, currently she's tuning the GingerReal2 and she loves it.
Bottom line is...a matter of preference. I like stability with a dash of flashy, some people prefer flashy and don't care if some stuff doesn't work...others don't care if there phone is as boring as a rotary from the 80's as long as they can count on it working properly.
Hope this helps and have fun flashing!
X,
Sent from my Mosaic Infuse.
VictoryRom v1.7 working best for me. No issues of any kind. KK2 does NOT have broken video like previously mentioned. My videos and youtube work great. I flashed it over a fresh install of gtg's unbrick.
i am also trying to find the best rom, but they all seem to have small problems that aren't necessarily dealbreakers, but slightly annoying to deal with every single day. I have been running cm7 for a while, and it's awesome, but I want my bluetooth audio back. i might be wrong on this one, but I think all the captivate/i9000 ports are going to have that "first call" bug. I was looking through all the leaks, and they seem to have widespread weirdness, which is what i would expect from a leak. I guess what I'm looking for is the latest version of android I can get without these bugs. should i go back to stock?
infused 2.2.3 with E's daily driver.
A lot of roms are not based on the infuse, those will break your bluetooth; thats a deal breaker for me. I would like to try some of the others and I have heard some really great things about them, but need the bluetooth for my car.

KK2 builds should get your bt audio working. Anyone with bt audio in their car should avoid MIUI and CM7...they will never get the bt working on the Infuse.
Bluetooth works fine for me.
