Hi all, probably a stupid question, but here goes.
I have just flashed my Sensation XE with a Senseless ICS ROM, but quite like the look of the standard HTC main page is there a way to make a senseless ROMs home page look like that without having to suffer the memory hog that is HTC Sense?
E.g. the clock, local weather etc.
You can flash shnizlon's theme on top of any Sense 3.5 or 3.6 (4.0.3 ICS) ROM and it will allow you to pick what you want to keep Sense and what you want to change to AOSP.
for the HTC-like weather clock, try fancy widget.
and if you just don't want to suffer the memory hog, and still want htc apps. you should flash a rom with htc sense(e.g. insertcoin, arhd) and use other launchers(e.g. nova launcher, adw launcher ex), then uninstall htc sense in Titanium Backup.

What is the chance of FC on apps from sense being on Cyanogenmod (Torch, Friend Stream etc to replace the Lockscreen)?

Torch is included in cm and the rest will not work period without the sense framework. In other words if u want sense apps and lock screens flash a sense rom as cm is aosp. That or learn how to port the things u want from cm to a sense rom. Adding sense to aosp is exactly what HTC does when they build sense roms so doing it yourself would be pointless.

Yeap. Simple fact is sense apps wont work without the sense framework.
Theres some decent clones though. Like launcher pro's friends widget etc.
Read somewhere you could replace the Rosie.apk file in system/apps with the apk of choice (ICS 4.0 Launcher in this case).
I tried this and it didn't yield positive results.
Essentially only doing this because I'd like a dock bar with 5 apps instead of the crappy "apps - phone - personalize" on Sense 3.0.
Also not willing to use ARHD 6.0.x as my everyday rom so would like a way to get a new launcher and dock bar but keep the sense widgets.
I know it's a big ask, but hopefully someone can help.

Sense widgets require Rosie to run. It's been this way since sense on android was released.

(If of it's a Sense 3.6 ROM, a mod of the OTA because that won't have so many bugs
5*4 Grid of Launcher (even of sense, if it's possible)
This is not the question "which is the best rom" but i like to hear your recommendation for my needs
ARHD, Sense o Maniac or Elegancia would all be ideal IMO.

I don't like the Elegancia theme...
i would also like a 5*4 Layout of the Launcher (even if its sense)

Okay fair enough.
You can get the 5x4 layout with a custom Launcher like ADW or Nova Launcher. Not sure if there's a Sense mod that enables it.

Of course that is a possibility but i would like to use APEX if it is a AOSP (or AOSP-framework) ROM and Sense if it is a Sense ROM... Isn't there any mod for a 5*4 sense launcher?
So I've loaded up Virtuous Inquisition and noticed it uses Nova launcher. My question is, what would have been the difference if I just used a Sense ROM and installed Nova launcher from the play store? What makes ROMs so different from just a launcher?
None.. Virtuous is a sense-less ROM anyway.
Nova have more custom features. The worst about using other launchers is that u lose ability to use Sense widgets.
What makes a rom different is not only the looks but internal system tweaks aswell.. just look at ARHD..

the rom is the whole software but the launcher is just the program that manages the homescreen and how it launches the apps. you can mix and match launchers and roms
There are quiet some differents between ROMS, first of all you have the tweaked sense roms (from which the original source code comes from HTC) and the Android Open Source Project roms, those are much lighter to run and are without any bloatware. However, you should try them out yourself.
I dont know if this is at all possible without theming but I was curious if you could get the sense 4+ on an aosp rom. Maybe not all the extra apps like the music and messaging and camera but the lockscreen and the widgets. I have tried all sorts of stuff with go launcher and beautiful widgets but they just don't do it justice. Is there a way to port this???? Has it already been done?

First of all, this should be in the Q&A section. Secondly, the closest you will get is a modded Sense ROM. I jumped ship from sense as fast as I could so I don't really follow the news, but I have heard that Viper ROM is the most AOSP-like Sense ROM.
No... Certain aspects or sense rely on the sense launcher... Like the clock...idk about the lockscreen...but mostly everything else is a no go on a diff launcher
Sense is very heavily tied into the framework. Ports are possible, like when I had a captivate there was a sense port but it was extremely unstable. It's just not worth the hassle really

In my experience all third-party launchers introduce a notable lag (compared to Rosie) when opening home screens, app drawer, etc. And this is with all possible animations and other eye candy turned off. Seems that as long as Sense is running in the background you have to go through an extra layer to get to the Launcher.
