[Q] Flashing to Supercharged V4 - Motorola Atrix 2

Hey guys, I'm trying to flash to lfaber's Supercharged V4 ROM, but I'm having some trouble. I'm rooted on 2.3.6, but I got there by rooting on 2.3.5 (with one-click) and then using 4ever root hack to keep it when upgrading to 2.3.6 via OTA
I have the Atrix 2 bootstrapper on my phone currently and RSD Lite downloaded to my computer. I also have the stock deodexed 2.3.6 ROM and the Supercharged V4 downloaded to my computer.
Below are the instructions from lfaber06's original post for Supercharged V5 (which I'm assuming also apply to V4) with my questions in blue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21311341&highlight=rom+list
----------------------------------------------------------------
-Boot into **BOOTSTRAP**(NO SAFESTRAP)
-Format System --not sure what this means or how to do it and i wasn't able to find any instructions on it
-Install Stock Deodex rom --i think that i need to drag a file from the Stock deodexed 2.3.6 ROM folder on my computer into RSD lite, but i don't know which one
-Wipe Data/Factory Reset --these next three done via Bootstrap recovery?
-Wipe Cache
-Wipe Dalvik Cache
-Reboot phone
-Once stock rom has loaded install bootstrap and reboot into recovery(we need a clean, deodxed, rooted base) --i.e. install Atrix 2 Bootstrapper just the way i did before?
-Wipe Data/Factory Reset
-Wipe Dalvik Cache
-Wipe Cache
-Install SuperCharged Rom (If you are already running stock rooted rom you can skip to the last 4 steps) --same as stock ROM question, i just don't know exactly how i'm supposed to do this
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I apologize if I'm missing something obvious here, but I've been around the forums for about a month and a half now, so I believe I've done my due diligence before asking. Any instructions or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

v4 is based off of 2.3.5, so you will loose all the benefits of 2.3.6 if you flash v4. You will also have some oddities such as random apps fc'ing. So i recommend flashing v5 instead. Be careful though. YOU CANNOT FLASH IT NORMALLY!!! To flash v5 you have to extract the zip and copy it to /sdcard/clockwork/backup/. Then apply it by choosing restore in Bootstrap and applying that. YOU CANNOT FLASH IT NORMALLY!!!
Also are you having any specific problems?

farshad525hou, thanks! I thought I should use V4 because it would be more stable, but I'll definitely try V5 now. That said, my problem is basically that I don't understand the instructions lfaber06 posted (surely my fault, not his).
He says to boot into Bootstrap, which I'm pretty sure how I know how to do, but I don't see anything there about formatting the system. How do I do that?
He says to install the Stock Deodexed ROM, which I have downloaded, but I can't really fool around with how to install until I know how to format the system. Will I drag the ZIP file itself into RSD lite and let RSD lite extract what it needs?
Thanks again!

V5 is very different from V4. It has a very different installation process. Once you download V5 unzip it. There should be a README file that should be crystal clear on what to do.
I would help you further but my slow internet is still downloading V5

For v5 pay no attention to the initial instructions!
All you have to do is as follows
1.) Download v5
2.) Extracy the rar to your desktop
3.) Copy the entire folder (should be just SuperCharged_V_5) to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/.
4.) Boot into bootstrap
5.) Highlight option: wipe data/ factory reset
6.) Click YES
7.) Go to backup and restore
8.) Select Restore
9.) Find SuperCharged_V_5
10.) Hit restore
11.) Should take around 5 min. After hit reboot!
*WARNING* YOU WILL LOOSE ALL YOUR APPS IN THIS PROCESS.
If you want to save your apps make a backup then after flashing hit* ADVANCED RESTORE* and select Data.

Thanks for the detailed instructions. I realize now that that's exactly what was included in the ReadMe file in the SuperCharged V5 folder, so sorry about that.
I'm now up and running on V5. It took me a while to get my apps back because I didn't realize I needed to install the free version of Titanium backup before the pro version. Thanks again!

Hello all. Question about scV5, is there consist a russian language? Team from Russia has made translate of 2.3.6 stock files

Hello people, I want to try SCv5 but the download link isn't working...
Any ideas on this?
Thanks

[GUIDE] How to Flash a Custom ROM

I know its something fairly simple, but for the newbies out there, here's a simple walkthrough I made for how to flash a custom ROM on your Android phone. If there are any improvements I can make, let me know How to Flash a Custom ROM on Android
Benefits of Flashing a Custom ROM
While you’ll end up seeing a lot of benefits from custom ROMs, they all probably fall under 3 main areas:
Better Performance – You’ll be able to overclock Android or even see it built in with the ROM as well as see overall performance increases from various tweaks
Better Battery Life – One of the first things people do when rooting is remove stock apps. Don’t know how? Most developers have the apps already removed in their ROMs. Additionally, various system tweaks and improved kernels, as well as undervolting Android help to drastically improve Android battery life.
Better Overall Experience – Try other versions of Android such as those found on other phones that have been ported to yours; stay up to date with updates and new features; try out different Android themes, etc.
All in all, there are a LOT of benefits you’ll get from using a custom ROM on Android, so wait no more, here’s How to Flash a Custom ROM on Android.
Basic Steps
Choose the ROM that you want and download its .zip file
Transfer the zip file to your phone's sd card. Do not put it into any folder.
Turn off your phone and reboot into recovery, usually by holding the down button and power button at the same time.
Do a Nandroid backup
Wipe the phone by clear cache/factory restore and wiping dalvik cache
Flash the zip file that you put on your sd card
Reboot phone

Ohh I gotcha Well thanks man
how do you:
Wipe the phone by clear cache/factory restore and wiping dalvik cache
how do you wipe dalvik cache?
Also...
I downloaded Azrael v2.41
am I suppose to rename the .zip file from Azrael_v2.41_by_Ricsim78 to PC36IMG.zip?
I once renamed it to PC36IMG.zip and it would not read it and ask me to flash..

If you're rooted, I recommend flashing to Amon Ra Recovery.
When you boot into Recovery, go into the Wipe section, there are options there to "wipe factory restore" and "wipe dalvik cache"
After you do that, go back to the main screen in Recovery mode and find where it says "flash from zip file" (or something along those lines), then navigate to where you have the Azrael zip file.
I was in the same boat you're in, just 2 days ago. I've been reading these forums nonstop for 2 days now
I did the wipe..but I'm not exactly sure how to "flash from zip"
can't find that...
and still wondering if I have to rename anything

You don't have to rename anything.
What recovery are you using - Amon Ra or Clockwork
- If you wiped and performed a NANDROID backup, then select the option of "FLASH ZIP FROM SD CARD". Then you should see the .zip file of the ROM you downloaded, select that, confirm, and once done reboot.
Good to go!
there's so many guides..some are outdated and such
I don't have root access. Still trying to get to that part before flashing.
Already performed a wiped. Now I'm stuck and don't know how to perform a proper root since all the pc36img are outdated.
I have hboot 0.97.0000
dumb question but... after i flash from zip when do i then restore the nandroid??

After you flash a ROM, you don't need to restore the nandroid. The Nandroid back up is an image of your system at the time you do the back up. You would only restore the Nandroid when you want to go back to the version on the backup.
What I do with a ROM is load it, then get everything working the way I want it to and then do a back up of it. Can then go back to it whenever you want to after trying out more ROM's.

Have you tried this simple, easy to use root method?
Unrevoked

Ok I got my G2x last month, have it rooted w/ OneSuperClick...(they said, to make sure you're rooted, check to see if u have the superuser icon in your phone, it's there.
So I'm rooted, nandroid backed-up and have the recoverymod flashed too.....
I have tried to flash a few nightly roms (p99_46.zip is the latest) as well as the Eagleblood 1.0.4. None of the install......they start w/:
-- Installing: /sdcard/EagleBlood1.04.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/EalgleBlood1.04.zip (bad)
Installation aborted.
(( so I'm forced to restore my stock back up.....
anyone have any suggestions...
I'm rooted, Have CWM recovery v3.0.2.7 installed...

P.S... also....I heared about "gapps"...what is it and do I need it at all? When is the official 2.3.x (gingerbread) coming from Tmobile? I just want GB on my g2x
make sure u flashed clockwork recovery via NVflasher to TRULY gain a mod recovery. I always put the roms I wanna flash onto my phone's memory and NOT the microSD card. maybe that'll help.
Looks like a corrupt download. Delete the zip and try downloading again.

Thnx for the reply. I tought I heard to have the ROMS in external memory card. Cuz, for example that's where clockworkmod backs up your nandroid.
Where do you place the ROMS(most roms have like 3 files in a compressed zip format.......i.e example.....the eagleblood ROM name is EagleBlood1.04.zip when u download it....inside the zip, theres two folders.....META-INF and "system".....a file called "boot.img" and another one called "installbusybox"...so where in the internal phone memory do u put the whole zip folder......?
put the WHOLE rom.zip on your memory. don't unzip anything.
+1 on the post above. redownload the rom and try flashing again.
after you flash the rom, flash gapps (this is the installer that includes market, gmail, etc.) You need it in order to get access to the market
Your steps should be as follows
1. Wipe Data
2. Wipe Dalvik cache
3. Flash Rom
4. Flash gapps
5. fix permissions
6. reboot
EDIT: and don't unzip anything. Place the WHOLE eaglesblood.zip file on your SD Card

They all say the same....I got them from the cyanogenmod website......even Eagleblood1.04 from here.
funny thing i noticed tho, after I tried installing a rom, but of course it fails, I connect the phone to USB, go to external memory card, try to open the ROM zip file, it wont open....says "X:\EagleBlood1.04.zip The archive is either in unknown format or damaged"
Maybe it gets damaged or currupted during the time its trying to flash the files to the phone???

[Q] Please Help :(

First off, this is my first post (Woopty doo horraaaay) and I desperately need help.
I have a Wifi-Only Motorola Xoom, it used to be on 3.2.1, and I had it rooted, with only using the Tiamat 2.2.2 Moray root.
I've been wanting to upgrade to ICS for a while, and I finally am. I've had to reset my xoom back to stock 4 or 5 times now, and I'm annoyed and want to do it right. Starting off, my Xoom is starting on ICS, unlocked, unrooted.
I've done many different orders of stuff. First, I flashed the clockwork recovery mod, and then I go into it, and installed the EOS-Wingray-60, but after I did that, when I start up the xoom, it never loads, it stays on the "Team EOS" boot animation. I tested it, and left it on all night, and woke up and it was still on team eos. Next, I tried installing the universal root, (It worked), and THEN I installed the Wingray-60. Same problem, stuck on animation. I've repeated these several times, and am not sure what to do.
Pretty much all I want is to be able to overclock it. What order should I do when installing roots and things?
I have wingray-60, Rogue Kernal 2.0.2 Kuma, Universal root, Clockwork recovery mod, Tiamat 3.0.5 (Not sure what this is, but when I use it, it automatically aborts the install), and I have all of the **** to restore it back to factory + my original 3.2.1 backup rooted is saved.
What order should I use the installs in, and which ones should I use? And is there something I'm doing wrong?
To have ICS with Overclock, all you need is:
- Unlocked Bootloader
- Rooted
- CWM Recovery installed (Rogue)
- TeamEOS Wingray Build 60
- TeamEOS Google Apps V10.5
All the other stuff you listed, you can move to another folder for archive. You don't need it.
Follow these steps.
Use Titanium Backup to backup any applications and data you want to save. If you don't care about the apps/data, you can skip this step.
Boot into Recovery. Power off, when the Moto logo shows for about 1 sec, hold the Vol down. Select Android Recovery.
From CWM, select wipe data/factory reset **Warning - you will blow away all your apps/data *** See note about backing up first.
Follow these steps to ensure a clean first install. Select "wipe cache partition"
Select "Yes - Wipe Cache"
Select "advanced"
Select "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
Select "Yes - Wipe Dalvik Cache"
Select "+++++Go Back+++++"
Select Install from Zip, Select Zip. Navigate to your Team EOS ROM, and install it
IMMEDIATELY after the ROM is installed, install the Google APPS file via Select ZIP.
If you did everything correctly, Reboot. Now Team EOS boot animation should start and ICS will be available to you along with the Market. Restore your apps. Select from Settings to OC to your desired speed and enjoy.

Now, just to be clear, I should root with the universal root?
Do you have Titanium Backup or Rom Manager? Do you also have SU access?
If you do, you most likely have Root, but you can always re-root if you are unsure.

No, I had just restored my xoom back to factory. I just rerooted, using the universal root, then I wiped all my crap like you said, then I downloaded Eos 60, then I download Gapps and when I download gapps, my xoom says "E:Can't open /sdcard/EOS_GApps_ics_4.0.3_v9.zip (bad) Installation aborted".
Now what :|
You need to flash this version of the CMW Recovery. Without it, you cannot see/mount your SDCard.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074979
After flashing, reboot into recovery again and it should see the external SDCard which now contains your EOS ROM and EOS GApps. Flash those back to back and you should be good to go.
I CAN see my external SDCard!!!
If I couldn't see it, how could I even be rooted? That's a whole 'nother problem!
Sorry, but yeah, I can't see everything just fine. It's just Gapps is refusing to install, and everytime I install Eos 60, my device won't boot.

Okay... Relax lol
Please answer these questions
1. Have u checked the md5 sums on the gapps and the eos rom? They are provided and a bad installation can mean your files are buggered sooo check the md5 are correct for each file
2. Did you install the rogue recovery or the modded cwm recovery using fastboot? (not using rom manager or whatever)
3. Have you factory wiped before installing the rom?
4. Did you wipe cache and dalvik cache?
5. Did you install the rom then the. Gapps?
6. Did you fix permissions once you finished flashing both files?
Thanks

First off, I finally got the EOS rom to work perfectly fine. My problem was that I never wiped the system's cache data or dalvik. And where do I check the Md5 sum for the Gapps? Because they still are a "(bad)" file.
Yes, I use a perfectly fine recovery, not rom manager, what permissions need fixing? Thanks.

What IS md5, what does it need to be, and where do I check it? I don't understand the jibberish in the second half of your sentence.

Md5 is a unique hash that is calculated depending on the file.. When they match you have exactly what has been uploaded by the developer. When they dont that can be a cause of your problems.. I suggest u know and understand that for future for almost any file you download where one is provided... You can brick your device and it would be your own fault if you didnt check an md5.. So jibberish, hardly..
Now... Google a free md5 program for your computer and download n install it
Go to your relevant eos thread in first post there is a link for latest gapps packages...
Download the latest 10.5v if u havnt
Look at the md5 its displayed when you download the file or on the side of the file in the list...
Put the downloaded file in the md5 program on your computer and compare to the one provided..
Now try to flash this package within recovery...
Be sure to wipe caches, dalvik... Flash gapps.. Go to advanced then fix permissions... Then reboot.. See if it works.. If not try factory reset, wipe cache n dalvik, install rom, then gapps, then fix permissions.. Then reboot

[Q] How do I install Revolver 4?

Hey,
I finally decided to root my tablet and flash a custom rom, because the random reboots and freezes are annoying me.
I rooted my Transformer with viperMOD (pretty easy)
But now I want to install Revolver 4. But I don´t know how to do it. There is no ReadMe or an Installation Guide.
Could somebody please give me a little installation guide or a link to one?
I used the search button, but nothing helpful came out
Thanks, Eike
First you need to install a custom recovery like CWM.
Use RecoveryInstaller to do that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180
Download the ROM file and Gapps if needed.
(Just check in Revolver thread to see what is needed)
Put it on the micro sd card (some recovery will see internal sd too)
Boot into recovery by:
Push and hold Vol down + Power button
When you see words at top left corner
Immediately push Vol up within 5 sec.
(or use Transformer Reboot to Recovery app in Play store)
Once in CWM go to Backup/Restore and do a nandroid backup.
Now select wipe and wipe data, cache, dalvik cache.
Select "install zip from sd card and choose your file you want to flash
When done reboot, enjoy.
Thanks Mate, you really saved my day!
In your Signature stands, that you use Megatron Rom on your Transformer.
Is Megatron better than Revolver?

Once you flashed your ROM and set it up, do a nandroid backup of it and try different ROMs. If you don't like it nandroid restore back to the ROM you already have set up. Titanium is good for backing up data.
Different between the two is one is Megatron (CM9) is AOSP
and Revolver is base on Asus firmware. Some like AOSP while some like ROM to
be base on the original firmware. Good luck and happy flashing.
I think all of the roms for our tf101 are really good in general, it all boils down to user preference. Be careful with revolver atm as the last release is having some bugs with revolver parts according to what I was reading, gnufabio is a wonderful dev though and should have everything fixed.
As far as roms to try I'd try these four (using the nandroid method as above)
Stock Based (more like tf when you get it):
Revolver
ARHD
Aosp Based (more like pure android, say a galaxy nexus):
Megatron
AOKP
Since I'm a flashaholic I tend to run around between these four, prefering aosp a bit over stock.
Also, it's important to note that if you want to fix rebooting issues and etc you also want to get a custom kernel .zip and flash that after booting the rom once,
I recommend Guevors kernel v20 or v17c (in my sig), or the TestyMehIcs kernel.
To flash kernel:
1. follow steps above to flash rom
2. Boot rom once
3. Boot back into CWM
4. Wipe Dalvik-Cache (I like to wipe several times, mabye I'm just paranoid)
5. Wipe Cache ('')
6. Install from zip the kernel.zip you downloaded.
7. Reboot and enjoy!

[Q] Unable to uncompress ROM file

Hi,
I have downloaded these files
Retail Indian - 5.5.1-EDEM-28-37-SEARET and Retail Indian - 5.5.1-EDEM-27-SEARET (Indian ROM with some cool features ) and I am dragging and dropping it in RSDLite and uncompressing it.
At the end of uncompressing it, I am getting this message "Please check input file. Either XML format is wrong or image files associated with it are missing."
After clicking OK, the path it displays is C:\IndianRetail-SEARET\system\etc\apns-conf.xml
Please advise. I want to change my rom from AT&T to Indian ROM.

Is that one of cogeary's International ROM's from here? If, so read the instructions in the original post - it is a cwm zip install. You must put it on your sdcard, boot into recovery, wipe data, and "install zip from sdcard"

If its a rom u shouldn't need to rsdlite it should be a restore or flash either cwm. Rsdlite is for fxz files. Correct me if I'm wrong

Little help needed
Thank you for your replies.
I understood few things. I use Sony Xperia S and the procedure is completely different than Motorola.
I want to install custom rom on my sister's phone.
Its an AT&T phone.
I want to install Victory Rom and the instructions he provided are below.
Installation Instructions - THIS IS A INSTALL ZIP (NOT BACKUP)
1.Put zip on sdcard
2.Back Up apps with Titanium backup
3.Make CWM backup
4.Wipe DATA(Factory Format),WIPE Cache and WIPE dalvik cache
5.flash zip
Now I am little confused here,
I will copy this file to SD Card and backup with Titanium
But my phone is not yet rooted and I dont have CWM
I understand CWM can be installed through ROM Manager and to perform Wipe Data should we do it from Settings in the phone or from CWM?
And the last step he mentioned to flash and need help how to do that with which software.
Sorry for so many questions, completely confused with Motorola.
yes its from the same place.
Is "install zip from sdcard" an app?

First of all, go HERE - and read up. You need to first root, then install the bootstrap, then you will be able to get into recovery mode (you don't need the ROM Manager app) - and then experiment with installing new roms/themes/mods.
First, I would recommend making a backup while in recovery mode. Also, possibly install CWM(Recovery) on Boot. Then you can go on to installing new roms... Information on all of this can be found by searching this forum. But, definitely ask if you're not sure of something before trying it. It's definitely a learning process.
Good luck!
Thanks a lot.
I rooted the phone and installed bootstrap and now i can see all the key words I have mentioned in my previous post.
hope I will be able to install custom rom without any problem.
