[Q] CHINESE 8ins TABLET - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi All ,Has anyone in this great community managed to root a Android 2.3 Capacitive multitouch S5PV210A8 with the Samsung processor . bought of Amazon UK Has an old newbie it works fine ,but unable to root with the normal tools ,any help appreciated

Hello,
In all honesty, these things are not hard to root however as they are VERY Generic, you wont find many doing it or custom roms.
Rooting basically consists of taking a system dump of the tablet and injecting the "su" binaries into it. Of course the steps to accomplish this vary from product to product.
First, start by seeing if you can get adb working and communicating with the tablet.
If yes, then see what bootloader you are running (type "adb reboot bootloader". If you are running fastboot, you should be able to build a custom recovery from the ClockworkMod Source Tree if you know how.

Hi Kieth i am a complete newbie , and sorry but you lost me straight away , i thought there may a one click app to do it ,so i think i will leave it alone for the time being Appreciate you taking the time to reply

root
managed to root it using the one click method ,quite painless really. TWO things have happened since i rooted ,keep getting process com.android vending force close ,and . no keyboard shows ,even when i try installing new apk.now looking for a custom rom for this model. its not bad with a cheapo you can at least learn , and thats what life is all about

I think if you choose the right Rom for your Android 2.3 Samsung processor will be fine.

Hi Rudy , Can you point me in the right direction to find it,Thanks

[Q] Root Samsung Galaxy S Duos (GT-S7562L)

After noticing that the root on this page is not for my phone I'd like to ask for help. My international phone runs 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich and I really want to root it, but its getting hard to find any trustworthy rooting instructions for my phone, as it isn't very popular. I found a page that uses something called "Bin4ry" to root it and it showed me the source of it, and it was a development thread in here. As i read the supported devices I did not find mine! I was about to root it but not finding my phone on that list did not really convince me. So, if anybody has the device GT-S7562L and has rooted it, or knows how to root it, or maybe knows if Bin4ry actually supports it? Thank you for your help I'm having trouble rooting this phone, and I'm vey skeptical about the issue! Also, if i do root it, what data is wiped? Is my cutom launcher (Nova Launcher) still gonna be there?

rooting do not wipe anything....
understand this:-
Q. What the hell is Rooting ???
A. If you are familiar with the Windows operating system and its basic terms, then you must be aware what the 'Run as Administrator' option does. Its almost the same thing that rooting allows you to do in your Android. In layman language,it allows you to play around with the system files making you the true controller and administrator of the device you have shelled out so much money for.For example, changing the splash screen (the welcome screen that shows up whenever you switch on your phone, usually having the manufacturer's logo),or deleting some crap apps your mobile came loaded with, every such extraterrestrial thing requires you to have the adequate permissions to edit or replace system files.
and did search on how to root your device
i found some guides but they are for GT-S7562 and your device is GT-S7562L..
im not sure if it would work for your device or not....

apparently the main difference between gt s7562L and gt s7562 is 3g radio band use.
So should be same software and hardware apart from that

I used root genius on Windows and it worked very easily... Hoping for custom recovery but I'm only intermediate with these things so I'm not sure where to go from here.
I bought one of these from best buy and would be very interested in all info available on rooting, custom recovery, and compatible roms for this device. I registered just for this thread. lol.

I rooted with the root genius for windows. Super easy took about 20 mins. Make sure you use the download from shuame.com though. Follow the directions
review?
Since you guys are using tablet.. What's your thoughts of it so far?
I'm sure someone on her knows of a rom to use.
That site is in what appears to be chinese, even translated its...hard to tell what is going on. No worries the thing doesnt even get here till the 11th of Dec.
Ummm what?
the site he listed, its in chinese

So did anyone get a custom rom working yet?
So far I like the quality of the tablet. I also brought three tablets one being the Digiland for myself and it is a very nice tablet. I just rooted mines as well through Root Genius. It's already on 4.4 so going from kitkat to lollipop isn't a huge deal to me. I'm using Buzz Menu as my home launcher and I Really like it! One of the biggest things I look to find in a rom for this device is multi-window.
Windows XP drivers help
I'm really liking this tablet as well.
I've been trying to root it with Root Genius as well, but unfortunately I've come across a road block.
I'm using a windows xp computer and I can't seem to find any driver for the tablet when you insert it in dev mode into the PC.
It asks for "MT65xx android" drivers and despite hours of searching on the net yesterday, all the drivers I have found online get rejected during the install driver process. I point the driver install to the right folder with the unzipped XP drivers, then it just fails and states it hasn't found matching drivers in there... I tried and found like 10+ websites with no luck.
Has anyone rooted it through a Windows XP computer? If someone could help me find the right matching drivers, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks, I'm happy to hear people like this tablet, since I'm giving them as gifts.
"MT65xx Android Phone" driver
It turns out that most of the drivers I was trying must have been "MT65xx Preloader" drivers (the driver that is required when connecting the tablet when it is turned off).
Could anyone who has successfully rooted theirs point me towards a valid "MT65xx Android Phone" driver for Windows XP? That seems to be the name of the driver required when the device is turned on and with usb debugging turned on (the state required for Root Genius to work). Google hasn't returned a valid one for me yet since most sites tend to get the "preloader" and "android phone" drivers mixed up or poorly labeled, it seems that all the ones I found fall in the earlier category.
Rooted
ok so I have the thing rooted with root genius. Still looking for a rom, I have also noticed that this device seems to have a 2Gb partition and then the rest of the 16Gb in another partition. Is there a way to repartition this? Im a PC tech but very new to android. This site has been very informative so far.
I have rooted and downloaded the Original ROM for the DigiLand 10.1 running 4.4.2. I am currently attempting to load Lollipop on the system.
Can you please post the link to the original ROM, I have thus far been unable to find it.
Thanks
My first one did the wireless update after Rooting with root genius and bricked. Probably just bad download. Got replacement and updated and rooted, but having to use kinguser because of the issues supersu has with access to root from SD. Flawed for some mtk devices I have found. Lucky patcher and titanium backup won't work properly with supersu. Does anyone know if superuser has the same problem?

Help For Complete Novice To Rooting Android/Custom ROM

First off, I am a complete novice when it comes to rooting so please be gentle with me.
I have one of these Walmart HKC 7" tablets that I would like to use to experiment with in regards to rooting it and putting a newer OS on.
I did some checking around and tried rooting it with Kinkgo Root. It seems like it might have worked, but I have no clue. All the factory installed apps are still there and I would like to get rid of them cause I don't use them and want to free up the space.
How do I know that this tablet has been successfully rooted after running Kingo Root?
Secondly, once I get it rooted, i would like to update/upgrade the OS. Currently it is running Android 4.1.1 and I would like to get a new version for it, but I have no clue as to how any of updating/upgrading to a "Custom ROM" works.
Could someone be so kind as to guide me in the right direction so I can find step by step instructions as to how to update/upgrade to a custom ROM?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice/help/guidance/suggestions anyone has to offer . . .
To check if your device is rooted download root checker from play store then open it, and click check. For the custom rom you need a custom recovery that allows you to install zip from SD card/ internal space or make a backup of your system. So search on internet cwm Walmart HKC 7" and then search Walmart HKC 7" rom

It doesn't seem that there is any custom ROM for your tablet.
To see if you are rooted download and run this app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&hl=ro
If you are not rooted you can try towelroot (will most likely work). Download this app and make it ra1n: https://towelroot.com/ (to download press the Lambda).
Thanks for the replies.
I have downloaded the root check app as suggested. After installing it and running it, the app indicates that this particular tablet has been in fact rooted.
I have also done a search as joe2k01 suggested and only found one thread regarding this tablet (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297246). After reading through the thread, I have no clue as to what this thread is about or whether this is what I am looking for or not.
Since it does not appear that there are any custom ROM's available for this particular tablet, is it possible to find and utilize a "universal" type of Custom ROM?
If this is possible, is there anyone who can suggest such a universal custom ROM that will or might work on this tablet?
Again, thanks in advance for any and all advice, suggestions or input.
A universal custom ROM doesn' t exist but you can find a custom ROM for a similar phone to your.

Thank you joe.
Since this is one of those Walmart HKC 7" tablets, can you suggest where or how I might find something similar in order to find a custom ROM for this thing?
Would it be appropriate to ask this in the Android Operating Systems forum?
To find a device similar to your you need to know the model number of your tablet, after that you have to search on internet "Model Number" ROM (w/o "). You can also search " Model Number" needrom (w/o "). Needrom is a website where you can find a lot of custom rom.

Blu dash 5.0

All right guys here it is, I am trying like hell to root my blu dash 5.0. I found one post that had me flash a rooted image. bricked it once, brought it back by flashing full stock image. did it properly the second, third, and fourth time. I got stuck in a bootloop on the blu logo. link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...-stock-rom-images-t2967900/page3#post65333894
I have tried all manner of one click root tools. Tried Framaroot. Nada. Is there anyone out there who has found the way? I am willing to try anything. I am even willing to attempt to find a way to root it myself, but I have never done anything like this on android so i'd need some basic worries/questions answered before I start messing around.
Also, are there any custom Roms for my phone? I've never used custom roms before, but this past summer I did install one on a family members hp tablet because it wasn't android. it was HPs crappy intent for an OS that had been discontinued and they asked if I could get the wifi to work. I ended up just installing a custom Rom because the OS wasn't great any way and I knew they'd prefer android due to familiarity. I decided I'd like to try custom roms on this phone, but i cant figure out if there are any.
Thanks for any help! And if this is in the wrong place, just says so and i'll move it.
forgot to add I can flash it to 4.2 with the stock image i have, but id like a rooted 4.4 or better, if possible.
I tried Kingroot from the pc, and lo and behold, it worked! So now I am trying to get app2sd to work ( my main reason for wanting root). Also if anybody has any custom roms they know of that are compatible, I'd appreciate it. I've looked, but most don't say if they'd work.

[Completed] Question About Rooting As A Beginner And With A Mac

Hello,
I hope you are doing well!
I am looking to be pointed in the right direction as someone who is brand new to rooting and has done some research but is still confused by the process.
I am looking to improve the performance of my Samsung Galaxy S 5. I researched a little about rooting and came across Cyanogenmod. Essentially, I'm looking to install it on my phone, however getting from point A, having a basic phone, to point B, having a rooted phone with Cyanogenmod, has been a little trickier than I thought. I am stuck honestly. I apologize for not knowing essentially anything. I stayed up all night trying to figure this out and it seems every website has a different set of instructions and they have their own complexities, for example, many of them are for Windows, and I could not find any for Mac users. Is there one reliable set of instructions you know that are best suited for someone who has never rooted before?
From my understanding, I first need to root my phone, flash it, and install Cyanogenmod. This all seems much easier than it looks. To me at least. I came across a rooting tool, which I believe is developed by XDA, called CF-Auto-Root. The only problem is it requires you to install another program called Odin which is only for Windows users.
Basically, is there a guide out there that explains step by step how to root, flash, and install ROMs AND that is Mac friendly?
Another question I have is about the pre-loaded google apps that come with the phone. As I understand, once I run or boot from Cyanogenmod, I won't have any of the google apps, meaning I will not have the Play Store installed. There is a GApps pack that comes with many of the google apps which can also be installed using the recovery menu. Is this difficult?
Thank you for your patience and your help in advance! I really tried to avoid going to forums because I know people get tired and frustrated when new people post questions without researching. I feel I have all the research done, I know what I need to do, I just do not know how. Most guides are dependent on the user having preexisting knowledge about rooting, which I do not have.
Here are my phone specs:
Samsung Galaxy S5 T-Mobile
Model Number: SM-G900T3
Android Version: 6.0.1
Build Number: MMB29.G900T3UVS3GPI1
I want to do the heavy lifting, just please show me the way!
Thanks again!

Greetings and welcome to xda. First of all most custom roms are pre rooted so you just need to install a custom recovery like twrp then use this to flash your custom rom. All CM based roms will also provide a link to a google apps package which you install in the same way as the custom rom (flashing through recovery). Installing a custom recovery is slightly more complicated with a mac than windows pc as you will need to use heilmdall but once you have your custom recovery installed everything else can be done through the phone.
Anyway if you ask your questions here
