[Q] Root for LG APEX

Is anyone working on or know when a successful root will be available for the LG APEX which is the ALLYs US Cellular sister phone. I have tried the ALLY root on the APEX and to no avail, it didnt work. Any input would be great. THANKS!!!!

How? IM rookie at rooting

I am trying to root my lg apex so I can uninstall a few stock apps that I do not want on my phone. I have tried the Z4root and I cannot get it to work. Can anyone please help me root my phone? I have the 740ZV3 version if that helps.

zroot just seems to load and load how long does it take?

Hi all, new here but not new to forums in general. I hate to dig up an old topic for a useless device but it's all I have to play with at the moment and I want to experiment with it. Can't find a lot of information on this particular device. I have found plenty of info on rooting and android development in general however nothing seems to work on this phone. Is there anyone who has some clear information on how I can get this thing truly rooted. z4root does nothing except bog it down until I reboot it. The superoneclick seemed to "root" it and installed superuser but still can't do much. Droid explorer keeps crashing with a system out of memory error. I got it to work once where it seemed to be able to explore the files but I didn't get a chance to try anything. I tried android commander and it says my phone isn't rooted. I am super interested in this stuff, but am getting very frustrated with this device. Any intelligent and resourseful information to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I'm in the same situation as you, friend. Only use mine for wifi and don't have any type of contract/ pay as you go anything, cuz a friend didn't need it anymore, so he gave it to me. First android phone I've been able to tinker with myself. What I did to root my US740 was download and install "gingerbreak." It did the trick for me.
I went to the 4shared website and typed in "gingerbreak.apk" (without quotes) and download it to your phone.
In all your research, did you ever happen to cross information about how to "unbrick" the US740? I seemed to have "bricked" it as in it loops b/t the LG logo, US Cellular and the ANDROID animation...sometimes it hangs at the ANDROID animation, sometimes it reboots itself. The only way I can power it up is when I have it plugged into a power source. Any ideas?

I am in big dilemma; either to root my tab or not.
There is no bloatware to remove and I dont want to play with it with custom roms like I do in my phone.
But I want to install different launcher which need su power to fix widgets.
So should I root it or not I am soooo much confused.

Sorry I can't answer that for you. I was about to ask the same question but in a slightly different form. This is my first tab ( a tab isn't worth getting if it doesn't have an active digitizer ), and I would like to know whether or not to root. The way I see it is that it breaks down into two lists: pros and cons, which I think is also the way you want to look at it. So aside from a custom rom, what are the pros and cons of rooting your Note?

All I want is different launcher with su power. . Touch wiz is silly. Dont let me resize all widgets and eat my all space.
With out root I cant place widgets on home screen in different launcher.

I'm in the same dire dilemma...
Root Pros:
Many very useful apps require root to access the inner system settings
It allows to see what's behind the curtains of one's Android device (browse and see system files and settings) and (slowly) learn how does it work
Root Cons:
The device can loose its immaculate "official" status, loose the warranty and the OTA updates.
Some app (mainly apps dealing with media contents and concerned with possible copyright infringements) may stop working if they detect a rooted device, by means of the binary counter, that could anyhow be zeroed with "Triangle Away", or by the mere presence of the SuperUser (SuperSU) app.
The ideal way would be to root but, at the same time, being able to completely hide the rooted status of the device; both for Samsung warranty and Ota updates and for those apps that stop working if they "sniff" a rooted device... but I think that's not possible yet...

I find rooting a device also plugs a lot of security exploits too...
If you're able to, taking back to stock is fairly easy but that can be a BIG if sometimes....
Overall I find having root is a big "+". It allows me touse my device how I want and plugs those holes left by Google/Samsung in their OS.
Each person should evaluate if they need to or not but I find it a lot better to root simply for peace of mind... at least if I get a virus that destroys my tab , I'm the one who gave it root access... The blame is mine other than the tab dies mysteriously one day..

Rooting was super simple with the exynos exploit apk, if you didn't update. I rooted using that apk, then used the same developer's MobileOdin app to update while keeping root. For me, I'd say that rooting is very useful on this tablet because you can also enable multiwindow for every single app, something you won't have without rooting..

I thought you got that with JB?

JB only have a few apps added to have multiwindows then ICS...but if you root you can use multiwindow manager to add multiwindows ability to all apps.

Also adds the ability to freeze unwanted apps, backup OS in case of bad things happening (settings, OS and user data) and to truly set things up as you, the owner and user, want...
Allows 3rd party tracking apps like cerberus to track and remotely wipe sensitive data in case tablet goes missing not to mention turn on GPS to track and get pics of person using it.

In my view worth it for Titanium Backup Pro and Nandroid backup .
Warranty void easy enough to put that right .
OTA updates don't work not a problem this is after all XDA .

I don't see the confusion on your part. It's a simple decision imo. You want an ability to do something that can only be done with root. Just because you root, doesn't mean you have to customize in any other way.
As far as OTA's go that should be a non–issue as well since they are mostly a joke as far as improvement in any significant way. Everything they have is readily available here on XDA and more often than not sooner.

Forgive me if I haven't totally understood what you want.....but you can install any launcher you want without rooting. I have Go Launcher, it allows me to resize Widgets etc.

Yeah. Do u really need root just to change launcher?
Unless u need it for other reason, I don't think root is needed just for changing the launcher.
But if u want root access, then yes, ur device need to be rooted.

A new possible solution for some Samsung devices is here.
I haven't tried it yet, but, according to the thread posts it seems that:
it can preserve the official status and the binary counter
there's an "unroot" option, so that, if some apps sniffs the rooted status and stops working, you can temporarily unroot and have it work again
If anyone has actually tried it on the GNote 10.1, his comments will be appreciated.

You all know that there is a new backup program that does not need root to backup apps and app data.
Its called "Carbon - App Sync and Backup" by ClockworkMod

I've tried them both and I'm really satisfied with the results.
1) before trying the Framaroot app I used Carbon backup to make a full backup of all my apps data (without root).
2) after that, being confident enough I could restore back my tablet apps data (in case something went wrong), I used the Framaroot app to get root.
Result:
1) I could backup my app's data before rooting
2) With Framaroot I have now root access. Anyway, the most important thing is that my device status has remained "Official" (1) and the binary counter is "unchanged" as well!
I wouldn't ever think that it was possible to root a device without having to change the recovery and, by doing so, change the device status/binary counter.
Now I know it's possible

Update: the device status is now "Custom". Yet, after the rooting, I checked and rebooted more than one time. There must be some Android service that checks the presence of root periodically and finds out, sooner or later, if the device is rooted

Thank you for the info on framaroot. I read the thread you had linked earlier and decided to try it out on my old Archos 101 gen 8 (since the developer indicated he was able to root this device with framaroot) before attempting to install it on my note. Needless to say, it didn't work on the Archos (tried it twice) and I ended up having to reformat both times because the tablet got stuck in a boot loop. Was installation really that smooth on your note and can you confirm that you're running JB 4.1.2 not 4.1.1 (saw your post in the framaroot thread).

As I said in the other thread I'm not 100% sure about JB 4.1.1 or 4.1.2.
All I'm sure of is that the firmware code is N8000XXCLL3-N8000ITVCLL1
According to Sammobile it is 4.1.1 but according to Samsung-updates it is 4.1.2. In the tablet, in the "Settings - About device" page the Android version reported is 4.1.2.
Since I'm now rooted maybe I could find out the real Android version (beneath Samsung's touchwiz) by having a quick look at some of the system file... if anyone could tell me where to look .
Anyway I can confirm that my rooting process was really smooth, that it took less than a minute and that my Note's Status has stayed "Official". (1)
Probably I was just lucky or the firmware I had on the GNote 10.1 is one of those with which Framaroot works ok.

Thank you. I may wait to see if other note users with JB 4.1.2 report success with Framaroot before I try it on my note since I had issues with a device that the developer had been able to root with his program. Even though I've backed up with Carbon, I don't care to deal with my note stuck in a virtual boot loop. I appreciate you pointing out Framaroot I hadn't seen the thread on it.

1.download it on your pc
2.allow debug usb an duknown source on your phone setting(developper setting)

yes the update yes but you must use cydia 1 time after you will get root access you must install superuser or supersu from playstore and you should do these updates from play store
if you are thinking about firmware update the answer is always yes! )
you cant do updates if you change bootloader,if you want to change rom you MUST change bootloader

android is based off linux. and pretty much has everything a linux computer has except Super user/admin like we have on windows. pretty much rooting is running a exploit to get Super user so we can run applications/ flash OS and other goodies. locked and unlocked have to do with the bootloader. im not the best guy with knowing what a boot loader is but pretty much it boots your OS. if its locked you are unable to flash unsigned Roms so no custom roms pretty much. im not sure why Samsung cant update their phones ota sometimes so they use kies. maybe the file is big enough that it cant be carried ota.

flashing=install some software (brutal force Haha) with flashing you install(copy)data on your phone maybe a firmware,
flashing is used with pc while you flash a firmware or the clockworkmod...
flashing is also used while we speaking about recovery when you install a zip...
routing is the procedure to add superuser function to your android
you can get root flashing a firmware that has included the root
or get it using some exploit
exploit=android bug
there are a lot of bug in android versionS
for example today there arent exploit avariable on android 4.4 and 4.3 but there are 1 or more in android 4.2 4.1
and there are a lot of bug in android 2.3 this os the same of iOS on iPhone, in apple world we talk about JAILBREACK...
if you would like to try to root using exploit you can try FRAMAROOT an app or CYDIAIMPACTOR a software on pc
if you would like to flash a firmware with root you should use ODIN

after root reboot and install from playstore SUPERSU :')

Ax Repost

hit a problem, I downloaded Cydia to my macbook pro, installed it, selected debugging mode and accept downloads from unknown sources, opened Cydia and the drop down option has 'drop SuperSU su to /system/xbin/su' clicked on start and immediately kies wants to open, and then Cydia says 'Error signature bugs unavailable'. What does that mean and why has it happened.

Sorry, I have told you continuously, its the first time I've done it........thats a bit unfair.....and I had to be told to add that. I take it by that comment it doesnt work on 4.1.2.........can it be rooted at all?

I dont see anywhere that the Galaxy s3 mini cant be rooted, and I see others using 4.1.2 being rooted. So can somebody explain? And looking on the Impactor website it doesnt say anything about that either......

sorry i was a little late, i have never heard of that cydia app that guy was talking about and i looked it up and it has nothing to do with rooting.
so i looked it up like i promised and i found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459910 should work on 4.1.2 the guy said its in Chinese and if you look down there's pictures to find your way through it. yeah once its rooted it should have superuser or SuperSU (same thing made by different people) if it is not on there you might have to download it from the playstore just look one of them up (chainfires SuperSU is recommended) and install it and get a root checker from the playstore as well. Update me if anything happens.

Hi, thanks for the post.....I wonder, I read through all that thread, and it even posted to an English version from the company itself. Problem is, on the English version thread, they actually closed it because of some security risks. I will see about using it, and follow the instructions. Can it be unrooted.....

So the Samsung Galaxy Prevail LTE (aka Samsung Galaxy Core Prime) has been on the market for almost 3 months now, and I've yet to find any applications or methods to root this device.
Maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places?
So far I've tried the following:
-iRooot (formerly vRoot)
-Kingo
-TowelRoot
-OneClickRoot
-SRSroot
Also I've tried to root via the ADB push method to load busybox and su. However, hooking the Android up to a machine running Ubuntu and launching Nautilus, I'm unable to see or browse the directories on the device.
So does anyone have any recommendations or know of any apps or methods that might work?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately these phones don't seem to be very common or sold in certain territories making it difficult for developers to root them. Keep looking for a root as you never know when one will come out but as far as I'm aware the phone has not been successfully rooted yet.

kingroot_4.0.0 so far is what ive found. not like having su but i can install viper and xposed and both work so its a improvement.

There is a root available over on Androidforums.com under the heading "prevail LTE root". It uses another recovery and rooting for another model samsung but it does work ok. I tried it on my prevail LTE and is currently running rooted right now. When you first do it I recommend you do it after a fresh wipe and then wipe again immediately thereafter because it will give you a system UID error if not. So use Titanium Backup to restore apps and settings after you wipe ( judiciously). I've talked to shabbypenguin to see if he would develop a recovery for it. He's busy so I guess I mean I'm waiting right now for him to get to it.<br />

CF-Auto-Root-fortuna3gdtv-fortuna3gdtvvj-smg530bt with odin 3.07 will root phone. extract recovery img with 7zip from firmware and change format to tar and you can reflash stock recovery.
Now how do we get a custom recovery cause im having a brain fart. But this is only my second phone to root and last one was pretty much 2 yrs old and i just followed a forum.

I used the latest version of Kingroot and it was a simple one-click root. The version i used was in Chinese, i think, but i went to their website through chrome on my laptop and just let google translate the page and then followed the instructions from there...Now im real new to all this so im sure there may be easier ways...My phone is rooted, I have my MSL, so i have to ask... Now what?

I hope they come out with a custom recovery and custom rom SOON . There's so many things I'd like to see happen with this phone . If a dev sees this i hope he/she can make something happen Plleeaassee !!!!

I used the method show at androidforums. com/threads/prevail-lte-root.906261/ to root 2 devices mine and my wife's both work fine with SU enabled too. Now I just need some custom roms to make it work like it should have from factory lol

My bad for n00b question but where do i find the correct custom ROM & hotspot & cf?
Any idiot proof tutorial or youtube on this for step by step how to?
The ones ive read of using custom ROM enough have reported bricking their phones some of which have been recovered & others not.
Then ive read some missing features like tethering/hot spot.
Mainly i want to easy move all 3 parts of data of an apps to my 128gb SD cause the available on-board 5gb ill use up in less than a month.

KingRoot has a root exploit for the newest Galaxy Prevail LTE. I'm rooted and running the Xposed Framework.

Help For Complete Novice To Rooting Android/Custom ROM

First off, I am a complete novice when it comes to rooting so please be gentle with me.
I have one of these Walmart HKC 7" tablets that I would like to use to experiment with in regards to rooting it and putting a newer OS on.
I did some checking around and tried rooting it with Kinkgo Root. It seems like it might have worked, but I have no clue. All the factory installed apps are still there and I would like to get rid of them cause I don't use them and want to free up the space.
How do I know that this tablet has been successfully rooted after running Kingo Root?
Secondly, once I get it rooted, i would like to update/upgrade the OS. Currently it is running Android 4.1.1 and I would like to get a new version for it, but I have no clue as to how any of updating/upgrading to a "Custom ROM" works.
Could someone be so kind as to guide me in the right direction so I can find step by step instructions as to how to update/upgrade to a custom ROM?

To check if your device is rooted download root checker from play store then open it, and click check. For the custom rom you need a custom recovery that allows you to install zip from SD card/ internal space or make a backup of your system. So search on internet cwm Walmart HKC 7" and then search Walmart HKC 7" rom

It doesn't seem that there is any custom ROM for your tablet.
To see if you are rooted download and run this app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&hl=ro
If you are not rooted you can try towelroot (will most likely work). Download this app and make it ra1n: https://towelroot.com/ (to download press the Lambda).

I have downloaded the root check app as suggested. After installing it and running it, the app indicates that this particular tablet has been in fact rooted.
I have also done a search as joe2k01 suggested and only found one thread regarding this tablet (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297246). After reading through the thread, I have no clue as to what this thread is about or whether this is what I am looking for or not.
Since it does not appear that there are any custom ROM's available for this particular tablet, is it possible to find and utilize a "universal" type of Custom ROM?
If this is possible, is there anyone who can suggest such a universal custom ROM that will or might work on this tablet?

To find a device similar to your you need to know the model number of your tablet, after that you have to search on internet "Model Number" ROM (w/o "). You can also search " Model Number" needrom (w/o "). Needrom is a website where you can find a lot of custom rom.
