Am radio - HTC Inspire 4G

Is it possible to get am radio on my inspire. I know there is an fm app, but I couldn't find an am one. Do I have to get a transmitter?

It depends on what stations you're looking for. I know there are a bunch of apps that have some AM stations, but they're only the stations that stream their broadcasts.

There is an app that has a lot of local stations called "TuneIn radio". It gets you the station through the internet.

nope dont think so
NO
There is absolutely no radio hardware in SGS4G.
Either use TuneIn (or equal) on WiFi or get another phone...
SGS i9000 does have radio inside.

My Sensation has an FM radio. I need to use the headset as an antennae, but it does have it. (TMOUS version)

Well I'm actually looking for an app to stream music from my sensation to home theater using FM rds. I used to do that on my Nokia n900. Just open radio settings, set FM frequency to any thing like 99.0 and in music player there was an option that enabled FM transmission and vola ! play songs on any device that has FM.

I hope I'm able to expree my point.
I really miss this feature

That's not the same thing you asked in your initial post. The HTC Sensation DOES have FM RDS which means it can receive data from the radio stations such as the name of the station or program ("BBC R3 - Mozart Piano Concerto No. 12" for instance).
BUT it does not have an FM transmitter like the N900 or N97. So you cannot do what you want using FM frequency. (You could using Bluetooth).
I hope this answers your question.

Hmm yeah! Got it. Will try streaming via dlna. Unfortunately my home sterio does not have dlna, but my TV has, so I will have to set my TVs audio out to sterio and then stream it. Man! Its a long process. Wait, HTC has some dlna adaptor addon for older TVs and sterois.
Thanx for answers.

Pandora Solution?

What are you guys using to listen to music? At one time, I had downloaded an unlimited version of Pandora. Now, the ads are killing me with the market version. What other services or solutions do you guys have to listening to music?

Tune In Radio and Slacker.

I'm using Slacker radio seems so much better even though on some roms volume+ wont work with it
G2x
I loved slacker however it insists on running all the time and causes a pretty massive ammount of partial wakelocks. Cached content is an amazing feature though especially when you work out in the bush or out of service area.
Pin it to Win it.
So what do you think about Rdio
G2x
I was using slacker, but it was getting repetative like Pandora, not to mention expensive, soon many different tier's and in my opinion, too much forethought to personalize the stations..
I enjoy DJ mixes and a variety of mainstream music, right now I use
Fit Radio (great DJ mixes hip hop, electronic, and rock.. has volume level fluctuation and I haven't looked into it, randomly force closes)..
And TuneIn radio.. its like a free version of Sirius radio
My advice would be to pay the Buck for the pro version, says benefit is abuliry to record but I've noticed 2 or 3 times the amount of podcast and world stations. Also quality and connection seemed to improve as well.
All depends on the type of music, and how often you listen, and if you use headphones, Bluetooth or wired to audio Jack..
Soundza
being as I have a sub to XM Radio, I use their app for my music pleasures
Rockin the Unlimited Pandora v5.x.x.x
Unlimited padora 1.3 here w/ cm7 volume controls for music. Never noticed any adds?
Edit: I can upload it somewhere for you if you want it.
Edit,srry

I'm wondering if there is a kernel/rom that allow to listen fm radio off line.
thanks
Nexus s doesn't support FM radio
IT doesn't have the hardware. Use an app over wifi or.... Hmmm... Use a radio. What are the like 3 dollars for a battery powered portable radio. Honestly. I :banghead:

Buy one of those headsets that has a built in radio receiver, because NS doesn't have a radio for, well, um, radio. according to the laws of conservation, we can't just materialise a radio out of nothing/nowhere, no unless you're magic, NS won't have a FM radio.

I have tried a couple different versions that I had, but none of them worked, even the one I was using on the Bionic. The app would hang on start up and remain actively trying to load. I had to uninstall it because it was having a significant negative impact on my battery.
I wonder if there is even an fm receiver built into the phone?
Why bother with FM..besides data issues... most stations stream online now

Why bother with laggy data streams?
Snapdragon blueprints that I have seen have an FM receiver. I believe it's unknown if the HD actually has it. I for one would love to have this, in the event of an emergency, with no data, radio could be one of the only methods of communication.
Also, like you said, it would save a heckuvalotta data!
Why bother?
Cuz every local station doesnt stream online or stream reliable enough.
Cuz I dont have to use my internet connection for FM Radio.
I have tried many streaming radio apps...and the one that has most of my local stations...Tune In....doesnt have them all and some of the ones I want are either not there or not reliable.
Yea streaming is nice....but I rarely use it for music. I have Spotify and most of the time I use the off line feature. And I just like the morning and evening shows. The commercials announcing concerts, events, etc.
, Sunday Night Football is blacked out. That's what I was afraid of. If I had FM radio I could listen.
