Hi guys, where can i get the old firmware? I flashed the new firmware to install the new ICS 4.0.3 Sense rom. I didn't like it, so i restored my old ROM. And now i keep getting random reboots which i never get before.
I'm on stock XE rom after flashing new firmware and no problems.
HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio
I'm on Miui.us latest version.
Try downloading the orgional rom for your phone and flashing it using the ruu exe file. This will restore the phone back to the orgional bootloader and radio and rom!
Can i just flash the PG58IMG.zip from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300

When we flash the RUU...does it remove Root? I installed a custom ICS ROM to try but didn't like it, so I did a NAND restore, but I think the firmware was still updated to the one that was needed to do the ICS, and I find the battery is draining quickly. So I would like to revert back to where it was.
I had though a NAND restore will restore everything including the HBOOT version and the radio...but guess not? So should I just do a RUU thing then?
Thanks

I think the pd58img ur referring to is for CWM not the firmware or radio which is what ur looking for. If you want complete retail stock then find the gingerbread 2.3.4 RUU. If ur looking for 2.3.4/5 customer roms the just flash the rom u want. GB works fine with its firmware. Backwards compatible.
The situation have been getting worse and worse everyday. Now, I couldn't even use my phone for 2 minutes without it rebooting itself. I have tried different ROMs with the same result. And i have already flashed the latest T-mobile firmware which i got from this thread.
And I'm sure its the firmware that's causing the problem. Because the first time booting into android after flashing the ICS firmware, the phone froze during the boot screen.

I have no SuperCID as i didnt know that i had to. Is there ANY possible way to get my phone working again, maybe a firmware package like PG58IMG that will revert my phone to a previous firmware so it will work...please i know im stupid i just want my phone working again
just take your sd card out and put it in one of those little flash drives that you can put in a laptop and delete the firmware zip file. then youll be able to get to hboot and revovery

Here's a trick: You can try flashing this, If it still dosen't work, revert to the 1.17 RUU given by Step 5 of this guide
I tried both 3.12 and 3.24 firmware from this thread and get boot loops: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
3.12 gets past HTC splash screen and shows Beats Audio before rebooting. 3.24 reboots at the HTC splash screen. Which firmware should I try for Sensation 4G on US T-Mobile? I have SuperCID so maybe the firmware version shouldn't matter as much, just not sure what to do at this point.

After you install the firmware. Take your battery out, take your memory card out. Put your battery back in and power your phone into recovery. Once your in recovery put your memory card back in. Plug your phone into your computer and delete the firmware that's on your root of your memory card. And now you can flash a rom in recovery

Sorry, forgot to mention that each time I flashed firmware I powered off, removed the sdcard and deleted the firmware .zip by plugging the sdcard into my PC. Then inserted sdcard and powered up to recovery to do a superwipe then flash a ROM.
Do you have to go into recovery one time w/o the sdcard loaded, or is the process I described sufficient?

Oops, just saw the other post saying it was OK to delete .zip file via PC. Guess I should maybe try different ROM or restore my nandroid backup and see what happens?
no if you flashed 3.24 firmware you need to flash 4.4.0 Insertcoin or 6.1.0 ARHD
those are only roms support new firmware, and i think RCmix now supports it too

I re-flashed the 3.12 since it at least was going further in the boot process. Then just now I did a superwipe and restored my nandroid backup of ARHD 3.6.7, which now reboots at HTC splash screen.

No apparent issues when I took firmware back to 3.12, all the items listed OK as they installed. MD5 checked out fine on all my ROMs I've tried, including ARHD 3.6.13 which I just now tried. Still rebooting at Beats screen. Here's what my bootloader screen says at this point:

Holy Sweet Jebus!! I finally got ARHD 6.1.0 to boot! WOOT!
I did another superwipe the reflashed it, same copy I've been using the whole time. It prompted to verify phone was US T-Mobile and asked if I wanted the Bravia Engine (same as before) and I said Yes to both.
Now the fun part, getting apps data restored. I did a full app/data backup using Titanium prior to diving into this process. I've seen posts saying not to restore any default apps because they're the Gingerbread version, not ICS. Anyone know if that counts for the data as well? Also I saw a post saying to open Superuser one time before restoring apps that need SU.
Muchas Gracias to All that have replied and helped out!
I didn't restore system apps, user apps with data and everything went fine, and i think if you do system data it would cause some issues

So far only hiccup I've run into restoring app data is for GoSMSPro. TiBkup saved my app settings but not actual txt msgs. I tried restoring from within GoSMSPro and my 2 options were "smsbackup.dat" or a manual .xml backup I ran ages ago. I chose the .dat file and the txts it brought back stop around Oct 10 of last year.

I have experienced the exact same situation except I have no opinion for back-up in my recovery, so I am just stuck with the boot-loop no matter what I do.
Should I try and root it again?
delete your firmawre from the sd card
on the 1.27 it says locked on the hboot but it doesn't .
try to flash 3.24 firmware i know it works perfect have not tried yet 3.30 ....
you should delete the fw after flashing from root sd card .......
Okay, I will try that. and yes, I know to delete off sd card after flash.

Do you mean you don't have a custom recovery (clockwork or EXT4) installed?
If not you can also flash this either via bootloader in pg58img.zip format, or by installing from market if you achieve rom boot.

I flashed ClockworkMod back on my phone, and tried to do a recovery of the last time I backed up before all this bootlooping occurred. But it's still bootlooping.
Sorry I am so impatient, I just haven't had a phone for two days now and I am anxious to fix this. I also don't have the money to replace this phone either.
What I ended up doing is loading a tmous ruu via bootloader and then flashing my stock backup I made before I rooted and the bootloops stopped. But like I said I had to reroot no issues till this day

a brick because I was too ignorant and did not fully (still don't) understand what I was doing. I successfully s-off'd the device and thought I was flying, I then tried to flash something (and for the life of me, I can't find the thread again to say exactly what I flashed) and then....bootlooping like mad.
tried hard reset, wipe dalvic cache, flashing another rom from the sd = epic fail.
Any ideas? someone said I need a revovery image??? but I nver had one, cant go back to a backup I dont have..

Always make a backup when you are flashing.
You could however try downloading one of Mike's (Android Revolution HD) firmware packages. I believe his 3.30 firmware package has custom unlocked HBOOT in it. Next unless you are SuperCID you'll need an RUU (rom) from HTC that supports your phone.
Put the firmware package on the root of your SD from you computer using a card reader. Flash the firmware. Power off and remove the firmware from SD card. Put the RUU on the SD card root.
See if you can boot into the recovery and flash this RUU. Best bet is something like ARHD, I've never had an issue with SuperCID and Mike's rom. Ideally if you get the phone functioning again. Think about SuperCIDing your phone. That way any rom that is supported by your firmware can get you out of trouble.
Another suggestion is that you've updated to rom that doesn't support your firmware. Try flashing to another firmware package, this may well fix your problem. Try one of the later ones (3.30) if that doesn't work. Track down a 3.12 which works with Gingerbread and ICS Roms.

did you have to reroot to get it to work?
because I just installed the correct firmware and attempted to flash a new rom and I am stil in bootloop.
@squash @jaysun - I would move straight to running ruu, this will return you to stock and you can start again.
Just run the ruu from your PC with device attached via USB and in boot loader.
If you are superCID you can run any ruu.
If not, match to your original software, baseband, carrier (if branded) and device.

No worries at all.
So, if you have Sensation xe you need an ruu with "le" in the filename. If it's European, similar - choose European. If your phone was carrier specific e.g. Vodafone IT, pick that one.
That should narrow it to a few candidates.
Now you have to match to your original software and radio version if possible, do you know that?

Make sure you get SuperCID so the firmware update goes through. If you don't have SuperCID then it can look like it updated but it actually fails.
Once you get the firmware flashed properly, you have to delete or rename the firmware zip from your SD card so that you can access recovery.

The problem with this might be which version of htc sense was cooked into the Rom you are using. If you are using a android 4.0.3 rom with sense 3.5 then you need firmware package 3.12 because sense 3.5 needs HBOOT 1.23, and sense 3.6 needs HBOOT 1.27 so you would use the 3.24, 3.30, 3.32 but again it all depends on what the chef has built from if the chef used a 3.5 sense in the rom then that might be your issue.
If not try to just start over, completely format your sd card, then put your rom, supersipe, and firmware on sd card.
1. install firmware from recovery once installed pull battery out and remove sd to take off the firmware file,
2. reinstall sd card, boot phone into recovery- go to install from zip and run the superwipe script once it finishes it will reboot into recovery.
3. then install the rom of your choosing and see if that works.
I use the energy rom series and flashed over from GB using the instructions i found in that forum, it does get confusing if you have not do it a million times....hope this helps ICS is awesome...

Stock is not needed.
You need to ensure that F/W and ROM are compatible. I.e. ICS 1.27.xxxx F/W WILL NOT work with a GB ROM, and GB 1.17.xxxx WILL NOT work with ICS.
Flash the F/W, if not already done. Can't remember what you are on.
SuperWipe (from Mike's ARHD thread).
Flash your chosen ICS ROM.
Pop out the SD card, reboot insert and then delete the PG58IMG.zip ONLY if you flashed the F/W.
Deep joy.

ive been a verizon customer for some time and i finally switched to t-mobile..and i chose as my phone the htc sensation had it for at least 3-4 days and im lovin it..
im lovin the roms that are out for this phone and ive been reading the how to's and noob threads,im not so much of a noob at flashing roms as i did flash lots of roms before but considering as im new to the htc sensation im alil confused on how to be flashing roms for this phone
i see lots and lots of firmwares and radios idk whats what.. i want to flash a sense 3.6 or sense 4.0 rom with ics i did try one but it got me to a bootloop.. i do have s-off and i am rooted.. i flashed this [ROM][Sense 4.0][MAR.25] OrDroid 1.7.2 | Fast & Stable .. it got to boot animation then bootloop
my question is what will i need to flash roms for this phone.. firmwares/radios ect.. yes i know s-off and root which i already have,im running completly stock just with s-off and root
any help i can get please will be much appreciated, thanks a whole lot.. and to all the devs that put there hard work into makin great roms for this phone, thanks
Ok heres the best aosp setup.
Virtuous inquisition 4.
For sense ics roms id go with mike1986 arhd 6.5.3 rom.
So what u need to do is root ur sensation
Supercid
Flash 4ext recovery. Its an apk and easy to do
Upgrade ur firmware to 3.32. Flash in bootloader.
Need mike1986 superwipe script
Rom of your choice.
Boot into recovery. Flash the superwipe. Then flash ur rom. Quick run down of what you need to do.
Skill required? Not much. The hardest part might be using adb and fastboot commands for the supercid. Other than that its easy as pie

thanks so much,so now the supercid i read up on it while requiring s-off and root thats alil confusing but ill read up on it again and the superwipe ive been seeing that on rom threads "flash superwipe" what is that and where would i get it?
and i need a big help,i tried upgrading my firmware to 3.32 and it said "wrong cid" "fail" now its stuck on the htc logo and bootloops help please :'(
Superwipe is down toward the bottom of OP of this thread. It leaves you with a very very clean phone. So no apps, no user data, no ROM. You'd want to have a nandroid backup at the very least before superwiping, as well as titanium backup for your apps etc. You just flash superwipe from recovery like a ROM (install .zip from sdcard).
Sounds like you've got hold of the wrong firmware for your CID. So you either need to know your CID (if you've got your head around adb and fastboot commands, "fastboot getvar cid" will get that for you) and find the right firmware, or supercid your phone so you can use any firmware. Go to this thread for firmware.
For your firmware there's a file,
android.txt, that has a list of CIDs. The T-Mobile CID usually isn't in it. If you do the superCID you shouldn't have to worry about it. Other wise you have to open the file located in the PGM581000 file and add CIDT-MO010 to the txt file. Either way make sure you delete the PGM file immediately after you flash it.

Go to the dev thread for ROMs, ARHD is my preference. Good directions and all the files you need linked right there. Well most ROM threads are that way but this ROM and firmware are smooth and flawless.

This is misleading and not really true. First of all, VI is not true AOSP but Sense with most of the obviously sense parts removed. Secondly OpenSensation CM9 is hands down the best true AOSP rom and now that it has bluetooth and 1080p camcorder there's virtually no reason to use a senseless sense rom like vi.
to everyone that has tried to help me on this, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! giving me all the infos and quick break downs..
now i do have my phone up and running again but heres what i did..
when i learned that you need to upgrade your firmware to flash ics roms
i went to here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618 and i downloaded Firmware from 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x RUU and renamed it to PG58IMG.zip i booted up to hboot and when it read the image file it said "wrong cid" "fail" i tried to boot up the phone normally after and it got stuck on the htc logo then bootlooped from there.. i did have a stock backup but flashing that over didnt work still had the same htc logo bootloop, i still had [ROM][Sense 4.0][MAR.25] OrDroid 1.7.2 | Fast & Stable saved to my sdcard so i tried to flash that to see what would happen and got the same result i then went to here.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767 and downloaded firmware 3.32 Unlocked and renamed it to PG58IMG.zip booted up into hboot it did its thing but this time it successfully flashed.. i booted the phone back up and the rom and phone successfully booted up completly. now im running on [ROM][Sense 4.0][MAR.25] OrDroid 1.7.2 | Fast & Stable as my rom and im just lovin it! but at this point im kinda scared to flash anything else as i do have it booted up i dont wanna mess anything up again lol

Good to hear you're up and running again just a question, at any point in that process did you check your CID? Which 3.32 firmware did you download from the second link?

in the second link i downloaded the t-mobile unlocked 3.32 firmware, i just checked the modelid: PG5813000 which matched mine so i went for it..
i have one more question though..the supercid can i do that while running on a custom ics rom or it doesnt matter? will it still work regardless?

Can I do SuperCID, Flash 4ext recovery, and upgrade firmware without wiping or affecting in any way my current stock (rooted) installation?

CID is carrier identification. The thread you downloaded your T-Mobile firmware from contains firmwares for a variety of CIDs, in other words, specific to whichever carrier your phone came from. SuperCID removes that form of 'branding' and allows you to flash any firmware file, if you look through the list of firmware they can all be flashed to a device with CID 11111111. So essentially we superCID for convenience.
SuperCID has no bearing on what ROMs you can flash, the only consideration is that a particular ROM will require a certain firmware, eg. ICS ROMs need 3.12 base or higher.

Almost. SuperCID and custom recovery you can do no worries. Firmware upgrade will depend on what stock ROM is currently installed, if you flash firmware that your stock ROM isn't compatible with you will get bootloops and most likely have to downgrade. So personally I wouldn't be looking to upgrade firmware until you intend to flash a ROM that requires it. At that point you'll want a custom recovery anyway so it won't hurt to install that now.

Thanks. I'm currently on the T-Mobile Sensation 4G stock ROM S-Off/Rooted. Will going to the 3.32 firmware wipe the stock ROM or cause bootloops for sure?
I also have ClockWork Recovery from a really long time ago. Using ROM Manager to flash a new recovery (trying to update) does nothing. Why does that happen? Perhaps my recovery is too old?

I'm would assume your 4G would already be running ICS? In which case you probably already have up-to-date firmware installed. The firmware update generally applies for people coming from GB to ICS. Go to Settings/About Phone/Software Information/More/Build Number and see what numbers you have there.
Flashing firmware will not wipe your ROM, the worst that will happen is bootloops if the firmware and ROM aren't compatible.
The recovery you have now shouldn't stop you from flashing a new one, instead of using ROM Manager try downloading 4ext from the Play Store and see how that goes.
