Guys,
I have copied the fota zip file which was downloaded by my mobile at the time it received update 2.3.5. Now, because of the mother board replacement, the customer service center guy has put a Singapore ROM in my mobile. I want my India ROM back in it. I have the India RUU but don't have an WiFi to update it to 2.3.5. How can I run the backed up FOTA zip after I run the RUU?
Many thanx,
-Bikram
I think maybe if u can access the android recovery u should be able to flash the zip file with no problem after your ruu
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
Hmm, then I have to root my device. I thought if it is possible running some shell command without routing.
Take it back to the service centre and tell tell them this is an Indian phone and need a Indian ruu

I'm running CM7 on my phone. My 2 brothers running rooted stock 2.2 (I did it for them). Just wondering will OTA be pushed from T-mobile for rooted phone, or I have to update it manually? I asked my brother a couple time but he said didn't get any message from Tmobile yet.

I've got the same question for my G2X. I rooted it using Superoneclick and now wish to flash it with GB provided by LG.
Do I have to unroot it before I update it? If so, can I just use the "unroot" feature of superoneclick?
Do I have to get it back to factory defaults? If so, can I use the "unroot" feature of superoneclick and then use the restore feature in the phone and then update to GB? Or do I even have to "unroot" it before I use the restore to factory defaults in the phone?
I don't mind updating it manually using the LG Mobile Support Tool I just would like to know what to do next. I'm kind of excited about the improvements they've made in GB and would like to take advantage of it I just need to know how to go about it.
Here don't forget to hit the "thanks" button.

Yes, but you won't get the July 15, 2011 baseband which is the best part of the update.

i thought the primary reason ppl were going through the hassle of upgrading to the OTA was to get the new baseband... if that is not available, then what other benefit does it offer vs cm7?

That's surprising. I would've thought the official T-Mobile OTA would've contained the update to the baseband.

The regular OTA did contain the baseband but the zip files on this website were made from people's devices and don't contain the baseband. At this time the only way to get the baseband is to use the LG Updater.

So then it follows that at some point those who received the OTA, before they initiated the actual installation of the update, had an update.zip on their phone's memory that contained the updated baseband, right? I think what the OP is getting at is that it'd be great if someone would've thought to save a copy that zip folder before they actually installed it.

Yes, before installing the OTA update there would have been a zip file of the update on the sd card. I have asked before if anyone saved it BEFORE updating and nobody had it. I also IM'd some people and none of them saved it before installing the udpate. Once the update installs the file is immediately deleted. If there is someone that has this it would help with many issues. It could probably let people install the udpate using the stock recovery, and we would be able to easily extract the baseband and then figure out a way to let people flash the baseband only.
i haven't updated the baseband yet.. If you want, send me a PM and let me know what I need to do, and I'll save a copy... On cm7
Looks like T-Mobile is doing the GB OTA again. Just wondering if anyone gets it, will you save it before you install it?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
It's the same as before, nothing new to see here.
Yes but it would give a very easy way for anyone in the future to upgrade the baseband if we had the official zip file. Nobody saved it last time around so I'm just throwing it out there in case someone gets it and can save it.

G2x - 2.3.7 CM7
Transformer - 3.2 Revolver OC/UV
It might not be that easy like on a Nexus One where they is a zip file in the cache directory. I had an LG Phoenix (Optimus One variant) that got an OTA update. There was no zip file in the cache directory. LG seems to create an FOTA directory somewhere and places various FOTA files around the system. I could not find the main file with the bulk of the OTA update. Also, when it rebooted to perform the update it went into a mode similar to Software Download mode where it performed an AP and CP update at a very low level. If this is the case whatever we can get from this OTA won't be of any help.

My thinking is that at the very least if there is an update.zip then anyone who still wants to upgrade their baseband could just install that and then reflash clockworkmod and restore to their favorite rom.

Yes, if there is an update.zip type file this would be true. But based on recent experience with another LG phone it wasn't that simple and I gave up looking for all the files. On the two Nexus Ones when I owned them, they simply had an update.zip (another name with build, checksum, etc in file name.zip) that could be put back on the phone and be flashed in regular recovery, provided that the phone had stock, unmodified firmware from one of the the previous two updates.

You cannot get the OTA with an unknown baseband as it reads the baseband to do the OTA. And since OTA means Over the Air if you have no signal you cannot get it OTA. Use the KDZ method (search the forums for it).
Hey everyone. I am in need for a stock T-Mobile rom that's flashable via clockwork. I don't know where my stock backup went, and I can't seem to easily find a link of it on this forum via tapatalk. Most of what I find in the dev section is .ruu. can anyone help me out with a link?

I'm guessing you wanna send it back for warranty purposes? Flashing the stock rom without s-on and stock recovery wont work. Run the ruu. If you really want a stock rom zip, tell me. I'll extract it for you.

I had S-OFF, I sent it in the HTC, they replaced the screen, and sent it back.
No issues.
I did revert back to stock with the RUU, but still S-OFF.

Download the RUU in the link above your post, put the phone into fastboot mode, connect to the PC and run the RUU - you're now back to stock so you can send it away if required
the ruu in my post works i tried about 20 or them and none worked
after ruu just install recovery and super user

Why have you linked to a 3rd party site in your 'guide' when the file is available DIRECT from HTC:

If you can also link to my original thread as it's clearer than yours
If for a replacement you don't need that I sent mine back running tripndroid. Just go into to the store find the biggest dumb ass they don't care. She asked about the recovery and boot image and I told her that I had to call HTC about my GPS not working and they walked me thru an update on the computer she said "okay sense you have had issues before we will send a warranty replacement it will be over nighted to you". which it was they did ups over night a phone the next day and i sent mine back in the box provided
It was all over my touch screen stopped responding completely

I have prepared a PG58IMG.ZIP for those who are looking for the firmware package that was included in the 12/7/2011 T-Mobile US OTA update for the HTC Sensation 4G. I have successfully flashed the PG58IMG.ZIP with no issues running a custom ROM (CyanogenMod 7 Alpha 10) and recovery. Power button issues appear to have been resolved, but due to their intermittent nature I cannot confirm 100%.
IMPORTANT: This does NOT flash a ROM and will NOT update your version number or any other settings you will be able to visually see. However, it DOES update your miscellaneous firmware partitions to the latest versions that were included in the OTA. These updates may be required to correct the power button or other miscellaneous issues with the touchscreen that people may be experiencing.
Please post your results or findings after flashing this package and whether or not your power button issues have been corrected. Also, please post other information about your phone setup - ROM, radio, kernel etc.
Release Notes for the OTA are as follows:
Code:
New Features
Software stability
Improved battery life
Improvements
Improvements to Trace dictionary
Screen unresponsiveness resolved
Device taking screen shots resolved
Lock screen shifted up resolved
Icon pixilation resolved
Improved Wi-Fi connection
Green lines on photo resolved
Additionally, the OTA firmware.zip includes the following:
boot.img
hboot_8x60_1.18.0000_20110802_signedbyaa.nb0
pg2fs_spcustom.img
rcdata.img
recovery.img
tp_PYD_CYP340F0C.img
My PG58IMG.ZIP has removed the hboot, boot.img, and recovery.img so you will be able to flash this on any ROM without reverting back to stock.
Flashing instructions:
1) Download the PG58IMG.ZIP from the link below
2) Place PG58IMG.ZIP on the root directory of SD Card
3) Reboot into Bootloader
4) Select Bootloader
5) A prompt will ask to initiate update
6) Confirm update
7) Press power button to reboot when prompted

The file is 71 KB... are you sure this is the tmous 14mb update?
And how is it an upgrade since CM7 is 2.3.7 and this is 2.3.4?

Did you loose root? Or its safe to flash it mate?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e with Beats Audio using xda premium
It's not the entire OTA - just the firmware.zip included in the OTA. It's made into a bootloader flashable zip.
You will not lose root, it does not affect the ROM/Recovery/Hboot in any way.
The file is only 71 kb, maybe a bad upload?

should pretty much everyone install this?? It can only help right
And I don't think we should worry about the size because if it's just a change to firm wear it's probably just changing text values inside the software. is that right?

Nope, that is the entire file. It's just miscellaneous firmware that is installed on different partitions of the device.
I'm going to wait till the file is actually 10mb which is the specific size for the radio
You realize this OTA didn't include a radio right?

Just flashed in hot boot file works fine Thanks
I thought the power button issue was kernel related.
Just flashed it and everything went fine, but phone says it is running software 1.45.531.1 not the newest 1.5
I think some people are missing the point of this.
It's not the whole OTA. It's the firmware aka stuff that you would get from flashing an RUU or OTA, but can't get from simply flashing a ROM. There's a lengthy thread somewhere started by rmk40 explaining this. I'd link it, but can't search on the XDA app. Your software version will not change from flashing this.
Sdobron, thanks very much for extracting this for us.
It failed for me. The TP file said fail-pu. I didn't even see the rcdata being updated.

so you are saying that you are completely stock
if yes then that's weird notifying all the time for update
also there should be somewhere located the update.zip because when i was in stock condition too i had OTA updates in my sdcard
try this
connect to the internet and search again for update
if it shows you that there is an update available just download it but not install it
disconnect from internet and then perform the update
see how it goes after that
