So i'm soon going to get a Skyrocket, i have the Hercules but i'm going to do a switch for a more futureproof decision. Anyway I noticed that the Skyrocket has much more options compared to the Hercules in the case department. So i wanted to know you guys and gals think is the best case for the Skyrocket.
In My Opinion.. which im also using right now is the otterbox commuter. i wouldn't say it as a best case, but it does the job i needed it to do, i can slip it in and out of my pocket easily and fully protects my phone from nicks and bumps and doesnt really add greater bulk to it. plus it cover your headphone jack and charging port... which i think is really neat.

I cant say the best for everyone but imho the otter defender is best for me. I'm hard on my phones and it doesnt add too much bulk to it.
Im using the Seidio active case. It looks super nice and provides great protection.... check it out.

Seidio makes awesome cases. I've used them for a year or 2 and they all have done a great job. Just got my SkyRocket and I'm eagerly waiting for my active to show up
Sent from low Earth orbit with my SkyRocket.
i am also using the Seidio Active case with the holster also it has a kickstand which is also pretty handy
I love seidio.. but I cant get over how much lint and dust collects on the soft inner layer on the active cases.. drives me mad. same for the otterbox commuter... seidio surface has been my weapon of choice for many years. cept the ones for skyrocket feel cheaper to me. and kinda loose.
I like my diztronic. Its no otterbox defender but its low profile and hardly noticeable.

ringke makes two nice cases, I chose the slim one my sammyrocket wants to get his sexy on ..
I like this one. It's a premium leather case from SGP. Looks good, feels good and has great protection.

Its like a Barely There. Love this case for low profile.
I am currently using the otterbox commuter.
I also have the case-mate tough case in black/red that I really like with one complaint. The the hard plastic shell does not fit snugly against the soft inner rubber. I thought at first I just received a bad case, I sent it back to case-mate explaining the poor fit and they sent a new one that arrived today. I installed the case and it has the same issue.
Looks great and if the hard plastic outter shell fit securely it would be a great case.
i got the casemate barely there brushed aluminum and silver SGP neo hybrid.......love em both, hated all otterboxs' and the casemate pop.......too damn bulky!!!
those leather ones are really nice just flipping it open every time to use it makes me wonder ..
I also had an amzer tpu which for the price was fine.
I chose the slim because not like the skyrocket is a flimsy pos anyways, I've dropped other phones bare 20+ times on blacktop and concrete they never broke or malfunctioned at all .
I also like the Trident case for the skyrocket though yep
i have a guy building aluminum bumpers for it , screw seal and all -20USD soon xda, vewy soon
Can anyone confirm if/any cases fit with a full Invisishield?
My Skyrocket was bought from Ebay and it came with the Otterbox Defender case. So far it has done wonders as I have extremely clumsy hands. Design wise, I don't know how it can get much better.

I just got a Otterbox commuter. I cannot understand why the corners have no hard shell protection, if you drop your phone there is a good chance it will land on a corner with heavy impact. The most frustrating though is how hard it is to use the volume up/down pads, massive resistance.

I bet its because the phone would be 10x harder to take out if the corners had hard shell protection. Plus if you take a look at the inner layer of the case, it has extra width in the corner areas for the very reason of needing extra protection during drops for those often hit areas. Concerning the buttons, idk about massive pressure. I use the power and volume buttons constantly while hearing music and usually get away with just pressing down a little harder..

I don't know about that. I had a captivate with an otterbox commuter, full shell zero problems and other than this being 0.5 inches larger the form is almost identical.
I am glad the buttons are easy to press for you though because it is that that is the reason for myself and tons of others returning it.

Barely there case, protection from minor scratches occuring from sliding your phone accross a table, doesnt not add any fall protection to it and it is not raised enough to keep your screen from being scratched if layed on its face.
Tough Case adds minor fall protection and is raised in the front to protect the screen if you lay it on its face or it falls on the face. Doesn't add alot of bulk to the phone.
I would honestly not recomend getting the Barely There case unless you are 1: Not Clumsy 2: Have a sit on your but at a desk job all day 3: Don't have any young kids or roudy pets.
I would recomend getting either a Casemate Tough Case - Casemate Pop Case - Otterbox Commuter/Defender Case.
Oh and a Zagg Shield for the screen.. those things are freakin insanely hard to screw up.
I'm using the Black Barely there, its awesome
I am using the Tough Case and I love it. Not much bulk for a fair amount of protection.

I have EVERY colour of the Barely There, I absolutely love them (the white is my go to colour!). I have a few other cases, epik and one TPU plastic purple case from best buy, but none compare to slimness of the BT's.
Also depends on how you are with your device. Do you tend to throw it around, or are you careful with it? Barely There's are nice, but you'll need to be careful, as it's not a "full-coverage" kind of case.
Thank u all for the info. I have the tough case and it is great but it collects a lot lint and dust.
The barely there case should be here today, hopefully this one is the winner.

ive been using the casemate pop case..love it so far..
wouldnt mind trying out the otterbox defender or speck candyshell..
the barely there case doesnt seem like it has much protection..
I love my tough case, looks great and protection is great. Now if you are gonna be taking your SD card and battery out a lot, then it might be a pain..

I like white cases on my phones too, but I haven't tested this one...do you know if they get all grimy and yellow after a while??
Thanks!
i have the pop case as well. It seems to me like it protects the corners of the unit better. The tough case does not have a hard shell that extends around the corners of the phone.
I have the tough case and I love it. Feels great in the hand and protects the phone very well.
Nothing beats the case mate pop! Cases. **** design. Good durability.

Hey,
What do you guys use/recommend for a slim fascinate case? I like the ones that have part of the top and bottom recessed. I also would like to now your opinions on cases with kickstands.
Thanks.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
The OEM Fascinate Kickstand case works well, and adds about a mm of thickness. Kickstand works well. I've dropped the phone about twice on concrete, no damage on the phone and a few dings on the case
Sent from a Limited Edition phone from a Premium app..
How does the kickstand last over time and being dropped?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
Incipio has an awesome thin case
The kickstand doesn't potrude out so it stays smooth along the surface of the case. I haven't had any issues with it at all. I've never dropped it in its kickstand position, because.......your not supposed to move it when its in kickstand position. But the kickstand is firmly attached to the case, so no worries about breaking it off unless you force it off yourself. Everyone who has used it mostly has good things to say about it.

I recently got the Seido Active-X. Really happy with it.
IMO, the best case out there:
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/csk3ssfas-rd.htm
great protection, slides in and out of pocket easily, and looks great.
Thought I'd just pitch in with this:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Fasci...sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=mobile&qid=1303942589&sr=8-7
It's quite slim, fits in my pocket easily, it has a nice feel to it, and it's probably one of the cheapest options. I've gone through a few cases with this phone but I never really like the way they made the phone feel. This case on the other hand make the phone feel reeeaal comfy. I actually prefer having it on as opposed to leaving the phone naked.
The only real problems I have with it are that it's a bit of a lint collector and small
parts of the spine may need to be filed down (little sharp bits of excess plastic).
I have the incipio one and i love it. It also can be removed easily if using a dock. I will be picking up a second one actually in a different color I like it so much. It is also only 1mm thick but still provides plenty of protection.
I like the seido ones as well but to me too bulky. My wife loves it though.

I have the OEM Kickstand case and have had nothing but good experiences with it. I've dropped my fascinate once on concrete and there's nothing but a scuff on the edge of the case to show for it. It's sturdy and obviously fits the phone very well. The kickstand is sturdy as well. If you listen to music or watch video the kickstand allows you to access the screen without laying the phone down and covering the speaker.
If you really want a super thin case I have the Case Mate Barely There case and it is amazingly thin and has worked great for me so far.

Being the case junkie that I am, I've experienced quite a few cases for my Inspire.
This is just to try to help anyone in deciding what case to get or not get. Also, if anyone is interested I'm selling some of these that I've used only for a day or so, I'll explain later in this post. These are ranked from my least favorite to most favorite. So, lets begin.
6. Speck Candyshell- Although many people are big fans of Speck, I just felt like they produced an clunky, ugly case for the phone. It basically added a second bezel to the Inspire and I really didn't like the look or feel. Although the protection is decent, it is way over priced and the aesthetics just don't do it for me. I actually returned this to the AT&T store the same day I bought it.
5. Seidio Surface II- Probably the most annoying case I've owned. Once I put it on, it took me over two hours to learn the 'trick' to getting it off. Although I like the soft touch finish and the protection is good for a sleek case, the hassle of taking it off and the ugly back camera cutout annoy me.
4. Otterbox Defender- Alas, the Defender. While I can say I felt like my phone was virtually indestructible with this case on, it was just a bit too much. I couldn't fit the phone in my jeans pocket and it would get covered with lint due to the rubber outer case. The screen protector scratched easily and felt strange as well. The protection though is a major selling point and probably a good investment for someone without an insurance policy. Protection good, making my phone a rubbery brick, not so good.
3. Otterbox Commuter- While it is much slimmer than the Defender, the Commuter offers decent protection with a few flaws. I really am not of fan of the plastic backing of the case, it's slippery and feels very fragile to me. Also, the port cover for the usb and headphone jack is annoying to maneuver in place and often times falls out. The case is decent protection and slim, but there are those couple things that bring it down.
2. Trident Aegis- It's protection + good looks + a decent price. The Aegis offers Defender-like protection in a variety of colors in a modern, attractive design. There is basically nothing wrong with this case besides the impossible-to-avoid-bulk and the semi-challenging installation.
1. My favorite case I've used to date: Case-Mate Tough. So far, this is perfection for me. It's sleek, it's protective, it has got a nice grip finish, it's everything without the trade-offs. You can bet that my phone rests in my Tough as I type this. It's the best of every world and it's even a value! I got mine for $16 shipped on eBay.
So, if you're in the market for a case and you stumble upon these, maybe you'll take my opinions into account, or maybe you wont. Thanks for reading.
Thanks for the reviews. I am using the seidio convert and like the defender, it is a bit much. I may have to try the case mate tough.
Again, thanks for the time to review these and the money spent lol.

Haha, I am also an accessory whore, I have about 20 cases for my iPod touch 4th gen(Not that I use it all) and Currently only own about 5 cases for my Inspire and about 20 micro usb cables...
I was looking into getting the otterbox defender, considering I have their case on every device I own besides my Inspire, but your review tempted me to not get it...
Thanks for doing the work for me
otter
only one i've tried was the otterbox commuter and I really like it... but you're right.. the usb cover can be annoying at times
thanks for the reviews though... i might try out the case mate tough soon
I have the s line case from eBay. It is very small which means it prolly isn't the greatest protection but it fits into the pocket perfectly and isn't super gelly and stretchy.
Best part is its 5 dollars and offers nice grippy sides.
Seidio Surface II it is useless when trying to use an screen protector. I have try both clear coat and skinomi and it pulls both from the edges. DO NOT BUY !! I will give a shot to one of the Otterbox.
+1 for the Case Mate Tough Case, have one on my Nexus One and my Inspire, haven't looked back

+1 for the Otterbox commuter. I couldn't agree more with your review on that. I'm still a huge fan of it though....even aside from the annoying rubber piece near the bottom of the device lol.
I have the HTC Inspire Casemate Tough case, and it is AWESOME! It's a bit of a ***** to get the battery out when you have those times, but other than that, I love the dual-layer design, and awesome grip that it provides. Definitely better than the Body Glove case I bought for my Captivate.
I have been using the Casemate tough since I got my phone in the middle of May. I must say that I do like the way it feels. I don't think it is too bulky. Feels just right. Only thing I do not like about the case is the bottom rubber piece on the front side of the phone. It is flimsy and moves!
I just got the Otterbox Commuter and I like how it looks, but the back is too slick for me as well. I like how the bottom piece of the rubber is stopped in place by the plastic hard shell.
To give an idea of what I mean to some, I place my phone in my left pants pocket. Top pointing down. When I go to grab my phone, I tend to pull it by the bottom piece of the case like I used to do with my iPhone. Granted I have been getting accustomed to not doing that with the inspire due to its bigger shape, it is still a little annoying that the little rubber piece on the casemate is like that.
Does anyone have a suggestion on a similiar case?

So if removal was not a factor, would the Seidio be higher in your ratings? Also, do either the Seidio or CM Tough hang up like a silicone cover when you remove them from your pocket?

Cannot agree more! I too have been using this since I got the phone in mid-May and have been liking it so far. The other thing that I do not like is the inside rubbery protection tends to catch a lot of lint when put in the pockets. Other than it, the case is solid with a good look and feel.
i'm waiting on my commuter
i'll post some comments
Have any of you tried the Casemate Pop?
I have two Otterbox defenders and you are right about the lint problem, it drives me nuts but I have to admit that I don't mind the bulk. I came from a 5 year old WM smartphone that was a brick without a case, haha. So I don't mind a bulky phone.
The only reason I got the defender was that it has the plastic hinges for snapping it into adapters, so you can purchase mounts for it and put it in your car with a satisfying "click". That and I decided to opt out of insurance, since adding 6$ a month and a 150$ deductible seemed silly to me.
The phone is extremely slippery without any cover on it and the bottom half of the phone (where the antenna is) will crack or dent with the slightest impact because it is hollow.
The next thing I am going to build is a custom dock for the car, I just wish I didn't have to dismantle the entire dash to add an FM modulator to the antenna line . I have a bad habit of breaking plastic fasteners and rivets.
Thanks for the reviews, ill be avoiding the defender cases because of their size.

I really like the looks and feel of it....But.....
My GPS has def took a hit....Took a LOT longer to get a lock....sometimes it never did....

I heard the seidio has no effect on GPS signal...I guess Ill give it a try..

Just ordered a Defender, should be here in a day or so. Bulk doesn't bother me, I carried my last phone with a projector attached to it. I'm a mechanic and really want the best protection I can get. Know what you mean about those plastic clips.
For an FM modulator, I like the Motorola T505. It clips to your visor and you can use it to stream music and as a speakerphone. It just won't charge or hold your phone. Upload some pics when you get your dock finished though.
If the Sedio wasn't so difficult to remove it would be higher up, although it still scratches easily and allows a lot of dust to build up under the case. I've been soley using the tough since this post and my inspire has taken some nasty spills with no harm done at all. Also, I just took off my screen protector last week and have found using the phone without one is so much better. Anyone else agree?

Case mate barely there for me. I've always liked the minimal amount of casing and have been lucky enough so far to never need anything more. Anything bigger than this case seems too bulky for me. It's a quality case and has a nice matte feel to it.

Have a couple of these for my phone. They actually work very well and fit nicely. My phone came with one and I decided to buy another. Nice thig is the more you buy the more color combinations you can come up with. Here are a few pictures. To fin just type (Samsung i727 hybrid) into ebay and search through all the different colors. Not bad for under $10

Cool idea mixing n matching. My girl has one of these on her skyrocket. Good case indeed for the price.
I've seen them, but didn't give them too much thought because they seemed "cheap" in the sense of net being very good. Thanks for the real world update! :good:
I have been looking around for a good case, i had the otter box and its a great case but hard to get in and out of your pocket..... does the rubber on this case make it dificult to slide in and out of your pocket?
I recommend everyone take a look at the Ballistic Case line. I haven't found anything with this much protection. Check the Nexus S variant on Amazon for awesome reviews. TPU backing makes sliding in and out of your pocket a breeze.
The rubber corners that go a bit in front of the screen are without a doubt the best protection I've ever come across. No worries at all about any future drops, the extra few mm of bulk are worth it without a doubt.

I havent found any issues at all going in and out of my pocket. Being the skyrocket is very light (compared to my htc vivid) i would think that drops with this case would be more than effective at protecting it. This combined with a good screen guard is pretty good. Once and a while if you take your phone out of your pocket quickly you will notice the rubber on one of the corners might start to come off but it happens very rarely and its easy to pop the phone back in. I never liked the silicone cases but with this having the solid support that wraps around on all 4 sides it works very well. It also protects to hard keys on the sides and both the charging port and headphone jack. I like it better than the speck case i had for my vivid.
I am very anal about what I buy to protect my devices and I am inpressed with these. I will be buying one every payday until I have all the different colors that I want. I think I paid 7.99 with free shipping and had it here in 3 buisness days. Don't get me wrong though if you are very tough on your phone then I would recommend the Otter Box, Speck Candy shell or the Casemate Tough Series. But for most people these are more than satisfactory. Th rubber on the corners are pretty tough like that of the balistic cases. The case is just thick enough to keep the sensitive homekeys on the bottom from touching your face during a call.

I heavily disagree about Ballistic brand cases being easy to take in and out of pockets....my gf has one for her I727 and it's impossible to take in and out of pockets, puraes, etc.
That being said, that case has survived quite a few nasty falls. The protection is the best I've seen.

Perhaps. The in/out of pocket is really a relative opinion unfortunately since some consider any resistance a huge annoyance. I can see the corners being an issue though, especially if you like to keep the phone in front Jean pockets.

I just ordered mine from ebay, but since this case seems to be really thick, what kind of belt pouch holster do you recommend, I guess the one I use actually will not fit?

To be honest I'm not sure which will fit. I had the otter box and the pt case combo for my inspire and I didn't like either one. Just gets in my way a lot. I like having it in my pocket anyways. Feels safer that way. If you do find one that fits could you please share for other members that like the combo.
They are on Amazon for 7.00 + 3.00 shipping.

No pro9bloem, I will do.
Right now, I love this new case, I think it's the best ever. It fit barely in my belt pouch , I don't know what I will do, maybe carry it in my pocket like you.
Just got the 3 I order and I gotta say I love em gonna def order more soon!

Is there a built-in screen protector on any of these cases? Some of the descriptions are unclear, and a built-in would be nice. Having to adhere one to the screen makes my Otterbox Defender unusable, as it would peel the protector off every time.
My mom bought one of these off ebay for her Galaxy S2 and she really liked it. I was considering one for my Skyrocket, but I ended up getting a standard silicone case. I've always had problems with my phone sticking in my pocket. This hybrid case was easier to get in and out of pockets but the rubber parts on the corner did stick a little. After a couple of months, though, I noticed that the plastic part of this hybrid case had cracked in several areas. I'm not sure how it got cracked, because she hasn't dropped the phone or anything. If anyone is interested I can try to post pictures, assuming I can find where she put the damaged case.
I'd definitely be interested in seeing that. I took my Defender off last night (found it was causing some heat issues with ICS) and put a Zagg screen protector on, which more or less rules out the possibility of using the Defender again. I'm torn between one of the other Otterbox cases or a handful of these.
I have this cheapo http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-Kicks...423428?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2a1fef9d04
very similar type of design with the built-in kickstand. Personally the rubber hasn't given me any issues.
FYI, you can find virtually all of these cases on Amazon for less (including shipping) than eBay. Just search "i727 hybrid". If you're planning to mix and match, keep an eye on the manufacturers. Mybat and Case-Xpro seem to be the same company (or, at least, identical designs), but Dragoncell, which makes the cases shown in the OP, uses a different size of plastic mesh than Mybat/Case-Xpro do.
I'm going to order one Dragoncell, one Mybat and one Case-Xpro and see how much I like each. I'll post results here. I mean, $25 for 3 cases (incl. shipping) isn't much to complain about.
Hi
I'm just looking for some advice.
I'm using a Spigen Slim Armour currently and whilst I love the case I find it's a little bit slippery and the lip on the front is a little too shallow for my liking.
I cant decide whether to get an Otterbox Commuter or Cygnett Workmate. I've never owned cases from either but Otterbox is a brand name I recognise.
I like the workmates protection --- the drop test is convincing but there are reports about the charging port being too small.
The otterbox looks like it might be a bit slippery and may not offer the same protection.
Any advice welcome!
Im using an Otterbox Commuter right now, it's not that slippery though but kinda bulky compared to Spigen..

Thanks I happy with a bit of extra bulk for the extra protection. The spigen is very stylish but I'm not sure how well it will strand up to being dropped.. and it's pretty slippery!!
If I were you I'd go with the workmate. But I personally use the UAG navigator case.

Go for Otterbox Defender (if you don't mind the size). :good:
I realised I wrote defender..I meant the commuter case. The defender is just too heavy duty for me.

I currently use an otterbox commuter. I think for the protection it offers it's not that bulky.
It still easily fits in the breast pocket of my military uniform without being all that noticeable.
Plus otterbox has awesome customer service and warranty. I've gotten several brand new cases from them over the years when port covers broke off or if I had other issues with the case.

Just got the Cygnett Workmate Evolution today. It's a bit bulky but I dont mind because it's going to protect the phone. One thing that I just noticed and you also pointed it out was the phone charger wouldn't go in and it's true. I'm using the stock charger that came with my phone. I'm probably going to get a new charger or return the case.
I have the commuter and I love it.

Thanks.. I'm sorry it doesn't fit. I think I read on xda that they were changing the design.

No need to worry. Yes, the charging port is too small (narrow) for the stock S4 charger, but one sharp knife and five minutes later... problem solved.
I received my Workmate Evolution earlier this week, and got my S4 this morning. Sure enough, the charging port was too narrow. I took a sharp knife and raked it across the upper and lower surfaces of the case's port, holding the blade at a 90° angle to the surface. Thus, abrading it rather than cutting it. Took about five minutes.
In Cygnett's defense, the OEM charger plug is much bigger than any other micro USB cable plug I own.
Hours into owning the phone, I can say I'm happy with both it and the Cygnett case.

+1 for otterbox.
I've been using it since iphone 4.
I recall dropping it from 6 feet on concrete.
The corner of hard shell broke but my iphone was flawless. They also sent me a replacement case and honoured on their lifetime warranty policy.
As for s4 commuter, I personally find it a 'little' slippery but not as much as a naked s4.

I absolutely love both Otterbox and Cygnett. In the past, I've had issues with Otterbox's silicone warping out of shape. The new one on my wife's HTC One (which is identical to the one I tested on my S4 earlier) is way better than the older versions. Went with Cygnett this time purely based on aesthetics as I think the Cygnett looks wayyyyyy better.
The main differences in protection are that the commuter cases have the hard polycarbonate closer to the edges, while cygnett offers a wider tpu layer. The lip above the screen on the workmate is slightly higher than that of the Commuter. Cygnett's TPU is harder though I can't offer an opinion on if its better or worse (though it means the fit on the Cygnett is slightly better, espcially around the sections where the hard bits clamp around the soft bits). I think the hard shell is thinner but the TPU thicker on the workmate
Usage wise, the Cygnett is slightly grippier than the otterbox. The button presses slightly less mushy. The edge of the lip on the front is sharper and you'll notice it though it's not uncomfortable. I like the fact that the ports are uncovered, but the reports are right. The hole for the USB port is too narrow. I can't fit the original cable in, however it's not a deal breaker for me as I have 3 other cables and chargers. Nothing a sharp hobby knife can't fix though.
To be honest, unless the sharper edge on the front lip or usb port hole size are deal breakers, I would recommend the Cygnett. That being said, both are pretty good cases, and you can't go wrong with either when it comes to protection.

i bought the WorkMate over the weekend. love the case.
http://www.frys.com/product/7651437?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
super tough bounced across the floor a few times already and no scuffs or anything removes easy to change out the battery and/or SD card
Hey figsalan101,
Nick here form Cygnett, mate.
Sorry to hear about that the charger port isn't lining up correctly with the WorkMate Evolution, we have had a few reports of this happening.
The issue of the charging port has been fixed and all of the cases we are introducing into the market now are working correctly. You entitled to a refund or exchange at the point of purchase if you'd like to.
Regards,
Nick
I went for the black Cygnett Workmate Evolution in the end and love it - thanks for the advice.
The ports are all correct - I bought it directly from Cygnett's website and I guess they have fixed the issues with the earlier ones.
The buttons are still a little stiff even after a couple of weeks use.. but it's a small price to pay for the protection.
I have dropped it once already when getting out of my car. It bounced on my driveway a couple of time without any visible damage.
I still like my Spigen Neo Hybrid, Slim Armour and UAG Scout but none offer the protection I need at work... and excellent grip.
