Hello, my screen was acting wierd, and it had some sort of Humidity in the digitizer, so I decided to open it up, see if maybe I could "dry" it or something.
well I open it up, very carefully, everything whent perfect, I could not do anything to the digitizer, so I put it all back together, and it worked perfectly, except that I forgot to connect the jog wheel, so I open it up again, again very carefully, and everything whent ok, or so it seemed, now my polaris can't detect the sim card, no matter what I do, I open it up again to see if the cable was lose or anything and the same deal... nothing fixed it...
did I broke my polaris? maybe its just the sim holder? does anyone know where I could get a replacement sim holder with the ribbon cable?
or any other ideas, I triple checked that everything was connected, and that the ribbon cables were all good...please help!!!
maybe your sim card burned... did you try with another sim?
unfortunately for me... no, the SIM card is working fine on my other phone and I also tried 2 different SIMs
any pointers on where can I get spare parts ?
Could it still be wet? Have you let it dry out?
it was never wet, so i don't think thats the problem..its very wierd
but still looking for spare parts... if anyone knows...
Well i guess My Polaris is done for No Sim detected, so if anyone need a polaris for spare parts, let me know, the only thing wrong with it is that it does not detect the Sim Card.... make me an offer
Hi, i was struggeling with the same problem and just found a simcard holder replacement:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=400007523660
hope that helps all people with that problem.
i have had that on mine as well, it wouldnt detect my simcard but i found out that by installing it better it made it work. since you havent touched anything, i cant believe you burned a controller or you snapped something. look at it better
I think I know the solution. As least I can reproduce the problem with few my SIM cards. Namely, after inserting the SIM card in Polaris holder, as a final move, one should gently PUSH IT DOWN until you will feel a slight click. That's it!
Actually, the word "PUSH" is even written at the holder, but I thought it is only for a side push.
Regards and good luck!
Well I tried several times in diferent ways, with no luck, so I finally decided to order that sim holder, hopefully that will solve the problema... now I will have to wait 3-5 weeks and I will have my phone back (fingers crossed!) thanks leonidas333 for the link and thanks everyone else for their tips
try 2 flash the room again it did that with me but when i flashed the room it worked just fine
HI all, I am currently using khalpowers V4, and was using Dexter's 1.3 before too.
What is happening is that every hour or so, the phone will detect no sim card. I'll have to remove battery, take out sim, re insert in, and HOPE it works on my next reboot (chances varies, some times it takes a while before it reads again).
I am not sure if its a hardware or software issue, my sim card is fairly scratched (don't know if that plays a role in this).
What i realize recently is that once i get that problem, i can get into open recovery and wipe DALVIK cache, and it'll detect it again without having me to remove and reinsert my sim card.
Was wondering if this is just me or the rom? Or if anyone have any experience with this kind of madness, this is driving me nuts as i have to restart my phone every hour.

i'll agree with this
it's probably the SIM card that has got scratched, faulty, or something happened to it
i had to replace mine a while back for similar reasons
actually i was unable to send SMS out, but i was able to receive.
and incidentally i'll randomly get no signal
after i changed the SIM card for a new one, all the problems went away.
that was on my other phone.
never had problem on the XT720
extract rar folder then take the only (sub khalpowers V4 folder) and put the SD card installed .... ok ......You'll see it works ... the problem is the double folder

Thanks, i just wanted to confirm if it really is the sim, i suspect it is, but the thing is that it KINDA works, and then don't.... i guess i'll have to invest in a new sim card. Anyone know if Wind will give me a new one if i whine to them?

Could it be a loose connection? I've read about people that have trouble with loose connections on their SD cards positioning a piece of paper to increase the contact force.

yup, i got my replacement for free, but you have to first call customer service, and explain to them what is going on
then if they believe it's a SIM problem, they will tell you to go to any corporate store, and they will replace it for you at no charge
the CS will put a note on your profile, which the store can look up, and honour the free SIM replacement.

unfortunately i tried that already, but executed the idea in a VERY poor way, i actually put the paper at the tip of the sim and pushed it in to make the contact better, BUT when i slide the sim out, the papaer was still stuck inside, now i can't push my sim in all the way.... at least it still works .....
felt retarded, but at least lesson learned ><

Thanks i'll give them a call and give it a try.
I had the exact same problem for a week. At first the SIM got disconnected after leaving the phone idle for 10-20 minutes, then after many reboots the SIM card wouldn't be detected at all.
I got it replaced for free as well, and some of my other messaging and call problems went away too. =)
I'm sorry if this is reposted, however I looked around and couldn't find an issue similar to this.
I dropped my phone while juggling (not literally) groceries earlier and the first thing that came up was an error stating that the sim card was not found. I've taken it out, put it back in, restarted multiple times, etc. I don't know what to do here.. I've rooted and unlocked my phone (used HTCdev for the bootloader) so I don't think I send it in.
I've done a hard reset, but I don't think that is really helping. SO.. now I'm not sure really what my options are. I read that you can't relock your phone after using the HTCdev fix and I'm very noob so I'm not sure if the reset took off my root.
Basically, do any of you guys have any suggestions as to how to move forward from here?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Well coming from a cell repair standpoint, I would at least make sure it can't detect other sim cards before you get drastic. PM me and I'll try and walk you through it.

SO my friend just came over and he has an iPhone (AT&T). We swapped simcards, he called my girlfriend's phone and it worked fine. Still the same problem with my phone though... definitely seems like a hardware issue at this point.
Yeah you probably managed to knock the connector for the slot loose, or it bent the slot a little more than how it already sits. The one x's sim slots are actually really bad. I had to get 3 different sim cards before I got a working one, because the old iphone batch was fractions of a millimeter thinner and didn't sit right.
You could always try to put something on your sim to thicken it and see if that makes it work, but you gotta be careful with that, as you could lose something into your phone like that if you dont attach it to the sim somehow.
I wasn't able to come up with a sim-thickening contraption, which is why i just got new ones.
see if you can find someone with a very new android phone. Chances are they dont have the old iphone sims, and this will give you a better test

Scotch tape will do the job nicely for the sim.
As for ops problem, my daughter dropped her iphone and had the no sim error after. Phone had to be replaced, id call your carrier and get it swapped out.
So, bought the phone few days ago, and it arrived today. It seemed to work just right, I dont know who the modded the phone, but he did sim mod on it. After putting sim card to the phone it seemed to work just fine, connected to networks and stuff. So I decided to unlock the bootloader and put cyanogenmod on the phone. It worked fine for few hours but now I lost connection to sim card, and I shut down the phone. Took sim card out and put it back in, it did recognize it, but I couldnt contact to any networks, I tried to swapping to GSM only and stuff, but nothing seemed to help. I tried re-flashing CM, but it really didnt help. When I changed the connection type to GSM, it connected to the network for few seconds and then disconnected again. Im gonna try flashing stock rom on but seems like there is something wrong with the phone. Has anyone else had the same problem?
E: Couldnt flash stock rom on the phone using MIUI now and constantly getting messages for "SIM card removed"
So seems like problem is in the sim card holder.
Case of bad luck/coincidence.
Try applying pressure to the SIM (you can remove the back). This way you can find out if it's the holder. I had also had this problem. Not sure if it's a type of holder or just a bad mod. But Cornholio fixed it for me. Contact him, maybe it can be fixed easily. I just sent him my phone since I also had a Photon who needed a new mod.

Probably trying to get the seller to refund to me, seems like he had same problems that I just got but he didnt tell me first, but started to tell me that he had just the same problems earlier. Well, I really wouldnt like to open the phone before I can see what he thinks about the refund.

No need to open the back. Get a very thin knife or something like that. Pry it between the cover and the SIM. it will apply enough pressure to see if that's the problem.
Owned the phone for about a month now. Phone was working perfectly fine for the majority of this time. I use 2 different sims and they were both working smoothly until recently.
A few days ago, I woke up and the phone wouldn't recognize the Sim cards anymore. I took out the Sim tray, cleaned the Sim cards and the tray as thoroughly as I could and they both started working again. A few days later, I restarted my phone and both of the Sims stopped working again.
This time nothing I would do would solve the matter, so for the next few days the phone wouldn't recognize either Sim. I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted, factory reset it and updated it none of which seems to solve the issue.
I use this phone for gaming so last night to my surprise one of the Sims started working (sim was in for a couple of days) and all connectivity was perfectly fine - I tried putting in my other Sim as well but again the phone wouldn't recognize them anymore. Tried putting in only one card on the Sim 1 slot but it made no difference. I don't understand what the issue could be.
Do you have a converted CN version or did you buy a global version? (just curious, as far as I know only CN -> WW versions faced this issue and I would like to know if this is a coincidence or an issue with these versions. But I could be wrong as well)
Nevertheless I would make use of warranty and send it back to Asus to get it repaired.
Yeah it's CN version > WW ROM. It's absurd how randomly it was hit with this issue. Again, the phone was reading a sim card perfectly fine out of the blue last night, then when I took out the Sim tray to insert another card, went back to square one and wouldn't recognize either.
I know.. If you had searched this forum or the rog reddit you would have noticed there are multiple topics like yours and all people explained the very same. Seems totally random.. sometimes it works, sometimes not. Unfortunately no one was ever able to post an accurate answer of why this is the case or how to fix it. At least there is none here, on reddit or the zentalk forums.
Since all device so far were CN -> WW version I don't know any successful case. Asus mostly rejects the support and redirects people to their sellers but those mostly refuse to do something. (they probably know that issue and it's cheaper to do nothing)
I wish you best of luck. Maybe you could try to contact Asus and report the outcome so we finally have a documented successful repair.
Edit: as said, that's only my knowledge, maybe there is a fix and someone found a way but they either didn't publish it or they posted it in a not so well known forum.
I wonder if the connections that touch the SIM are poorly designed. If it is such a widespread issue that randomly seems to come and go, it could be similar to the issue I had with the Kunai 3.
The pins on the side are designed to give a little when sliding the controller off and on the mount or charger. After moving them between the mount and charger twice, some pins fell off and others never popped back into place so they could make a connection. It turns out they never secured the pins well enough to handle it.
Hello, I had a similar issue.
My sim-cards wouldnt be recognized, sometimes only one of them, sometimes both. Additionally, my fingerprint-sensor wasnt working too. By checking pictures of a disassembled phone I could locate the problem inside. It has a connector on the lower end of the phone, which is for sim and FP-sensor. I can definitely and easily come loose.
Quick and dirty fix for me, was pressing with controlled but quite some force on the lower end of the LED-Rog logo while the phone laying flat on the table. I used my thumb, pushed and restarted the phone to check. Didnt work, pushed a bit harder and restarted again until it worked. The back glass has some flex to it, to make it possible to push the connector back in. Still, be careful to not break it, if you try it yourself.
When I found that solution, I've sent it in on warranty for proper fixing with this Information to ASUS. They replaced allegedly the mainboard. But I actually think, they just fixed the connector in place, because bending the phone to a certain degree "unfixed" it in my case again. I dont know, if its the same issue you have, but if it is, hope it helps everyone.

Good tip and glad it worked - this could help a few out there. Perhaps ASUS should have included some instructions explaining how to press/bend the device back in order when it happens ...
I had the same issue and quickly found a fix. I bought a OnePlus 9 Pro and relegated this glitchy piece of junk to my desk drawer. Good riddance.

Paying over $2,000 for a OnePlus 9 Pro seems like an expensive solution, but I am glad it worked out for you. Best of luck over there.

Works like a charm here! Congratz!
Omg worked here too, now I have a Poco F3 AND a revived ROG Phone 5...
.
You are the mvp. I love this phone and using it for almost a year. Suddenly sim no longer detected. I tried everything, unlocked bootloader, update firmware. Hour and hours of trying to revive it. I even called Asus and they said to call the Chinese warranty support. Then finally came across this thread. Pressed down hard on the lower end of the logo of the phone on its back. Restarted and now it's detecting the sim again. Thank you so much
