[Q] HELP!! t mobile galaxy s2 bricked and NOTHING is working - General Questions and Answers

i've tried everything and pressed every combination of buttons forever. please just post anything you can think of to help me thanks

I don't mess with samsungs much, but if you search there is a program to reset the phone in this situation.

i tried the one-click unbricking tool but it can't detect my phone cause i can't cause it to get into download mode.

Joshbro, did you get to this situation by attempting to root, mod a little prematurely?
I use a Galaxy Ace, and completely - all but absolutely - bricked my phone in December, and had to return it for a new one.
The reason was because I rooted my phone - a harmless action - but tried modding it, without enough insight as to potential problems.
The biggest problem for Galaxy Ace users, as I read, was installing and then using ROM Manager.
All I did was use the Back Up option, and when it went to restart, it didn't. Ever.
I learned a lot the following few hours, most of which didn't stick because I was in panic mode.
But essentially, I went through Oden, Kies, etc. I connected the phone, and eventually, when holding the Power, Home and Volume Down button, I saw a faint glimpse of hope.
Unfortunately, that's where the hope stopped.
I liken it to CPR.
My phone was dead, but there was a faint pulse. Upon attempting mouth to mouth, all I was greeted with was barf in the mouth.
So, you could be screwed.
Unless someone has another idea.
How'd you get to this point?

lol. nice example and yah i tried to get a mod that would turn my home buttons into led notifications for texts and stuff.

I bricked my s2 mistenly flashing NOTE ROM!!!
After many attempts I downloaded kies update and drivers. I then connected my sg pressed power volume home key for a while. then i heard a sound and drivers been installed on my pc. flashed rom via odin and what do you the screen come on and its working.

nice

mind you have lost download mode to flash rom etc..

[Q] No download mode fix for bricks since JH7?

I haven't seen any threads relating to bricking since the JH7, so I'm thinking that the 'tried and true' other ways to get into download mode no longer work (or that trying to go to Froyo erased the part of my phone that has the download mode or something?)
In any event, tried the "How to unbrick the totally bricked Captivate" thread to no avail, and many other ways. I see a thread in Q&A about this from someone else too.
Are there any post-JH7 threads I'm missing where the method to get into download mode when it gives the evil phone =/= pc screen as soon as you do the 2 or 3 button fix?
plug in the usb while holding the volume up and down buttons.
no dice. I think this hosed it good. I've got an RMA to Samsung so I'm going to send it back to them to fix. Lesson learned to not expect something to work on the 10th time like it did the 9 times before when it comes to Android.

Doesn't work... for unlucky folks with the 3 button duds, at least.
Have you tried getting it into download mode using ADB?

[Q] G2X Stuck at Boot Screen - Brick?

Hello all,
I have an LG G2X P999. I got this phone two days ago, and tried to root it. After watching some videos, I realized the phone was already rooted- Because it had the superuser icon in the menu, as I saw in videos.
Moving along, I downloaded ROM Manager. I flashed CWM and then tried to install the latest stable version of Cyanogen Mod.
After restarting the phone from CWM, it gets stuck at the Second LG Bootscreen.
When I hold the power button + Vol Dwn button, I see the android and the arrow. I realize now, that means CWM isnt really installed.
However, that doesnt help with the issue at hand- I cannot bypass the Second boot screen.
No matter how long I leave it, or any of the methods I try.
I have downloaded the NvFlash package, which contains the program + the apx drivers. However, I am unable to install the drivers, as my laptop wont detect the phone.
I have removed the battery, held both volume buttons and plugged in the USB. Nothing happens.
The computer does not detect the device. Different ports, Different cables, even tried a different laptop. Nothing.
I have done as much research as I can, and all the tutorials have me confident that I know what to do AFTER the device is detected.
But I cannot find any resource, that advises me what to do if the device doesn't even get detected :crying::crying::crying:
Ive read link after link, that has led me back to links that I have already checked.
The only thing I have not done, is ask for help. This is why I am now here.
Please, may I have some assistance. I am at my wits end.
:crying:
:crying::crying::crying:
:crying:
So the only way the phone detects the device, is by putting the battery in - Then holding the power + volume down buttons till it reaches the second LG logo.
Which is where the device freezes. It doesnt pass this boot screen.
It detects it as Unknown Device. Not APX
Also, the phone can charge with the USB. The laptop doesnt detect it while charging.
So I got the phone to go into APX mode.
I did this by having the battery IN the phone.
Plugging the phone IN the laptop.
Holding the power + VOL down buttons. It reset the phone, then went to the second LG boot screen.
I then held the VOL buttons + Power button. Then the laptop detected the device, and APX showed up in Device Manager.
__________
After doing that, I opened NVFlash, and clicked "Flash CWM 5.0.2.0 Internal and Exernal ....."
The process ws successful and then the phone went to "S/W Upgrade Please wait."
I do not know WHO said the battery NEEDS to be out or WHY they said that, but those instructions are NOT ACCURATE.
The battery does not NEED to be taken out to do this process, I have now gotten my G2x into CWM using NVFLASH, WITH the battery IN the phone.
This little detail has caused heartache to many G2X owners, including myself.
I have the remedy, my friends!! Leave the battery IN the phone!! It WILL WORK!!
Someone please make this a sticky, OR add these instructions to the original NVFlash Method.
The public needs to know.
I hope my journey will help many others, peace and love to you all.
You are incorrect. But whatever...

My friend, what I have posted are the steps I took to get my g2x working; That is what worked for me, fact.
I am now running weapon g2x 3.0_R1; flawlessly, might I add. Praise to the developers.
I'm sorry you felt your disapproving opinion was necessary.

This is what you said and is incorrect.
This has worked for me and countless others and a statement like this can throw off a new user. Occasionally, directions will need to be altered and most often when they do it is due to operator error resulting in straying away from said original directions.
You should not state that these directions are "not accurate" , but rather should state something along the lines of "I ran into problems and got it to work trying this way, just an idea if someone else gets stuck."
But the original directions work correctly.
But it's cool man, I've only been modding this phone for a year now. Your solid 3 days of ownership have far surpassed that.

I got stuck in that same boot loop following some video on YouTube just this past weekend! ha-ha...
Glad I'm not the only one
Nvflash worked flawless with for me with battery out

Phone wont turn on help!!

Hey guys. I'd really appreciate your help. So this is how the story goes. Im pretty well versed in flashing ROMS. I flashed the CM10 Rom, don't remember the exact name, but it's the one where u can download a bunch of themes. Anyway the wifi kept coming on and off so I decided to try another ROM. I went into recovery mode and flashed the MIUI vs OTTER ROM, I think thats the name, I'm pretty sure . Just as the flashing finishes the phone turns off and BAM!! The problems start so basically phone wont come on now. I don't get the vibration before it starts, so I figured Id root back to stock and start all over...(Odin..PIT etc.) So this is what happens. The computer makes the noise that indicates something's been plugged in and then immediately it makes the same noise as if somethings been unplugged (phone is still plugged in though) Screen is completely blank still and a message comes up (ON PC) to install new software on ( the phone). The software or Device that registers as the phone in device manager is Qualcomm CDMA technologies MSM. Any help would be appreciated. And yes I did the whole wipe factory/dalvik etc. right before flashing the MIUI ROM. The computer says I need to flash drive F to be able to use it (which I figure is the phone, and flashing would erase everything right?) but as I try to do that it denies me permission because th phone is apparently coming in and out, or on and off.
Have you tried a jig? Do a quick Google search "Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G Jig" . It'll get you into download mode and allow you to flash through Odin back to stock, I believe.

I've tried everything including:
Taking battery out for extended periods.
Trying to hold volume up button and power/vice versa with both and volume down, whilst running odin to see if Added" pops up on odin so that I can root to stock and start over."
Every time i plug the phone into PC you hear the plug and unplu sounds as if the phone is continuesly turning off and on but nothing on the screen. Im not even getting the vibration.
I had a similar issue on my phone recently. It was incredibly frustrating so I just left it on the charger. When I came back 30 minutes later, it was on and charging.

I think it is hard bricked.
Did you try download mode? I thought mine was hard-bricked, but I was able to go into download mode.
Wow, same thing here!

I have almost the EXACT same problem. BUT, I do have a jig that I know that works...and it doesn't bring me to Download Mode. :crying:
No button combos work...download or recovery, I don't even know if it is charging...had it on the charger for about 30 mins so far.
(It says exactly:
You need to format the disk in drive G: before you can use it.
Do you want to format it?
<Format disk> <Cancel>
I of course press cancel
With a battery or without a battery, when I connect to the computer it installs the drivers as stated above but it continues to ask if I want to format it. If I leave it plugged up, the popup continues almost endlessly. I've not yet press FORMAT, as I would think that could make it worse than it is.
Has anyone seen this type of problem?
*EDIT: I'm sending it out on Monday to get it JTAGed, too expense and complex to even think about trying to get a box and attempting the fix myself.
I was basically told that the Boot portion (whatever it's exactly called) needs to be re-written and then probably just flash stock firmware on it.
Just wanted to leave this here to help others search and find this info...just in case they attempt to try to do more than they should and really mess their phone up even more.

Galaxy S3 power button not working..what do I do?

Hey all..
I have a problem. My power button has stopped working at all on my Verizon S3. Earlier this week, it was being very finicky, eg it would randomly be registering clicks when it wasn't being pressed. Now, however, it isn't responding whatsoever.
Obviously I'm terrified to shut down the device, but before I make a warranty claim I'll need to do an ODIN restore to stock (I am currently running CyanogenMod 10.2). How can I do this without having to use the power button at some point?
Thanks in advance!

Mobile Odin would work. You might not be able to verify it worked after the install though.
Search for topics in this section, there's a lot of topics on this already and good suggestions on it.

Power button issue

Hey my power button is acting very weird even the slightest touch locks or unlocks the screen or even brings up the power menu. The button itself doesn't appear stuck and and it makes a click when I fully press it. Anyone know how to fix this?

This has happened to several people recently. Mine was still under warranty, verizon sent me replacement
Mine was doing it on kitkat, in recovery, and on stock rom
Try this. Worked for me after a weekend of dealing with power button issues.
power button problems/Hardware failure?
so i think i got my phone around october of 2012 and i recently hate it! i loved it..i dropped and broke my first one..clumsy me..but it was innevitable..it worked great..then it was stolen got a replacement..phone i have now..i rooted it was careful about device specific blah blah and i had already fixed a hard brick im not stupid...but then my phone started acting super weird..the screen shut down when it tried working it would be dark green and fuzzy...a weekend later i pulled the sim and out it back in.. (for no reason) .. and my screen worked but my power button didnt work any more my screen wont stay asleep and my power menu continually pops up and it reboots (never completely)...like the power button would be jammed...any help idk if i can still get the root off and use triangle away cause my phone doesnt hardly stay working and when in C.W.M it selects random options usually reboot phone (first option)...is my warranty void will they replace my phone again even rooted...it is a hardware not software failure?
btw
using sch-i535 verizon galaxy s3, d2vzw, runnin pac-man jb 4.3.1 <----wasant when this first happened i restored a backup i was running cm 10.2 (jb 4.2.2)
i loved my galaxy s3 please help me love it again
I've had this problem as well but haven't found a solution yet, I'm going to try smashing it on a table like the above video suggests and see what happens
the weirdest part for me is when I odin back to stock the button works perfectly, like brand new, and then I clean flash any rom (4.2.x & 4.3) and it gradually starts messing up again, usually takes about 4-5 days for it to get to the point where I can't even boot to recovery/download.. luckily using the stock samsung cable allows me to enter and stay in download mode to odin back to stock.. rinse and repeat
LoL yeah here's the fix "smash your phone on the ground, but wait, if it doesn't work just do it harder"
That's the best thing I have ever seen.....
This has happened to me twice now.....I just take the button off and make a widget on my homescreen to lock the phone.... LoL LoL LoL this advice is too funny
"yeah dog just run over your phone wit a forklift, problems will be solved yo."
