[Q] go contacts help - General Questions and Answers

My go contact app continuously list the same number multiple times within each contact. Extremely annoying when trying to message or call anyone and a popup window showing three nearly identical numbers, asks you which number you want to send it to. I tried to contact the go dev team but found their forum to be completely in Japanese. So I'm turning to XDA who has never let me down. Under my stock contact app the contacts are correct, listing every number only once. Let me show you what I'm talking about.

This is not an isolated contact issue. It repeats in almost every contact. The only difference between affected contacts and non-affected is non-affected contacts were never entered into my phone. Those contacts are only listed on Facebook. So my theory is that it is adding duplicate numbers depending on how many accounts are linked to that contact, ie Facebook, Skype, Voxer and of course my phone book itself. Is there any know app or editor or something that can help me eliminate this extremely frustrating issue, shy of going into each individual contact and editing them one by one?

What is the deal here?
Below is a ddms of what happens when I click log in. (And yes, I am using the correct password.) What the hell is this stupid SNG error?
I got one of these message when I first tried it, but after I uninstall and reinstall, it miraculously work. However after a few days I have decide to remove from my phone, since it is not that great as I have thought. It logs out of my account and forget about my account details everytime I power on/off my phone and since I asked it to intergrate with my contacts it transfers some of my contact's facebook profile picture as my contact's picture, I am fine with that until when I power on/off, all the data is gone and it will be up again taking a long time syncing back everything again.
After a few days, I just got tired of logging in every reboot and re-sync and decide to remove it.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and that didn't help.
I think I'm just going to uninstall for good. Way too buggy.
If anyone knows of a permanent fix, or an updated version, feel free to post; I still have this thread as a subscription.

[Q] messaging = auto select contact when typing name?

when i open a new text message, i start to type the name of the contact i want to send a message to - but no contacts are avaliable to select.
i now have to add a contact manually.
how to get auto add contact when i start to type their name?
cheers!
Rn
On the stock messaging app I don't think this is possible. You have to create a contact first, or just enter the phone number into the address field.
Not sure about the messaging apps for HTC sense and other UIs. They may allow you to create a contact from within the app.
Q.
Are you using the stock keyboard?
I had the exact same issue when using fingerkeyboard and swype.
Had a few ROMs (Older admittedly) that didn't support this too but that's beyond my comprehension i'm sorry.
hi, sorry for not getting back to you untill now
(i forgot about this thread lol)
as you can see i am using EzInput v2.5
by typing R, it should display a list of all contacts starting with R. (in a drop-down menu where R is)

Dialer doesn't show contact picture

Hi,
On the dialer does not show the contact image when I start an outgoing or receive an incoming call. I have managed to fixed this before but I have upgraded to emui 3 and it does not working again. I have forgot what I did.
I can see the contact pictures within contact. I tried changing the picture and re-installing the google contact sync but none of them fixed the issue.
It is not a major problem I can use the phone without the pictures but it would be a nice feature if I could fix it. Any help or suggestion will be appreciated.
Hi
I think I did not explain this well cause no one answered.
So I did setup a contact picture on one of my contact and when I call the contact the picture does not displayed.
I have tried to delete all my contacts and re-import them, my google contacts all synced and I can see the same picture on google.
I have added 2 screenshots and highlighted the issue. Any advise or suggestion will be appreciated.

Same thing happens to me. Picturs show in Contacts, but not in stock Mesasaging or Dialer. I have Kit Kat
I experience the same issue on EMUI 4.1 (Huawei P9) but only for the contacts that have whatsapp account. I guess there is a conflict between whatsapp and contacts but I didn't find a solution yet

Spyware?

Hello everyone.
I'm on a Motorola G6 plus, Android 9. There is this function, I am not sure if it's carrier based. Phone numbers that are not in my contacts, that call me or I call myself, often show names. For example, I never called number 555 1234, but when I do, it will say "Irish Harp pub", and usually the names are correct. Recently I called a cab service and it gave me the name for a completely different business (that I researched has a completely different number) and I was quite irritated. I was wondering about that function and if it has a certain name so I can do more research, I was already worried, if there is some sort of spyware on the phone, that listened in to my call, by taking it and then redirecting it to the number I originally dialed, but only after (accidently) showing the actual name of the number it was redirected to first.
Cheers
B.
I don't think it is some spyware. Maybe you have enabled a feature 'Online Yellow Pages'.
In addition to contacts you created, in 'Yellow Pages' there are some contacts maintained by your device manufacturer or your carrier.

Sound like Google malarkey. It's an app doing it.
It seems to have a lot of permissions...
One of the reasons I disabled all carrier bloatware except messages on my AT&T 10+

Mysterious contacts

Google contacts app shows some contacts that don't belong to any account, but I don't see any way of knowing which ones these are. I can tell they exist because the count for "All contacts" is greater than the sum of contacts in the accounts. How can I isolate the contacts without an associated account?
Update: Should have mentioned I'm using Nextcloud + DAVx⁵
My guess is you have some contacts split up over more than 1 entry. Like contact 1 John Doe with only his email address and another John Doe with his phone number. These two are merged in your contacts app, but not in the Google account. I think you should be able to see and change that when you check them at contacts.googlr.com.
They aren't at contacts.google.com.
I'm using Nextcloud + DAVx⁵

You should have given that information in your opening post.
But then check your Nextcloud contacts. For some some contacts tend to duplicate themselves. I have 1 Nextcloud contact that currently has 13(!) identical entries. I have not found a way yet to avoid that.
Most of my contacts on NextCloud had single duplicates, with a message "this contact was broken and received a fix", whatever that means. Most is greater than exactly 4, so not sure what to make of this.
I remember there being duplicates as well when I was using contacts.google.com.
