I would like a bare ROM with No Blur and fast as Hell..... (Oh and has to be able to keep the same battery life.)
If your asking.

At the moment there is only one functional ROM availble for the A2. It is a blur-based ROM called "Supercharged Atrix" made by one of our devs, lfaber06.
However jimbridgman is working hard on CM7, and lfaber is also working hard at updating the ROM with 2.3.6 and working out some other bugs/adding new features.
Both of the devs are really busy at the moment but they are trying their hardest to pump out some ROMs and other hacks.
If you do want to try a custom ROM then go ahead and try Supercharged (v4 currently). It is definitely faster and lighter, and you can overclock it.

We have been using safestrap instead of 2nd init, but, our other dev lfaber06 has been playing with 2nd init, and using it.... as for safestrap we both have our own modified copies that hashcode has not fully authorized for us to share. There is a copy that was authorized by him in the dev section that lfaber06 posted, but since he and I have been so busy it is not working well right now. If you want a working copy for the atrix 2, I can PM a link for you to grab it, but you CAN'T share it with the world, since it s my own modified version for the atrix2.
If you want to help with dev work, just PM lfaber06 and I so we are all not stepping on each others toes and wasting our time all working on the same things. He and I have split up the tasks pretty well, but we are swamped.

the thing you gotta ask yourself like the others are saying is what do you want your rom to have. you want a theme feel to it or do you wanna keep it looking stock. also gotta figure if you wanna add some tweaks or not. there's a lot you gotta figure out before you make a rom. also, you gotta know a lot about what does what when tweaking and all that. i was also thinking about doing some roms myself, but then decided against cause i for one don't have the time nor do i have the patience the devs here have. you also gotta remember that there are gonna be people here who want you to change some things about your rom. and not to mention, you gotta have the time to offer support for it as well. if you do decide to go for it, i wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing your work.
well i do want to learn how to tweak the phone and themes and all that good stuff, i recently messaged raver and he gave me a good start, so i will start studying linux and java then ill be back hopefully with enough info to tweak some newer OS leak or if anything help out on another phone ( hopefully it wont be that long) but like i said i want to learn for self knowledge and also to help create some awesome stuff in the XDA
and i do have the time to support and modify roms as needed.
so if anyone has any advice on the best way to learn linux and java faster post post post!!! lol
and ill come back and read between my readings thanks for not being jerks by the way lol
Also i might base my rom on Android 2.1 J/K haha but im off to a good start tonight

if you wanna base a rom on froyo, by all means go for it. you would be surprised how many people still run on froyo here. some are afraid to take the plunge to gingerbread cause its not official yet for our device. go with what you feel is best. personally, i think there should be a dev who still makes roms for froyo for those who don't wanna take the plunge. its all up to you though. good luck with your journey either way though.
your right im on raver's octaine and its cool but a couple days ago i flashed back to Audiophile Redux 1.3.3 and i saw a big difference in radio and wifi strength so i might actually start off with a Froyo rom, but i was just making a joke earlier cus i said 2.1 like an eclair rom lol
sence so many are intrested in this actually didnt think that many would.. after i update my roms maybe before then i dono... Ill make you all a compendium of how to build apps how to modify exzisting roms how to build your own rom aka asop how to port roms theme them etc... Ill also prob ask krylon and whitehawk and any other dev that wants to contribute to this. If anyone does. It doesnt hurt and hey if a few ore devs come out of it so be it .. If anyone ever has a question 99 percent of the time u can ask people i will reply and give u the answer or if i dont know the answer ill direct you to the proper place to look for it
haha aawesome!!! see this is exactly why i only flash Raver roms!!! wooo i went from octaine 1.0 to audiophile redux to octaine 2.x to audiophile x2 back to octaine 2.x haha
If Raver leaves my phones post- SGS4G will all remain stock lol
im also looking into modding nd tweaking roms myself so a guide like the one raver is gonna make would be very helpful. thanks in advance
As the OP can i erase some comments on this post? lol just asking...again!
also one more question im back to Audiophile Redux 1.3.3 would the SGS4G Adrenaline shot v12 work with my Froyo rom?

Looking for testers and developers - MIUI Port!

Hi, I know I haven't contributed much to the community, so I decided to work on something.
I've just finished building a MIUI port for our phone. Testing hasn't been going well. I'm just getting a black screen.
So I was wondering if anybody wanted to help test this or help fix bugs and whatnot. I can't guarantee that this won't brick your phone, sorry.
So... is anybody interested?
Also, this is a post from the General section... I'm just reposting it here.
Here's the link to the (not working) rom so far:
MOD EDIT:
I am sorry, but I will not allow untested roms to be published here.
If you want to develop, release sources, but please do not release an "unteseted rom that might potetially brick your phone"
here is the guide for you guys to build, test, and then release as a work in progress, DO NOT RELEASE UNTESTED VERSION!!
Well woohoo we got ppl working on my favorite rom. Thank YOu sir. Really appreciate your time. And looking forward to hear about how it goes. Good luck
just a suggestion. Put down load link here so mod does not put this thread in general!

I'm using this with the Cobra ROM... It took me hours to get the rom to build at all. xD
Right now, I'm going to try with a more stock-ish rom...
So, if anybody has more experience with this than I do, I'd really appreciate the help.

I was actually just working on this myself, I took the Galnet miui for the galaxy s II and moved alot of the essential libs, modules, ril and camera firmware + the kernel over from our cm7 port but could not get it to boot past a black screen. Maybe I didn't wait long enough, but I'm fairly certain it would not boot. I could upload my attempt if anyone wants to give it a go.

What a bad idea.
The SGS II has nothing in common hardware wise with the SGS II LTE, since the chipsets are different.

haha why in the world would you do that its like exynos vs snapdragon . FIGHT >_<
Not only that, but pushing random libs has had a history of hard bricking this phone...
I'm not "pushing random libs" and also I didnt just take a rom from the SII and cram it down my phones throat. I removed their kernel and took MANY files from our cm7, I'm not aimlessly copy-pasting. I switched out the necessary files to get it to boot, and removed the exynos specific firmware and modules and replaced it with our own qualcomm files. I think part of the reason it didnt boot was I hadn't tried reflashing da g's cm7 kernel, something tells me the zip didn't flash it right. Although it takes way too much trial and error, so I'm thinking of working with the Miui patch rom for a faster port.
---------- Post added at 12:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:27 PM ----------
so unless you can suggest to me a phone that is also made by Samsung and shares the chipset, and has CM7 or miui released for it.. telling me It's a bad idea doesnt help the port very much, If my phone shall be bricked it shall do so for a good cause I appreciate the concern and warning

Yeah, it's probably a better idea to start out with the CM7 alpha build we have here, and work our way to MIUI through something like this. I'll try and help as much as I can, and if you do ever get some logcats, please feel free to post them so we can get an idea of what's going wrong.
Okay. Good, good. Just sounded a bit like you were. Definitely sounds like you know what you're doing then, haha. Trying to steer people away from things we've known to bork our picky phone is all.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
what i can say to you fortune is this no one's gonna be steered away from these projects but you have to understand unless cm7 finishes there is no way miui will progress because stock won't do it for miui, if that was the case id port miui too without my eyes being blinked..lets all work with each other and help each other as much as possible. what i can suggest for devices to look @ i believe are t989 which is somewhat close not alot ..but thats another one to try and see and also samsung epic 4g is another one..
I will work on it for a bit, soon it should be working haha

[ROM] ICS system image from AT&T SGS 3 (SGH-I747) version 4.0.4

Here is the system image from MY SGS 3, I thought one of our other devs might want to turn this into a ROM. I would do it, but I am a little swamped at the moment with after hours android dev work.
If someone has not taken a stab at it by the time I am back in here more "permanently", I will make my attempt at porting it over. You will need to grab a script that they use for CM, to grab the files off of your phone, also here is a good reference on porting as well.

Try kexec, That is how the cyanogenmod team is "dual booting" for testing roms... who cares if it is just one proc for a test boot.... Once you can POC it with a 2.3.6 kernel, then you know you are on the right track, and can do a test flash. The only real issue you might have is that the source seems incomplete to me.
I know this because I tried to compile it and had all kinds of issues with missing pieces. I have successfully compiled two kernels that I am testing on my SGS 3 at the moment (one overclocked, the other under volted).
Just make sure you go and grab the arm-abi tool kit, this is the one I use, from
codesourcery:
http://www.mentor.com/embedded-software/codesourcery
All you need is the light version. It might take some work, but you may be able to merge the ICS kernel code (it is posted as a sticky higher up ^^^) with the MB/ME865 kernel to get what is missing. There are some how-tos out there to do it.

Am I right that is SHOULD boot on a stock ICS kernel, like what came from that leak, if so, I can have someone that is running that test it out, and make sure the system is right, then I can build a kernel to run with kexec until we can get a real update.
I am new to porting and sort of to kernel building so tell me if this process sounds right for this.
1. fix up the gs3 system with our proprietary files -thats easy, I know how to do that
2. have someone that is running an ics kernel test it if possible
3. if that works it means I just need a stock ics kernel to run in kexec, which shouldn't be too hard because we should be able to use the me865 source and modify it to work with mb865. If it does not work, kernel building starts from scratch, which is were I will have to do some more research, and any help from you or others would be helpful.
My other question is how do we even load the new kernel with kexec? wouldn't we need this to boot first, then we can swap the kernel? Or is there a way to load up both at the same time?
I think I will set up a WIP thread for this if you don't mind. feel free to PM me if you don't want to post stuff here.
Thank you so much for all your help, and have fun with your new toy

Yeah I think that is a good start. Take a look at this link, the guys from team epic that do cyanogenmod ports have come up with a way to use kexec to test booting thier kernel and roms. You might PM one of them, I have not gotten to that point yet, plus these guys are working on the Sprint version, of the SGS3, but I am sure they can explain how they are doing this with kexec. These guys are on XDA, I have chatted with them on a couple issues I was having.
http://www.epiccm.org/
Oh, P.S.
Here is how to compile the "stock MB/ME865" kernel:
1. How to Build
- get Toolchain
From android git server , codesourcery and etc ..
- arm-eabi-4.4.3
- edit Makefile
edit "CROSS_COMPILE" to right toolchain path(You downloaded).
EX) CROSS_COMPILE= $(android platform directory you download)/android/prebuilt/linux-x86/toolchain/arm-eabi-4.4.3/bin/arm-eabi-
Ex) CROSS_COMPILE=/usr/local/toolchain/arm-eabi-4.4.3/bin/arm-eabi- // check the location of toolchain
$ export ARCH=arm
$ make m2_att_defconfig
$ make
2. Output files
- Kernel : arch/arm/boot/zImage
- module : drivers/*/*.ko
3. How to Clean
$ make clean
Just make sure the toolkit is pointed to the install of the codesourcery toolkit I linked in the above post.
P.P.S
Your defconfig might be another pointer name, that you will have to find out for sure. You know the one above called m2_att_defconfig.
For the beginners don't try the rom,you might kill your phone!

If/when we get this to work, do you think a JB port won't be too far behind? How big are the differences between stock ICS and JB kernels?

ICS to JB is going to be a much smaller kernel jump, but there will be a HUGE performance increase due to project butter which is now officially part of Jelly Bean.
The key to running something like this is to get a kernel compiled and running with kexec, even though it is just 1 proc, it is a good way to get started. Ports will be much easier if you do some merging of the changed code in newer kernels and do merged kernel. There are instructions for doing a kernel that is merged from 2 sources to get a complete kernel.
Now this will just work for testing and porting, and the actual ICS or JB install from at least a leak will be needed to actually run the port, but you can get ahead of the game by doing what I have mentioned.
Well going to give this a go in a few days doing some maintenance on my computer but will get back with something (hope not a bricked phone) .....
(off topic ranting)
Hate to say it at this rate what getting close to a year since Ics release Jb might just be a pipe dream..... Think I am growing grey hairs waiting for something to give here..... Without bootloader unlock I feel so useless (Yea I could make a recovery image with all the bells and whistles but I got bigger plans).....
Downloaded so I could tinker with some files. Thanks for sharing.

Why not try Filedropper or Mediafire?

I am actually trying to get my recognized developer cert on here and get free premium access to xdafilehost, that all the recognized devs get access to.
We will see if I get it or not. If not I have other options, but things like filedropper will not do, I already looked into it

|TEAM V3ND3TTA| MIUI GB/ICS Hybrid V.1alpha - A Work In Progress

This is Swipers last GB MIUI, modified, still a work in progress. This is open for testers, hence the alpha build, since I need to use my phone today for business today, I can't test myself yet.
Definitely looking for bugs, feedback, etc and I promise, I won't yell at you or laugh at you for posting them. Just remember, I'm a complete amateur at this and am playing it by trial and error and a little advice from my teammates

When are you guys going to fix the superuser issue??
Is like every ROM with you guys.......I mean is NOT that hard to fix!! Here, I'll even help you out.......
You get your SuperSU by chainfire (google it)...you place the apk in system/app
Then you get the su file and place it in system/xbin and BOOM, it works!
EASIEST THING IN THE WORLD AND YOU GUYS CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT?!?! HAHAHAHA

Saying things like what you see above doesn't make it seem like you fixed it :good:
I was only going off what you had in your OP. Didn't you make an entire thread about how people's threads got on your nerves because the OP wasn't updated and this and that? BUT yet you're doing the same exact thing??? HAHAHHAHAHA
Also you said you can take criticism but it seems like you're trying to get me to leave the thread.....COME ON DUDE, if you can't take someone reporting bugs and ACTUALLY providing you with fixes then you're nothing but a hypocrite!
Have to have my phone functional tonight cause my womans in the hospital but tomorrow I'll definitely be flashing this and trying it out. I love MIUI but can't run the ICS version due to needing ffc and netflix (BAH) so this will be great. Thanks Team Vendetta for doing something new with MIUI for the people that love the rom.
and now i know why i quit coming to xda

No prob. What you said is EXACTLY why we're bringing back; Netflix, FFC, etc. Nice to have that stuff working.
This is what I'm talking about, why the hell all the drama!!! How about we we drop it here guys, I don't know what the hell is going on between all these damn teams lately, but you guys fight like damn school kids man. How about you guys pm'ed out between the whole of you, and leave the threads alone with all the bs. We as members like all of your sh*t because most of us can't do it, no matter what TEAM you're from. Keep the drama between yourself man.

Sounds great but I really wish some can just like post a rom that's great fully working no bugs smooth for example Cyanogen mod 7 stable and myns warm two point two. Like if your gonna post a rom then make sure it works and its reasonable for FFC and other stuff not to work on a ics rom because the evo Never got ics with HTC updates and if you need testers ask someone like pm people or try it out on free time I made a mistake posting my rom which isn't a full rom like iI didn't do all the work I just added/remove apps and edited build props and took some stuff other stuff out which I'm not gonna do again until I really know hoe to build from source and or heavily theme roms like cm9 or cm7 and edit 9.PNG correctly and I'm available anytime for testing on the weekends and I wish someone will teach me the correct way to build up roms and edit language codes like Java and C++ or at least set me to the right path
I will be flashing this rom some time

This will get to that. This version is simply a test version and a chance for feedback.
I wish I knew coding from source. I'm trying to learn as I go along with this, since it's ambitious as it is, combining GB & ICS
Ok, if you MUST know, I made simple mistake; copied the newest SU to /system/app/ but forgot to copy the newest SU, Busybox and dexdump over to /xbin/, so there was a compatibility error. Simple as that. An easier fix is to just uninstall SU on anyone that got the first version, reboot, then d/l and install SU.
Since this is my first attempt at doing any type of work on ROM, give me a break, would ya??
Now, back to the topic, please....

2.3.6 VictoryRom -> ?

Hi Guys,
I'm currently on 2.3.6 VictoryRom v1.1 which new ROM has ICS and will give me the best performance?
Will it be as simple as installing from .zip using clockwork?
Thanks for the help!

To use ICS roms you have to upgrade to ICS first.
As for roms, it's all personal opinion what is best. If HDMI/lapdock support isn't essential for you, I would recommend CM10.

Cm10 roms are not stable.you can update to stock pics and root your phone.then pimp it(using pimpmyrom) free in play store.

Uhh..no CM10 is actually really stable. There are a couple really minor bugs left.. but it's Jelly Bean so it's smooth as butter (project butter) and is well worth the tiny bugs.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869692
yeah, cm10 is very stable.. no random reboots or anything for me.. sure it has a few bugs, but nothing to stop you from using it as your daily driver. Actually what keeps making me go back to cm10 is that its so friggin smooth and ofcourse the little customisations you can do and themes..
For the OP, I dunno much about the GB roms, but id recommend both cm10 and and magicmod with performance and customisations in mind and that they are JB based
If you want full functionality, then all the ICS roms are good, just read thru the threads for the ROMs and devs description and screenshots and try the one according to need.. the latest one is numa and the first one is SCV7 which still is one of the best roms for our phone on ICS. If you ask me, you'll know which one to use only after youve flashed enough
Also remember to read the devs description of the ROM and how to flash properly, cause you need to use different recoveries for different ROMs. So better if you read up as much as you can. Do keep a backup of your stock ICS on ur sdcard, (i have like 3 now stock, cm10, numa) but you know how it goes, since youre already on a ROM..
Mostly youre gonna love your phone more after you get on ICS and flash one of the ICS and JB roms. Happy flashing !
EDIT: i missed it, but better if you post questions in the Q&A thread..
Thanks for the reply. I'll try CM10.
When installing ICS, will all I need to do is install .zip Blur_Version.55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US.zip? for ICS leak#1 or will I have to downgrade first?

anyway from my side a BIG THANK YOU to you and Jim.. for putting so much work on this tread.
I loved Victory Rom. I'm sad to hear there wont be another one for my A2
