Thanks ThiaZ It comes late better than not coming.
First impression:
- Better camera quality in FHD 2D video recording (No chopping like in v21a).
- Better signal strength inside the house (Lets hope there is no ghost calls).

Will "appreciate" that.
I think we will get the root soon since today a new explicit has been found that made rooting process for new firmwares for motorola devices possible (They have been waiting since a month to get this root today).

As usual, either using kdz method or officially using LG Update Tool. Just in case, do all wipes to avoid problems since you are coming from a custom Rom.

Make sure you do a full wipe, format internal sd and phone factory reset once you update, Once I have done that the ghost call problem has been resolved.

RTL=Right To Left
means that languages which letters and words written from right to left(like Arabic) are supported so the Arabic words...for example appear in their right order and shape....since for example English languages words is written from right to left...
hope that makes sense to you

With me, ghost call still there. But it seem not frequently.

Beautiful widget & Fancy Widget also in reverse in Arabic as well. The app developer may should be noticed to force English in the app.
** Somebody confirmed for me that this Rom also has Ghost Call as all other GB Roms coming from LG! Damn.

in hebrew the Calculator is in revers to . in arabic work fine like the
Alarm clock.
i preferd the versions without rtl...

with a locked bootloader, any customization of partitions or kernel is not an option. although some think that the kexec solution is good, its still not working with radio enabled, so who wants a phone without phone functions.
Alright, since people obviously want to put their own ideas out there for this, and since I feel dexter shouldn't be bugged right now, I've decided to open this thread as an idea list, just for suggestion, and depending on how well dexters success is with this phone, maybe we can cook up something good.
I'll start of by saying I feel that porting cyanogen mod would be the best thing we can do, and to stay away from blur, it eats ram like candy, and we already have a ram problem xD
I say no against CM. Let's get 2.2 first and then see if we can get more roms, like 2.3 for example. And Blur shouldn't be on the priority list, but at least on the list as a spinoff. Dexter has done a few roms for the Milestone 1 too, including 1 with Blur as a spinoff.
perfectly working notification lights, better camera app.
the rest of the wishlist is already inside 2.2. So, I'd leave Dexter alone

I think with the locked bootlaoder you need a Motorola signed kernel so I'm not sure how realistic a gingerbread port will be.

[FIX] Wifi dropping on Gingerbread Sense ROMs

Removed. snq- will provide a new fix soon that should be more kosher than my workaround. Looks like the proper fix needs to be built into kernels.
gtg465x said:
A lot of people have been asking me for this so hopefully this will satisfy everyone.
If you don't already know, HTC programmed their Gingerbread ROMs to drop wifi connections if the signal falls below -88dBm. I'm not sure why they did that because -88dBm is a perfectly usable signal. With this fix, your wifi connection won't drop until the signal falls below -108dBm.
Select the correct version for your ROM and flash through Clockwork Recovery.
If you appreciate my work, donations of any amount are very much appreciated.

I noticed it immediately when I first flashed a Gingerbread Sense ROM a few weeks ago. My router is in my basement so wifi was practically unusable in some areas of my house. I spent a whole day researching, looking through code, and trying everything under the sun (including changing settings on my router lol) just to get this fixed. I've actually had the fix for a couple weeks now but just recently realized that all Gingerbread Sense ROMs have the issue.

[Q] HD2 using MIUI 1.7.8 and no Smilies!!

Hello,
I'm using the newest Version of [10 JUL 11]PATs JW MIUI Sense like v1.7.8 v2 Multilanguage[MAGLDR/cLK]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138088
I'm very pleased with this ROM but since 1.7.8 v1
there are no more Smielies available at the Keyboard during writting a SMS.
Also the old SMS shows no Smilies anymore.
How can I get back the funy Android-Smilies?
Thanks for your help.

this should have been asked in the ROM's thread. But if the developer notices this I think it will be fixed for sure

really? then let's chat about it, of course ontopic
did you look at the thread and searched for similiar posts? and is there a big change compared to an older release?
EDIT: there is a v2 of the release. did you try it?
Yes, really!
Yes I have searched, but nothing found.
I'm using the V2 and I thought the problem will be solved by the MMS fix.
The App has changed in the ROM. The Style is different to the last one with Smilies in V 1.7.1 V3.
Maybe it will be solved in next release!
Thanx for your help.
Regards
NattyGuy
P.S.: I have followed your advice, and took 2 others posts direct into the HD2 Q/A Thread.

This is due to the sense keyboard I believe. Have you tried switching to the android keyboard?
Edit: Nope this didn't work either
I will look into this issue and see what i can do about it. Somehow i think this has to do with the MMS fix that has been added to the 1.7.8 releases or something missing in the language package. Will get back to you

Hi,
yes the battery drain seams to be be higher, as before.
"Mobilifunk-standby" has 25% in my case.
But I think the battery drain is a general problem in all ROMs.
Have you down loaded the "smart keyboard" from market?
Have found this keyboard at market.
Are smilies included???
Sorry, but at home in the evening I have no time for PC stuff,
so I only check my Threads or have I short look during the day.

Hey!

yes...i think its a paid version...u can also change the skin...use an iphone, galaxy, htc or custom skin
One thing is to press the "enter"-button a while...then u can choose some smilies AND u also can write your own smilies like ""^^"" in my case
I have MIUI 1.7.15 and had 1.7.8. Best rom if you looking for no lag, but having issues with 3g network connection and finding the GPS is very slow on it. Two major issues for me.
yes right!
its one of the best roms!!!
Connection between sense and miui is just...WOW!
Sense and fast
GPS is fast...in my case...u need to use a-gps works great!
Its just one thing about that rom, that i dont like..its just my battery drain, if i use 3g or 2g...in short: if i need internet without wifi...
thnx for the suggestion, ill try a-gps and see if that helps, other roms i don't have the problem, any Ideas how to get the mobile browser working in 3G? Of all the browser's out there only Firefox for me will work on MIUI 3G without wifi. Earlier versions of MIUI didn't have any network problems on 3g.

I hope this issue will be solved in future.

[Q] Runnymede or VoidU? - Decsions Decisions

Still trying to decide which daily ROM to go with, Having used LBC for months, amazingly impressed with the two superb ports below:
[ROM][18 SEP 11] VoidU S v1.1 (Android 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0) [GPS Fixed!]
or
[ROM][19 SEP 11]RCMix3d Runny S v1.3 [Official runnymede sense 3.5 Android 2.3.5]
Both appear to have have minimal bugs and look great.
I'm finding VoidU has great battery life and is very slick (sense 3.0) well tweaked, is perfectly sized.
I love the RCMix3d Tweak application within settings which both ROMS have which allows you to tailor the look and feel to suit.
Runnymede is slightly slower can has kernel so that can be slightly overclocked if needed - although against that for battery reasons. The chinnese writing issue on phone call screen - has a fix in the thread. Slightly inconsistent menu sizing in places, but that can be lived with. Whats the battery life like (as I've used this ROM less).
Love to hear your thoughts, feelings and comments, do you agree or dis-agree with my comments or have anything useful to add, list of buigs that I'm not aware of would be good. Ehats your experiences of the ROMs battery life, both screen off (as phone) and screen off heavy smart phone usage.
I'm useless at making decisiosn! so any help you can give would be very much appreciated, even if its to say I'm in exactly the same boat!
EDIT: Gone with VoidU v1.1a (this week anyway!)
What a coincidence. I downloaded both the ROMS you mentioned and I too am in confusion about flashing which one.
I think Runnymede has bugs like bluetooth not working and battery , speed not good.
So currently go for Void U.
Would you help me telling the difference b/w virtuous 2.37 and void u
Void u s has Bluetooth problems too :/
I have ... Looking for a fix

Go for VoidU S. 3.5 isn't official yet, so it still has loads of bugs. You may aswell enjoy the full 3.0 now, then when the new official 3.5 comes out, use that.
Because If you use 3.5 now, by the time the official updates comes, the suprise will be spoilt , as you have already used it!
Then the new experience won't be exciting ! Also like you say, the sizing etc isn't perfect. I wouldn't use it now if I were you.
This is just simply my idea.. its up to you!
I really really like this VoidU S. But the few bugs are pissing me off! Hope these will be fixed soon, or I will have to change roms back

Indeed, although I have managed to send a file from my device to another using BT (but that didn't seem too easy but as I explained that was probably because I was p1issed) but nothing else and don't have any other BT devices (keyboard/ear pieces) to test with. So I'd say it works.

Nice! I'm yet to watch the highlights later!
So did you flash the new VoidU S ROM v1.1a yet and decide to keep it? Or decided with RunnyMede?

Just this minute flashed v1.1a assuming that there's no issues then VoidU is the keeper for me (for now anyway)
What kernel are you are on Unity v9? or Stock?

Stock no need in overcloclking, thi Rom is already fast!
You?
Did you do a full wipe , or flash over the old version?

Ended up doing it twice as ROM flash v1.1a rebooted and I hadn't wiped cache or dalvik cahe. So had to "adb reboot recovery" and then followed your instructions.....which was to wipe both and then install. No data loss flashed over the old version.
Contemplating running a custom kernel so that I could try to under clock and under volt (to save even more battery) as you say doesn't need over clocking - fast enough stock.

Ah, cache wipe isn't always necessary, but helpful
Same I wanted to use unity 9, but it doesn't have 1024mhz default frequency... Always been interested,, what's undervolting, and how can I do it?

You're right it doesn't have the stock frequency (which seems strange to me also), although I'm looking at as a good thing as I'm now running my super fast device on a speed slower than the normal stock and it still runs faster as a result of all the additional tweaks and optimisations.
I'm also able to under-clock the CPU so that it runs on a slower speed when idle and when with screen off. I'm also under-volting the CPU so that less voltage is used (although never done this before - so there is a learning curve).
All of these changes should result in less battery usage - although how much less I've yet to establish!

Nope. does not work
If stuff still doesn't work, why call it stable?

Because it *is* stable, and 3D + HDMI is not important enough to warrant the final version being delayed since CM can't do squat about it anyway.

Yeah stable just means they've worked on all the bug reports. So as far as they're concerned everything works as it should

not yet. and another question, HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO LET ALL YOUR PHONES TO BE STOLEN?
CM7 at last check was not based on V21E so although stable to use as a daily driver, it still had Ghost Calls...
CM7 was great but just couldnt put up with GC. Also, no 3d is still bummer...
battery life is a disgrace, absolutely terrible

It's based on v21A but it has the kernel patches which should reduce or entirely eradicate ghost calls.

Really? The stable version seems to have far better battery life than the nightlies so far.

3d is important and it is not true that they can't do anything about it. They just dont WANT to do anything about it cause the real 3d framework is copyrighted material and they dont want to get into legal trouble with lg. So they simply won't do anything to implement that. Other than that panda is right they fixed everything that ought to have been fixed so the rom works as it should and thus stable. Btw did any dev ever try to implement the real3d framework on a non lg based rom? How hard could it be to rip it and implement it on let's say CM?

Well I guess it isnt a fuss if you havent been the victim of Ghost calls.....but think of it this way... you get 4 calls a day and 10 sms messages. you only receive 2 calls, and 5 sms messages and the rest, you dont even know happened.
Its enough to drive you insane if you have had it. you're constantly wondering if you've missed important calls or messages.
The last cm7 ROM i used still had GC, so was not for me. And also, appreciate the 3d features alot more now...in particular with the 3d converter.

Great call Jimakos....a 3rd party 3d platform would be fantastic for users. Always lamented that the 3d aspect cannot be used in regular menus and screens/app drawers etc. (we'll forget what this will do to battery life for now)
Guess it hasnt been ripped to a 3rd party ROM as 3d on mobile devices is not very widespread...no mass volume.
Great idea though...
does roaming decrease bettery life?
