Still trying to decide which daily ROM to go with, Having used LBC for months, amazingly impressed with the two superb ports below:
[ROM][18 SEP 11] VoidU S v1.1 (Android 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0) [GPS Fixed!]
or
[ROM][19 SEP 11]RCMix3d Runny S v1.3 [Official runnymede sense 3.5 Android 2.3.5]
Both appear to have have minimal bugs and look great.
I'm finding VoidU has great battery life and is very slick (sense 3.0) well tweaked, is perfectly sized.
I love the RCMix3d Tweak application within settings which both ROMS have which allows you to tailor the look and feel to suit.
Runnymede is slightly slower can has kernel so that can be slightly overclocked if needed - although against that for battery reasons. The chinnese writing issue on phone call screen - has a fix in the thread. Slightly inconsistent menu sizing in places, but that can be lived with. Whats the battery life like (as I've used this ROM less).
Love to hear your thoughts, feelings and comments, do you agree or dis-agree with my comments or have anything useful to add, list of buigs that I'm not aware of would be good. Ehats your experiences of the ROMs battery life, both screen off (as phone) and screen off heavy smart phone usage.
I'm useless at making decisiosn! so any help you can give would be very much appreciated, even if its to say I'm in exactly the same boat!
EDIT: Gone with VoidU v1.1a (this week anyway!)
What a coincidence. I downloaded both the ROMS you mentioned and I too am in confusion about flashing which one.
I think Runnymede has bugs like bluetooth not working and battery , speed not good.
So currently go for Void U.
Would you help me telling the difference b/w virtuous 2.37 and void u
Void u s has Bluetooth problems too :/
I have ... Looking for a fix
Thanks for those that have put some input back, but slightly disappointed after all the input
that I put in to this forum this is all the response to a fairly simple Queston that I get back

Go for VoidU S. 3.5 isn't official yet, so it still has loads of bugs. You may aswell enjoy the full 3.0 now, then when the new official 3.5 comes out, use that.
Because If you use 3.5 now, by the time the official updates comes, the suprise will be spoilt , as you have already used it!
Then the new experience won't be exciting ! Also like you say, the sizing etc isn't perfect. I wouldn't use it now if I were you.
This is just simply my idea.. its up to you!
I really really like this VoidU S. But the few bugs are pissing me off! Hope these will be fixed soon, or I will have to change roms back

Trying VoidU as of yesterday evening and like it so far .Sense 3 is really smooth the extra tweaks are handy too.
Haven't noticed the gps bug yet as haven't been out to try it and as I don't use blue-tooth that bug will never be an issue for me
i thank you
Looks like it's VoidU as my favourite at the moment!

GPS Issue is fized by ZIP you'll find in post#1 of the VoidU thread, although recommend downloading and running the free application Faster Fix from market and setting to UK - improves GPS fis speed massively.

True, but wouldn't you like to have the feature though, so the roms fully working?
I'm just quite curious to how some people managed to have it working though.. maybe they just saw the icon when they switched BT on, and assumed it was working (they didn't do any test)

Indeed, although I have managed to send a file from my device to another using BT (but that didn't seem too easy but as I explained that was probably because I was p1issed) but nothing else and don't have any other BT devices (keyboard/ear pieces) to test with. So I'd say it works.

Ended up doing it twice as ROM flash v1.1a rebooted and I hadn't wiped cache or dalvik cahe. So had to "adb reboot recovery" and then followed your instructions.....which was to wipe both and then install. No data loss flashed over the old version.
Contemplating running a custom kernel so that I could try to under clock and under volt (to save even more battery) as you say doesn't need over clocking - fast enough stock.

You're right it doesn't have the stock frequency (which seems strange to me also), although I'm looking at as a good thing as I'm now running my super fast device on a speed slower than the normal stock and it still runs faster as a result of all the additional tweaks and optimisations.
I'm also able to under-clock the CPU so that it runs on a slower speed when idle and when with screen off. I'm also under-volting the CPU so that less voltage is used (although never done this before - so there is a learning curve).
All of these changes should result in less battery usage - although how much less I've yet to establish!

That's more then likely the reason Paul hasn't posted it here yet.
I am running this Rom for few hours. This is the first and only 2.2 sense Rom I have tried. Been using defrost for close to month now.
I have pretty sensitive ears. Is it only me who is noticing definite change in the audio output with this compared to other vanilla froyo roms. The output is louder, bass is tighter and has more punch with my nuforce ne6 than vanilla roms. I can swear there is noticeable difference here.

Hello Tori007
Before I flash the ROM MoDaCo, I was in 1.21.405.4
So I had the application 20minutes.fr
Since I am in ROM MoDaCo I can't find the application in the Market.
Is it removed from market? Or is it the ROM MoDaCo prohibiting the download of some applications on the Market?
Thank you

My gps refuses to work on GB. I tried resetting and recalibrating with the gps App available on the market but to no avail. It seems like it works for about 5 minutes and then it's out again. I'm also not a fan of CM. It's just too much glitz for my taste is all. It seems more clunky than Froyo. Also my battery times where whacked out. It would say 10-15% and just die randomly. I recalibrated the battery and it fixed it but then the amount of play time i got was also considerably shorter. The main thing I missed about sense was all the glossy black, friend stream, and other widgets etc. I've found replacements for most with froyo but i know it would be much smoother if cooked in like sense was you know?

Well I doubt it's our battery because as soon as I went back to froyo all those problems ceased. I would venture to say it may have something to do with building a good cache of battery stats so GB can tell the true life of your battery. It was just not worth it to me. There's no drastic leap forward like there was from 1.5 to froyo. I'm just not sold on it yet. Nothing against anyone working on it. Just my opinion. I just miss clean aosp

Your first link is bad. It's good in the thread lebmb started, though.
Battery issues... Its been repeated a million times in threads and its in the gb wiki as well. Every time you do a data wipe before flashing a rom it erases your battery stats. You have to drain it and recharge it a few times to fix it.
This applies for any rom, as its caused by wiping the data
Edit: And personally this rom has increased my battery life significantly. So for anyone having issues, I'm gonna have to say either your battery is old, or it's operator error

yeah, while sense is nice, id rather run aosp stuff, particularly cyanogenmod. and the current aospCmod is the best rom that i have ever run. i used to use spare parts to speed up my animations, and now i can have normal animations without any lag. this is just fantastic. even the cm7 nightlies arent that fast. maybe a 2.2 sense port needs to be finished before work is started on the 2.3 sense.

Wrong, those 3 or 4 people just stopped using GB and went back to 2.2, because there were lag issues and no one else really accepted that it was a real problem. You're looking at one of those people. I've been flashing and tweaking ROMs since Windows Mobile 5, I'm not new to this game. This was not an operator error.
Just because it works wonderful and dandy for you doesn't mean it does for everyone else, stop with the 2.3 facism and keep this thread on topic, it's getting boring to watch every new non aospcmod thread get shot down.
Anyways, I PMed NFinite and Zenulator just for the hell of it, even though Zen has a G2 now and Nfinite upgraded to a Shift.

I figure that the ROM is one to watch, once it's got some further tweaks in it..possibly in a version or two, looks like it has great support , especially if voidu had no further updates

I still haven't updated my hboot yet! And are you on the latest official radio from sense 3.0?

I'd say that there is currently no advantage to upgrading until custom ROMS come out that take full advantage of it.
Basically (from my understanding) it halves the size of your CACHE partition to 150Mb which in theory could later on free up 150Mb in system by moving the LIB directory to its own partition using the space taken from CACHE....which as a result will then free up 150Mb free space in SYSTEM, which could be useful for larger sense 3.5 ROMS further down the line....so I believe that its probably increased the lifetime of our devices.....once we use it correctly - anyway!
Hope that that made sense?

Yeah ! Thanks! So it basically means we get more memory free which could be useful for future roms with heavier UIs which may need more storage?
Anyway, forgot to tell you! The ereader issue is still there with the latest kernel available, however the Dev released an update for the Rom which fixes it! (He said there will be a separate kernel update soon) however, if you can't wait:
I asked him if he could provide the patch for separate kernel users and he posted this
lowveld said:
Sure! But I want to check out what the issue is with clean installs, because probably the new kernel ramdisk is not setting up something by itself, and if I update it now it could cause clean install issues in other ROMs.
I don't have too munch time today, so you'll probably have to wait for an "official" post from me.
If you want to try it out anyway, do the following:
- Replace the boot.img on the kernel v1.1 update on post #2 with the boot.img you find on the kernel folder on Hyperion update on post #1. Flash.

I never really use ereader either, but if I can fix it I may as well! So just to make sure I'm following correctly:
download the v1.1 ROM update and take out the boot.img and put that into the kernel zip overwriting the boot.img in that and then you get the new updated kernel, which you can flash?

Yeah you have to overwrite it, not delete it and place the new one :/ i tried that and it did not work.
You have to overwrite it. Took me a couple of attempts before I got it to be flashable!
Just on a side note, I renamed my nandroid backup (to the rom name and date) now its no longer bootable :/
It says md5 sum fails. I had to go back and re install the whole void u ROM again!!
Shame you cannot rename the backup folders (to avoid confusions of you have multiple backups)

The kernel version on the first post#2 of Hyperion is v1.1 so it looks like he updated already? I'll compare the two boot.img file to see if I need to change.
I normally rename the backups through either (used to do it through ROM Manager) but now do it through 4EXT app and never have issues
Did you just rename the /sdcard/clockworkmod/Backup/NAME directory through a file manager? But, I'd have though that that would have been fine!
Sounds like you were un-lucky! Yuck!
Also recently noticed an intermittent issue, where the wifi indicator shows no bars on notification bar yet has full signal and is connected and operational.
@kartkk
I'm about to try the BEATS add-on from the Hyperion ROM to see if it works on VoidU! just taking a before backup! will report back

I tried voidu a few days back but it seemed slower than vu to me & the fb sense widget kept refreshing constantly so I stopped using it.am I missing something? Should I try again?because I keep hearing so many positive comments about this Rom
& also have you tried the runny Rom? the browser on this Rom is very fast because of htc's optimizations, but battery life seems to be bad right now

never used VU, so can't compare, plus don't use FB widget! sorry to be of no help! I run VoidU at 90% stock speed and find it perfect, good battery also. Each to their own, I love the inclusion of RC3mix3d tweaks in settings that permit extra visual configuration especially the tailoring of the quick options screen and notification bar.
Hyperion looks like current hot property! BEATS just included as patch! LBC new version to come also.
I have tried Runny but wasn't for me at the moment when compared to VoidU, fonts a little small and inconsistent although I liked the sense v3.5 experience, I figure that that ROM is only going to get better so I'll try again in a while.

Beats patch works
Small prob though. Since our notification menu is black, when I play music, the beats audio thing doesn't come out right.
Any ideas?

Aha
Seems to not make a dramatic difference in sound quality! Sounds pretty much the same as srs.
When you plug in a pair of beats headphones, it wil automatically switch to beats mode! (According to what I read)
I'm gonna try it with my mates beats pair tomorrow
So, what colour is your default notification bar? I kept mine black , because the white patch isn't the original one from htc

The writing for beats audio is unreadable. It's because the font it black .. and blends in with the black background. It will be a bit annoying for me now when I listen to music!
I wonder if there is a way to change it back to the white default from HTC (not custom ones)

Let me kick this off by saying I am not the most knowledgeable guy around here, and I don't have as much time to dedicate to working on ROMs as I would like, but I would like to share what I have been working on. This is just me sharing my own personal compilation/build. If you know me from the Inspire or Captivate, you might know what to expect.
This ROM is using playin4sheezy's BoneStocketeer as the base, mainly because my Beta1-6 builds had problems with no vibrate...didnt notice it because i dont use it, but it is what it is.
Features:
2.3.5 KJ7 from Rogers (bonestocketeer):
stripped, tweaked, pounded
14-toggle port by YoDerk
Stockish Kernel .1 by RomRacer
obviously no CIQ because of the KJ7 rogers base
ICS Animations
Extended Power menu
accurate battery/stock battery icon w/%
stock look
all homescreen icons/widgets removed for a clean install
language is set to American English
overall system tweaks and increased response
This rom has a very stock look to it, but is very quick. I am using stockish kernel due to too many SOD's with DaG kernel (if you dont normally have SOD issues with his kernel, go ahead and flash it)
I am not a flashy person when it comes to rom building, but i like it sleek and fast. Give it a try and see what you think. I am continuously working on my own build, but i will not release anything to you guys that i have not been thoroughly testing myself. this build has been over a week of me working on it as I found time to build/test.

it looks stock with nothing on the homescreens. it has stock battery icon with percentage....very minimal
overclocking is dependent on the kernel, not the rom. if you install Da_G's kernel, you can overclock.
try and see. you can always go back to your old rom via nandroid.....
PirateGhost seems like I always have the same phones as you lol I know your work and I will be flashing this ROM when I get to 100%. Quick question, when I had the inspire we could just clear the caches and wipe everything and flash away, now that I've come back to Samsung do we have to return to stock (Captivate times) before flashing a new ROM? I'm on sky ice cream sandwich.

the only reason Flash to Stock was needed on the captivate was because of their horrible RFS. they have done things properly and now use an ext4 filesystem, so its not needed. just wipe and flash

Hi guys,
I tried so far many ROMS with different version of Sense (ARHD, InsertCoin, Viper). All are good but after some time the interaction looks a little laggy and the applications are starting with some lag.
So I want to try a ROM without Sense and I need your help.
What is the Best ROM without Sense ?
Please keep in mind that I need all HW functions to work all the time (WiFi, WiFi Tether, BT, Camera, etc) and I need to be able to use a mail.apk modified to disable the security requirements and beside performance I would need some decent battery too.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Try badosp from.

CM9
nothing beats original AOKP
there are a few modified AOKP ROMs in the dev section
+1 AOKP all the way
but if you want something more stock without all the tweaks and stuff, CM9 is the way to go
The camera doesn't work for everything. Barcode scanners fail really hard with AOSP ICS, but seem to run better with AOSP JB, but you lose the front camera.
Kinda like aokp lately...
Ok, you better post links, because there are a lot of variations of AOSP and AOKP. Anyway I just want to mention that I want everything to work perfectly: both cameras, BT, WiFi, etc. So please suggest only ROMS that are known to be fully operational for daily heavy use.
Thanks again.
CM9 for sure! It's by far the fastest I've seen.

If I remember correctly, victorious does have some widgets that your speaking of .it was the first Rom I ever ran so I can't really remember but I believe so. Also it had the BEST battery life of ANY Rom I've ever ran. I think you will really like that! I got to missing sense so I changed roms but its ultra stable and I think you will love it! Please just try the dammed ROMs yourself. with nandroid backups you can easily revert back. Then you can choose one that most closely delivers "what you want".
If you want everything that's in Stock just use a Stock RUU. All custom ROMs have failings somewhere in the frame and will probably have updates on a regular basis to "iron" out minor issues.
I'm currently using CM10 Beta Jelly Bean, it has enough working to make it my daily. Previously I was using Virtuous Inquisition and it was very good, Sense back-end with almost all apps and widgets replaced by AOSP variants. IIRC it used the Sense ICS camera which is better than the pure AOSP ones.
