Is it possible to buy the LTE modem myself and install it to make it work?
Anyone knows the brand & model # of the modem?
The reason I asked is because I am in Hong Kong and not able to ship the unit back for upgrade.
Thanks,
J
Dude, that would be risky to try a self Upgrade. If you mess it up, your warranty is toast. Contact Motorola and ask them if there is anything that can be done because you are out of the country.
I think that should be possible if you findma way to obtain the module. check ifixit.com, they have a guide with some images. All you need to do is remove the two screws located near the usb- and power connector, after that you'll be able to slide down the aluminum part of the back cover. you'll find a dummy-mini-pci-card which needs to be swapped with the 4G-module.
I'm not sure on the software-side though, I suppose that flashing a MZ602-rom is enough, but who knows...

Hi all,
I need to buy the original back cover for my phone. It sounds strange, but I had to send my phone to repair, and they gave me the back cover, after a week, I lost it! I really don't know what I did with it. Probably I'll find it, but now that I have my phone again, it is completely naked!
Do you know where to buy the back cover??

Not exactly what you asked, but I hope it may help. (I don't work for Clove, and I don't own mentioned case, so I cannot say anything about it's quality.)
I am also looking for the original back cover...
Anyone?
I don't know about your countries but LG should be able to give you the number for the official retailers of spare parts for the LG brand unless it's LG themselves and you should be able to buy it from them.
I was setting this phone up to give away (for free) to someone as their first smartphone. But a bad charging port fried the phone. Does anyone have a phone to donate? I would take a complete phone or just a motherboard... or even a broken phone to salvage the motherboard from. Right now eBay doesn't have any that look like they would be usable (they don't power up). If you are willing to donate a working phone, I'll take pretty much anything!
Hey, thanks to anyone who can help me in any way!
If you know of anywhere I can find a replacement for very cheap, that would be great too!
Just curious... if I switch the motherboard, are there any problems I could have since the IMEI doesn't match the one on the motherboard?

Shouldn't be a problem. One thing though, some carriers like to pick on people about their IMEI so make sure you keep your original somewhere safe.
Thanks for the reply. I will be sure to write it down and keep it on a post-it right on top of the old one!
this may be a dumb question but does anyone know if i could get one of those dummy display models in store and transfer all the inards from my s3 to the dummy one? the only reason i ask is cause my case is a little damaged and i was going to try and sell my phone but want it to look better, any help would be appericated.

its easier to just buy a new housing unit on ebay. The dummy models don't have a digitizer in the screen, and are not normally able to be taken apart.

imagine there is a broken s6 i ternational version laying around, afaik they have an unlocked bootloader.
what chip or chips would need swapping in order to turn my sm-g920v into a sm-g920f (international/unlocked bootloader, i think.)?
That's a very crude and basic solution for an extremely complicated problem. You'd have better luck trying to use JTAG to rewrite the memory registers, but considering how the bootloader works, you'd have to get it perfect or the phone would never live again.
I imagine you could buy an international version for parts and swap the motherboard, but with that kind of money and time you're better off just buying a used device in decent shape.

I guess I need to buy a new one. Know if the phone will work without til it arrives? Thanks
Nfc antenna! So I don't need it. I actually smashed it back in with the tear in case it'll still work, but they are available cheap in China.
