Over the whine-boys in the forum!!!

This may be a BS thread, and may get close, deleted or cause me to get banned, but something has to be said.
THIS PHONE HAS BEEN OUT FOR 3 FRIGGIN WEEKS!!!!!!! GET OVER NOT HAVE A TON OF DEVELOPMENT OUT THE BOX!!!!!
Lets get real people. Phones like the G1, myTouch 3G and Nexus One did NOT have a ton of development from the get go. They took months before multiple ROM's, custom Launcher's, custom App's, themes and so on were available. If you were a late bloomer to any of the phones (3+ months after release) then you would not know this and you would not know that ROM development does NOT happen overnight. So STOP whining. Guys like G8gorilla, persiansown and teamsilence (to name a few) are NOT here for YOUR benefit. They develop ROM's, MOD's, and changes because it is what THEY want to do to THEIR phone. They decide to share it with you because that is the type of people they are. Sometimes, some of us, donate to them to thank them for their time, BUT THAT IS IS, ITS A DONATION FOR A THANKS, NOT PAYMENT.
If you do not like the Development we have in just 3 weeks of release on this phone, then BUY A FRIGGIN NEXUS!!!!! And quit whining. If you bought this phone based solely on the development capabilities, then friggin learn how to develop, stop putting it on other members and again, QUIT WHINING!!!!

I've answered several threads about this and really it took a long time for all the threads about the G1 and mytouch 3g to blow up.

I bought this phone for the hardware and how much my MyTouch3G lasted. I will be patient and wait for the development, everyone should as well. If your not gonna be patient go buy a subpar G2 or N1.

This phone is not need to be in development. It always has all things. We got S-OFF and perma-root. We can delete crap stock apps, can modify system.
If will Android 2.3 released, we will get it, cause T-Mobile cares about customers last time (not all time, but release Android 2.2 for MT3G family - it's a great action)
What do you want whine-boys? SenseUI? MotoBlur? Samsung Home?
If yes, why did you buy MyTouch 4G?

Just little "hear hear" from the perspective of a developer. Devs are not here as your servants. if you want something developed, do it yourself. People will help you out, if you ask for help, and give the info needed to answer it.
If you're here to hassle developers, and flame, don't do it here. Developers do this for fun, and are more than entitled to abandon the device and move to one where they're more appreciated.
So don't shoot yourselves in the feet here folks. look after your devs, and they'll look after you.

You have a very good point, truth be told, I got the phone cause of the hardware and the main thing I want is stock android cause I like how it looks and want to use my wiimote lol but otherwise I can honestly say I am satisfied and if I knew how to develop I would but im grateful for those who do put in their hard work.

I agree... the whiners about not getting root immediately at release or custom rom's, are the same jerk offs that buy a tent a Walmart, use it, and return it at after using it...

Welcome to the new management aka dumber than the last one. Some of these special folks now locks the thread and cleans it so flame war ect won't continue when locked.

Makes a bit of sense. It's funny because I was starting to just get into it... I'm not sure I can wait, I might have to see what royalginger or faux's AOSP is all about. I'm addicted to flashing ROMs I think.

Now I never used evil D's rom/kernel or anything. But on serious note as another user in another thread said his rom may have radio.img in it maybe the reason it was pulled. As we all know the danger with corrupted radio.img and as the user says he didn't supply folks with md5 checksum which would give higher risk of bricking the device if corrupted. So maybe thats why it was pulled who knows only evil D and dingleberry mods knows.

Yea I don't think that was it. I'm thinking more of stolen code or some nonsense. but that's all just speculation. Whatevs, I am kind of attached to sense 3.0 now, but I have a taste for vanilla... I need two phones....

Well technically yes legally HTC can make claim and have it removed. But in the past they have not done so as they actually have very open standard with Android development world. As more news hits of unlocked bootloader and opensense sdk which proves more on that matter.
Far as stolen source code goes let say from another user no one else has put any projects as evil d's contribution is known in our community. Now the new mods may not know this as they don't even own MT4G nor has they been in our sections until Option went MIA. If these new mods do lock/delete it then all of the evil D users should boycott XDA and go download from his direct site if they have it. It seems XDA is becoming very cocky atm with its 4million userbase which can drop any min if main developers pulled back from here.

lol you really don't know who I am then. I can't clearly say I support any type of moderation's let it be mod, super mod, admin as I have dealt with all of them in here. I just think they should assign new mod who at least have a clue with the device we have. Also the new mods nuked alot of my posts which actually had no flame, ect and was actually informative. If they contributed to our device in any ways I would be supportive but since they haven't I can say I share their value. Whos/Option both where our own MT4G member but the other 2 new mod's now don't even own MT4G. So they actually offer nothing to the members here.

But far as rom goes I stick to AOSP as I am not big fan of Sense based. ATM using CM7NB86 (AOSP2.3.4).

I like the customization, nice look. I was CM7 for a little bit, I loved it, was going to switch back but I got hung up on the HTC apps. I still can't find a ROM that does VM notification for 'mycarrier', it never works and bugs the crap out of me, so I use googlevoice.
I agree that mods should be experienced with the hardware/software that their respective sections of moderation use. runs smoother that way and I think overall creates synergy(I love that word). But the objectiveness of a mod that doesn't have any affiliation with the section can be useful in when stopping disputes/flame/etc. IDK the real reason why the thread was locked but it seemed like that move was jumping the gun a bit.

I also see that another developer that was pretty new and had posted 3 roms within the last week is suddenly gone now also. He had a really good stock rom for MT4G that was GingerSense but now all of his threads and posts are gone. Nowhere to be found. Can only see his roms via rom manager.

Anyone know why its currently closed yet? I had my suspicions about text9 app included, but he said it was okay cause it wasnt full version and tmo is putting it on future phones instead of swype im guessing.

If you read a few pages back into the thread, it should be pretty obvious why the download link was removed and the thread temporarily closed. None of the issues discussed in this thread are the real reason. It should be an easy fix, so hopefully the matter is resolved soon.

Couldn't be something as simple as the missing MD5 sum could it...?

Or you could have told the OP why in single line instead of him reading few pages. Some folks like myself never used his rom's much less visited his threads but we would be still interested to know why.

it may be the fact that the thread turned into a pissing contest and everyone was arguing about stupid crap like evil updating the rom everyday. which i dont see them pulling the rom for that reason. glad i have every version downloaded already

Secondly, it won't be released on a new phone for a while.

Without 'I want, I want' there would be less innovation.
It doesn't hurt to express interest, even though we all know the interest is already there... and it's no insult to the dev's to let them know we appreciate their work, and have the faith in them that they'll be able to do something with JB when it comes along as well.
Asking for a when, or issuing a 'hurry the hell up' is a whole different story though...
Personally, by the time JB starts showing up on phones I'd more likely be buying a new phone anyway...

You can go ahead and say "I want, I want" all you "want" when you are paying for goods as a consumer to corporations whose duty is to sell goods that cater to their consumers.
These developers work on these roms for free, they put it in hours and hours of their own labor to provide everyone what they are working on for free, therefore "I want" is a moot point.
If you are paying for something you can yell "I want" all you want, if you are freeloading, well then you really can't say much.
And yes, by the time JB is out, people should be ready for their next upgrades anyway.

I never said they'd get it just for asking... what I mean is, if no one seems interested, things are less likely to get any time invested. Who wants to build something no one wants?
I'm not asking for anything anyway... I take what comes along and I'm happy to have it. I can tweak things, but I can't build them, so I'm ecstatic when someone else distributes something I like!
The devs all know people will want JB roms, there really is no need to tell them, but I doubt it's offending any of them, none of the devs here seem that thin skinned to me.

Yes, Jelly Bean will probably be possible at some point with a bit of work. It will depend on us getting ICS to a stable point.
No, none of us are working on it. The source code is not out yet and we've only just started getting ICS going. *
* There are some people trying to get the JB SDK image to work on our device, but you won't really want to use it because stuff will be broken and it will be buggy as all hell.

IMHO, devs need to settle down and focus on their pet ROM

The main difference between idevices and android devices is apple would release one product at a time and make an all powerful push for it while android has many manufacturers giving us many choices. We all like choices, yes, but we would rather have a few good choices rather than a bunch of bad ones.
No, I am not complaining. I don't have any sense of entitlement. I am only urging the devs to rethink their methods. We have some dedicated devs here, yes. But it feels to me like the devs are racing to see who could come out with the most number of ROMs in the shortest time possible. I'd rather each dev stick with their pet ROM and focus solely on that.
I have several asus transformers from asus's series. The problem that asus is facing is they came out with too many models in such a short time. Because they only have so many devs working on the software, their stock rom are still unstable. Anyone using an asus transformer knows this.
Even in the dev section of the transformer, there are devs who try to come out with a new rom every other week and there are devs who came out with one and then stick with it. The roms with a dedicated dev are way more stable than the roms that are put in place by hit-and-run devs.
I hope I am not offending anyone. It seems to me like we have too many roms. I've tried them all, and while they are great I'd rather see them ironed out even more.

You realize our actual recognized developers are focusing on one single rom right? All of the various roms that are ported are from what use to be called kangbangers, 7zip jockies, winrar rebels. Outside maybe erikmm the rest of our roms are created by young kids that are trying to give the community a decent amount of roms to play with. I say outside erikmm because I understand he has a aosp rom he has been working on.

I know you are going to upset some people. I agree I also would like to see things like aries done but when all people want is roms to flash that is what you will get. We have two to three actual devs working to get this stuff fixed. They are hard at it. But two or three people can only do so much especially when they have a family.

Well if you want the few good choices there are plenty of GB roms and several ICS roms, including CM9 that can be considered stable, daily drivers.
We also have a lot of roms by other devs and groups that are alpha ports. You're not obligated to flash anything that's not to your liking. As I said, we already have a lot of stable roms that people are sticking with as the sole rom that they update/release.

Is there really much else the people who port multiple roms can do to make the roms better? I mean, they all use the same kernel. What else do you want them to do with the rom? Most of them are already stable and are daily drivers.

This statement is one that upsets me when this kind of thread is posted. I can and I am very grateful for what is contributed here. However I can also have a opinion that doesnt flow with the community. I dont take the original post as a ungrateful post but more uninformed. To somebody that isnt up to date what the various "teams" are it would appear There are a bunch of "devs" giving us mostly working roms. Minor things not working but very much ready for daily use. But to people that know better they realize these ported roms are just ported roms. The real development is being done and its just two or three people.
Ill break it down.
Team Acid has given us the base to build ICS based roms.
Team FAH-Q has brought us a couple built from source roms and several nice ports.
Team Unknown have brought us many ported roms.
Then there is people like jeffsf, and jt that have contributed some very important things. Jt is responsible for getting us a working build of ICS, and jeffsf got oc/uv working.
By no means am I trying to slight any of the developers and rom porters. Just would like people to understand things are being worked on and pretty much daily. Sit down, strap in and enjoy the ride. And for the love of all things android please stop telling people that should be grateful to me that is more offensive than outright insulting somebody. Because you are implying they dont appreciate anything and its clear that they are more uninformed than anything.

I would have posted the same thing to FB had he told the guy to be more grateful. My only beef is the constant barrage from people telling people to be grateful. Basically its like saying shut up and like what we have and dont ruffle any feathers. The op, unlike you, is confused as to whats happening. So I was addressing your statement and giving some more background to the op as to why it appears we have a race going on.

Please understand that I am very grateful. I currently use the GB barebone rom, and I absolutely love it. Run my business with it.

The reason why I say be grateful is because it seems like they're doing all they can do, porting. What else do you want them to do?
Most of the ported roms don't even have any bugs besides the cm9 bugs from the team acid kernel.

Respect the opinions of others. If all you can say is you should be grateful then really dont respond. The op stated he is grateful and just curious. Like I said originally its a matter of misinformation and misunderstanding of what is actually happening.

I don't understand what people are referring by stability here. Since leaked GB ROMs of 1 and a half year ago or maybe since having AntonX kernel, I don't remember any reboot or crashes. Actually besides battery life and TV out, to me, ICS ROMs are pretty much perfect. I think it is actually pretty clear what is the professionalism of every team in this community, I won't repeat what's been already said. To me, if someone is not satisfied or not getting what he wants he should either donate or try to make a change of his own. I try to do both, by making my contribution in translating ROMs and just lately donated to erik.
Team Acid and their friends are the solid rock on which we all (community contributors I like to call it) stand, so we need to embrace them.

No luck yet. At the moment I can get a brand new sgs4g for free from target mobile but that means a contract extension.
I tried to purchase a phone yesterday from a guy on craigslist but when I finally got around to buying my replacement sim card and asking the guy where he wanted to meet he told me he had already sold the phone. I'll keep looking today but it might not happen until the weekend.
For the moment I'll be rocking my old iPhone 3G

**Disclaimer** This is my opinion and my opinion only.
A rom like cm9 or aokp that is built from source isnt what I consider a port because you have to know something to get it working. Even with acidify you need to know something to get it to work. However I can read a guide similar to the one I linked you many months ago and port a rom. Many times all it takes is some adb lolcat and google and you can fix whats wrong. If your base and port roms are working roms the only problems you should have is whats not working in the base.
I feel there is a great deal of difference between somebody that uses 7zip and adb lolcat to port a rom and somebody that spends hours at a time editing code to create these base roms for all the ports. In time if the 7zip jockey graduates to build and editing source code then good on them they have made the journey that people talk about is the reason xda exists.

Buddy actually I dont want to explain that why I posted in a rude way but there are many things going behind the curtain between the developers which you are not aware (but I am). So its not ur fault. You are right at ur point but you can look just one side.Other side is uknown to everybody.

i'm with vishal on this one ! crk1995.. u dont know things so i advice u to just calm down ! hillbeast is a knowledge person which would mean he could compile a kernel easily ! but honestly he hasnt done much ... even stock gingerbread kernel isnt out yet and its been months ! while adi_pat (aditya patange ) being a 10th standard boy (16 years old) having barely any knowledge compared to hillbeast, he backported ION and DSSCOMP with help of dhiru and Ooi Kai Sheng(14 years old developer) .... i expected a lot from hillbeast and i'm just disappointed... oh yeah for the record aditya also asked for his help and hes busy 100% of the time... i kno he has his personal life... we just wanted a little help in it ! even that he couldnt do ! i kno m rude but i just HAD to say this ! mayb we should send the device to some1 else !

I am not sure yet what is going on with hillbeast as I have not spoken to him myself, but I am watching this thread as it seems there might be an opportunity for some civil and professional conversation. I think some people are too anxious right now and need to calm down.
