Lg mytouch any roms yet - General Topics

Been waiting for roms ?will they ever make for this phone
Sent from my LG-E739 using xda premium

Yes, CM7 for E730 +kernel patch works good for E739, Im running it right now.

Can you overclock that kernel? I just ordered the lg mytouch today and I'm doing some preemptive research.

I guess, in CM7 there's option for CPU clock 1.5 Ghz

True... But when TMobile says that they will give me this phone for free as an upgrade, I just say yes... haha I just wanted a cheap 3g smart phone, didn't really care about what it is. I have my Tablet to play around with. The first lady I talked to at Tmobile was asking like 100 + dollars for older 3g phones. That was "the best she could do." When I called back (BTW... Always call back and talk to somebody else) the guy was like, I can give you the new LG MyTouch for free or I can give you the Samsung Gravity Smart for .. No brainer. I'm super stoked that I can get CyanogenMod's ROM on it. I was running CM7 on my Samsung Captivate. I bricked it though and now I'm stuck with a loaner dumb flip phone... I'm anxiously awaiting this MyTouch.

Awesome. Thanks a lot. I'm excited I'm going to be running CM7!!! I love their ROMS. Also, I've been all over every forum i can find about this phone and development. Are there any bugs a of now? That camera orientation issue resolved? I can't find a straight answer. I appreciate your help.

I haven't seen any bug and partly resolved, back camera works good but front orientation will be fixed soon. Developer said its very easy to fix. I told him the orientation and he's probably working on it.

Because back when this thread was made, there probably was no CM7 for the E739!
Seriously, look how old the thread you revived is. Nearly 6 months? And an incredibly stupid statement. Good job.

[Q] ICS source released

http://www.androidcentral.com/ice-cream-sandwich-source-code-now-being-pushed-git-servers
Question about the process.
So if you have source available what does it take to adopt for Infuse? Is it a huge endavour and might never happen or it's something feasable?
I fear we would need some help from Samsung for a relatively working port to be possible, please correct me if I am wrong though. If it was possible it would probably be along the lines of CM7 as in there would still be Bluetooth issues and such because of our unique hardware. I love my Infuse and hope we can get a semi working port, but I will probably be jumping ship when devices start rolling out with ICS.
At a minimum:
1. Get AOSP working with our bootloaders.
2. Get our drivers integrated into the source.
3. Get the kernel configured correctly.
There are going to be other issues to consider as well. For example, the ICS launcher is hardware accelerated. Depending on how other implement it our hardware might not be able to handle it.
Just as an example: compiling the ICS launcher from scratch at the GB 2.3.3 level produces over 800 errors. I've narrowed most of them down to the HA features of the ICS API. Google has released a "support package" to help with development, but I don't know how much it is going to help because it hasn't finished downloading yet
The Infuse can definitly handle it, its just the probability is becoming zero, the Infuse is being sold for 1 penny online now. I am pretty sure they are in the first stages of getting rid of our infuse from the market.

correct me if I'm wrong, but there has been no action on Samsung/AT&T related to I997 since its release, and in a matter of few weeks it flew from $ 200 to free/$0.01, weird way of doing business

Nice, hopefully it's not a waste of your time and it's legit. And it is sketchy that it would be posted without a source.

I already restored back to my bionix reloaded build sorry... just boot it up on your own, you cant do any harm by flashing it for a bit...
its literally an AOSP build... 4.0.1 (with a bunch of other digits after)... same old kernel... sound doesnt work so you can even make phone calls... its a mess to say the least...
and i doubt it would be fully working since we still dont have tegra2 drivers from nvidia... 2.2 to 2.3 is a doable fix, 2.3 to 4.0 is no beuno... nvidia or LG has to throw us a bone on this one...

Well I tried it and it works just cant get a data connecting 2g 3g or wifi. it was cool though having ICS for a minute!
this one didnt have the onscreen buttons too!
Cant wait for this to be put on this device. Tried a Galaxy Nexus at the local store and was amazed at the software. I would get one of those but seriously Tegra 2 is better than sgrx 540, Trust me that GN can not do what this G2x can in terms of gaming!

ICS depression

Its kind of upsetting/depressing that almost every other high end Android device had at least one ICS ROM. I hope the wait is worth it :/

The Nexus One was destined for high end development anyways...But even the freaking HD2 now has ICS. Now thats ridiculous
But yah, ICS really has nothing to be depressed over. Except for the hardware acceleration capability...now CM9 is a whole other thing. But i'm sure CM9 will be available way before LG drops the major update.
I spent a few hours installing ICS on my daughter's Samsung Vibrant. It was nice to play with but not totally earth shattering. Some UI changes (improvements?), some different features. I was very excited about ICS now after spending some time with it, I can be patient and for the developers to work it out.

Let not your heart be troubled.
Before you smash the G2x, flash Phoenixblood rom + Faux latest cm kernel and let us all know how you feel about your G2x then lol
I think just about all of us are anticipating cm9 but i believe i have found the best cm7 experience with 0 flaws imo with PhoenixBlood rom
To me is not really about ics, its about how they treat us (g2x users) if it wasn't for cm7/cerqueira this phone would be nothing, im glad i got a good one but many people got ****ty phones and the only reason they did gb was because of the lawsuit. They don't want to give us a fish (updates) and they sure as hell don't want to teach us how to fish (drivers).
I for sure dont want nothing to do with lg/nvidia, had a chance to get 2 cheap LG tvs for xmas, went with another more expensive brand!

It ran fine without any bug and everything working. It sucks because there is no CM Settings menu.....thats where most of the feature that I use daily are located. losing all those features to gain better new looks is pointless.
I like this phone but, because of the lack of support for it, not LG, NVIDIA and Google. Although it's blasphemy stating this on an Android focused website forum, because of the total messup with this phone, except for the devotion of independent developers and others who support/supported this phone, I will not be buying anything with NVIDIA in it, made by LG, and probably not Android. I am going to seriously consider phones which run the new Windows OS and the iPhone 5 when it comes out.

I have a feeling Samsung will release ICS for the SkyRocket by March. AT&T on the other hand..... but that's pretty cool because with all of the ROMS available (and hopefully upcomming ROMS and MODS) the current OS is still pretty cool and highly functional. I have one question Sean. IS there or will there be a way to enable NFC on the stock ROM. I don't want to keep beating this into the ground, but with ICS a ways off, NFC would be a nice addition to the stock ROM. Someday I will be ready to try different ROMS (more than likely one of yours), but until then I'm going to stick with stock. Thanks.

Skyrocket uses the same sound chip (yamaha), so it'd destroy it on the SR also.
Our ICS dev is even more destroyed by the fact that we have a different SoC, we'd honestly probably have to take the code from something like the Vivid or the Rezound for the drivers for the CPU, GPU, stuff like that, correct me if I'm wrong here dev's.

Well, for starters, it's the first Android OS that's actually built to utilize dual core processing (not the case for Gingerbread). For everything else, try doing some actual reading on ICS sometime.

It's the single biggest leap the OS has ever taken (particularly on phones, since it incorporates all the advancements of Honeycomb as well).
It's much faster, optimized for dual core, features a fully hardware accellerated UI so everything is much smoother and more responsive, much improved multi-tasking support, a major redesign to the actual look, and improvements to most of the native google apps.
If the firmware of your phone is at all a concern to you, ICS is a pretty big deal. It doesn't reinvent the Android experience, but it's as major of a refinement as we've ever gotten.

A true version of android ported to the Sidekick ANY would be godsend to us all xD we've been on Froyo since launch. I would cut the tip of my pinky off for ICS .-. .... I'm not even joking. I wouldn't miss it.

Sadly, not even close. But if we could find some devs looking for a challenge then we may someday. I mean, I know the Kick can handle it, I own an Optimus T and that has 4.2 and AOKP, Cyanogen and a whole lot of roms. On a 600mhz processor. Crazy right?
But as said by ged said, we may soon have a GingerBread port I'm excited about that.
I'll ask a couple devs I know (and possibly post a thread in the general section to see if anyone interested). I don't think any device should be stuck on froyo. For Gods sake, the HTC Dream can run freaking JB!!!

Shortly after that, I went and bought myself a Galaxy S2, and to be completely honest, I regret doing so. I wish I had bought the S3 instead, or even the Nexus 4, even though it has only 16GB max, no removable battery or sd card slot.
