I keep getting a "message not sent" notification every once in awhile while sending a text. It goes away after a second and the sms is sent. Is there any way that I can turn off the failed message notification in the stock ICS messaging app or fix this problem all together? thanks
Messages app > Settings > Notifications > Scroll to sent messages > Untick 'Failure Notification'
The problem is usually when you have poor signal, you could try different radios but there's no guarantee any will be better.

I don't have that option. I just have the options to turn off notifications, choose ringtone, and vibrate.

Insertcoin 4.4.6 with AOSP theme by shnizlon
I've had this problem with every ICS rom I've used.
I'm assuming that theme installs the Stock ICS app which may explain why the options aren't there.
On ARHD using the Sense messaging app they option to turn the notifications off are present.

Ok, after I installed the gutted ROM I have the double messages again even I get a text. But there isn't anywhere to choose handcent as default, like it was prior to rooting. I go into the settings on both handcent and stock msg and there is no option to make either a default. I assumed when I sent my first text from handcent I would get the message, but nope. Can anyone tell me how to make handcent default so I can stop getting 2 messages?

In the stock messaging app, go into settings and de-select Auto-retrieve and de-select Notifications. Close that and go to your People app and select someone to send a text message (don't do this in the Handcent app) and you should get a text box to choose which app to use and be sure to select Handcent as the dafault action.
Make sure notifications are turned off in the stock SMS app. That's all I had to do to get Handcent to be my default SMS app. You can also clear your settings, much like you'd do to switch between Sense UI and the stock home screen.

Perfect!! That worked great, thanks for the help guys.
The same problem as in the subject. When I sign this function (information led is enable), nothing happens.
The same combination whith RunnyendeS ROM worked perfectly. Could someone try this on his endymnion v 2.2 rom?
Settings > Privacy > Message notification preview, checked?
Messages > Menu Button > Settings > Notifications > Notification preview, checked?
Settings > RCmix3D Settings > Misc Options > SMS Screen On, check then uncheck then check again.
If that doesn't work, I don't know whats wrong.
All checked and marked (unmarked too and marked again). Nothing - black screen, only notification light is blinking.
*shrugs shoulders*
I'll try to test it tomorrow, but neither my second nor third handsets have any mobile credit.
I'll be grateful

Hi there,
It won't work. Reason is in Endymion I use the stock sms app. The one from RCMix and ports, although it does allow for screen-on on receive, has other issues:
- secure box won't work
- block list won't work
- changing between these folders can lead to a state where you actually have to kill the app to get back to your inbox.
So, at least in my mind, I chose the lesser of two evils. But you can extract Mms.apk from Rcmix 4 and replace the one in endymion if you want to.
Cheers
Thanks a lot, now I know, that there is everything ok whith my rom. Anyway sms flashing in not a life and death case for me and I think that endy 2.2 is the best rom for my phone.
Peace
Is there a way to differentiate and turn off the gmail notification
from the SMS notification?
I am missing text messages because I don't want the other notification.
Thanks
In settings->sound->ringtones and notifications you can change 'default notifications' and 'SMS' received'. That should help you differentiate the two sounds.

I wish. 'default notifications' only.
Tried message and mail apps. settings, they are there but changing them do nothing.
After some More googling found Tone Picker app that lets me make an mp3 into a notifications for 'SMS' received' but have to turn data off so I don't get email and news notifications.
If anyone finds any thing better please let me know.
What phone and Android version are you using?
Moto Photon, stock Gingerbread, rooted with cwm bootstrap
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
open Gmail app->menu->label settings
notification settings should be there. i'm on ICS so i hope it's the same for you. best of luck.
Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to make the new FP1 lockscreen show notifications for Go SMS?
I use GoSMS also and I have not seen a way yet
I think go sms is not ready for FP1 new lock screen yet. You can try this see if it works. In go sms notificaton settings, uncheck the option "disable other sms notification".

That didn't work. Maybe it's because I'm using nitro's FP1 debloated rom with Ecplise parts. That rom doesn't have the stock Messaging app but the AOSP one

So I erased go sms and got the stock messaging app to work and I get the notifications for it on the lockscreen. I reinstalled go sms and disabled the notifications for it (but still have notifications for the stock messaging app), but now I don't get any notifications at all, not even vibration or ring. I only get notifications when I delete go sms. This is weird

Did you try to enable the notification to see how it behave?

I did, notifications work except for on the lock screen
If I can put in my 2 cents... I've been using widgetlocker on my rooted EP4 forever now. I love it. It allows full customization and notifications. I'm about to make the FP1 switch and the first thing I'll be doing is rooting and installing widgetlocker again (well not the first thing, but you get the idea). It's a fantastic program that should suit your needs for allowing notifications.
Well, I'm officially stumped. The vibration part of stock sms works, but no sounds.
Reflash AOKP 4.1.2, backup restore , and still no sound.
Email, voice mail, phone and G msg app all work for sound, just not stock msg app.
I have tried several different sounds, but to no avail.
This started after I did cm10.1 and flash back to AOKP 4.1.2

Wiped both.
Call me stupid, but I cannot find any box to enable / disable notification sounds.
Looked thrice just to be sure. Where on AOKP/system settings menu would it be?
If all of your notification sounds are working OK *except* text messages then I suggest you look at the notification settings within the messaging app. Open messaging then go into the settings, from there scroll down to the notifications section and make sure that checkbox is checked. You could also select 'chose ringtone' and make sure you don't have it on silent mode.

That did the trick. Always set the sound from settings and didn'trrealize that there was a spot directly in messaging.
Major thanks for the help!
